Installed it but dont like it.

After the install it showed 0 DGB balance and the GUI looks like an alpha from Win 3.1

Thank you for testing!

It does not use your existing wallet.dat file from DigiByte core. It is a completely separate wallet system.

We agree visually it is a bit lacking. We plan to implement the MultiBit HD functionality & a gui update once released. This will allow for deterministic seed phrases in are iOS wallet to eventually be shared with DigiBit HD and the web wallet we are developing for DigiByte. This is all part of our plan to make it much easier for new beginners to start using DigiBytes.

So what are DEVs doing recently?

We would be glad for everyone to help us test DigiBit!

Introducing ★★ DigiBit★★  v0.1.0

This wallet is still being tested, please transfer small amounts at first until we officially release it.
This is a completely separate wallet system that uses a "digibit.wallet" file

What is DigiBit? DigiBit is a DigiByte port of the MultiBit Bitcoin wallet. The key advantage of DigiBit is it does not require a new user to download the entire DigiByte chain. It syncs with the network by downloading the block headers only very quickly. Just as satoshi specified in the original white paper (simplified payment verification).

Quote
MultiBit is a secure, lightweight, international Bitcoin wallet for Windows, MacOS and Linux

MultiBit makes performing Bitcoin transactions quick and simple
MultiBit comes in a variety of languages because Bitcoin is without borders
MultiBit is free to download and is open source (MIT license)
MultiBit is easy to install
https://multibit.org/

Download the OSX DMG Wallet here: http://www.digibyte.co/sites/digibyte.co/files/digibit-0.1.0.dmg

Download Windows Wallet here: http://www.digibyte.co/sites/digibyte.co/files/digibit-0.1.0-windows-setup.exe

GitHub Source: https://github.com/digibyte/digibit

Edit:
DigiBit uses a file named "digibit.wallet" located in the C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\DigiBit folder under app settings very similar to DigiByte core wallet.

That file needs to be backed up just like wallet.dat for core.
723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Open Letter To The Digital Currency Community on: December 12, 2014, 08:34:14 AM

@Digibyte, you had about two weeks to prove me wrong and demonstrate the investment is real. The fact that you have kept deathly silent and are just depending on a dishonest moron to defend you says a lot of your values.

EyesWideOpen,

Thank you for taking your time to research, question & discern the truth behind our investment. We all know the crypto world has been rife with scams, liars and other nefarious bad actors.

Please understand that after a couple years of dealing with these message boards & bad actors we have grown tired of following every post or message that distracts us from our end goal and long term vision for the future success of DigiByte. It appears we have not followed this particular thread as closely as we should have as we have been busy working & getting things done.

In short the investment was made by a single private angel investor (not TofuGear) to create two privately held companies that will be building usable infrastructure around the DigiByte network. However, this also means part of the investment is being used to strengthen the open source protocol & to further develop DigiByte. No DigiBytes were sold so there was no "ICO" "IPO" or what ever its being called these days.

Private investments occur all the time without disclosure in the global business world. Due to NDA's with other companies we are working with as well as our investor we are not able to disclose more at this time. Also, it makes no sense for us to reveal strategic details & plans before we are fully ready to implement and deploy them.

For all we know, you could even be one of the anonymous people behind this coin. At the very lest, we know you are a bagholder by your ridiculously spirited defense of this 'investment'.

We have never hidden anything about DigiByte or where it came from or who has worked on it. I myself, Jared Tate, the creator of DigiByte have been publicly known since the beginning of DigiByte. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn here: https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=324950755&trk=nav_responsive_tab_profile_pic

Also, check out our presentation from the New York convention last April: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkWVD8MJlS0

The two companies we have created are: DigiPay LLC of Delaware & Digitrade International of Hong Kong and have been registered with the State of Delaware and the Hong Kong government accordingly. Each are freely accessible by searching each jurisdictions records.

If you have more questions about the integrity of DigiByte please stop by here and read the full, unedited history of DigiByte for yourself to draw your own conclusions: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408268.0

In summary if you have not read the original press release that was properly vetted by Coindesk and others, let me re-post it:

Quote
The DigiByte Team is pleased to announce the opening of two new companies and offices representing their full suite of products & services: DigiPay LLC of Santa Monica, California and DigiTrade International Limited of Hong Kong. With a private investment made for USD $250,000, the DigiByte Team now has the financial backing to build software and services around the DigiByte core protocol and bring DigiByte further into the digital and real world markets.

Through a strategic partnership with Tofugear Limited of Hong Kong, the DigiByte Team has now expanded to developing solutions in a global operation, to meet the ever-changing demands of the consumer.  In collaboration with Tofugear Limited’s strategic retail, wholesale and technical development partnerships, the DigiByte core protocol is currently being developed into a range of solutions that will revolutionize the consumer’s daily life.

DigiByte (DGB) is a rapidly growing worldwide professional decentralized payment network.  The DigiByte Development team holds offices in USA and Hong Kong, with community developers spanned globally.  DigiByte allow you to move money more securely over the internet similar to PayPal and Western Union, but with many improvements, including lightning fast transactions with minimal or no fees.  Users send and receive DigiBytes to or from any DigiByte address in the world in a matter of seconds, with no required sign up, registration, or hidden fees.

Please feel free to checkout the Tofugear website here: http://www.tofugear.com/
Their company registration is also on file with the Hong Kong government.

We know who we are, we know what we are working toward and we have been honest and transparent about that for over 11 months now. It makes no sense for us to work full time on this project for a year, make public appearances at several digital currency events, partner with a real world company only to "fake" an announcement.

Thanks again for asking questions and we encourage everyone to do their own research and make their decisions accordingly. We have several irons in the fire & a lot of development work going on. We have some very exciting things in store!

At the end of the day we believe whole heartedly in the potential crypto currencies offer to everyone on the planet. We are working hard each & every day to help bring this potential into the real world. We are all in this together and as such we would like to offer a warm & friendly welcome to everyone who reads this to come join the DigiByte community! We are in this for the long haul!

Cheers! -Jared

This is great news for everyone. We could very well be approaching the tipping point toward main stream adoption. If Google jumps on board its pretty well going to be un stoppable and we will see another huge jump.

Good to see the fork went off without a hitch. Win64 wallet is running great.

I'm a big fan of digibyte and would love to see an updated video from jared outlining whats happening now and whats next for digibyte.
The hard fork is a perfect time to release a vid. Jared could begin with the reasoning behind the fork then segue into new offices(digipay) & the future plans.

If we want to reach the masses we need to utilize main stream media channels Smiley

Yup this would be a great time... I don't need him to be on here everyday but this would be a great time for a video

I heartily agree with you guys, but he might be waiting for the 1 year anniversary. I'd say do both, even if, or perhaps especially since they'd be close in time and would serve to support and build on each other. A video now, and another one on the first birthday!

(Will it be an anniversary or a birthday? Huh )

Flex those muscles and capitalize with some hot PR.

Edit:

Okay, if I were the producer, director, I'd get an auditorium (or a very big room), create an everything black backdrop, and put up a white board on the opposite side of the stage from the lectern, a large light, bright Power Point presentation in the middle, and Jared telling us about what's going on and how it all relates to DigiByte's long term strategic vision.

Thank you all for the suggestions! We will see what we can put together. Smiley

on OP page Updated DigiByte Exchanges, Block Explorers, Games & Other Links

we have the wheel game now you should add it on the list  Grin

Getting things updated! We apologize for the delay.

We also wanted to post a link to this website: https://www.coingecko.com/en

It seems to be a much more fair assessment of a coins true potential & ranking that includes several factors.

Stumbled across this one...

729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Protocol Protection & Moratorium Act on: December 10, 2014, 06:19:53 PM
Damn, that was unexpected! I guess schmoozing in Washington pays off after all..

Yeah we were trying to figure that one out ourselves. And as a former US Senate Page I would be proud to take responsibility. But I got out of that place back in 2005 as soon as I could.

I have a feeling Miss Perianne Boring might be the one to thank: http://www.coindesk.com/perianne-boring-regulators-will-decide-bitcoins-fate-within-18-months/

I had the pleasure to meet her in July at the NYC Digital Currencies for Bankers conference. She is doing an excellent job and we should all support her.

To CryptoLTD,

Thanks for the extra head of grey hair Smiley Thought we had the exact minute figured out, apparently 3 minutes can seem like an eternity. We tested, re-tested and tested again.

We will take a miscalulating block explorer any day of the week over a diff calc problem.

New difficulty code is performing as expected. Digiexplorer is correct minus the reward calculation.

Digihash.co is returning the appropriate block info minus reward calc (which was custom implemented ahead of time without advanced testing).

Cheers!

We have made it everyone! Thank you all for being here to make this moment exciting!

To everyone,

Digiexplorer.info was created by us. It is a fork of the BitPay Insight explorer. We attempted to make it read correctly ahead of time. But it currently is not reading correctly.

The fork occurred as expected. Please disregard digiexplorer for the next 24 hours while we patch it. In the mean time go to your core wallet and do this.

1) Help -> Debug Window -> Console
2) Type: getblockhash 400001
3) Copy hash: cc624c70aaa74f9ed28a714646600e9e23df7fc8ddef477de225f9b75f5cd390
4) getblock cc624c70aaa74f9ed28a714646600e9e23df7fc8ddef477de225f9b75f5cd390

Blocks are working as expected. Try this with other blocks.

Explorer is not working correctly. We are working on it. Network is good.
736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptocurrency Protocol Protection & Moratorium Act on: December 10, 2014, 08:54:53 AM
For those of you in the United States please contact your US Senators & Congressional Representatives and ask them to support this bill:

http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/BILLS-113hr5777ih/content-detail.html

This bill would be huge to support & foster the growth of cryptocurrencies in the United States! It puts a 5 year moratorium on any legislation restricting cryptocurrencies.

Quote
(a) Neither the Federal Government nor any State
or political subdivision thereof shall impose any statutory
restrictions or regulations specifically identifying and
governing the creation, use, exploitation, possession or trans-
fer of any algorithmic protocols governing the operation
of any virtual, non-physical, algorithm or computer source
code-based medium for exchange (collectively, ‘‘crypto-
currency’’ as defined herein) for a period beginning June
1, 2015, and extending five years after the enactment of
this Act (such period, the ‘‘moratorium period’’), except
for statutes already enacted and effective prior to the date
of enactment of this Act, and further suspending the en-
actment and effectiveness of any and all pending statutes
and regulations until the end of the aforementioned mora-
torium period, except as otherwise provided in this section.

We are about 8 hours from the hard fork. Make sure to update your wallet to v3.0.3 if you have not already.

Once we get through the hard fork and we make sure everything is running as expected we will be announcing some new development bounties to help get everyone more involved. These will includes, graphics, guides, translations and promo videos. So be thinking of DGB ideas while you are mining these last few easy blocks Smiley

I can do a german translation if needed. And I can publish an article on our german newspage.
This would be great!

Let us get through the hard fork, then let us all decided as a community the best way to describe & present exactly what DigiByte is. Then we can get a standard translation & description going for multiple languages.

Feel free to start describing exactly what DigiByte means to you and how you see the future of DigiByte evolving.

It is great to see Digitalcoin go multi-algo. Digitalcoin was one of the first alt-coins we mined. DGC has a great name and a lot of future potential. Cheers & best wishes!
