don't we all have one purpose?
BTC

You think we are a single-minded collective with virtually no individuality, is that correct?

Perhaps this user is an ant whose colony somehow figured how to use the internet and want to take over the world with the power of cryptocurrencies?
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: August 05, 2014, 01:36:18 PM
Now, the reason given to have 10000 block reward 5b in the new year was for security. Now since security is taken care of with AuxPow why cant the block reward be reduced to 5000 or so which would give a near perfect 2.5% annual inflation.

Needs to be reduced to 0 inflation which is what the Original Post said...

WHY WOULD YOU WANT YOUR SHARES DILUTED, YOU STUPID FUCKS! *PULLS HAIR OUT*

Dogecoin is money, it's not shares (although it's fun to share it).

I wouldn't mind the inflation being reduced (perhaps to 2.5 billion coins/year like Manfred said), but 0 inflation would make Dogecoin only useful for speculators. Plus the merge-mining pools would just stop mining it and it wouldn't be secure at all.
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is My Rig good for Mining? on: August 05, 2014, 01:32:27 PM
Sell the rig for $30 and buy 0.05BTC with that - that's more than the hardware could ever mine.

It seems to be OP's main computer, not sure he'd want to sell it just to get some cryptos.
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Special offer for Dogecoin users. on: August 05, 2014, 01:30:04 PM
I am also interested to sell my Doge for next is this still available or no

Actually, OP didn't even ask me for the 0.00000001 doge, and still sent me the Nxts.

It's weird, I've received the e-mail saying that I've received 10 NXTs in my wallet (at https://wallet.mynxt.info), but when I login it still says I have 0. Is that a common problem?

That should not happen. You can check your balance here: http://www.nxtreporting.com

It looks fine in the block explorer, but the online wallet still reports it as 0.

That is indeed strange. You are sure there isn't some kind of filter applied? (have never used this specific site)

If you don't find a solution, just contact the site support, they should fix it easily for you!

It finally appeared for some reasons a few days later Smiley

Updated my sig to also reflect the changes, and the upcoming PD3.

Can't wait until I make senior member, then I'll be raking in Sig campaign money.   Tongue

You should become a senior member before payday, which means you'll get paid 0.001 for all your posts of this month!

Lucky you.

507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: August 04, 2014, 09:01:21 PM
Now might be a good time to buy Dogecoin; merge-mining with LTC has just been announced, which should solve Dogecoin's security problem, which was the reason why the price has been crashing since last month.
508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: August 04, 2014, 09:00:02 PM
Dogecoin is already mined mostly by multipools anyway, so there won't be much more dumping. Plus, this will be balanced by the dogecoin miners who will sell their LTC for doges.

... and counter-balanced by LTC miners who will sell their DOGE for LTC (?)

Yes, I was replying to the person who said that this change would be bad for the price since LTC miners would dump their doges.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: August 04, 2014, 02:29:37 PM
I think it`s not the right time to complain Wink
The switch to merge mining shows that devs are working on the future of doge.

They are too late. I was telling this to Jackson months prior to C. Lee gave his 2 cents.

GTFO while you still can.

No offense to you DOGE holders, but hell... you are holding it for fun anyways who cares what the market is!

For those of you who do care... I would say cut your losses and run.

I don't think that the new update will do muck good n the price either. I feel like the developers tried to favor the minres but didn't find a good enough way to protect the price from falling and recreate interest. Merged mining will not atract investor interest, instead powerful miners will jump in and start dumping coins. Makes me even happier I sold @ ~200 sat.

It's not the devs job to create interest for speculators through shiny new technology, their job is to secure the coin and this is a very good solution towards that goal.

Dogecoin is already mined mostly by multipools anyway, so there won't be much more dumping. Plus, this will be balanced by the dogecoin miners who will sell their LTC for doges.

A little late isn't this? what Scypt coins are even left.

Litecoin? If their pools implement it, it has the potential of bringing the security of about 95% of the total scrypt hashrate to Dogecoin.

Much thanks to all devs Smiley

1.) Store your bitcoins locally unless cashing out or making some sort of quick trade.  Exchanges are notorious for being 'hacked' or going down for one reason or another basically losing everybody's coins.  MintPal and Viacoin a perfect recent example.

2.) Don't invest in mining equipment and expect to make your money back +some, it won't happen

3.) Don't trust anybody in this forum without researching them for yourself.

4.) Don't invest in cloud-hashing mining operations...ever!

5.) Don't panic if the day after you purchase your bitcoin it drops by 12%, if your purchasing bitcoin with the expectation of earning something more than you put into it more than likely you will have to hold your coin for at least 12-18 months at this point imho given all the crap regarding BitLicense in NY.  If this actually passes in it's present form I actually expect to see bitcoin prices suffer for at least the next year or so before the rest of the world picks up the proverbial slack.

Hope you find these tips useful.  Welcome to the fascinating world of crypto-currencies! Smiley

I expect prices to skyrocket after NY BitLicense as Bitcoin could become mainstream and may even be allowed on wallstreet! so it could go both ways i guess..time will tell

Isn't Bitcoin a tool to become free from the control of the Wall Street elite and the government? It seems silly to be happy that they'll get into Bitcoin.

Thanks Smiley

Depend on where you live, 1M may not even buy a nice apartment.

And in some places, this could buy you a villa Wink
517  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie DO'S and DONT'S? on: August 02, 2014, 01:25:34 PM
Don't use online wallets
Anything serious with online wallet what happen why you use " Don't use online wallets " . because I am using online wallet I want to aware about any issue with online.
Because of seccurity problems, there is always a risk that your account or the site can be hacked.

For online wallets (exchanges and casinos), you don't have the private keys for your bitcoin.
So, the site owner can take your bitcoin and vanish at any time, and this kind of thing has happened multiple times.

Blockchain.info is cool though, because the site owner doesn't have access to the private keys of the users.

Guess I should explore bitcoins fully before thinking of altcoins,

Altcoins can be a good way to learn about cryptocurrencies actually, since transactions costs almost nothing for many of them, and they are faster.
519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: August 01, 2014, 04:04:53 PM
Does it occasionally take a long time for a transaction to confirm? It's been over 24 hours and a transaction of mine is sitting at only 6 peers.

Usually not, but it can happen if you paid no transaction fees.

I paid the 1. Does it also depend on the size of the transaction? This one was roughly 25k bytes in size.

The bigger the transaction, the bigger the tx fees should theoretically be. However, I always pay 1 doge and have never had any transfer problem.
Could you post the link in dogechain.info to your transaction?

HEY ! IM NEW HERE. I JUST WANTED TO SAY .. I LOVE ALTCOINS AND BITCOIN !! enough caps . Yes im new here and wanted to say hi. I especially like altcoins and want to do something entrepreneurial soon !

I read in some websites that some people can earn enough to live by trading altcoins, this is my ultimate goal!

one day you'll encounter a bad streak and lose most of what of you have

trading shouldn't be the thing you would rely on, it should only be extra income

Trading is extremely risky.
According to https://poloniex.com/exchange (sorting the trade pairs by "change"), there are 8 altcoins growing more than 40% value in a day and 10 altcoins losing more than 25% value in a day.

If you really want to try trading, please do it in a small scale first.

That's actually not bad. If you manage to make 40% in a day, the 25% loss is written-off. Plus, with enough research, you can put the odds in your favour.
