1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BLC] Blakecoin Fast Blake-256 Cryptographic Coin for CPU/GPU/FPGA on: January 03, 2014, 05:39:26 PM
Hi, thanks for the bitstream. I considered installing a getwork proxy I have used in the past which could resolve the wallet client issue myself and others have had (by running multiple wallets and staggering their restarts, not a *real* fix). It could also allow pool mining. https://github.com/cdhowie/Bitcoin-mining-proxy

You're welcome. BlueDragon's suggestion of running a private pool sounds useful. Alternatively if you're of a coding bent, you could just diff the changes kr105 made to cgminer 3.1.1 to get blake working on stratum and apply them to the proxy. I think its just the blake hash function plus a couple of esoteric tweaks to the sha256 hashing used in the work generation (BlueDragon swapped a double hash for a single hash).

I may take another look at the x6500 code if there is enough interest (I've also had a call to do a litecoin port). Unfortunately I've gotten so frustrated with the xilinx toolchain that there was a looming risk of burnout, so I've been taking it easy the last few weeks. Give me a while longer and I may feel up to it again.

i may be getting a used one of these soon. So I have an interest in being able to change bitstream from SHA256 to Blake.
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Cubits V2 - Battlestar Galactica - SHA-256d -SCIFI on: January 02, 2014, 08:04:59 PM
will there be a mac osx qt release anytime soon?

1. Please move to the V3 thread. this version is no longer supported.
2. you should be able to make your own from the git source. look in the doc folder for readme-qt

Mac OS X

Download and install the Qt Mac OS X SDK. It is recommended to also install Apple's Xcode with UNIX tools.
Download and install MacPorts.
Execute the following commands in a terminal to get the dependencies:
sudo port selfupdate
sudo port install boost db48 miniupnpc
Open the .pro file in Qt Creator and build as normal (cmd-B)

Because this coin is connected to the MMO I think I can push getting it on the SciFiCryptoCoin exchange. What kind of MMO is it? Swords & Sorcery, Space Opera, SteamPunk?

We have one Horror Coin OFF (Cthulhu Offerings) so  it need not be a straight SF world.

OTOH a Space Opera would the kind I would personally play.

Is there a new pool? or big GPU farm solo mining.  Maybe some one testing some scrypt ASIC miners see https://alpha-t.net/shop/

Thanks I'm happy to do so. Pool was down because of blokchain issues and Hosting co upgrades.

But it's back up now.

All it needs is people mining so lets go folks. I'll be bumping all the giveaway threads starting tomorrow

this seem to be related to the change in POS ages and new years day.
KED is based on Novacoin and both are doing this today. The POS changes from 30-60 days to 60-90 days on 1/1/2014

you are still in 2013 but some nodes are in 2014 it should go away when you are in 2014

1078  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: eBay prices out of whack with reality? on: December 31, 2013, 07:23:19 PM
Just wanted to see people's thoughts on this. I know that when you resell some equipment you've been using, you have a desire to recoup as much of the purchase cost as possible. Likewise, bidding wars will settle on what the secondary market's demand will permit.

But after seeing the huge price drops, two weeks in a row on BFL's product line, the eBay prices for used units haven't really changed much.

All of the gear we're seeing for the near future from BFL, Black Arrow, etc, are starting to push into the 500+ GH/s or 1+ TH/s range, for under $10 pr 1GH/s. Some of these devices are closer to $3 per 1GH/s.

What justifies still paying $50+ for a 333MH/s Block Erupter, or close to $1000 for a 25GH/s BFL (especially when BFL is selling their own 50GH/s unit at that price now).

Why are people paying this?

yes they are out of whack with reality. I saw a 1oz Silver coin you can buy new for $26.00 sell for $135
1079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Star Trek Crypto Coin Information Thread on: December 31, 2013, 06:37:41 AM
I have the capacity to start another pool.  Smiley

Cubits?

Dollarpound?

Firefly?

Other?

Well I just started a Dollarpounds pool Jupiter Mining Co there are not a lot of DPS miners so another DPS pool may not be needed yet.

OFF has a p2p pool but not anything else.
QBT has 2 pools bet they seem to be up and down a lot often at the same time.
FFC also just has a p2p pool but since you can use ASIC on it the pool runs between 1-4TH/s

FFC has a coinex pool that has a fairly large hashrate at times...

Also found OFF just had 2 new pools come online also
