i'm in it to get rich quick. Haha me too. Here's to getting rich quick! You don't care about the socio-political implications of cryptocurrencies?

This Japanese justice system works very well against the violent crimes. But at the same time, it is having almost no effect on the white-collar criminals. Japan is turning to be a perfect refuge to all those financial crooks.
Not to mention drug crimes. It's one of the country where drugs are the most expensive, because of how severe and efficient they are against them. I find their sense of priorities truly disturbing.

If your friends know you have bitcoins and they probably do, you will likely be give up to the taxman and slaughtered; if you didn't flee or protect yourself well, someone will kidnap you and steal your passwords
Gee, what kind of friends do you have who would do that? Don't scream on all roofs about the fact that you have a considerable amount of Bitcoins, and you won't be kidnapped really...

I'd say it is knowledge. Getting to know the universe, both outer and inner, is the most intense feeling one can have. Especially since love is impossible without that knowledge; you need to know thyself to be able to know the others and truly love and have a constructive relation with them.

Couldn't the forum simply implement google search? When I need to search something here, I type it on google followed by "site:bitcointalk.org" and the results are considerably more relevant than searching through the forum's search box.

Tell us your awsome ideas for the future. What will you change??
Replace klepto-currencies with cryptocurrencies. I guess that's what we're all here for

Should i be eating these?
Sure, the snake eats lots of PNDs and he still seems quite healthy (just try not to bump into walls or eat dogecoins and you'll be fine.)

30 % are 15-20? I think this may be more true for the off-topic forum in particular, rather than the whole forum. I think the average for the entire forum would be mid-later 20s.
That percentage probably is also right for the Altcoins section.

I joined because I love the idea of a currency whose value is dictated by nothing else than the trust and consensus of a global community; tens of thousands of persons rather than a few corrupt and/or incompetent politicians.
how do you feel about ghash.io and centralized mining in general? Unhappy enough to have converted most of my BTCs to other cryptos!

If the SR bitcoin auction goes well (in terms of price), we may see a strong uptrend very soon. How can it effect BTC value positively ? Hahaha i don't think it'll goes well in terms of price That auction is like a dump When will the auction be held? "bitcoin marshall" on google, first link : http://www.usmarshals.gov/assets/2014/bitcoins/Phase II: Online Auction Period Date: Friday, June 27, 2014, from 6:00 AM EDT to 6:00 PM EDT I don't believe this will have a negative impact. Most of the bidders are already involved with Bitcoin and are bullish on its long-term value. You can find their names here: http://www.coindesk.com/list-possible-silk-road-bitcoin-bidders-allegedly-leaked-us-marshals/It includes the Second Market Bitcoin Fund, the cofounder of Coinbase and the cofounder of Bitcoinshop.

If you're concerned about the centralisation of mining and risks of 51% attacks, which indeed are reasons to be concerned, wouldn't investing in an alternate PoS coin be a more logical solution?

If you store either them at your house, you will be susceptible to theft. But gold can be detected with a metal detector. To steal bitcoin they'd have to search your house like crazy, and not even being sure you have it. Plus you can always have a brain wallet Or you could use an online wallet like Blockchain.info, which you only access through TOR. Plus it is infinitely easier to transport than gold

Please God let it go to $2000 this year. Please, I will go to church ever sunday and stop tormenting the neighbourhood cats if it does. Joke about the cats A few churches accept donations in Bitcoin. If you believe in this, you sould consider giving them some Plus spending Bitcoins is always good for its credibility as a currency, so you might end up contributing to a self-fulfilling prophecy!

You could buy GH/s online from certain businesses. Beware though that you have to pay a lot for fees on some sites. You could also try to mine alt-coins, some seem to be profitable.
Be careful with that, Gh/s sold online are almost always incredibly overpriced. Make your research with calculators like http://www.vnbitcoin.org/bitcoincalculator.php before making big mistakes. Plus, if you buy gh/s from cex.io, it will mine on ghash.io which is a big threat to the decentralised aspect of Bitcoin.

you guys can't even defend the coin anymore lol this slipped to page 5 pretty fast.
Doge is dead hahhaa
Well then refute what I just posted? And a coin with 300000$+ of daily trade volume, which manages to stay stable despite a 100BTC daily inflation, and which can be used with hundreds of merchants is quite alive.

^^ Dunno mate, seem a lot of unhappy people who wait god knows how many months for pre-orders and when they got them it was basically useless and generating squat. but yeah if bitcoin gets to $10,000 then yeah, profit to be made by them!
I know we shouldnt think like this or else the hole bitcoin thing fails, but what about the poor people who pre ordered BFL stuff when BTC was like $30 or $80 or whatever it was a while back... if only they had held... and yeah i know I know, no one is pychic.. :|
Yeah, I agree that preordering something that is planned to be released in more than a month is quite a bad idea. However, there are some ASICs available right now at good prices which ship in less than a month. GAW miners and a few other are reputable. I guess its as you said, investment, you might win, you might loose. Just don't loose more than you can afford Definitely.

I vote for Danny Brewster, because of how legit and full of potential his service seemed. Other than Karpeles, no other CEO on that list has had as much media coverage before deciding to become a trainwreck in a few days.
