You probably know for how much those go elsewhere, where you can assume that they are treated with various things.
How would someone be sure this stone is not treated? That only warrants the higher price.
Not implying anything here, don't get me wrong. But, in the end, one stone looks like another ;-)

Hi forrestv, There is a lot of interest in partial confirmations of transactions and p2pool has been proposed as a reasonable solution (see here). Specifically, the p2pool sharechain could guarantee that it will include a given txn in its next block (barring a conflicting transaction sneaking into the blockchain). Could you please comment on the feasibility of implementing such functionality into p2pool? What about the benefit? Does p2pool guaranteeing the inclusion of a txn provide any real benefit over sending your txn to the network and waiting for the majority of nodes to get it? Thanks! Are you talking about something like regular unconfirmed transactions floating around the bitcoin network, waiting for inclusion into the next block? So you would like to have p2pool say "we got this tx, will include it soon!"? I don't see the advantage.. You can already see these [bitcoin] tx in your bitcoind (no idea if possible in a stock bitcoind) or on one of the pages, blockexplorer or the like. android bitcoin wallet shows tx too. Now, seeing that tx there, or having additionally p2pool say to include it, makes no difference: as soon as someone else creates a conflicting tx, like a doublespend, and his tx gets included into the chain first (higher fees, quicker propagation, luck, he mined the next block himself), your original tx is down the toilet anyway. p2pool is relatively small, so even if p2pool says "yep, will include your tx" as well as "..and we'll drop any future conflicting tx", it would only work if no other pool/miner finds the next block first and includes the unwanted conflicting tx. Theoretically you can owe an unlimited number of btc, even more than will ever be in existence, and you still could be able to pay your debt. As long as you have enough backup assets, an some control over the flows, it could be possible...
What you cannot do in such a case is repay ALL your debt at once, but you could start a successful repayment process, because as you start paying, some of the flow of capital you were holding is going to find it's way to the exchanges, in pursuit of realizing a profit. If you're also there, offering the realized profit for other goods, you'll recover some of the bitcoins you just has left, and you can continue the payment process with those same bitcoins...
Now. I'm not saying that pirate will be able to do this. I'm just saying that this is theoretically possible...
So what you're saying is that pirate can pay it back but bitcoin will plummet in value... So investers will have their ammount of bitcoin back but it wil be worth less than before. Again, not necessarily.. Since he would buy back all free bitcoins from the open market (from the paid out lenders) the price wouldn't have to plummet. It could indeed rise, too, if people realize whats going on. With such volume under his control, he would probably decide the exchangerate, and he would obviously prefer a low rate.. While I remain forever hopeful, I'm not counting on any national acceptance any time soon. The banks just won't let it happen. If Iceland were to unveil some kind of "roadmap" that involves Bitcoin, perhaps as a trial first, then as a second official currency, or perhaps they were to declare a safe-haven for bitcoin rights, the response could range anywhere from suicide bombings to submarines drilling nukes into the bedrock to blast the island out of the water...
Just look at what's going on around the world today. Remember when that guy, what's his name, Julian Assange was considered a hero all over the world for embarrassing the US gov't with Cablegate and whatnot? They got angry and even arrested some kid for doing the leaks, but Assange was basically untouchable. But then he announced some upcoming leaks regarding a "prominent US bank", and BAM! Rape allegations, "code red" alerts, Interpol investigations, international arrest warrants, the UK threatening to invade Ecuadorian soil... I guess that'll teach people to wear condoms!... And that was just ONE guy running a <$1million activist organisation, threatening just the ONE bank.

I didn't see the events around wikileaks/assange from that direction yet. Really some food for thought. However: What does Wikileaks and Bitcoin have in common? -You can't kill an idea! Decentralized *leaks are coming, and, well, Bitcoin is decentralized to begin with. But yes, getting the whole WL/BTC process as rough and illegal as possible does/will slow it down. Ente |

I apologize if this has already been done, but has anyone traced the coins they sent to pirate, and did they end up in a large address like this one? If a lot of members pirate owes cooperated, there might be some interesting results to the blockchain analysis.

Wie soll das funktionieren? Wenn die Händler und Produzenten kleiner privater Netzwerke größer werden, was zwangsläufig passieren muss weil auch diese ihren Profit steigen wollen und auch in Konkurrenz zu den bisherigen großen Händlern/Produzenten stehen, so werden wir auch bei diesen neuen BTC-Händlern/Produzenten wieder die alten Strukturen wie heute bei den bisherigen großen Händlern/Produzenten bekommen.
Auch Amazon unterhält heutzutage dezentral verschiedene Lager und arbeitet an verschiedenen Standorten mit verschiedenen Fremd- und Tochterfirmen zusammen. Um nur mal ein Beispiel zu nennen. Die Trennung zwischen (kleinem) privaten Geschäft und kommerziellen Geschäft ist nicht möglich.
Die Sichtweise ist hier falsch bzw. alt.
Händler oder Produzenten, welche auf Profit agieren, wird es in diesem System nicht mehr geben. Stattdessen wird z.B. ein Tischler eben selbstgemachte Holzwaren gegen Anfrage anfertigen und dafür z.B. kostenfrei zur KfZ-Werkstatt gehen.
Es ist vergleichbar mit einem Netzwerk aus Bekannten und Freunden, die sich gegenseitig helfen und ihre Können kostenfrei anbieten (die eine Hand wäscht eben die Andere).
D.h. ein solches Netzwerk ist dann eben nicht mehr kommerziell, sondern privat.
Dort fallen dann keine Umsatzsteuern mehr an und es lässt sich staatlich kaum noch lenken.
Man muss halt anfangen vom zentralen Profitdenken wegzukommen. Amazon ist nicht dezentral, nur weil die Lager dezentral organisiert sind.
Es wird erst dezentral, wenn Geld, Einfluss auf das gesamte System gering bzw. dezentral sind. Bei Amazon ist dies wahrlich nicht der Fall.
Bei "Tischler" und "Autowerkstatt" mag das ja zumindest nicht undenkbar zu sein. Aber so als Ganzes? Ein paar Nachbarn schließen sich zusammen, um Microchips zu entwerfen? Ich paddle nach China um mir Seltene Erden zu tauschen? Jeder Anwohner von hier bis Sibirien pflegt sein eigenes Stück Gaspipeline? Ja, sicher wäre eine Welt denkbar, in der es keinerlei Konzentration von Macht und Geld gibt, meinentwegen auch keinerlei Geld insgesammt. Dann aber weiterhin zu denken, dass so eine Welt noch viel mit unserer jetzigen zu tun hat, dass diese Welt immernoch 7 Mrd Menschen beherbergt, dass der Weg zu dieser Welt irgendwie anders als absolut unvorstellbar gräßlich wird, dass diese Welt eine Utopie, nicht eine Dystopie ist? Naiv. Oder andersrum, um es greifbarer zu machen: Finde mir eine Gruppe, die nach solchen Maßstäben lebt. Du kannst dir aussuchen, ob in der Vergangenheit, oder aktuell in irgendeiner abgelegenen Gegend. So. Haben die Jungs Internet? Wie bereiten die ihre Nahrung zu? Was sind deren primären Nöte? Lebenserwartung? Vermutetes Glücklichsein? Und du willst da hin? Ente |

Why not leave it at confirmed reports of accounts paid? One of the things I half expect to see is countries, businesses, games and many others issuing their own blockchains as a method of keeping internal accounts while making use of the system but if they don't link directly to bitcoin as a central currency it could all get very messy with alt chains printing money as it suits them and exchange rates up in the air. Hopefully Canada will consider that with their own digital currency and not stay stuck in the rut of the current fiat system.
Could work. As long as they "connect" to the Bitcoin blockchain (aka merge-mining compatible) to make use of the high difficulty.. If they started their completely independent own chain, they would need dramatic investments into mining to secure the new network, or have it run over quickly. Interesting ideas! Ente |

My guess is simply that Greece will now be adopting BTC as their sole currency... a long shot perhaps... but one i'd like to see  Bitcoin is not inflatory enough for this use. :-P Something coming from Island, though, could be possible and be awesome news! Ente |

Habe erstmal nur die drei eingebaut, da dies die gängigsten sind. Wenn die Seite dann live ist sollte es keinerlei Problem sein jede andere Cryptocurrency einzubauen, die dem Bitcoin RPC Protokoll - oder einem vergleichbarem - folgt.
Die Idee, im Gegensatz zu anderen Seiten liegt eigentlich darin, dass ich keinen "Standard" haben will. Bei BTC-E und Vircurex zum Beispiel handeln alle gegen BTC.. das funktioniert zwar, aber mir wäre es lieber, wenn man frei wählen könnte was man gegen was eintauscht, also nicht nur BTC/LTC und BTC/NMC sondern LTC/NMC oder I0C/LQC etc.. aber um das ganze etwas einfacher zu halten habe ich erstmal nur 3 Chains eingebaut.
Verstehe! Allerdings würde ich bei einer Finanzplattform konservativer rangehen, und nach der Integration von mehr chains nochmal testen lassen. Oder jetzt gleich alle integrieren. Aber jetzt mit 3 chains testen, live gehen, und dann größere Änderungen vornehmen indem man nochmal drei chains einbindet..? Nur so ein Gedanke! Zumindest bei vircurex lassen sich alle beliebigen Kombinationen aus chains direkt ineinander tauschen oder in USD bzw EUR. Einzige Restriktion ist, dass direktes tauschen von EUR in USD nicht geht. Zu btc-e kann ich da nichts sagen, habe ich nicht getestet. Gibt es eigentlich Pläne, eine API einzurichten? Ente |

Ich denke mal, altcoinexchange soll primär Miner ansprechen. Miner, die alt-chains merge-minen, werden sicherlich alle relevanten alt-chains minen.. Wollen dann natürlich alle alt-coins handeln können, und werden sich notgedrungener Maßen woanders anmelden. Oder übersehe ich was?
Angemeldet bin ich, ich teste die Tage mal und notiere mir was mir auffällt.

Given that the exchange rate is free-floating (as it should be), changing the block reward from halving every 210,000 blocks to a constant 50 would probably not cause much difference at all.
But the speculation is moot... nobody's changing that part of bitcoin.

Es ist ja nicht so das es nicht dutzende Kleinanzeigen Seiten gäbe und Hood.de ist Dir ja wohl bekannt. Und falls es dezentral sein muss gibts noch die guten alten Newsgroups mit de.markt und allerlei lokalen marktgruppen. Und bitte nicht mit der Leier kommen das es dort zu wenig Leute gäbe, wenn alle nur ebay benutzen weil dort 'alle' sind wird das mit den Alternativen nie was. Hui, da ist aber jemand reizbar..? Du hast recht. Einfach alles Mögliche Inserieren, "gegen drei Bitcoins". Werden zwar womöglich nicht viele Leute direkt annehmen, aber es schafft Angebot und Publicity.
