821  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Self custody will always win on: June 08, 2023, 10:14:06 PM
With self custody, the only thing you are afraid of is losing your keys to a scammer and nothing else. You are relaxed knowing that even if 10 crypto exchanges should declare bankruptcy today your bitcoins is safe. Because you have both your keys and your coins untouched. So self- custody wins. Even if you decide to use any exchange, Keep only amounts that you can afford to lose there.
822  Economy / Economics / Re: To Hodl or Lend: What is your take? on: June 08, 2023, 07:29:50 PM
I am not a big bitcoin investor. People who engage in bitcoin lending using whatever platform that has been made available to them are people who are big investors in bitcoin. Say they have 1 or more bitcoin. From my understanding and research, bitcoin lending seems to be profitable but then I am not the person to engage in that risk. It is too high risk. What scares me most about bitcoin lending is the volatility. I may end up making no profit because of this. Holding and taking profit no matter how the wait period is fine with me. At least my peace of mind is still intact.
823  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cz or the Sec who would you support? on: June 08, 2023, 06:57:25 PM
With the current issue in the crypto world between Cz (Changpeng Zhao) Ceo of binance and the Sec, I support Cz with reasons that binance has done alot to earn it's communities trust, helping millions of users in the crypto ecosystem, and has more durable marketing strategy whereas the Sec is government driven and wants to control everybody.
It's unfair that the sec is suppressing a private cooperation that's helping to grow & build the crypto world, binance is helping everybody including crypto whales and newbies and a fight against binance is against the world.
What's your say on this?
I support bitcoin. Cz is a great guy who has built one of the best crypto organizations in the world and has been at the forefront of bitcoin and crypto advocacy since I have known him. The SEC on the other hand is doing their jobs. Irrespective of the charges they brought against Binance, CZ, Coinbase they are just doing their jobs to keep the crypto space clean and make everyone sit up. Honestly, without them we would have scams and fraudulent crypto organizations trying to rip customers off. So, that is why I said I support bitcoin. it is honest. It is neutral.
824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What can we do, should do, or not do as Bitcoin supporters at this time? on: June 08, 2023, 05:49:02 PM
We have already heard about the Binance and Coinbase cases with the SEC. There is even a rumor that another centralized exchange is about to declare bankruptcy. The message all over the internet is 'withdraw your bitcoin from exchanges.' Despite this apparent attack, Bitcoin's price remains fairly stable. It is having no effect. But then, do we just sit back and do nothing aside from saying to avoid centralized exchanges? What can we do or should do, or not do as Bitcoin supporters at this time?
825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 08, 2023, 02:51:07 PM
Messi made the decision with full consideration, he had personal reasons for rejecting the lavish offer from Al Hilal. Many people predicted that Messi would follow Ronaldo to the Arab League, but he actually made a decision that surprised everyone after deciding to join Inter Miami.
Actually, Messi wants to return to Barcelona because it has a beautiful history there, but Barcelona has not made an official offer for Messi. Barcelona are worried they won't be able to register Messi if their proposal is accepted by Messi, because Barcelona will likely only be able to register Messi in August 2023. The complicated puzzle regarding the destination of Messi's new club has finally been solved, Messi has also proved to all football fans that he is not a player chasing big salaries.
Messi is the greatest football player in history in my opinion; he has already achieved everything. Nothing he has accomplished for this sport will change if he moves to play in the US. Even though I think that Messi still had the talent to play in Europe and that it will be unusual to watch him outside of Europe, it's not a disgrace and it won't lessen the respect he has gained. But in the end, many people are being a little hypocritical when they claim that we should admire Messi for choosing to play in the US while mocking and criticizing CR7 for choosing to represent Saudi Arabia.
826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe are physical exchanges in your neighborhood. on: June 07, 2023, 10:08:03 PM
Now my worries is that, this singular act has driven alot of fear to some low-key bitcoin holders in my neighborhood  even myself and there are shops I hope in town that operate physical exchanges.
~Do you think those dealers are safe?

Do you mean people who operate peer-to-peer? If this is what you mean, the personal security of an individual is his sole responsibility no matter where you find yourself. Individuals who offer p2p services do not need live a lavish lifestyle. Stay anonymous and operate anonymously. Follow basic security tips for both online and offline transactions.

~And what's the fate  of physical  cryptocurrency exchanges(r) in your country?

Let's  discuss
For now, everything is safe until one governemnt official somewhere decides that they do not understand bitcoin and want it ban.
827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A good way to help our children. on: June 06, 2023, 09:12:48 PM
Our children will not be as lucky as we are, we have to help them to know about bitcoins on time so they can have some for themselves. What do you think?

We are missing the point if we count helping our kids know about bitcoin as "lucky". Bitcoin is just a digital currency that eliminate the need for a middleman. That is basically it. The real deal is learning about how to create this digital tool or anything that the mind can imagine through tech. Bitcoin in the next 100 years may become obsolete the next generation that will be counted as lucky are those who create it. Satoshi coded bitcoin in c++. Those who sit to make a consensus about bitcoin are all developers and programmers. Our kids need to learn a tech skill for the future.

828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are giving too much importance to exchanges on: June 06, 2023, 08:51:14 PM
6 months ago, my savings went down because of the FTX debacle. I've never used FTX, I've never been a customer of this company, but my savings are in BTC, and because of that failure, BTC's value went down, and so went my savings.

Sorry that your savings went down, we all experienced it but then those who held eventually had their savings back up. Binance and Coinbase issues with the SEC is just like a political witch-hunting. Since they can't directly pull down bitcoin, have to do so through another means. We are not just here for the good times; we are also here for the not so good times too. Binance and Coinbase may go down which is very unlikely, but bitcoin will not. Never.

Just a friendly reminder to take out your coins from exchanges.
829  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance crisis - how will it affect the crypto market? on: June 06, 2023, 04:54:47 PM
These and many other negative news stories, about the world's largest exchange, have been in the air for months. Question:
- In your opinion, is this a consequence of increased pressure on China by the U.S.?
- What will the problems of Binance lead to for crypto market and crypto users?
I may not or may not be able to answer your question directly but would like to note some few things from the allegations. We have all read the news first it was Binance and today Coinbase. I see this as witch-hunting and a precursor to crypto regulation. Did Binance and Coinbase actually break the rules? I have yet to see any statement from them. If this is actually true then I am really pissed that they weren't so meticulous in learning and obeying the laws in other countries. There is no cause for alarm or any need to panic by the news, bitcoin, Binance and Coinbase will survive this.
830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unique sentence in Spain: judge rules that a debt must be paid in Bitcoin, not € on: June 06, 2023, 04:33:52 PM
This is simply a case of you I lend you in bitcoin, you repay your loan in bitcoin. Nothing else. This is justice. It would have been very unfair or unjust if the lender was required by the court to accept their loan repayment in Euros. The debtor probably converted the bitcoins to Euros and wanted to play smart.

Other the other hand what does this judgement tells us: Bitcoin is being recognized and soon enough we would have it being discussed in the law schools and even see concrete laws passed on it that pertains to individual possession, lending, and repaying.

832  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you spend more-do you get more? on: June 05, 2023, 05:02:44 PM
Yes this opinion is correct. Of you spend more money on investments or buying assets you'll get more money in return. More money brings in more money and it never ends. More money attracts more money. You you are poor or have limited opportunities find a way to expand and put yourself in a situation where the opportunities will never cease coming in. And you have Bitcoin to make that happen for you. Even if you haven't invest a huge money in it, just being active in the community and open opportunities for you. On the side people who create new projects with their money, do it so that that project can bring in more money for them.
833  Economy / Economics / Re: Why you should use spare money to invest on: June 05, 2023, 04:43:08 PM

Is better to use small money or learn risk management first before investing especially newbies.

There's spare money that is small money and there are big monies that are also spare money. What if I have have small money that is not spare money since the risk is low I can still go ahead to invest in Bitcoin. Because it is small money and it is something I can afford to lose despite it not being spare money. If I have big money that is spare money but I cannot afford to lose all at once. The best way will be for me to divide the money into smaller sums/amounts and invest in Bitcoin a given time of my choice.
834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Early Bitcoin Transaction Fees on: June 05, 2023, 04:22:42 PM
Last week, I wrote about the first bitcoin website in 2009. I mentioned that during that time, money could be sent either through the recipient's IP address or their Bitcoin wallet address. For those who used it back then, can you recall if there were any transaction fees? For example when Laszlo Hanyecz  paid 10,000 Bitcoins for two pizzas back in 2010 was there a transaction fee? Also, has the maximum number of transactions per day always been 100?

837  Economy / Economics / Re: For average Joe advice about money finances and Investment on: June 03, 2023, 04:59:24 PM
There is a lot going on about Money finances and Investment.
If you don't want to learn too much about finances and money then simple BUY/SELL rule Will keep you on track.
But If you are average person you should follow this one. The mainstream don't want you to know this that's why so much fud and FOMO.
So it's been proven o et the time over and over again.
When Fed rates up .... it's BUY
When Fed rates down it's SELL
In financial world money the currency is commoditie the asset so If Money expensive you sell it If Money cheap you buy it.
And people tend to make this simple mistakes over and over again covid19 times was good example of that.

What is the guarantee that you make profit if all you do is simply BUY/SELL. There is no businessperson who have just buys and sell without learning about money and the business. Unless you say they have a guide or a mentor in the same business who tells them when to buy and the appropriate time to sell.

Investments is more than just making BUY/SELL decisions.
838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The effect of Bitcoin on children on: June 03, 2023, 04:26:33 PM
It is art and children love art. They draw things they know and know recently but they even don't know what it means technically. Children are hungry to discover new things and if they have fun with new things, they love it.
Children loves art and whether the story is real or fictional, the core message the OP is trying to pass is that whatever you do have a way of influencing or rubbing off on those around you. This is the case with the kid in the OP's story. Now, if this is happening with the kids, I can say that his mother will also feel the bitcoin effect. For the father to get the kid interested in bitcoin, he could start by telling the kid to recreate the bitcoin logo as well as other cryptocurrency logos. This would be a great way to spark a conversation about bitcoin.
839  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Force Your Children to Learn Bitcoin on: June 03, 2023, 04:04:51 PM
I would say expose your children to financial literacy at a tender age. Expose them to the use of computers. Expose them to sports - football, basketball, swimming. Expose them to dancing and singing. Expose them to a lot of them. But teach them about personal finance and financial literacy. Break it down to their own level of understanding. In the same vein tell them about cryptocurrency and bitcoin. There are children's books for it. That way, they will grow up to be well rounded kids. And then, support whatever paths they choose to follow.
840  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will You Allow To Undergo Hypnosis If A Professional Recommend To Cure Gambling on: June 02, 2023, 09:43:12 PM
You want to get cured of compulsive gambling because you are too deep into it and you are under professional supervision to cure your addiction, your physician asks you to undergo hypnosis to cure your deep-rooted addiction, will you allow it

Yes / No Why

Quote
Hypnosis can be a powerful tool to treat gambling addiction because it can help people deal with the things they don’t want to deal with, and it can give them better and more productive ways to deal with those things other than gambling.

Would be cool if you dropped a link as to where it has been used or how it works. Or maybe a scientific article that examines the efficacy of such methods. Looking for it without any luck yet. Hopefully you'll return to elaborate on how it is supposed to help an addict. Real life example would be just what we need to get convinced. That way we may have the right to say whether it would work or not. As for question, no hyponsis please.
