801  Economy / Economics / Re: Getting an MBA before starting a company or directly starting a company? on: June 17, 2023, 07:19:15 PM
All the CEOs I know that have run successful companies didn't start out with an MBA. As a matter of fact MBAs require that you have some years of experience in the field of work. It is important because most of the things you will learn why getting an MBA will be stuff that are relatable to you field of work. For you to be able to contribute to the discussion you will need to draw case studies from your companies. Besides, I think MBA makes CEOs smarter and enable to create an enduring organization.
802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Lender Abra Has Been Insolvent for Months on: June 17, 2023, 06:49:47 PM
Wait is insolvency the same thing as bankruptcy in the crypto world?

Pretty sure there are people who knows the risk of keeping their crypto with these guys but then still go ahead to do it. They have their reasons and I do not blame them for it. It could be a way to make money or side hustle from these guys. They were prepared for this and willing bear the consequences.

As long as it is not my keys nor my coins, I wish those who still go ahead and leave their coins with these guys all the very best.
803  Economy / Economics / 85% of AI start-ups will fail within 3 years. on: June 16, 2023, 09:42:22 PM
This is an opinion piece. 85% of AI start-ups will fail within 3 years. Link to article. That's what they have said. But what do we think. We use the internet everyday and may even be using one or two AI tools to help us become organized, productive and efficient. Hundreds of AI start-ups are spring up everywhere everyday - while some are jumping in without due diligence some, some are doing it for the money while some others what to make an impact. The AI startups boom is compared to the dot-com bubble where a lot of them failed. Some AI start-ups are: Open AI, Frame AI, Jasper, Drafter AI, Smartly.ai.
What do you think, are we experiencing an AI startup boom like the dot-com bubble? And do you think that 85% of them will fail within 3 years?
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Without money, the knowledge is a waste on: June 16, 2023, 09:18:13 PM
I hope you realize that you don't always need to buy Bitcoin, for example, you and I earn BTC from joining a signature campaign, people can offer their services and ask to be paid in Bitcoin if they want to have Bitcoin and from there they can start saving/hodling some or all of the bitcoin they earned.
You may not have thought of it this way, but you actually need money to buy bitcoin. Indrectly of course.
Let me explain
- you need money to buy a smartphone or a laptop.
- you need money to buy internet plans from a provider to have access to the internet.
- after you have gotten these with money, then you can "earn BTC from joining a signature campaign or offer other services for bitcoin in return." So you see even if you have all the knowledge, you indirectly still need money to own bitcoin.
805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gift to wife on wedding. on: June 15, 2023, 11:51:12 PM
Although I still studied, I invested a small amount in Bitcoin. I will get married if I get a good job. Many people give many things to their wives as wedding gifts, I have a different plan. I am planning to gift bitcoin to my wife on her wedding day. Bitcoin is still illegal in my country so I invested with caution. On my wedding day I want to gift half of my investment to my wife.
Should I gift bitcoin to my wife? I want your advice
Bitcoin as a gift should be given to someone who asks for it. Maybe in one of your conversations your wife mentioned wanting Bitcoin as a gift then great,  it's likely that she knows about Bitcoin. But in the situation where she doesn't know anything about Bitcoin, then refrain from gifting her Bitcoin. In terms of giving gifts you should know that whatever gifts you are giving in Bitcoin should be an amount you can afford to lose. Right?
806  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Bot with smart algorithm Available on: June 15, 2023, 08:00:35 PM
This looks enticing but sorry no. Sadly some users on this forum would ignore the red flags in the comment section pink pointed out and would fall for this and lose a lot of money. When they lose a lot of money they won't have the guts to return and say it's because the trading bots they bought on the forum wasn't working. They'll just hide their heads in shame.

Newbies should even think about using trading bots. It is not the best way to learn and grow in your trading journey. But if you think you want to go ahead with this one look on the internet for honest and real reviews.
807  Economy / Economics / Re: Is poverty a lack of money? on: June 15, 2023, 07:41:58 PM

In summary when you have everything you need to survive and you don't need money, are you poor?
There is an economic psychological and religious definition of poverty. I believe the economic definition of poverty would be when your cost of living is higher than the standard of living. That is the individual is unable to afford the basic needs. This varies from one environment to another.

The psychological definition of poverty maybe an individual who is week in mind and cannot generate ideas to better dear economic condition. Therefore if you ask me I would say from the economic standpoint poverty is actually a lack of money and poverty from a psychological standpoint is a lack of ideas to generate money.
808  Economy / Economics / Re: The cost of living is trying to kill the living on: June 14, 2023, 07:47:33 PM
Everybody must learn to cut their cost of living by all means. Learning addition skills and securing extra jobs might be another means of overcoming this hard life. The government must also make policies that will help alleviate the suffering of the masses.
Financial experts would always advice to live below your means. And I agree with them. Some individuals do not need a car. They know it is costing them too much every month for repairs, maintenance, and all but they still own one. They can actually take the bus, tram, or train to work which would be cost effective, but they want to drive a car. This is an example of what increases the cost of living. Another point is that if you have small kids and can't afford money for their school, they can be home schooled by either you or your spouse. It saves you money too. They can return to school when it is most crucial. These are some strategies to cut costs. It cost of living isn't going down anytime soon and we must adapt and make pretty smart choices.
809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 14, 2023, 07:25:20 PM
I've seen several threads where people preach teaching bitcoin to kids and I've also seen threads where others talked about having  some savings(investments) in bitcoin  for their kids which is right.

We share different opinions on this subject matter. I see nothing wrong in giving kids intro to cryptocurrency. Would be a shame if an individual who is a fan of bitcoin and has invested in it, doesn't have kids who have the slightest idea of cryptocurrency. Anyone who is ashamed to have their kids know at least the basics of what it is must be using cryptocurrency for fraud or something illegal.

Quote
Just as my topic reads, we should stop stressing  kids with wanting them do things we didn't meet up doing and at some points getting them mentally stressed.
I do not know how you define stress in the situation but I feel that kids from 10 years of age should learn about cryptocurrency. It is digital money and even more. The do not need to start reading charts or those complicated stuff they just need to know.

Quote
I will suggest that, rather than bore them with the history of bitcoin,  why not get a portfolio for them and keep investing in it and watch it grow with them and when they're of age, then you can practically  show them the needful.

This is basically the summary of my response. You hit the nail on the head with this last paragraph.
810  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Risk management on: June 14, 2023, 04:07:08 PM
If you don't manage your risk management properly, you will never be successful because risk management is the most important aspect of trading. But my personal experience is a little different in that you have to learn how to manage all your money very well. There are many people who want to do good things but there are so many wrong decisions in money and life management that they can't get good results despite their efforts.
As traders, there is an amount of money we are comfortable losing and there are some we just can afford to lose. The most important things I learned from risk management are risk tolerance which refer to the amount of money you are willing to risk on one specific trade. Then, I also learned which is followed from the first is how to effectively and correctly initiate stop loss orders to prevent losses. Lastly, learning how to calculate my position size very quickly. Any newbie who can get a grasps on these strategies and be able to implement it, they are sure to have a good trading journey.
811  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: June 14, 2023, 03:42:01 PM
What you have in your pocket will determine the answer.
You should consider how much you would pay annually if you planned to rent the apartment for four years. Keep in mind that inflation might happen at any time, at which point the landlord may decide to raise the apartment's rent. However, if you decide to purchase a home, it could be challenging at first to pay for the house's price and other connected costs, but once you do, the home is yours forever. Instead of working against you, inflation will benefit you because if you decide to sell the apartment when prices are rising, you'll get a lot more money for it.
812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We the Bitcoin Enthusiasts, How can we Safequard our Holdings in Turbulent Times on: June 14, 2023, 02:52:28 PM
How might the closure of a prominent cryptocurrency exchange like Binance affect investors confidence in the broader crypto market, and what steps do you think enthusiasts can take to safeguard their investments in such situations? Please share tips.

I'm thinking about closing my key positions for the time being.
Currently, the FUD and all the pressure is on Binance I think what would actually happen to bitcoin if the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance goes down which hopefully won't happen but you never know so firstly keep your coins off of custody platforms as best you can just in case because why wouldn't you it's written all over the walls that that's the best practice to have.
Should anything happen to Binance, there's lots of other centralized exchanges that would be happy to service all the people.

814  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Gambling is different from trading on: June 10, 2023, 08:12:33 PM
The OP is right in trading, with proper knowledge, analysis, and strategy development, one can potentially build an edge over time and make more money than they lose. However, this is not the case in most casino games, where the house has the edge and players are expected to lose over time.

If you gamble you may have noticed that in some casino games like blackjack, counting cards can give players an edge, but casinos may kick them out if they become too successful. In trading, there are no restrictions on using one's skills to develop an edge and trade profitably.

Both trading and gambling require dedication, understanding of the game or market, risk management, and sufficient capital. However, the majority of people tend to lose money in both activities, with a small percentage achieving consistent profits.
815  Economy / Economics / Re: How do banks generate income? on: June 10, 2023, 07:16:47 PM
How do they make money?
* mortgage - using some billionaires account to buy housing properties and leasing them
* estate and lands with same patterns
* SMS alert charges
* Transfer charges
* Syphons dormant accounts or dead people accounts that are inactive with enough money in it.
* ATM and investment cards
* sales of currencies like dollar to naira
* preparation of international documents
* savings people's valuables like gold, certificate, court documents, WILLS, and so on.

This is what makes financial institutions very wealthy.

From everything that you have listed, it is obvious that the summary is of how banks generate income is through other people's money. That is how financial institutions stay wealthy. They use other people's money, invest in businesses and make a massive ROI. Banks don't have money of their own.  In addition, if you have ever taken out a loan from a bank, you'd be amazed by how high the interest rate is. It's crazy. This is another way they generate income. Other people's money and high interest rate sums it all.
816  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How do I secure my wallet on: June 10, 2023, 05:15:08 PM
during my research I was recommended to use electrum wallet but I was confused if electrum wallet is an exchange or a custodial wallet, therefore i need a good direction, clarification and update of suitable wallet from senior colleagues.
This is such a great question you have asked. And since you mentioned Electrum wallet, another user has recommended it. I second that. Permit me to go further and provide you with some user experience.

I have been using electrum wallet for my Bitcoin storage for the past couple of years and no time have I encountered any issues. I love the regular software updates it gets, meaning that you are sure of having the latest security patch and bugs or malware trying to steal your funds. During the time Bitcoin experienced next congestion where the transaction fee was pretty high and I was able to use the fee customization feature which helped to a degree.  I don't have the mobile version of the wallet but I totally recommend the desktop version. I also love the multiple address options too. There are also hardware wallets too. Since I do not have experience using any of them, I'll let other users share review.
817  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are your most effective crypto trading strategies? on: June 09, 2023, 08:48:49 PM

Questions to consider:

1: What trading strategies have worked for you in the past?
2: How do you manage risk when trading cryptocurrencies?
3: What are some indicators or tools that you use to inform your trading decisions?
4: How do you deal with market volatility and sudden price swings?
5: How do you set your buy and sell orders?
6: What advice do you have for new traders who are just starting out?

In trading world there’s always something to learn, it is very important that you calculate how much you are risking rather than just increasing and decreasing leverage . It is therefore paramount that you are able to study risk management before opening your position. That is why for scalping you need calculation. If you go for a 2.1 ratio which doesn't make sense to me. Even if you win the trade you would need more practice to understand risk management. And instead you can open a short position or can wait for a reversal.
818  Economy / Economics / Re: SEC is in Action After Suing Binance, Here Comes Coinbase Exchange on: June 09, 2023, 06:58:48 PM
While the US lacks explicit registration regulations for cryptocurrency exchanges, Hong Kong does. In the US, Coinbase and Binance have been operational for several years. To conduct business in the US, they must have registered somewhere. The SEC has now awoken and said that they were not properly or not properly registered. For these companies to adhere to, SEC must first establish precise registration regulations similar to those in Hong Kong. Having said that, three days ago when I heard the news, I took the remaining Bitcoin out of Coinbase and transferred it to my own wallet. However, I'm comfortable leaving all of my other holdings there. Coinbase and Binance, in my opinion, will triumph.
819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CBDC competing with bitcoin on: June 09, 2023, 06:41:03 PM
Central Bank digital currencies can never be a limitation to the growth of bitcoin, bitcoin possess that special uniqueness that no currency can be in a competition with. Central Bank digital currencies was made because of hatred to be like bitcoin.
Bitcoin is unstoppable. If you have to list bitcoin top competitors, the Central Bank digital currencies is not even in the top 10.  I feel that the Central Bank digital currencies adjust a waste of resources and time hardly any citizen of any country that has implemented the Central Bank digital currency uses it. Even in most countries where they already have a Central Bank digital currency it is even considered as a project that has failed. This is because it has failed to reach its goal of adoption by the masses.

The CBDC is a spycoin. I used to think that 90% of the public will choose CBDCs out of convenience, trading their most precious resource, their time, for shackles but from my analysis of it's usage, I am wrong. And I like that I was wrong.
