501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: September 20, 2023, 11:31:57 AM
Gambling, extremely gambling that is compulsive has adverse consequences on the gambler and everything in and around him. The gambler doesn't immediately notices the damage that their compulsive gambling is causing until it is almost too late to be able to salvage the situation. Do not gamble with what you cannot afford to lose. Set aside at least 1%, at most 2% of your monthly income for gambling each month. That way, you would be able to meet your other financial responsibilities without failing and keep your relationship too. When these and other things are not adhered to it leaves a crack in the relationship and could destroy it.

Someone on the forum wrote about the importance of acquiring knowledge about Bitcoin first before investing. The question which the OP.has posed to us is a reflection of that thread. The only newbies are who are not just afraid of the bear market but of the FUD are the ones without proper knowledge.

Those newbies who aren't afraid are the ones who through their knowledge have developed their a well-thought-out investment strategy, diversification, risk management, and understanding that bear market and bull market are all a part of the crypto cycle.
503  Economy / Economics / Re: Thailand to start taxing overseas income next year, including from crypto on: September 19, 2023, 04:41:25 PM
Thailand is known for its tourism, and it is true that some foreigners live in their exploding tax loopholes. But this policy can create a negative impact on foreign investment and tourism. Many foreigners were happy about their low tax rates, which made them an attractive place for many expats. Most of these expats were already paying tax in their home country; now if they need to pay a high tax in Thailand as well, this will force them to leave the country.

For foreigners who include tourists and expats who are from countries where they already have a Double Tax Agreement in place, they will be exempted from this taxation rule. The reverse is the case for foreigners who not already taxed in their country.

Thailand is just taking advantage of their influx of people and not these people would move to the next location. There is no need to tax them since there is already tax on the things they buy like groceries, autos, meals at restaurants, etc. What real value does Thailand offer these foreigners that would make them say more than 180 plus days.

504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Don't Just HODL But HODL Wisely and Securely on: September 19, 2023, 02:40:12 PM
One of the most powerful words that resonates strongly among bitcoiners is the word "HODL". This word describes our undying faith in bitcoin's past, present and future potential. In the bitcoin community, there are those who have been holding for a long-term and also those who have just started hodling because they are moved by the fast approaching halving event in 2024. As we are holding bitcoin we should be vigilant because hackers and scammers tirelessly seek opportunities and loopholes to steal your bitcoin. Therefore, it is not enough to hold but HODL WISELY.

There are more than one thousand ways to HODL bitcoin. In fact, as of 2022 there were about 2,790 Bitcoin-related applications are available on the Google Play Store while Apple Store had about 651 such apps. To add to this there are 288 hardware wallets and 44 bearer tokens in circulation, all of there telling you that they are able to secure your bitcoin holdings

Don't just hold but hodl wisely and securely.

This topic is inspired by the responses I received in this thread - How Do I Verify the Integrity of Open-Source Code.

505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Free spins are also a demo in disguise? on: September 19, 2023, 01:17:28 PM
Are free slots even real?
Free spins are real. And they are used by online casinos to attract new customers. You can win win real money from them too. And their outcomes largely depends on luck just with the regular spins. Whenever an online casino offers me a free spin or any other incentives that I didn't exchange money for, I do not get too excited or comfortable with it. I do not take it as seriously as I do with other spins.
506  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling should be play with care on: September 19, 2023, 12:51:08 PM
Although only few people got involved in thispoll, but with more people that comment, most of us on this forum are gambling responsibly.

Weekly gambling budget is good. I think it should not be more than 5% of your weekly income. If you gamble with just 5% out of 100%, I think that is a responsible gambling.

To avoid gambling addiction, it starts from using little budget.

In the past one may be gambling with reckless abandon but right now, that would be a stupid thing to do.

Every gambler must who desires to be successful must be intentional about it. Their approach and attitude towards gambling should not be governed by spontaneity but by a well-thought out strategy which would include creating a budget, having an spreadsheet to record how much they spend on gambling and other healthy habits that would help protect the finances of the gambler.
507  Economy / Economics / Re: Tim Gurner wants Unemployment to increase. Employers have lost their power. on: September 18, 2023, 07:26:11 AM
Tim Gurner is a capitalist. He is one of the people who should be used to cite example of how bad capitalism is. Imagine if there were no labor unions, this man would literally work his employees to death because he wants them to bring him money.

This is exactly how those financial elites think, all they dream and scheme about is how to increase the desperation level of the workers. They make their employees suffer to exist in a multi-trillion dollar economy.
508  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Honest question, what to think about “crypto” affiliates or influencers? on: September 18, 2023, 06:26:14 AM
Does this mean that if you see any YouTuber or crypto “celebrity” pumping a product or trying to make a buck out of content, that you should run away from them?
Most of the opinions from these crypto influencers are not reliable because they don't have the years of experience in the space to be able to give any sound advice. That is why you often find them repeating what most analysts are saying and some are creating hype to pump and dump. Once in a blue moon, they may drop some solid advice but still, be cautious and do your own research very well before taking their advice. Those who didn't have lost a fortune.

509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: September 18, 2023, 06:03:16 AM
AS Roma have amazing performance last night after winning over 7-0 from Empoli, its good recovery after have poor performance in last three matches and winning with bigger score will make AS Roma over confidence upcoming match in domestic league and Europe League. Special performance with Romelu Lukaku success opening first goals for AS Roma and he answers Roma fans have believing and give opportunity for him. Success got three points against Empoli make AS Roma move few position above after have been in relegated standings position before and right now move up until 12th standings placed.
Easy win because it was a one-sided match in favor Roma. Empoli needs to change their defensive players and their goal keeper. The two players that stood out in the match for me were, Renato Sanchez, and Cristante. The duo of Lukaku and Dybala showed promise in the match, I believe that they could pose a threat to even stronger opponents. Well this an important win for the team as it has boosted their confidence. In future games, we would like to see a more stable performance from them.
510  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Rural vs Urban Awareness? on: September 18, 2023, 05:55:48 AM
It will shock you to know that bitcoin is being misunderstood all over the world and not just in the regions that you have listed. We shouldn't blame the method of delivery or the method understanding of the audience. What should be done is that there should be an evaluation of the delivery of bitcoin after each sensitization section both in the rural and urban centers.

The advantage of carrying out evaluation is that it would provide a systematic and data-driven approach to assessing and improving the performance of bitcoin sensitization programs such at the end of the awareness nobody would think of it as a scam even if they have had previous experiences with scammers.
511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Experience for new and old gambler? on: September 18, 2023, 04:59:02 AM
Do you think it is the same experience for a gambler who has practically experienced and been involved in gambling evolution since gambling was on the street side with personal belongings or money, to spaces and buildings for gambling with money, to gambling with money online, and now to gambling with cryptocurrency online with a gambler who has experienced a few or just one of the forms of gambling? whose addiction will be harder to break?
The experiences will be different. Absolutely different. The old time gambler would find it difficult to adapt to the new tech particularly if he is not opened to new experiences and wants to be stuck in his old ways. And the thing about this is that the old way of gambling hasn't been flushed away by the new tech enabled gambling. People still gamble by the street corner and in all sorts of alleys.

The addiction that would be harder to break is the new type of tech-enabled-crypto gambling. The casino is literally inside your pockets and you take it every where you go. And anytime you check your phone or even visit the casino website, you reinforce the addiction and make it stronger. The difference I see between the new type of tech-enabled-crypto gambling is that there is no delayed gratification as compared to the old form where you must leave your apartment building to go gamble.
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How Do I Verify the Integrity of Open-Source Code on: September 17, 2023, 01:03:52 PM
The general advice is the a Bitcoin tool such as a wallet is okay to use if it is open-source. Aside this there are crypto companies that post their open source code online. I consider my self a skeptic to a degree and I know that there is always the possibility that these companies could post the open source code online but run a different code on your device. There's also another possibility that it could be tampered with during transit. Is there anyway that I can verify the integrity of open-source code and ensure that the code running on your device matches the published code?

513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Knowledge vs hodlings on: September 17, 2023, 11:28:00 AM
so newbies out there do not rush into buying Bitcoin without first understanding  Bitcoin which can even be done by engaging in important discussions on the forum expecially those of experts and experienced investors. remember knowledge is power.

The common advice in the crypto space is to get knowledge before investing. That it is important to understand it as a whole before investing in Bitcoin. In reality, this is not what happens or how it plays out. How it works is that we heard about Bitcoin, invested first, and asked questions later. However, at what point should we say that we have had proper knowledge and understanding to go ahead and invest in Bitcoin.  I think that it is when the individual feels that they are ready and I am also not against those who invest first and ask questions later. They'll learn the security , decentralization, and others on the "job".
514  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Learning from those who have experience on: September 17, 2023, 11:03:06 AM
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rank gambling addiction as 9. Anyone who has gotten hooked on it can attest that it is one of the most difficult addictions to break free from. Some years back, my gambling addiction was slots. I kept losing. Each time I lost, my consolation and motivation is the hope of a win in the next game but it didn't change. I remember deleting a lot of these gambling apps and closing my accounts on the gambling websites. Unfortunately, after some weeks, I'd go back, redownload the gambling apps, sign up on a new casinos website. I lost control of myself. One of the things that made it difficult quit it was, I was getting an inflows of crypto payments on an app I partnered with a friend to build. Users signed up and paid in crypto to gain access to its features.

After I figured this out, I took a bold step. I cut the funding, that is , I made the app and it's features free for the general public. In no time, I was getting little to no crypto from this app to fund my gambling addiction and it was a game changer. My addiction came under control and now I am free from it.
515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some of country can offer you legal gambling in 2023! on: September 17, 2023, 10:43:51 AM
What do you feel from this that gambling is less ethical?
Some of these Countries outlawed gambling for these reasons:
1) Addiction: There's a high rate at which one can get addicted to gambling even without trying. You play the first time and you win, you play again and you lose. They you want to keep playing to chase loses. Before you know it you are depressed, broke, your life is ruined and you're totally messed up.

2) Scams: This particularly connectes with online casinos. These countries want to protect their citizens from fall victims of various offshore casino scams and gambling rings.

3) Beliefs: Some of these strict countries want to uphold their high moral and religious beliefs and practices. They ban gambling because it is see as morally wrong.

My opinion is that these countries that ban gambling are hypocrites. They ban gambling but they allow football clubs, to be sponsored by gambling organizations. Such that even their stadiums, jerseys and other articles to have gambling ads scattered everywhere. They are I directly benefitting from it.
516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: September 16, 2023, 11:59:26 PM
I was in argument with someone. His view is that people who gamble are those that what they have is not sufficient for them and so they try to make more money from gambling. He said if you have sufficient money to take care of your needs that you won't think of gambling. He made reference to some rich people, who don't gamble because they have sufficient money to even gift to charity but that those rich who still gamble are only addicted to it not just because of the money. Therefore, that the percentage of the rich gambling is very small compared to those in middle class and lower class.

So my question is, is the percentage of the rich gambling lower than the middle and lower class?
Everybody have the reason for going into gambling in which the lack of money or the want for more money is a part of it. I have seen the rich gamble and I have seen the poor gamble. Statistically speaking, I would agree that there are more low to middle income earners gambling than the rich because the rich would rather prefer to own the casino than to gamble at the casino.
517  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What did you do After Reaching your Bitcoin Goal? on: September 16, 2023, 11:56:28 PM
You don't ever rest on your pars. When you reach your Bitcoin goal, set another one but a bigger one. Humans need to have a goal always in mind to pursue it is the stuff that gives our lives meaning and a sense a purpose and direction. And with Bitcoin, the more knowledgeable you are the clarity of your goal and vision.

Therefore reaching your Bitcoin goal is the start of another goal. Set it and go get it.
518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: September 16, 2023, 11:49:56 PM

I don't even believe if napoli will repeat the same story as last year. Napoli performed so garbage against genoa. I may think if missing 2 points are nothing since napoli is still in the early season but it's unacceptable when you are aiming to get the scudetto and become back to back champion in serie a.

I am not too happy with the quality of play I saw from Napoli today. I need to start to keep my expectations at a neutral with these teams. They always end up hurting you when you have too much belief in them. Common Napoli. They could have done better than what they displayed on the pitch today but they could not. No one is going to hand them the scudetto for free or easily this season they re going to have to fight for it.

Quote
Napoli will be loosing a chance to compete for scudetto if it keeps doing horrible performance like that. Draw against genoa. I don't expect shitty performance can happen to the napoli when it faces weak club like genoa.
I saw that if intermilan has the biggest chance in winning the scudetto till the end of season. The won against roma with huge margin was explaining everything.
I lost my bet because of their performance. They were too overconfident and it was what destroyed them. They shouldn't ever underrate any club.
519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If only property I have is bitcoin on: September 16, 2023, 11:39:55 PM
I get your point and I must say that it is totally valid. The first thought that came to mind while reading the OP is that the he could have a discussion with a lawyer about this where he has a document of his seed phrase given to a trusted lawyer so that if the unexpected happens, the lawyer can give it to a family member. I don't know but infeek this is not the best option because the lawyer may decide to use the seed phrase to access the Bitcoin himself.

I think what's best is to have the seed phrase stay with the family. Granted that not everyone can be trusted but there is always a family member who is level headed and can be trusted. That is the person to talk to about the seed phrase.
520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I took a proposal to my State Governor to accept Bitcoin Technology on: September 15, 2023, 12:42:51 PM
I have always advocated for lobbying the government and those political and public office holders. As much as we may try, they are the ones who amplify our voices when they speak about Bitcoin to their colleagues who have the constitutional powers to make, and amend laws. I am very proud of the OP for taking such a bold step. You have not only done it for the school children but you have also done it for the unborn generations in your country.

Hopefully, they'll pick a leaf from El Salvador and begin first by training the trainers or teachers about Bitcoin before they are allowed to teach the students. Once they can achieve this, them they would have laid a good foundation for the rest your country men to follow.
