621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: July 19, 2014, 06:19:11 PM
Its all about adoption - that seems may need a quantum leap - catalyzed by external events probably = another financial crisis.

Otherwise it will shoot up anyway - way past $1000 = or it goes to $0 - its a binary system

It would never go anywhere near 0. No matter what happens which makes speculators leave, even if it gets illegal, it will always fill a niche. Libertarians will still use it, and most people who want to buy things anonymously in the darknet.

And it's also working well at the current price of 600$. I think it's false to say that it's a binary system.
622  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: July 19, 2014, 05:44:17 PM
The real question is when will it sustain a price of 1000$ and more?

Bubbles happen, but a scenario where Bitcoin is relatively stable at such a high value would be quite nice Smiley

What happened to most of the PoS coins is known to all without any incentive to the miners .

Unless I missed some big news, all PoS coins are doing fine except for Vericoin's fiasco.

PoW is the best way to distribute a coin, but PoS seems like a more logical choice for efficient and cheap security which favours all users rather than random miners.

Thanks for giving me the mental image of spider monkeys anxiously frolicing on Mohland!

You sir are welcome! <3

624  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Discussion about post quality for PRIMEDICE signature campaign. on: July 19, 2014, 04:50:06 PM
Micro deserved his 0.2btc tip. I think next time, a lot of people will try to help to get their part of the tip Smiley

Good job Micro.

Sadly, the quality might not be as good since they may do it as fast as possible just to get tips.

Thanks Micro for possibly speeding-up our payments Smiley

I don't understand why everyone is so impatient . Its not the first time that stunna has taken time for the payouts and it usually about 48hrs after 17th of the month. So just chill and wait .

And he did say that it might take a day more than usual, because of the huge amount of users.

If I didn't make 50 post min will my post roll over into next month?

Yes.

Has anyone been paid yet? Still waiting on mine and have a ticket open with support in another matter and haven't gotten response
0.075BTC cashout waiting for support
0.06~ sig payment waiting as well

Usually it takes around 2 days, there are a lot of participants this time and posts need to be reviewed, could potentially take a day longer.

Not all devs are against doing drastic changes to the coin. Mohland is quite enthusiastic about merge-mining.

Perhaps you could contact him about forking Dogecoin? Wink

I would be all over Mohland like a spider monkey if I still had a single DOGE to my name, but I was cashed her in @ the peaks.

I still come here because I really honestly do want to see DOGE make it for years to come.  I spent a metric fuck ton of time giving away free DOGE to people.

Do it Lynn or I'm sure that mofo is reading this too Tongue

I wouldn't be the one to do it, since I find PoS to be a better solution Smiley
Not only it would solve the hashrate problem, but it would solve the inflation one too, by giving every users interests which compensate for it.

Thanks for giving me the mental image of spider monkeys anxiously frolicing on Mohland!

A response to "What is the Dev Team going to do about Dogecoin's dangerously low hashrate?", by /u/lleti:

http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/2b4v4n/a_response_to_what_is_the_dev_team_going_to_do/

It was an interesting read where he describes the reasons why it might not be wise to switch to proposed solutions, but no solution is given :/

Sure none of them are perfect, but it's about time the community and devs find concensus on what is the lesser of all evils.

The discussion about merge-mining with Litecoin continues. Post by Charlie Lee on Dogecoin's subreddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/2b11po/what_is_dev_team_going_do_about_dogecoins/

Only way DOGE is going to have this happen is if someone other than the current devs fork it.

Otherwise, DOGE is in the "return to mean meme" stage. (www.DogecoinCharts.com)

Whoever forks it should put a strong cap on it @ give the community what the OP originally said in December.

Not all devs are against doing drastic changes to the coin. Mohland is quite enthusiastic about merge-mining.

You can disable the forum ads too, but very few people do apparently.

How can one do that? Since they are in text, adblocks doesn't remove them, and I don't see any way to do that in the settings section of my profile.
630  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 19, 2014, 02:41:55 PM
Last month he paid total of 28 btc for everybody in campaign Smiley . So its pretty expensive.

For 28 BTC he could have rented 8 of the 10 advertising banners on bitcointalk!  However, only for about a week.  So I guess this is cost effective as long as the users are reasonable.  So thanks for clamping down on spam, bogus posts, and scammers.

And thank you stunna for this campaign.

The disadvantage with banner ads is that they appear only once in a thread, while there are multiple Primedice signature ads in many threads.

And I think that paying users rather than a central entithy for publicity fits quite well with the ideals of cryptocurrencies! That's an awesome thing he's doing for the community.
631  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 19, 2014, 12:40:47 PM
I wonder how many people use this as their primary source of income :p ?

The payment goes out to everyone at the same time I believe. (It did last month).
Last month we got paid on 09/06 at 22:05 UTC.. I think its 12:25 UTC right now.. Of course he could send sooner or later than that.

Don't stress peoples.. You'll get BTC soon.... then off to spend it at the candy store on penny whistles and moon pies.

Quite sure you meant 19/06 Tongue
632  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a trusted secure way to buy [btc] with credit/debit card? on: July 19, 2014, 11:45:51 AM
You can buy Dogecoins with a credit or debit card on https://coinsachs.com/ and then convert them to BTC.

And https://weselldoges.com/ allows you to buy them by Paypal.

Of course, there's a mark-up because they need to cover the cost of frauds, but it's not ridiculously high.
633  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ecological problem on: July 19, 2014, 11:43:08 AM
Alternate ways like proof of stake can reduce the environmental impact. Still efficient ASICs are developed which requires less power consumption while having a higher hashrates. Most of those CPU and GPU and old ASICs aren't suitable for mining any longer.

However, since they are more efficient, they are more profitable, and thus more of them are made and they run at the same time.

So the ASIC's growth in efficiency does not make Bitcoin mining "greener".
634  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the best online wallet for my spending money on: July 19, 2014, 11:40:44 AM
coinbase or blockchain

don't go over to a 3rd party

who knows what could happen, these are trustworthy

but don't keep your coins there too long

there was a trustworthy wallet too somethingsomething.io it was called

everyone lost their coins..

don't make their mistake..

Blockchain is trustworthy, because you don't have to trust them.

When making a wallet there, you stay in control of your coins, and you can even download a file which let's you import your private key to an offline wallet in case the website fails.

I doubt a newbie would download the private keys

if the site goes down you lose the coins?

Why wouldn't he?

If someone is not ready to do some simple steps to protect his coins, then the Fiat system might be a better and safer place for him.
635  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Get the chance to win 0.05 BTC by filling out a short survey! on: July 19, 2014, 11:37:38 AM
I tried it but the survey is closed already?

The 50 spots were almost filled two days ago, so it is likely enough respondents have done the survey by now.

637  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: any way to get a couple mBTC for free? on: July 19, 2014, 05:10:48 AM
If you are a member, you can earn mbtc from signature campaigns very easily. Faucets are really a waste of time. Look around service forums and see if you can offer anyone a service in exchange for a few mbtc.

signature campaign is not the answer since the OP wants to get some millibitcoins within only a couple hours (2-5 hours). Of course you can earn from sig campaign but it would take week or month to get paid, not in hours

Well, I don't think there's any way to get mBTCs in a couple of hours unless you're buying them. Faucets would take hundreds of hours, so signature campaigns are still the best way to get any when you can't buy them directly.
638  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: any way to get a couple mBTC for free? on: July 19, 2014, 04:11:28 AM
Faucets is the easiest way to get some mBTC free...

The easiest way to get some satoshis, sure, but it would take a hundred hour to earn one mBTC...
639  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: any way to get a couple mBTC for free? on: July 19, 2014, 03:19:59 AM
- wait until you become member level and go to service section to join signature campaign, it's very easy to get mBTC from this campaign (although you get paid by weekly / monthly)
- go to games and round section, keep on eye to giveaway thread that usually pop out there, if you are lucky, you can get free mBTC from there
- go to altcoin section, and look for bounty from profitable coin (and giveaway too, in external link usually)

Some altcoin forums also host giveaways, like Cryptocointalk and Coinzen.org.

Some can also be found on some altcoins' subreddit, most notably Dogecoin and Mintcoin.
640  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ecological problem on: July 19, 2014, 03:18:39 AM
That's a good point. Ordinary paper money are made from woods. IMO this problem is more important

Actually, dollar bills are usually made of plastic (like in Canada) or various fabrics.

But this is just a minor part of the environmental impact of fiat currencies. We also have to consider the ressources needed to run banks and pay their employees, the armored cars which move the money, the plastic on which credit cars are made, the cash registers, and the waste generated by an economy of planned obsolescence.
