281  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginner vs. fast starter on: November 29, 2023, 06:29:52 PM
Well different people different perspective I think. You are right, some prefer to be a listener and read a lot of questions and answers here. But thats smart also as they learned what they needed just by being an spectator. Only those who keep posting are the one active since they wanted to gain merits. Some are here for pure knowledge and answered thoughts.
I believe that newbies who show a willingness to listen and extensively read through the posted questions and answers are typically not novices when it comes to online forums. They already have an understanding of how these platforms operate and often demonstrate an intermediate level of understanding regarding bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem. Usually, their first goal I think is to spend a significant portion of their time studying the forum.

On the other hand, there is another group who I feel have entry-level knowledge of bitcoin because they are eager to ask any questions or uncertainties on their minds. This eagerness sometimes leads them to unintentionally repeat questions already addressed on the forum. Interestingly as they spend more time on the forum, we find that their frequency of confusion-related questions begins to decrease. Eventually they grow to the point where they can answer queries posed by other beginners.
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jack Dorsey wants to decentralize Bitcoin mining with new investment on: November 29, 2023, 06:04:33 PM
This is not necessary to me, we know Jack Dorsey, we know about his reputation and business, he's coming to claim that he's going to offer something he himself is not capable of, what is the decentralization that can comes in with anything that has to do with someone like Jack Dorsey, maybe we shouldn't be too far fetched in being decieved by those that always try to show they are helping whereas the profits is to their own pocket.
This is going to be huge but I do not think that it is only Jack that's spear heading this. And it is too early to conclude on it. I think in my estimation that it is necessary and from what I have read, there are many potentials and upside to it. One of the reasons I like it is that it is disruptive. But is this going to in any ensure that we do not see high transaction fees again? In addition, what will happen to the already existing mining pool. Will it be abandoned by the miners? Further explanations would go a long way to help me understand better.
283  Economy / Economics / Re: Inventing a job is better than finding a job on: November 28, 2023, 09:58:41 PM
What you must know is that not everyone you can invent a new job and be good at it. Some persons are the job-seeking type of people. They do not have the potentials to be an employer of labor and if they were, they would be terrible at it. Haven't you heard of people who invented a job, close shop and went back to job hunting after a year or thereabouts because they could not cope with the demands of the invented job.
284  Economy / Trading Discussion / Most Traders are Not Profitable on: November 28, 2023, 09:02:07 PM
A lot of traders are not as profitable as they claim to be. I don't know the exact percentage but I can say and stand to be corrected that 95% of traders even the so called professionals are not profitable. How do I know this through simple deduction. 95% of these unprofitable traders make their money through other means and their unsuspecting followers don't know this. Some of the means are
- starting a YouTube channel and making money of
a) affiliate program
b) YouTube ads

- Having a paid course.
- Trading signals
- Selling trading merch
- impressions
- and others.

The true 5% of traders that are very successful and profitable do not even have a YouTube channel (only a very few exceptions). They are strictly for trading only, day in and say out.
285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most gamblers do not believe they can consistently make money, that's why... on: November 28, 2023, 08:36:41 PM

If you're someone who doesn't believe anyone can be profitable in gambling, you might as well consider yourself not welcome in this thread. I'm looking for people who maintain optimism about their chances in gambling so they can share valuable insights.

I believe that I can be profitable in gambling which is why I Gamble. I have also gone the extra length to watch tons of YouTube videos on gambling by most gambling professionals. I am looking to develop or improve on my gambling strategies. I would want to learn  if there are new skills, tips and tricks that can help me to be better gambler. I have even considered buying their courses but that is a future plan . It is my optimism that keeps me going.
286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Not this guy on: November 28, 2023, 08:21:01 PM

I've get to know that not all gamblers need to be a responsible gambler, some knows, they are not hypnotized by gambling, they are fully awake and they still choose to be a reckless gambler.
Some gamblers have accepted their fate which is a responsible gambling. They know they do it, they know that they are addicted to it and you have accepted it. For them it is what is the worst that can happen. After all, they have lost everything and have nothing else to use. Trying to advise or tell them why they should gamble responsibly is veaste of time. When I meet these people, I leave them alone with whatever idealogy that's behind their gambling. It's live and let live.
287  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Who should own a demo account? on: November 27, 2023, 09:08:06 PM
There is no restriction to who can own a Demo trading account, a new trader or an expert trader.
I want to think that there are three types of traders, beginner, intermediate and expert. An expert trader using a demo account is a huge eeg flag for me especially if I want to learn from the person.

Quote
I know many traders may feel like they are now bigger than demo accounts, and only new traders should have demo accounts for demo trades, but I think that to avoid losses still, expert traders should also have demo accounts for trying out new strategies before they try it live. What do you think?
There should be other ways to try out new strategies as an expert trader at that level. There should be tools that expert traders can use to test their strategies other than using a demo environment. Besides losing money is part of the learning curve. If you are afraid to lose money you are not ready for the reality of trading.
288  Economy / Economics / Re: strange indicators to know economy is bad on: November 27, 2023, 08:45:42 PM
<snip>
I did know that such indicators exist. They are not entirely strange bit I would call them less common indicators. From off the top of my head, some other less likely indicators include -
- cellular call index- people may make less call during a recession to save money on cal bills
- brothel index- people are less likely to visit brothels and strip clubs during a recession.
- shortlet index -hotels and rental businesses are affected. Less travels and sleepovers.
- gambling/casino index- people gamble less or restrict their gambling activities during an economic downturn.
289  Economy / Economics / Re: "I saw my salary on a bottle of perfume today" on: November 27, 2023, 08:10:44 PM

If you can't afford the perfume, then go for the one that you can afford. Let the people that can afford it buy it. With your little money, you're still going to get perfume, and you will be saint nice. So don't be disturbed by what you see, everyone is having his or her life to leave. If you can work hard, then you will also be able to afford it one day. But since one bottle of perfume is your one month salary, don't feel bad. Maybe your one month salary is what some people receive in 2-3 months. So you just have to be satisfied with what you have. Don't end up doing illegal things just because you want to buy expensive perfume, clothes, or cars. Just buy what you can afford at that particular time, and keep on working hard.
Well said.
Once we understand what what has been written here, out lives will be easier, simpler, better. We don't need to compare our lives and livelihood with others. For as long as we are hustling legitimately we need to take our eyes of social media comparison. That is not real life.
290  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is it difficult for people to get capital easily? on: November 27, 2023, 07:46:42 PM

How did you get your capital to start that business you are doing today? Or do you experience some things like this from your relatives, because to get capital these days is not easy for me, and there are some people all over the world looking for way to get this capital to start a good business but is not easy for them. Can you share your experience on how you get your capital.
I started the business that I'm doing today and the way I was able to get capital for it was through a loan. Not from your bank but from companies that give out loans with very high interest rates. Before I took out the loan though I already had a repayment plan set in place so as soon as I collected the loan I started to repair it immediately until I was done. This was how I raised capital to start my business. Prior to this time, I had asked family and friends for a loan but then everyone had their thing that they needed money to fix for them. When they refused, I didn't push further. I turned to the loan company. The interest rate was very high but I survived and my business is thriving.
291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Got hacked, lost 11 BTC on: November 24, 2023, 08:35:36 PM
Sorry for the loss. But why have huge amount of coins on an online wallet? The safest wallets are offline/cold and multisig wallets. If you know you can not run your node with cold wallets or with multisig, do not have huge amount of coins on it.
This is such bad news.
Those who save their bitcoins in an online wallet is dancing tango with the devils. There is always a pains end to it. A thousand and one times it has been echoed that your best bet is to save your bitcoin in a multisignature or cold storage wallet.

I hope that it is not only you who have learned from this experience but others who are making the same mistake as you currently can learn and preventing the impending disaster.

293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin network fees are not high is you who can't afford it. on: November 24, 2023, 07:23:32 PM
Assuming that I have a business and one of the methods of payment is through bitcoin, do you think that this your logic will be correct or it applies that in this case. Nobody wants to pay anything extra high fees after making a purchase. It makes no sense especially with high fees. And it has nothing to do with affordability or not. Did you know that this is one of the issues that critics points out when talk against bitcoin and it is call scalability.
294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this a good advice? on: November 24, 2023, 06:55:19 PM
I keep seeing gamblers advising themselves that you are one step closer to winning the jackpot when you quit too early,  it's sad that they strongly believe this.
Any gambler whose friend gives this sort of bad advice should be unfriended because it means that such as person doesn't have the best interest of his friend at heart. A good friend should be the wing man of his gambler friend. Advising when he is going on the extreme with his bets. That friend should be able to chip in words of encouragement when their friend loses and wants to chase the loss due to irrational thinking at that time. He should be able to say "We leave to fight another day." There is no joy in seeing a gambler friend loses and still losing . Or in debts because of gambling habit.
295  Economy / Economics / Re: No Correlation Between Academic Success and Financial Success on: November 24, 2023, 06:24:25 PM
Sometimes it is not about the financial success. At the end of the day, it boils down to success at home, health, friendship and good relationships. Some of the A students actually look at making impact in the world in whatever field they find themselves in. These A students don't care about who they work for as long as they are making impact. These A students are the Nobel Prize winners, Canada Gairdner Award, Fresenius Research Prize, The Laskers, Life Sciences Breakthrough Prize, MacArthur Fellowships, Tang Prize, Crafoord Prizes, The Fields Medal. This is what is important to them.
296  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why the rich win gambling more than the poor. on: November 24, 2023, 06:06:27 PM
I have observed that the rich, I mean those who are financially comfortable, win more in gambling than the poor. By poor, I mean those who do not have enough to meet all their needs. I don't know the reason for this.
Most rich people who gamble do not play slots, they play table games which are more of games of skills. And as you may have know when the rich gamble they do it for socialization and for business purposes.

Quote
Could it be that the rich understand financial management more? Or could it be that the rich are less desperate to win which make them make better gambling decision? I really want to know the reason for this pattern I have observed.

I think that when the rich gamble particularly those who are business people and entrepreneurs . Maybe the funds they use for gamble has been budgeted from the company funds. And of course the ROI on this is huge. Because when they win, they close the deal with the client.
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Logo .... a hologram made with Blender on: November 24, 2023, 05:48:12 PM
Very cool!  If I had to criticize anything it would be the dings are a bit loud imo.
That correct and instead of a ding sound can it be like a swoosh sound. The ding sound makes it look like we are expecting digits but it is not what comes up.
Albeit, great job test the designing the bitcoin logo.

298  Economy / Economics / Re: this makes a huge impact on the economy. on: November 23, 2023, 09:29:57 PM

Do you also find yourself spending more on you payday?, or you approach your expenses differently?
This goes to show you how we as humans plan our lives around our salary. It is almost as if we are leaving to work for our salary and spend it the moment we are paid. And most of these expenses made when your salary has been received is impulse buying. Which is why it Is not bad of you wait it out for a few days before making any expenses. You will have more clear and logical thinking if you do so.
299  Economy / Economics / Re: You are the product. Corporations spying on us deeper than we thought? on: November 23, 2023, 08:36:44 PM
I guess this is what the world and tech has turned into right now. It is all about data data and data. Humans or consumers of tech products are just participants in a huge experiments going on and the data is being gathered and analysed by the research and development department of these corporations who have paid big money for this. While it is true that you can turn off permissions to camera and microphone on your phone when downloading an app it may not be possible for those who live in smart houses , or use cars that my have internet connectivity.
300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The love in football on: November 23, 2023, 08:19:00 PM
Which football are you referring to? Real football like NFL American football or soccer? I personally cannot stand soccer, but i'm only 1 person. My dislike is mainly related to the betting of the sport, it's just not my favorite. Now if you are talking NFL football, I LOVE THAT!!! Big hits, awesome celebrations after scores, many betting options it's just a great sport.
I think he is referring to football (soccer in United States). I do not like sport generally again too because the odds are low but some bettors prefer it saying they can analyze it more than casinos games but I prefer casinos now because of the better odds to chances of winning or losing.
If you are referring to American football, then I am outta here. I try to understand the game but it is too complicated unlike basketball that is without much complications. I may watch it but I do not bet on it because what I do not understand, I do not bet on.

I may try my hands one betting on one or two games if I feel the odds is rights after I get a hang of the game but for now, I am still learning about the sport.
