Too bad the New Wealthy Gentlemen Elite thread is closed.

Feels like bitcoiners (and some crypto people) are assuredly about to become the new financial overlords.

Not sure if you're ready, but its happening.

Didn't know that thread was closed, that was my favourite thread before the WO.
When did that happen, and why?
682  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 29, 2021, 01:11:35 AM
as well as everyone else in the same boat. cuz waiting for a charge at some charging station miles away from home just aint gonna happen.

And, of course, having a driveway of your own you can charge in is far from the rule in any case. A rarity in many cities.

never thought of those who only have on street parking. cables snaking everywhere.. not

i just cant see the existing power grid is gonna handle double (?) the power when everything (heat/transport) is electric.

now i do like electric stuff; i have a battery powered chainsaw, trimmer and week wacker for light yard stuff (with gas chainsaws and weedwacker for heavier stuff) and i love the near zero maintenance that electrics have. but once nearly all consumer stuff is electric.. is our grid gonna hold? no one seems to talk about that? or is our grid actually capable now and im worrying about nothing?

No it's not. I think the politicians got caught by surprise by how fast everything is suddenly moving towards "everything electric".

The Swedish grid, in the south where I live, is on the verge of collapsing already. The greens, who are in government with the soc. dem. have closed two nuclear reactors in the south, and there is not enough capacity in the cables to transfer enough from the north, where there is a surplus of hydro power.
On top of that the hydro dams are only half full because of lower than expected rainfall in the north. And it hasn't been very windy this summer either, so no help from the wind turbines.
Import of (expensive) electricity from continental Europe and Denmark has saved the situation so far, but now they too are running low.
One hard cold spell and it all might just crash.
I'm hoping for a mild winter, and during the coming summer I'm getting solar panels and a big battery, and a new and better wood burner and a big pile of fire wood.

I'm looking at this nice piece of wood burner.  https://www.qvesarum.se/produkter/kaminer-och-spisar/nytillverkade-kaminer-och-vedspisar/royal-viking-svart/

Edit:
When I first looked at that burner some five years ago it cost like 37000 SEK, now it's 50000 SEK, with this kind of inflation we will have people begging in the streets just to survive soon.
Well we already have people begging, but that's professional beggars from Romania and Bulgaria, I'm talking about Swedish low low income people.

Birth of the Hats was a special thing….

The start was with my RL bull and Bear Hats on a holiday, then I think Hairymaclairy posted something and xhomerx10 made him a bull hat of his own…..

These where awesome times at the WALL

Yes and the return of CHARTBUDDY was massive

No it wasn't.

I should add that my post had no link in it, it was basically just a copy/paste of my and fillippones suggestions.

I just deleted my other comment, it didn't add anything and I also used my real name in it, just so you don't think You tube did that too.
686  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 28, 2021, 11:59:08 AM
Price going up yo.
687  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 28, 2021, 11:52:39 AM
Maybe I should also add that I have posted many links to shapeways and Thingiverse in other videos (not bitcoin related) that has not been deleted, however, a link to battery acid on Amazon.se was deleted (on a video about restoring car batteries). Weird indeed.

Great ideas so far, thanks guys! Gotta do some research Smiley

Thanks for that! The WO is already mentioned in some of the upcoming videos and there's a dedicated video upcoming about the Wall Observer thread. Anything special you guys want to see featured, something that we definitely shouldn't miss?
Feel free to reply in the show's thread so we won't go too OT here. Thanks!

not sure where the rollarcoaster guy gif came from so maybe not WO but that meme sums btc up so appropriately it needs a shout out at the very least.
Yeah, there's a gif of the rollercoaster guy in the first episode already Cheesy

Edit. I put yours and my suggestions in the comments.

Hm, seems like he deleted my contribution in the you tube comments. The only contribution at that, not a good start.

Weird. Didn't delete any comments, there's just one reply. In the notifications looks like there was another comment, but it doesn't show up.
Here's a thread about Youtube deleting comments containing links, including Bitcointalk references: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5365512
We should test that out.

I see, maybe you should use Bitchute or some similar platform instead, it's gonna be hard to run a bitcointalk channel on a platform that deletes everything bitcointalk.

This is actually a nice one!
What are the most iconic WO moment?
I think I am quite new here, but I can think a few of those:
  • The births of the hats
  • @Mindtrust selling
  • @BobLawblaw ragquit with epic post deletion
  • @El duderino_ drunk dickpic
  • SOON (TM) @Proudhon paying his bet to Fillippone

Merit shower to the one who’s able to link the above post!

What is your top-5?

El Duderinos contests.

The guess where I am/what this is games.

The Sunday haikus.

Edit. I put yours and my suggestions in the comments.

I regularly read this thread but today I wanted to share some news with you guys - see in second half of my post. But first, I want to introduce you to an indicator I discovered recently and I think it's greatly valuable.
I haven't really seen anyone here talking about Long Term Holder SOPR (Spent Output Profit Ratio) which is really useful on-chain indicator for predicting severe corrections before they happen. That's my contribution for today, I hope someone will find it useful.
It's available on Glassnode and CryptoQuant: https://cryptoquant.com/overview/btc-market-indicator/16442?window=day
When the ratio goes up (above 9 is considered warning), considerable amount of Bitcoin moved out from long term HODL wallets, meaning some whales are preparing to sell on exchanges and price correction is very likely.

And now the happy news from my life. I bought the dip yesterday, just hours after my little brother Miha was born. I decided to give some Bitcoin as a gift for Miha. And the date of the first transaction is his birthday which is really cool, right?
I wonder how much it's going to be worth in 10 or 20 years. Never too early to start investing Cheesy
Here is his vanity address if you feel generous today and want to gift him a few sats: 3Miha3LSkHrtioPfgismPCQ6KfUa4wzPu1
I promise I will not touch this address. Ever. I will teach him all about Bitcoin when he's old enough.
Have a wonderful day WO gang!!

Congratulations!

FFS, I just renewed my electricity contract, I only buy on a one year basis. This year I have been paying the equivalent of 58 USD a month, next year I will be paying 175 USD, and that is just to the producer, at least another 50 to 100 USD, depending on how much I use, to the company that owns the cables and in taxes comes on top of that.
Good thing I'm not poor anymore, but what about all those poor souls that live on a paycheck to paycheck basis, how are they gonna afford this shit.

Basically I'm going from 5 USD to 20 USD per kWh before tax and transfer fees. In the end, with tax and fees, its about twice as much.

Of topic? this is the WO, you have to work really hard to be of topic here (or mention vaccination, that is for some reason taboo).

I couldn't believe it but GoldPrice.org confirms it: Gold is worth less than it was 10 years ago!
Considering how crazy the entire economy is, anything from stock market to supply chains and central banks pumping inflation, I would have expected many people to flee into gold already.

PlanB tweeted the other day something similar:

https://twitter.com/100trillionUSD/status/1453006360568811531?s=20

As you can see, GOLD Valuation barely moved during last 10 years.. purple dots are almost impossible to distinguish from each other.
While BTC is catching up.

Well, to be honest, gold has never been anything but a very good store of value.
I read somewhere that a good cow in the roman empire, medieval Europe and today cost about the same in gold.
So it's a good hedge against inflation but it won't make you any richer.

Proudhon was right. Game over now.

No more whores and Lambos.

Oh well, back to the old right hand and step scooter.

It is what it is.

So you control the mouse with you left hand?

I just read that Tesla is number one on the list of most sold cars in Europe for September, the firs time a non European car has the first place, and also the first time an electric car has the first place.
I also read that they got a order for 100 000 cars from some US entity.
I wouldn't count them out just yet.

That sounds suspicious. Tesla just isn't capable of the volume of other car manufacturers. Not saying that it isn't true but that it deserves closer inspection.

It's Hertz apparently. https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Tesla-Receives-Worlds-Single-Largest-EV-Order-Of-100000-Cars.html
698  Economy / Speculation / Re: US government has secretly hit Google with 'keyword warrants' to identify ANYONE on: October 27, 2021, 03:14:27 AM
I've stopped using Google as a search engine on the consumer side. My default now has been duckduckgo for awhile, maybe the past 5 years or so. Try it. Set all your browsers on all your devices to use the duck and just delete or remove google. You won't miss it.

Indeed. I remember living Google's motto of "Don't be evil". Their advantage over Altavista and Jeeves and such was a very quick clean page, honest data without insane pay to play weighting, and a pretty good culture of privacy. Now they have none of that and are just another yahoo/altavista shit site.

Still, it was interesting to see them lock out TOR end nodes. Which as I said now makes sense as they are just another Organ of the State. :-)

There is a long way work-around if you insist on using sites that don't like Tor end nodes, that is to use another node after Tor (like a VPN or some other VPS site RDP or whatever). But in the case of Google as a search engine, I don't bother as I've simply stopped using it. There are a few non-bitcoin forums (on proboards and such) that don't like Tor end nodes, so I use my work VPN (which I know is tracked by my company, but better them than whoever else.) Not that I don't want to use my own ip for that particular forum, but out of habit, as I've either always used Tor or something else or was in another country altogether.

Unlike, for example, this forum, bitcointalk, which is always over Tor, again out of habit, and because I have no issues with it here, mostly.

I too use the duck, but I have noticed that they are not very good on picture search, I almost always have to switch to Google to get the picture I'm looking for. The same goes for tutorials, the duck rarely finds the Youtube tutorial I'm looking for, but Google usually nails it.

Tesla: irrelevant in the long run. Everyone and their dogs are making electric or at least hybrid cars already. Let Tesla turn into Netscape.

China: very relevant in the long run. I hope their last-and-totally-un-undoable-bitcoin-ban hits them where it hurts. Give it time, and it sure will.

Tesla's market is probably in the software (and as has been pointed out perhaps also battery and charge network).
I could see EVs running off Tesla's EV operating system or something like that and you pay them for charging.
Having said that if you can run an EV for 300miles on a charge I doubt I would have to charge it away from home much, maybe a couple of times per year tops.

After all the crap Musk pulled I'm more curious to see what Subaru comes up with their Solterra.

I like to not feel as if my bare ass is grinding on the ground at 80mph. Our roads are terrible in the UK. I doubt a Tesla would cut it beyond the motorways with regards to comfort.

Their too cheap to add air / (or any decent) suspension to their 1 BTC cars. Fuck that and their China-esque leader.

"We like BTC - we don't like BTC - we like BTC - we don't like BTC."

Make up your fucking mind.

All joking aside, I have been giving considerable thought to how I am going to handle this bull run of my first cycle.
As many of you know, I didn't actually get onboard until late June of this year. I have since been consistently buying every week from my DCA amount. And in the midst I have done a little dabbling (J1G would call it gambling) with various "shitcoins" to take advantage of short term gains to be invested into BTC. I have consistently accumulated approximately 30% more BTC than the market price I invested, and at this point am at a bit over 100% profit. But, realistically, it's nothing. So I'm leaning heavily towards an attempt to DCA out to the top and then buy back after the crash with my profits. First sale at $98k would be the smallest and last sale at $249k the biggest leaving me with a little less than 10% of my current bag but nearly 100x in profits. If all works perfectly and we see 60% dip after a $250k top, I would be a whole coiner by my 1 yr BTC anniversary date. Even if it tops at any point below $249k but above $100k I would still be well on my way to whole coin status by end of year 2022. Only way I lose is A) it shoots up significantly higher than $300k and never drops back below $200k OR if it ends up in a super-cycle that never comes back. Either way, I'm still up significantly in Fiat, but will be back to ground zero in BTC accumulation. But considering I've only got 6 mos. of weekly DCA's invested, I just don't see the downside as being anywhere near the potential or even likely upside. Regardless of the outcome, I still continue my weekly DCA for the next 10 years, but if my bet pays off, I continue as a whole coiner. If it doesn't I just continue as a low coiner.

Open to thoughts and criticism, but can't honestly say I'll change my course based on it.

-Cope

That's my strategy too, my plan is to park my fiat money in solid stocks, like Ericsson, for the coming bear year. (the bottom seams to come a year after the blow of top).
