The dev team is getting excited too, we're really interested to see everyone's response to our developments Smiley
ETA 16 days Wink

Indeed. Let's not forget about the 30th Aug we gonna have with PND! Everything is looking really good!

It's hard to forget about it though when half of the posts here are about that! Tongue
362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: August 14, 2014, 05:23:47 PM
Lot of pump and dump scammers making recommendations now, without providing reasoning why their choice of altcoin is the best! PM me if you want to know my choice and why.

Why not post it here? That's what forums are for.
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: August 14, 2014, 02:24:25 PM
darkcoin is much better then nxt

Nxt isn't a coin, really. It's useful for the decentralized asset exchange, but I doubt that its tokens could be worth considerably more in the future.

I am new in this forum. What mining equipment would you suggest. I have about 3500$ to invest.
Invest in bitcoin cloud mining on cex.io. You earn about 20¢ a month per GH/s, each of which cost around $4. With $3500, that's 875 GH/s. After using them for a while, you can also resell.

That's not a good idea. Cex is overpriced, buying gh/s on their site cost considerably more than if you bought your own machine.

But the worst is how it encourages centralization of mining. Cex is affiliated with ghash.io, which is the largest Bitcoin pool and is a constant threat for 51% attacks.
365  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to know about BTC mining on: August 14, 2014, 02:19:45 PM
There is no trick.  Mining can be profitable and ROI.  Just make sure to do math.

A lot will have to do with your electricity price and space you have.  If you are lucky to have extra space and cheap electricity you can still make a profit on Asics.  (This is from personal experience GPU/CPU is dead as far as profit for me but Asics are very much alive.)

Yeah sure, but you have to have the access to cheap electricity. It is not as if you can easily gain access. It most often depends on where you live and which company sells you your electricity!

Some places have a outrageous price for electricity. That is why there is hosting.  Electricity unfortunately your right you cant switch around in most cases.  Electricity is always dependent on location of miner and company.

Yeah, but which hosting company would sell their hash rate at a rate that is better than actually using it to hash for yourself? Why would they sell their stuff if mining for themselves was more profitable? I think many people also want to run their own gear because they like mining, man Smiley Good guys, protecting the network!!!

You are thinking of cloud/renting these are good options for temporary needed hash rates.

Hosting companies you send your miner there or buy a miner there and it is a good option for some.  It all depends on you location.  Hosting company can save those with VAT and high electricity rates quite a bit, and they own the mining gear.

Hosted mining is very bad for decentralization though. The purpose of mining should be to allow users from all over the world to individually protect the network, and not give that power to some shady ASIC company.
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: August 14, 2014, 02:18:15 PM
DogeParty seems interesting, will have to look more into it.

It's a great concept, but burning doges for that might not be a good idea for the user though. More than 820 million dogecoins have been burned already, which is almost 1% of the total supply.

The burned coins have created enough XDP to create more than 2 million sets of DogeParty tokens. I don't think any more is needed.

Interesting webcomic I don't really read these type of things normally but I'll take a small look and see if I get hooked Wink

The last one is quite long so it might not be adequate for taking a small look at, but some are actually smaller and still good!

Like that one: http://www.viruscomix.com/page443.html
368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy my Litecoin so I can DUMP IT on: August 14, 2014, 02:08:05 PM
If seen you posting that in three different threads now. Why not do it in a section where it might actually be useful, like "Currency Exchange"?

Or just run to an exchange and actually sell them Cheesy

This is huge news?

Dogecoin's logo can now be used as an icon for Facebook groups! There's only about 50 to choose from, so that's quite surprising.

I'm not a big fan of Facebook, but this seems amazing. They are gearing up to use DOGE throughout all of Facebook?

This is most likely a developper who happened to be a fan of Dogecoin and thought that cryptocurrencies groups ought to have a fitting logo Smiley
370  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: August 14, 2014, 02:04:07 PM
The price of Bitcoin is around $540 right now, and I believe it will pop right back up shortly to $600-$650. Later on (about October) the price will more than likely start making another upward move to the $800 mark. I do think we will reach $1000 again , but there will have to be a significant change to make the currency more acceptable to the general public.

Where are you taking your numbers from? This only sounds like you're talking about what you wish for Cheesy
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: August 14, 2014, 02:02:14 PM
1. Mintcoin

2. Darkcoin

3. Dumpcoin

Dumpcoin? Is that a joke?
372  Other / Off-topic / Re: What comes to your mind when you see the username above you? on: August 14, 2014, 02:00:57 PM
Sergeant K.

Not sure if that's what the user wanted or not.
373  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: August 14, 2014, 01:59:59 PM
Wish I bought gold rather than bitcoin.

You wouldn't have made any profit with gold either, its price barely moved in the last six months.
374  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 14, 2014, 01:57:19 PM
Will the 17th be payment this month again? Just to confirm to fill out the form on that date.

Yes it still is, as you can see in the first post of this thread.
375  Other / Off-topic / What is your favourite webcomic? on: August 14, 2014, 01:53:31 PM
Mine is Subnormality. It's not the average format of a webcomic since it often is filled with walls of texts and/or dozens of pictures, but its content justify that very well. Here it is: http://www.viruscomix.com/subnormality.html
376  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am new,looking to start mining. on: August 14, 2014, 01:50:17 PM
If I would start mining now, I won't choose bitcoins. Check some other cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin might not be profitable right now.

Altcoin mining is even more risky though. Scrypt's difficulty is increasing faster than Bitcoin's, which means the ASIC one could buy now may very well become obsolete in two months or less.
377  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: can some one guide me i am new on: August 14, 2014, 01:44:34 PM
Mining is fun, but it's not a good way to make profits.

That's because it is an economy of scales; huge ASIC farms can get their equipment at 50% of what it costs you, so they will always be the ones making profits with altcoins and leaving the small miners in the dust.
378  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm Broke! Plese help me:( on: August 14, 2014, 01:43:10 PM
What scrypt ASIC did you preorder? Even if it hasn't shipped, someone would probably buy it from you here or on Litecointalk. Although that might be at a loss to you, considering LTC's price drop of the last few days.

If you want to do something good to me please send just a bit to 17PYX43om74eYjsVTsQBSHCfkgxTfaJqow

You are more likely to get some tips by posting that on http://www.reddit.com/r/bitcoin, FYI.

Though that won't be much. Sorry about your loss.
380  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to know about BTC mining on: August 14, 2014, 01:38:14 PM
BTC mining is not profitable, so you better mine altcoins, Because they can stay profitable for some while.
I am also thinking like that. But i am not sure which altcoin will be more profitable.

Altcoin mining is not more profitable than Bitcoin mining. Scrypt difficulty is going up at a faster rate than Sha, which means ASICs get obsolete very fast.

Also, altcoin's value are considerably more unstable, while Bitcoin is somewhat safer.
