Here we go guys, here is the truth: Doge coin cap is beyond retarded, doge is dying and will be a distant memory in a year.

Sorry.

The fact that it survives despite its current hyperinflation of 180M daily doges, or about 80BTC at today's price, and the vast majority of them mined by multipools, shows you're wrong.
903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: June 29, 2014, 02:03:10 AM
I want inflation free doge back.. That was cra cra..  I'm looking at you devs

Perhaps the perpetual inflation was implemented so the coin would be unnatractive to speculators who aren't involved with the community, and thus allowing the coin to have a more stable value dependent solely on its userbase?

The early adopters wanted to believe.. It was Crazy and funny but man..  I wanted to believe

It will never be over as long as some of us believe it isn't Smiley

Dogecoin still has, by far, the community for which I'm most happy to contribute to.

It looks really promising, but I don't like one thing. Why on earth they won't add any female assassins? Having only male heroes are kinda discriminating...

The trailer from E3 does show a female assassin as the main character Smiley

@SebastianJu:  There's another upstanding US pot grower offering shares:  ⋆⋆⋆⋆฿itcoin฿udz⋆⋆⋆⋆ Emerging Market IPO
Not quite as grand a scale, but prob'ly just as trustworthy.
Still keeping in touch with Jon?  Everything good on that front, at least?

Im not yet convinced from the other offer. On top i know and trust the other issuer. I guess i wait how it goes, maybe later.
Jon... last contact 6 days ago. But ill try to reach him again.

I'm under the impression that there has been big problems with the harvest and he's delaying to share the news as much as possible until some better ones come... Or perhaps he has abandoned.

I'm glad there were buy orders for me to panic-sell to.
907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin is the OWS of coins.... on: June 28, 2014, 09:07:54 PM
I see the clean folks of the Tea Party as Bitcoin and Dogecoin is the Occupy Wall St. of coins.

Thoughts?

dogecoin is dead, they have no meaning..

this could be said about every single alt coin released though.

How so? There are tons of altcoins that offer innovative technology. How does new tech have no meaning?

I find it relevant that there are coins for every community, innovative technology is not even necessary.
For exemple, someone who sees value in cryptocurrencies and who has a mindset more inclined towards socialism might not want to buy Bitcoins and thus give power to the libertarian early-holders by doing so.

Even if, right now, a Bitcoin can not be produced under $400, it still needs community consensus to stay above that price. A crash to 200$ could happen, and difficulty would adapt so a Bitcoin could be produced at that price. And ASIC companies who have access to cheap miners and electricity can propably produce them at a considerably lower price anyways. Because of this, I think it's wrong to say that PoW gives a base value to a coin.

And there is no way to cheat with PoS either; everybody gets the same interest rate for protecting the network.

I am open to both POW and POS, but POW is working for bitcoin from start, and POS is still young and needs validation over time (in sense of market sentiment and acceptance).  Is it worth to improve security with POS but at the same time introduce new (unknown at the time) risk factors?

Many coins have took risks with PoS by now, and no major problem have been found.
Dogecoin's developper consider that using PoS might be a good idea no sooner than the 600000th block, so that's plenty of time for other coins to thoroughly test it really.
909  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do people deny the climate change? on: June 27, 2014, 02:05:29 AM
Having said that, I have a bad feeling it is man made and we are not going to do crap about it.

Well, that depends on each individual. Since no fast profits will be made by doing anything to prevent climate changes, it is up to the individual to do their part since no powerful corporations or government will want to get involved with this.

If everybody was educated about climate change and what they can do to help, the situation would be much more hopeful really.

But it's a lot better than it was 10 years ago so I guess things can still change Smiley
910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DOGECOIN to switch to variant of Proof of Stake (PoS) on: June 27, 2014, 01:58:58 AM
Why don't you like coins with POS?
What are PoS coins back by? Nothing. Its an illusion that they are worth something. Endless new once will pop up forever because they cost nothing to create.

Uh... how is this different from any other crypto?

POS is coming to a coin near you, unless traders and manipulators just keep squeezing it forever.

POW is a tax on holders,  No matter how slow the coin-generation it dilutes your value every block every day.  Its also centralized due to mining consolidating smaller and smaller.

POS is true asic resistance (can't mine it ha!)  Its also true decentralization.   Its also non-inflationary if its zero/low interest (blackcoin is only 1%)

POW is outdated,  its first generation crypto tech with first generation wasteful-ness and security risks.  (51% is a real and daily threat.  Lets see you 51% blackcoin)    It just takes a long time for the the world to catch up.  Btc is still new to 99.8% of humanity.  So it will continue to get first mover recognition.. for a while.

POS does not equal fair distribution to the masses.  That's the big difference I guess.

An hybrid where the initial distribution is done through PoW for about a year and the security is later enforced by PoS seems quite fair to me.
911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Still too "geeky" to mine on: June 26, 2014, 08:29:10 PM
Just spent some time reviewing this, Thanks for the info, It was interesting and this is a big step to make things a easier, They have worked out that getting started is something that needs to be addressed.

However from what I have read, They only seem to support gawminer, and very limited on other brands, Some report it works on gridseed and others cant get it to detect anything atall, I am not poo pooing this, I think this is great, I wish them success in further developing this idea.

Call me a little paranoid, But personally I don't want a cloud/web gui to be on my network, It just leaves too many doors open for my liking, I thing people should stick to running within their own personal space, With things like teamviewer for someone that really wants to access their home network.

That's true, it's still in early development and thus it doesn't support many different models of miners.
Still, it's a step in the right direction.

What makes you wary about the fact that it's web-based? If a hacker were to gain control of someone's machines, the person would take notice quite soon and would be able to take back control rapidly. Although I'm indeed a bit worried of the possibility that zenMiner's whole infrastructure could be accessed, allowing someone to take control of all their miners and attack a coin, I think the advantages of being able to control our miners when away from home to be worth that small risk.
912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DOGECOIN to switch to variant of Proof of Stake (PoS) on: June 26, 2014, 08:21:45 PM
That's probably the best way to keep the network secure, considering that our inflation will be considerably less than Litecoin which has a quite higher market cap, and also considering the ongoing centralization of mining which leave much hashpower in the hands of few miners.

I'd support this.

915  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do people deny the climate change? on: June 26, 2014, 08:07:44 PM
Well, I was just saying on another thread that I think climate change does happen. There was an Ice Age not that long ago in a geological sense and we're still kinda coming out of it. BUT I think it is highly arrogant to say that human activity is the ONLY factor involved with climate change. If you're not a rabid Creationist who takes the Bible literally (and I know not all Christians are a Ken Ham who can get owned by a science educator), you know that Earth was here long before there were humans and will still be here long after those of us who are pioneering spirits have colonized other planets and the rest die in a worldwide cataclysm a la Hollywood style. Nature is good at bouncing back from disaster even if it might not ever look the same as it did before. Yes, replace your light bulbs with a more efficient version and remember to turn your lights and appliances off when you leave the room and do what you can to improve the gas mileage on your car, but do it because they'll save you on your energy and gasoline bill.

That's true, life on earth survived many massive extinctions and global disasters, and there's no way that human actions can damage nature for the long term.

The reason that trying to counter our impact on climate change is important, is to allow the future generations of humans to live in a healthy environment which has a sufficient amount of ressources to sustain them.

Their e-mail servers have often been down in the past, but never for more than a few days, ...
They've been down for weeks at a time, more than once this year alone...

more than a few days!?

please...

=squeak=

Oh, I don't recall that it lasted that long.
Then again, e-mail confirmations were not important, so I might not have noticed.
Sorry about that.

However, I'm quite sure that most of the times it lasted for less than a week.
917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: dogecoin trade on: June 26, 2014, 07:17:21 PM
Hi guys, I have a small amount of dogecoins, like only about 200 but I would like 2 swap these for another alt coin, so if your interested reply and let me know what u got 2 swap. I'm just looking 2 swap some coin and get more familiar with all types of altcoins.

Are you interested in Pandacoins (PND)?
It's a PoS coin with a community similar to Dogecoin's.
I don't mind sending you 1000 for free.
918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ENOUGH ALTCOINS???? DO WE NEED MORE NEW COINS???? on: June 26, 2014, 07:15:54 PM
There are over 800 altcoins already. 90%  or more of them will die sooner or later.
New coins trend is likely going to continue until people will finally start to realize that there is no money in quick pump and dump. Thats where truly innovative and professional coins will start to shine and all shitcoins will be quickly forgotten.
Im looking forward to that time.

Imho, there will always be a considerable market for shitcoins.
Many people seem to consider this like a good decentralized way to gamble and have the potential to quickly make good profits.

I don't see why gamblers will stop putting money on them.
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which alternative cryptocurrency will blow up next and why? on: June 26, 2014, 07:14:21 PM
I'd say Dogecoin, since its value is currently 6 times less than ATH, while the inflation rate will in one week be about 15% of what it was at that time.

And during that period, nothing fundamental changed about the coin, and its community and the economy that surrounds it have continued to grow.

Of course, I am biased like all those who will enter this thread so consider this with a grain of salt.
920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ENOUGH ALTCOINS???? DO WE NEED MORE NEW COINS???? on: June 26, 2014, 07:11:34 PM
People will mine every new shit for a chance of instamine and instant dump because it's profitable, there are a lot of morons ready to buy everything.

These persons who buy them are not cryptocurrencies investors with long-term objectives, but gamblers.
Their money would not have gone to the safe and legit coins anyway, so they don't detract from the altcoins' total capital.
