Could someone walk me through solo mining with the Windows CPU/GPU binary? I've downloaded and run the QT wallet so far.
Mining with the QT client is very inefficient You will get more hashes per second KH/s MH/s GH/s etc. with the cgminer-alt listed in the guide.

But if you just want to test it. The QT is CPU only
Open the Console (Help...Debug window...Console)
Decide how many cores/threads you want to use max should be 1 less than you have. so 3 for quadcore 5 for AMD 6 core etc.
at console type
setgenerate true 3where the number is the cores you want.
next type
getmininginfoyou should see something like this

hashespersec" : 452220 is your hashing speed ~450KH/s in this case. networkhashps" : 5026607056 or ~50GH/s is everybody mining UFC so don't expect to get a block for a very long time.
that's why you should join a pool. In a pool you will get a small amount at regular intervals Solo you get nothing unless you find a block.
