521  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should I do with over $4-5 worth in BTC? on: August 01, 2014, 04:00:05 PM
You could try trading altcoins for fun, and maybe manage to transform that amount into something bigger.
522  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello.. on: August 01, 2014, 03:58:13 PM
Friendly reminder; use 2FA everywhere and read as much as possible about how to secure your coins!

This section of the forum is a nice place to get started.
523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: question about exchanges on: August 01, 2014, 03:54:55 PM
Yes, since adding other coins brings in more users, and thus more volume for all markets.
524  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would faucets be worth it if you thought Bitcoin will reach $1-10 million? on: August 01, 2014, 03:50:28 PM
It's important to consider that it would be quite hard to have the balls to hold until a Bitcoin is worth 1M$. This would take many years; will you truly be able to hold when it's worth 100x of what it's worth now at 60000$? And if you can't, at that price the current faucet output would still give quite less than the minimum wage.
525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: August 01, 2014, 03:46:23 PM
Concerning Reddcoin, I don't think there will be major dumping on August 2nd. The manipulators can't compete with a sudden change to the coin supply.

Miners are presently dumping 18 million coins per day on Reddcoin, but on august 2nd, all that dumping will end because of POSV.

And from august 2nd, POSV will only create 1.2 to 1.5 million coins per day. Now compare that to 18 million from before.

If Redd is to follow the same pattern of previous coins that went through such a transition, we could see the price reach 333 to maybe even 5000 satoshi.

The biggest address still holds 28% of the coins though. If only a few percentage of that amount is dumped, it could have quite a bad effect on the price.
526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PND]Pandacoin | 29 DAYS LEFT | August 30th - Rethinking Digital Currencies | on: August 01, 2014, 03:43:22 PM
Since we need more people using PND, how about allocate a portion to marketing fund?

I likey

Although I'm not sure how we can market a cryptocurrency though. Banner/icons advertising just doesn't seem to do it, no one's gonna adopt a currency that you see on a banner on some page.

Maybe press release? Getting well-known crypto websites to write an article about us? or even get the devs into an interview by some journalist. Any other ideas would be great, please contribute!

Doing a signature campaign which pays 50% in BTC and 50% in PND would probably bring good publicity and new users Smiley

528  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: August 01, 2014, 03:39:23 PM
I am pretty confident that bitcoin price will touch $1000 again this year (we have 5 more months), but that $1000 mark will be a big resistance and the price will likely be under big pressure after touching it.

Yes, there is the psychology behind it. Many of those who bought in late 2013 and early 2014 at $1,000-$1,200 will see that the price has risen back to four digits, feel relieved, and sell.

I believe that these kinds of people who are prone to panic-buying might actually buy more at that price, since they might think that their coins are finally in a rocket to be worth 10000$. Or they have panic-sold already.
529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XPM and QRK on: August 01, 2014, 03:37:10 PM

Buying and holding 2013 coins with no new development is a lazy thing to do.

It's much harder... and likely much more rewarding...
To select, buy and hold... more actively developed coins from the 2014 crop.

Primecoin is actively developped. Sunny King is working on implementing side-chains for both XPM and PPC at the moment.
530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: August 01, 2014, 12:12:43 PM
Does it occasionally take a long time for a transaction to confirm? It's been over 24 hours and a transaction of mine is sitting at only 6 peers.

Usually not, but it can happen if you paid no transaction fees.
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best PoS coin to invest in? on: July 31, 2014, 07:50:14 PM
The coin with the greatest success in the long term is Cloakcoin

what the actual fuck??

Cloakcoin has been out for less than a month

Is that what you call long term?

mind = blown

I would call that going full retard - and you never go full retard.

He meant it will have success in the long-term, not that it has had success since a long time.

Best doge pool ?

Simpledoge is nice, because it allows merge-mining with three different coins; PesetaCoin, TacoCoin, and UmbrellaLitecoin. Plus there's a 2% bonus going on at the moment.
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best PoS coin to invest in? on: July 30, 2014, 03:11:37 PM
Alrighty.
So far, I've got:
BitsharesX
NXT
Peercoin

I will look into the other described coins and consider their status as a good PoS coin.

Currently considering:
Blackcoin
Cloackcoin

You could also look into Pandacoin (PND). It's a small coin which has no plan on taking over the world, but it has a nice community and Proof of Stake works well with it.

Gray, some projects are starting to migrate to https://coinsortium.co/. Are you thinking about it?

I don't think he looks at the forums, his email addy should be in this thread somewhere. Try emailing him, he usually takes 2-3 days to respond/

It's grayen@digital-coin-farm.com
536  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin. Is. Awesome! on: July 30, 2014, 12:59:35 PM
I've been lurking for a long time and figured I would finally post Wink

I have got to say that Bitcoin is totally awesome! I just purchased some bits and hosting all from my Nexus 5! The even more awesomer thing? I didn't have to enter any personal information! (Well, not entirely true: I did at Coinbase so I can buy bits instantly Smiley)

Anyway, thanks for creating this wonderful community.

Congrats, bitcoin IS awesome. I'm sure you're aware, but try not to keep all your bitcoin savings in coinbase. Move them somewhere safer like a cold wallet. Smiley

I'm using bitstamp to store my savings (less than 1 btc Cheesy ), do you think I should move them to a local wallet?

Hell yes! Never trust an online web wallet with any high amount of money.

I'm trying to install bitcoin-qt too but it's syncing from yesterday.

That is normal. Wait a bit and enjoy the advantage of the wallet Wink

Light wallets are fine too, like Multibit which doesn't have to download the whole blockchain.
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PPC] PPCoin Released! - First Long-Term Energy-Efficient Crypto-Currency on: July 30, 2014, 12:58:27 PM
Crap, PPC seems like a dead coin. And i who bought 4000 when the price was 2 dollars.

Why do you say it's a dead coin? It's very stable in value...hasn't been pumped and dumped...well maybe a little pumped!  Wink

It's at 1 dollar. Virtually all money are being sucked out of it.

Cryptos have crashed and went back up many times in the past.
Imho, it's a neverending cycle and it's wrong to think that the crash won't be followed by a bubble, thus it would probably be silly to sell now at a small fraction of the ATH.
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: July 30, 2014, 12:55:10 PM
so i started mining dogecoin about a year ago.. only with a gtx 560 (dont make fun of me), because when i built my computer a year and a half ago, i put a ton into everything but the graphics card, and had no idea id discover mining soon after i discovered it wasnt so hard.. i only mined doge and vert, and now both are super low.. lol.. i had 20 dollars worth of vert, now its worth 2 dollars.. same with my doge i only made 705 of them so far =[ i think now is a great time to get in on vertcoin and dogecoin.
i was thinking about getting a new gpu for my birthday in september, preferably an nvidia.. but im pretty broke at the moment.. i believe all scrypt coins will be picking back up by november, and then we will see a huge rise in all altcoins over the next several months.. ive studied economics and pennystocks quite a bit when i was a bit younger working for my uncle. if anyone has any good affordable suggestions for nvidia gpu's, would like to critique my post, or would simply like to help a shibe out, ill leave my doge addy, although i doubt ill get any loves. will gladly return tips on coins, since i understand the market very well. i believe if i had a titan 6 months ago, i would have made a few thousand by now, all from hash power.

DRhVy4En513eZ3aQKQkdpTwewjgZXrnY39

You ought to consider buying scrypt ASICs instead; they are quite cheaper than gpus for a better hashpower, and they use less electricity.

Good luck in your endeavour Smiley

so was the $45,000 Nascar paint job worth it ?
seems like it didn't help stop the death as i predicted long ago..
the graphs say it all.. down down down.. month after month after month after..

i was unanimously trolled to death and attacked relentlessly and i was right every step of the way
and i even called it the exact day this coin died off on my "Why Doge coin is bad" topic here.

and want to here the funny part guys ?

i am a Doge coin bag holder LOL

much sad, so ashamed, very stupid of me  Huh

Pardon my curiosity, but why did you keep them after restlessly criticizing Dogecoin and even calling it a scam?
540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best PoS coin to invest in? on: July 29, 2014, 03:59:57 PM
Peercoin still seems like the best PoS coin, because it has a better distribution through PoW than most other coins.

Plus, it is not hyped at all compared to most of the other new coins, which means it probably isn't in an artificial pump phase.
