At what time can we except the new update ?

It will be much later today. We are testing the seed servers and a few other things. We will post links to the download & advertise it on here as well as Twitter /Facebook. Also the Mac wallet is giving us some issues.

Thank you all for your patience. Once we release the update we are planning on roughly two weeks time to allow all the exchanges & mining pools to update so we have a smooth transition.

One question how much premined DGB left?

there is no premine for a long time , most of the coins were given to the community at the begining  in way of giveaways and bounties

the devs got their own coins and pay from their own pockets if its necessary , check out the OP , everything is transparent

Thanks for clarifying.
Yes, there is no more pre-mine. It has been gone for awhile. We went broke keeping things afloat until now & we have finally received outside investment support. We are in this for the long term! We are in it to win it! Smiley

+1 Yes. We will be releasing the update this Saturday! Smiley

My timing couldn't be worse: I'm going on two weeks vacation starting Saturday. Smiley   Sad   Undecided

And it's going to be a complete getaway, with everything shut down, and only sporadic internet connections (headlines, Bitcoin Forum, e-mail . . . maybe, etc.) so I'm going to miss all the fun. The flipside is that once I'm back everything will be purring like a happy cat.

Good luck and best wishes for a successful rollout!

The algo change will get miners back on DigiByte, and I think that is paramount right now. Everything else with great care, lots of study and analysis, and even more due diligence.

I sure hope so...  I miss mining DGB. Something uniquely satisfying about getting thousands of something in your wallet each day, even if they aren't worth much right now, but the "what if?" factor is a powerful motivator! So, for the moment I am using NiceHash to rake in a few BTC but once the update is out I am ALL IN again with DGB mining.

This is a very valid point! This is why we feel multi-algo (not merge mined) DigiByte mining is the fairest and most attractive way to go. As such we have decided to finalize the update with Sha 246, Scrypt, Skein, Groestl & Qubit. Proven weighting with some tweaks. As well as a modified DigiShield re-targeting base.

Does anyone have any details on this new proposed "autoPOW" the Doge devs are talking about with the Litecoin merge? What do you all think about autoPOW multi-algo?

http://www.coindesk.com/dogecoin-allow-litecoin-merge-mining/

In general, there are two kinds of computer users in the world: those who want to work (and therefore want something that works), and those who want to develop (and therefore want something to troubleshoot). That’s tongue-in-cheek humor, but it’s basically true, some users love playing around with the latest technology, the most recent release, etc., and don’t mind [actually like] troubleshooting, and others want something that is guaranteed to work and don’t have the time or inclination to troubleshoot. It’s the difference between “stable” and “beta”.

AutoPOW multi-algo is beta. Which kind of computer user are you? Are you an IT thrill seeker, or a pragmatic, get-the-job-done-without-further-complications kind of user?

Of course, you could also fall into yet another category that could cause you to be interested in something beta, and I would call that desperation. In the article posted about DOGE, the two sub-headings are titled as follows:

  • Plan to save dogecoin
  • Dogecoin in ‘dire situation’, says Lee

There’s even another category we could create for someone interested in that kind of ‘adventure’ that might be best defined with the inclusion of the quote at the end of the article:

  • [The community] can focus on what dogecoin does best (tipping, donations, wow) instead of worrying about defensive mining and network security.”

I’ll let readers put their own name on that category.   Cheesy

To summarize, I don’t like the idea. I think it’s just another gimmick for losers. A very bad idea - but that's just me. Wink

Let me just finish with a question: if you’ve got a winner, why on earth would you want to join up with someone else in a “dire situation”? A winner stands on his/her own two feet. I say go with a proven winner - the known, stable and proven version that needs to be finally implemented correctly. Who do you want to share victory with? And why? Smiley

Add: I just saw that neuroMode has an article being published by CoinBrief tomorrow titled: "Multi-vPoW: Myriadcoin's Solution to Parasitic Merge-Mining". I'm looking forward to seeing how he argues that! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483515.msg8193318#msg8193318

HR,

As always, beautiful insight. You have a way with words to put things very concisely in a pragmatic manner. We have arrived at the conclusion that what is tried & true is the best course of action in this modern crypto business. Why re-invent the wheel when it is already circular and rolls down the road to success just fine? Smiley

Come on Jared, are you serious? We've talked enough about merged mining weeks ago. Now just release the multi-algo update and stop thinking about other solutions and other algos every day. Please. Enough talk, enough brainstorming. Time for results Wink

This is a very interesting move. It would be nice to find how how much they sold it for.

Also today VISA announced they could facilitate Bitcoin payments on their network.

Jared,
Can you provide an update as to where the multi algo and block fix is?

Kind Regards,
YC

I have never had any wallet sync issues since coin inception...  but today I am stuck at 7 hours behind  Huh  I've only really noticed as I bought a substantial amount on Mintpal and although they've turned up, they are stuck at Pending.

Client reports it has 8 active connections...    any ideas?

We are working on putting the finishing touches on it. We are shooting for Thursday.

As to the non syncing issue. It is normal when it has been a few hours between blocks. This will be cleared up with the update. Your wallet is still talking to the network.

Any details on what's causing the delay?  Will we find out ahead of time which algos have been chosen or do we need to wait for Thursday ?
The original Digishield code goes back 1 block. When multiple blocks are found just a second or two apart it causes the difficulty to skyrocket artificially high. This is now easily manipulated with Scrypt ASICs. We will be fixing this with the update and allowing DigiShield to average the previous 10 blocks to prevent the issue.

We are making a final decision on the algos later today/tonight and will let everyone know.

I thought HR suggested a more distributed payout based on each algo. Not sure which way Jared and team are going yet.

YC

That's right, basically because the "adjusted difficulties" don't even come close to getting the job done, as I see it anyway.

Here's that post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408268.msg7954541#msg7954541 (The only thing that wasn't adapted to DGB was the total block reward figures, but the rough percentage breakdowns between algo rewards would basically be the same.)

Here's something else - completely unrelated - that's perhaps easier on the eyes, takes much less time to digest, and is probably much more fun . . . as I was having a little fun with it myself. Smiley

Interesting chart & information! Thanks for sharing!

Is there currently a WORKING DigiByte pool? I would love to mine a few while waiting on the multi-algo release...

We just updated the DGB wesbite & first page of this thread. It appears some pools as well as exchanges have went down. Please let us know if we missed anything or need to add additional information. We want the thread & site to be up to date. We are now updating the Reddit thread.

Just realized I'm holding approximately 1% of the total digibyte coins. This is the time to secure a nice position with very little money and possibly to become a future whale. Smiley  It's not all bad that the price is very low at some point if it's not affecting the team's morale.
Not affecting us at all. We are all buying Smiley

guys just one thing a SEXY graph is SeXy

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/mintpal/nautbtc

I think people are returning to the coins that are not the (as BK pointed out) "last grab for cash" coins. And putting more into the ones that, ultimately, will stick around now that this boom is dying down.

Even the graph here is looking better: https://www.bittrex.com/Market/?MarketName=BTC-NAUT (right now Bittrex has highest volume for NAUT according to CMC)

I 100% agree.

Some new coins look tempting to buy but the risk involved is very high. Better buy a coin like NAUT that shows commitment and healthy growth!

This coin is for mid/long range (crypto ranges:) 3 months and longer in my oppinion.

Happy trading:-)
Yup Smiley How many coin creators have shown as much faith in their product as BK? I mean, he's been buying coins himself for the last month to keep the price afloat while waiting for the new update. 99% of devs would have bailed a long time ago and launched a new coin, rather than risk their own money. My thinking is that if BK is willing to risk tens of thousands of dollars on Naut then there has to be something too it. Seems like a lot of other people are starting to see the same thing.
After personally meeting with BK this week in New York, we definitely agree he is very committed to the long term success of Nautiluscoin & digital currencies! Smiley

Here is a quick update for everyone!

The 1st ever Digital Currencies convention for Bankers went very well in New York. We made a lot of connections & introduced a lot of high level people to DigiByte & DigiPay. Every major bank from Wells Fargo, Chase & more to Visa, Mastercard and even the people who run the SWIFT international transfer system where in attendance. There were also several representatives from some of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks. It was the most insightful & beneficial conference we have attended yet. Besides Ethereum, Mastercoin & Ripple we were the only alt coin represented there. This showed several people we are serious & a legitimate contender for long term Digital Currency success.

The thing that surprised us the most was not "if" digital currencies would go main stream, but "when," "how" and "who" would be the first ones to do it. Several bankers legitimately felt block-chain technology can replace the aging ACH system. Bankers felt block chain technology could make it much easier for them to operate & follow AML/KYC laws.

I (Jared) also met up with Brian Kelly of Nautiluscoin & had a great lengthy conversation about the future of Digital Currencies after attending the Fast Money show at the NASDAQ market site. Some very positive things are underway. Finance is changing & we are proud to stand along side all of you as we are all pioneering the future of money! DigiByte to the moon! Smiley

any news on the bricks and mortar developments that were circulating a month or so ago?

To respond to both of you, I downloaded the pre-built installer version on the Digibyte website about 2 days ago.
It says it's v2.9.1.0f72a4c6 DigiShield (64-bit).

I don't know how to build software on windows. I've only ever compiled something using gcc and make on linux... I should probably learn how to compile software from source on windows, though!

I'm assuming I should just redownload it when the next client releases?  Smiley
Thank you both for the help, by the way!  Grin

EDIT: Oddly enough, it appears to be working now. Not entirely sure why.
Either way, I'm happy about it! ( ^.^)
Great to hear that!
