I would say there are around 40k BTC volume less per day than would be, don't know, stable, healthy, good.. At least it used to be more around 50k average daily, instead of as low as 10k now. Ente If you look at trading volume in USD it should look more 'healthy'. When BTC goes to 10, people only need half as many to continue making transactions that they were making at 5. Good point! it's the same bullshit over and over again. everytime the price falls this FUD carousel starts and then after a few days, the price rebounds - contrary to all oh-we-are-doomed prophecies.
Nope. I don't think many believe the long-term trend is down. Many believe the long-term (aka years) trend is "sky", "moon" and then some more. Still, several things point to price going down *short term*. Just because the price surely will be up in a matter of weeks again, doesn't mean it can't "crash" some dozen percent for some days. On a long enough timescale this is noise. Noise I plan to profit on. again, the reason for the recent fall is purely psychological. GLBSE down? don't make me laugh. as far as I know, GLBSE was almost exclusively about investing in mining projects and ponzi schemes (mainly PPT) if you want to invest in mining projects, just browse the mining sub-fora of BitcoinTalk and you'll find plenty of oportunities. if you want to lose money in ponzi schemes or other scams, you'll find plenty of opportunities in the lending subfora. also the market capitalization of GLBSE was small, contrary to what you might think. again, GLBSE isn't NYSE or NASDAQ. GLBSE is more like a shitty local wannabe stock exchange and its function can be fully replaced by public forums.

Yes, GLBSE was relatively small, between 5k and 8k BTC I read. Which translates to "no direct influence on the price". Still, GLBSE didn't make the volume go lower and lower for weeks, for example. There is more up now than just GLBSE. Ente |

When I set a one-digit limit, it is automatically changed to the tenfold:
12.2 --> 12.20
instead of 12.02..
(on ICS)
So, what has to be running to get alarms? Does the app has to stay running, like, visible in the background, or can I close it with the regular "swipe"? Or can I close it via taskmanager too? How about phone reboot?

Yep, that bug is present. I don't expect it to get fixed any time soon  You don't need to keep running the app at all, as far as I know (it uses some google push notification system?), and I think it also still works when you reboot. Indeed.. Bitcoinica as well as Tradehill still are in that app :-) I first thought the app was totally broken. Figured out that actually MtGox had problems, with zero trades for some hours. So, it seems the app works, but the author abandoned it more than a year ago.. What a shame! Ente |

reward halving to 25@ block 210,000. going to be a lot less coins available. I can see us hitting $20 soon.
so we will produce 3600 less coins per day, which is like 10% of the daily volume just on mtgox, not to mention all the volume combined elsewhere, so it's not going to have any major effect on the price. At most we will go up 10% from whatever stable price the market will settle at. Absolutely. It was shown several times that mining or difficulty has no effect on price. The other way is true. Ente |

FWIW, launching a card product is complex and experiences many unforseen, unavoidable delays. Even if you have hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank, the wheels of big corporate bureaucracies seem to move painfully slow from the perspective of those used to moving at internet Bitcoin speed. There's so many different entities involved, each with critical paths and potential disruption points; at a bare minimum you have: BIN sponsor, issuer-processor, card network, card bureau (manufacturer), and program manager.  Plus, card networks have all these strange "blackout" periods throughout the year where nothing is allowed to get done. If you slip a milestone and some important component falls into one of those windows, your whole project timeline stretches out like salt water taffy on a hot summer day. Even once you have everything approved and locked-and-loaded, you can miss a manufacturing window and get delayed additional months, etc... Having personally project managed a card product from beginning to end, I can sympathise with the lack of being able to provide a firm date.  Thank you for those insights! Wuerde mich interessieren wie das Ganze auf Cryptostocks.com anwendbar ist. Zwar handeln wir nur mit BTC,DVC und LTC (also kein USD, Euro) aber werden die gelisteten Projekte und der Handel der zugteilten "Aktien" dieser Projekte als Finanzdienstleistung interpretiert?
Solange weder der Plattformbetreiber, noch die Benutzer (untereinander) Fiat ins Spiel bringen, sollte alles ohne Genehmigung etc gehen. Das Problem kommt dann natürlich später: Ein Betreiber lässt Anwender untereinander BTC und Geistgeld tauschen. Keine Euro oder Dollar, also alles in Butter. Das tut er gewerbsmäßig und nimmt 0.x% der Coins dafür. Das darf er auch. Nur, wie kriegt man die vielen Coins, die sich mit der Zeit ansammeln, wieder in Euro getauscht? Langt es da dann den Haufen zu versteuern? Oder kriegen die einen dann mit Finanzdienstleistung dran? Ente |

haha - die politiker werden schon belatscht - von milliardenschweren banken. da haben wir keine chance. Im übrigen bin ich nicht der meinung, dass Regulierung ein positiver schritt für den Bitcoin ist. eigentlich sollte es die regierung einen dreck angehen, was wir mit unseren bitcoins machen. deregulierung des marktes sollte der logischere schritt sein
Wirkliche Deregulierung würde dann aber auch bedeuten das wenn ein Trojaner die Deine Wallet ausliest und die Bitcoins auf ein anderes Konto überweist Dir der Staat mitteilt: Geht uns nichts an, hätten sie halt besser aufgepasst.Und nein, ich halte es für eine irrige Annahme einen 'mündigen Bürger' zu postulieren der zig Seiten AGB auf alle möglichen und unmöglichen Eventualitäten abklopfen soll was selbst bei höchstrangingen Richtern dann meist Monate dauert. Sei es Vertragsrecht, Gesundheitsrecht, Baurecht etc. Ich will ja nicht in Abrede stellen das das Zustandekommen der Gesetze derzeit nur schwerlich mit dem Weg der demokratischen Willensbildung in Einklang zu bringen sind. Aber ob man nur weill alle paar Wochen mal der ein oder andere Autofahrer auf der Autobahn die falsche Spur benutzt halte ich die Idee die Benüzung der Autobahn generell nach Gutdünken freizugeben für eine schlechte Idee. Btw. Deregulierung war doch eine der Mantren das so ziemlich jede Partei die letzten 10 25 20 jahre vor sich hergetragen hat. Das Ergebnis ist allenthalben zu bewundern. So ist es! Ich habe nichts gegen Politiker per se - nur gegen die Hohlköppe, die uns angeblich zur Zeit representieren! :-) Ente |
