but how terrible a player is Marcus Rashford to not worth the World Class calibre title ? and is Marcus Rashford actually overrated and would rot on the bench in each of the top 6 Ranked National Teams in the world right now namely; ?

I started the discussion about overrated English players and week midfield but you did not quote my post. If you did you would see that I was talking only about center midfield positions which are reserved for Henderson and Philips type of players under Southgate. I also said in that post that England has one world class strikers and bunch of world class wingers. I would also add that maybe they have the best wingers in the whole world. That includes Rashford as well as others like Saka, Foden... They also have excellent full backs. My only point was week center of midfield and generally heavily overpriced players which is not even up for discussion. You mentioned Stones, I will add Maguire and Sancho to the mix. Those players if they weren't English wouldn't cost more than 30M. Especially Stones and Maguire. If our Guardiol was born English he would not break just defender fee record he would go for prices almost like Neymar or Mbappe.

Oops, yeah I missed your full post and I felt Igebotz's quoted response was the main body of your post, however, I've read the full post and I strongly agree with most part of the statement, England probably have one of the best varieties of wingers, some fullbacks too, but they indeed are very subpar when it comes to creative CM, they have more of conventional AM, and then Southgate doesn't even go for the young lad with good prospects, TAA is a much better player than Henderson even in the midfield, I really don't who scouts for Southgate, but there are some younger CMs even from the English Championship clubs that I'd pick over those old and heavy legs he settles for.

That's some decent winnings, you've got there too, congratulations!
1342  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Nations League final four ⚽ on: June 15, 2023, 04:11:52 AM
The results were not too surprising, however, Croatia has been better than the Netherlands in recent years and even though the match was tied at 2-2 in 90 minutes, Croatia managed to get rid of the Netherlands in extra time. Luka Modric was so outstanding that he even played the full 120 minutes at the age of almost 38 and it was evident that his stamina was endless in such a fierce game. Victory 2-4 in extra time was very important for croatia to get them into the nations league final this year and now they just have to wait to see who their next opponent will be in the final whether it be italy or spain, let's see.

I was absolutely stunned by the Croatian team performance, it was very ruthless especially during the final 30 minutes of extra time, because I couldn't follow the game from the regular time, but when I got back from my daily routine and I saw the score line was even with 2 goals apiece, I suspected we could be in some drama down the stretch of the extra 30 minutes, and it turned out that I was not wrong after all, the Netherlands got totally exposed at the back and there could have easily been as many as 4-5 goal within those 30 minutes, Just when I thought Luka Modric have had his last dance in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, it seems he's just not done yet, well deserved recognition he got from the fans and even Ronald Koeman the Dutch coach also showed him a great gesture too.

Maybe I might not totally agree with Trofo's and Igebotz's assertion of all England players being overrated probably due to the exposure and quality of the league in general, I would say there are world class players spread all over the premier league but perhaps at different teams,

What made a world class player is consistency can we say that about any of the English player apart from Harry Kane?

In my opinion the world class "status" can be highly subjective, and is a very complicated adjective to use in football context, and it often doesn't relate directly to a players form for a year or two, but a player can be the best in the world for just a very short period, most times it's about the level (longevity) of consistency of their peak performance and sometimes are attributed to accolades personal or as a team, and I think people don't just fall off from the World Class criteria after they've attained such feat at any level of their career. Everyone would agree that Eden Hazard is (was) world class player right, but he never lived up to that expectation at Real Madrid, let's say due to series of injury problems, but that definitely didn't strip him from being classified as a World Class player right ?, the same thing can be said of Pogba at Juventus who nothing but fell off at Man United, along side Angel Di Maria...

All these 3 players are or were definitely World Class footballers in the sight of any football lover right ?, I'd say YES! but If Di Maria and Pogba's first spell had been at Man United, and Eden Hazard first was at Real Madrid, they'd likely have been classed as nothing but great prospective talents that eventually didn't materialized as people had expected right ?

I wouldn't compared Rashford to Mbappe for some certain reasons and I'm sure Mbappe have proved himself as a world class player definitely right, at country level and what about at club level, he's done some decent numbers too right ? but how terrible a player is Marcus Rashford to not worth the World Class calibre title ? and is Marcus Rashford actually overrated and would rot on the bench in each of the top 6 Ranked National Teams in the world right now namely; ?

1. Argentina
2. France
3. Brazil
4. Belgium
5. England
6. Netherlands
7. Croatia

With the status quo, I won't consider Rashford to be bench warmer in any of the teams listed above and would be a regular starter in more than otherwise, I would say the same for some players like Jack Grealish, Jude Bellingham, Nathan Ake, Mason Mount, Reece James, Phil Foden, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and the revolutionized John Stones. I'm not saying all of these players are worthy of the world class status yet, but then all of these players are one of the best in their positions in the world right now, barring any English media sentiment right ?, at least that's my opinion.

If we can all be quick to rate the likes of Vinicius Junior as a world class after just a couple of good spell at Real Madrid, I wonder what Rashford lacks than the opportunity to play under a good coaching environment to be a potential Ballon D'or contender and not just a world class talent.

Also All England players are overrated due to Premier League quality and rule that PL clubs have to have certain amount of English players.
Overated and lazy by default. Agreed.

Agree most of them are lazier than when they play club football, but I think, on evidence of what I see, at least Saka plays his heart out for club and country. That's kinda why I liked him a lot. But overall, they do suffer from being hugely overrated. I rarely enjoy watching England play, it's just not exciting stuff.

Do think that Southgate has reduced a lot of the club rivalry that got in the way of previous iterations, though.

Maybe I might not totally agree with Trofo's and Igebotz's assertion of all England players being overrated probably due to the exposure and quality of the league in general, I would say there are world class players spread all over the premier league but perhaps at different teams, but then I would say the major problem is the coach and players selection process, Southgate have a general stupid way of players selection and the fact that certain players almost have a guaranteed spot in the team because of the club they play in and that makes them lazy enough, I agree and secondly, Southgate is the most non-innovative national coach of the 21st century that I know, he literally just stick to what positions or role these players take up in their respective clubs then copy paste it to represent the national team, without due diligence or any form of competitive selection. There is at least one player from England in any tactical position right now that would walk right into any starting XI or prove a strong competition for any player in similar position in any team in the world right now regardless of where they rank in the world.

GG jayce, just glad we both gave it a good go, different answers to every question except City and Stanley Cup. I'm more relieved than anything to get a win in BSFL, which sort of goes to show what quality we're up against every week.

Nations League will be tricky, I think, because it'll be a glorified friendly and you can't trust coaches and teams to play the same way as in other competitive matches, and lineups aren't at all clear yet.

Slissy is up next, yikes *cracks fingers*
Ha, I have seen that match and gave it a derby title in my weekly article on Sportsbet. Go give it a read, especially if you like seeing your name online  Grin

https://sportsbet.io/sports/soccer/news/bitcoin-talk-sports-fanatics-league-1

And yes this means we have coverage on Sportsbet site as well as dedicated chat group there. Drop by and say hello to a couple of people that are playing with us but can't have bitcointalk account. This is of course invitation for everyone, not just buwaytress.

I actually got some chills down my spine after seeing my name appear of the platform, and this apparently 2nd or 3rd, and this shows how serious how SB are actually taking this, I just implore every other players to reciprocate the energy that Sportsbet.io is channeling into this competition and continue to do their due diligence and not just give free points to their, except against me (Of course, haha) as it only would only undermine their efforts and that of the CRO2 team as organizers, everyone have a life outside this room and yeah we know that, but if you can't spare less than 2 hours a week to do proper analysis on some sports you'd probably gamble on, or at least in the name of fairness don't just put some random BS without minimal effort trying to make findings about a sport you don't have a knowledge, it takes barely a couple minutes to get good information about these things and making an informative/opinion-based guesses, there is no fail proof to these questions, but it makes no sense putting no effort whatsoever.

Harkorede will be monitored closely for fears of insider information. It is almost unheard of for someone to get 8/10 correct answers  Grin

I also missed your mention, because I don't get notified for the acronym or abbreviation "Harko" you used, perhaps I might just add it to the notification checklist, but just so you know I'm up for the side bet 2 mBTC as usual is fine by me, just quote this post if you're on, before the spreadsheet goes live.

Since the game has not yet begun, we can continue with the bet. I'm in for the 2mbtc bet; it's always fun to play against you; most of our answers are different, so there's no way we'll draw this one.

Is there something we don't know because none of the Croatians believe in their team against the Netherlands?  Grin

Yeah, we are on!

I really don’t think it’s because they don’t believe in their team any, but I’d say it’s more like edging your bet here, at least that’s what I think, most would rather see their country in the finals and lose a point just, than otherwise in my opinion, and more so it doesn’t give their guesses away because some might are actually feel pretty good about getting a H2H advantage over when they’re quite familiar with your preferences. Or maybe I’m wrong totally and they’re more of an insider than we are, so maybe there’s more than what meets the eye in this instance.

BreakingNews> Igebotz Fc sacked coach after losing their first game against a promoted team.

Hahahah i like this kind of posts.
He didn't live up to expectations after investing £100m in the summer, and he nearly relegated the squad last season. I believe this is best for the club and the supporters.

We offered an offer to Zidane, but the fraud has avoided managerial positions since leaving Real Madrid because he is afraid of failure. He's been on vacation for many years now.

The assistant coach will take on Harko this weekend..
Open for side bet bro. ( Only after I check the questions  Grin)

Those who have bet for the game 5 to end with Nuggets are surely enjoying but I've got a lot of friends dismay on this ending because many of them thought that Miami got this, still props to them.

Miami Heat were by all margin the underdogs coming into this series, but the players I felt really sorry from the team would be Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry... Jimmy Butler trying to redeem himself late into to the game but still made and unforced turnover, that led to KCP steal to blow the margin into a 3 point game, when just proper awareness of his teams mates location would have made him noticed Bam Adebayo already free behind both Jokic and Jamal for what could have been an easy basket/shooting foul. And more so for a player with a series way below his usual standards, I can't fathom out his reason for taken such a terrible 3 point shot decision with over 14 secs left of the final 24 being down by 3, where there are other better 3 pointers that could have easily gotten a better look or a better shot at least, even if the basket was made, the Nuggets would still have 14 seconds to work with while having a timeout, that more than enough time to still get the win, I guess Jimmy Butler must have watched Jordan Poole a lot in the the playoffs this season and learnt quite some things from him  Angry

Finally, for Kyle Lowry he's arguably the best PG the Heat had all through this series even at age 37, and being on minute restriction the Miami Heat were always a better side with on the court and Butler off, than otherwise.

I'm really pleased with Inter Milan's performance in the first half, I kind of liked the way they have been able to keep Manchester City quiet in the game with their physicality and close marking. City had 2 targets on goal with one chance coming from Haaland. Kelvin Debruyne has been substituted in the 36th minute as a result of an injury with Foden coming in.  I'm impressed with the way Martinez and Barella are playing but Dzeko has been really hidden in the game. I don't know what to expect in the second half but I will be hoping to see the tactical changes of both Pep Gardiola and Simone Inzaghi.

I guessed Man City had the right approach at the end of the day, it wasn't an easy win by any stretch, because fought back enough Man City didn't lose their composure, and or got over aggressive in the process of their goal seeking chance, they were very balance all from the back to the front, and John Stone of course would be my man of the game because he literally on every single side and flank of the field, Foden also filled De Bruyne boots maybe not perfectly but he sure wasn't a downgrade for the injured De Bruyne.... Finally, I guessed Guardiola have earned the right to be called the best modern era coach and one of the best of all time, he's built a dynasty at every club he manages.

Re casperBGD and CLS63 Football has a horrible ticketing system. Huge corporate and tout allocations, that of course go to third party resellers. Someone needs to blockchain that to UEFA and FIFA so we really get a fair draw and allocations. It's pretty crazy that the best fans are usually priced out =( I can reasonably make financial arrangements to watch Liverpool every now and then if I wanted to but I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford even one game. The cheapest top league team ticket where I live is 15 euros, wtf right?

You are absolutely right. Tickets have gone on the black market now just as it happens every year. Even though UEFA know this situation they are still quite contented with it. You are applying for a ticket and they are informing you about it by an e-mail. I'm afraid there is no transparency.

I guess at the end of the day it's always never fair when it to comes ticket buying for all kinds of sports, it's always the big third parties that always get the most of them either buying from potential fans that aren't going to travel for the game, or from even as sales representatives for clubs, and all these happens in every major sport, boxing, football, cricket, golf and american football, and even in the NBA, it seems very unethical imo, but at the end it's legal as f!

Miami Heat starting to bring this game closer. Even though I put some bitcoin on the Denver Nuggets, I’d still like to see this game be a good one.  I don’t think the Heat will be able to close the gap though, and think Denver is just too strong for them. Jokic is just such a beast.

Hoping to see more “playoff Jimmy”. He’s not been that guy this series for some reason. Go

I guess it's high we just call this series what it really is, It's game for the Miami Heat, and I'm going to put majority of the blame on Butler yet again a 37 year Kyle Lowry still dropping credible numbers and plays, and the same goes for Kelvin Love, but Jimmy Butler saw Nikola Jokic out with 5 foul, I believe that was their best right time to charge and attack the rim with Jimmy Butler being the best man for the job, he did just once or twice and both were successful for FTs and the other was a basket and a chance at a 3 point play while already in the bonus, but he just wouldn't want to carry the game on himself as it should be, I wonder why with Jokic out and Jimmy not double teamed, he would rather have Bam Adebayo bring the ball from the back court all the to the front when Jimmy himself is better ball handler and could easily draw 'em fouls, but he decide to hide himself in the right corner and barely touched the in the last 2- 3, all we get for this series is "Jimmy Bottler"....

Denver Nuggets are the 2023 NBA Champions, with Jokic as the well deserved Finals MVP, you saw it here first..., Let's just wait for the official announcement on Tuesday.
1355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: June 10, 2023, 01:14:24 AM
Everybody knows this is the last chance for Heat. If they lose this one I believe the series will be over in Game 5.
When Jokić and Murray play this good Heat need to do something extraordinary both on defense and offense. Hopefully we'll watch a good game tonight.

The first quarter just ended with Jimmy Butler's 3 pointer buzz beater gave the Heat a first quarter 1-point lead, now into the 2nd Quarter without Jokic on Denver Nuggets bench, this might not be good for the Nuggets, if Jokic is unable to return into the game, and would put the Heat in drivers seat and dictate the game, without Jokic, I strongly doubt the Nuggets stands a chances tonight.

EDIT: The Joker has returned.
1356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: June 10, 2023, 12:23:26 AM
I totally agree with you guys on the Butler topic. He is really inadequate on the offensive side in this series which can lead Heat to lose easier than most of us expect. Butler needs to be more active with his steal attempts and scoring many more points than this at the same time. He has been the main factor in Heat's reaching this round in the playoff stage in the first place.

As you know Heat finished the regular season in 7th place in the Eastern Conference. As a result not many people including me were giving them a chance to have a run like this. Butler has done the biggest work in this time period by scoring a lot of points and carrying his team. He has become like Lakers' Lebron or Warriors' Curry.

Therefore Butler needs to be aware of the seriousness of the situation and do something.

It's definitely a gameover If Denver Nuggets should win this game 4, which I think they will unless Jimmy Butler choses to either step up today or sit out, and I really don't know when next he get a shot at winning a championship, should the Heat win the Championship this it's pretty obvious whose name would make the most story and it's that of Butler's over everyone else on the Heat roster, he's stated really with the Bucks and Celtics, but all that would have count for nothing if he folds now!

What NBA story could possible better than the 8th seeded team and with the most undrafted playing winning a championship while beating the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th best teams of the regular season enroute to the victory, and that'll make Jimmy go down as the first to have done it, I know they're some many record that have been broken this season and post alone by various teams or individual, but there is still a few more that could get broken too.

I hope Lautaro Martinez can steal the trophy from Guardiola's hands by managing to show an extra performance in the final match. As the final match is in my city, Istanbul I tried very much to buy a ticket but unfortunately I couldn't. It will be a disappointment for me to watch a Champions League finale to be played in Istanbul on television.

You probably didn't pay attention to it or who would make it to the finals, If you had known you would have gotten the ticket as early as you knew the match was going to take place in your city. I can only imagine what kind of experience it would have been for you see the game live, I mean crowd and the number of superstars you'd get to watch live all for the price of just a ticket, It must indeed be hurtful to have missed out on the ticket.

The ticket was sold out two days ago, on the 7th, and if he was serious about getting it, he would have bought one; it's been almost a month since the ticket was available for purchase, and the cheapest one was roughly £61, while the most expensive one was £599. I can't ever imagine missing such a major game in City. A great opportunity to keep a close eye on some of your favourites. Some memories last a lifetime, and the CL and World Cup finals are among them.

It would seem that easy bro, on paper at least or officially, only 47,200 tickets were available to the entire public and each team in the finals gets 20,000 tickets each, leaving the rest of the neutral fans over the world with 7,200 tickets, how long do you think it would have lasted before being sold out, or the chance of getting one from millions of applications and how much do you think it would cost on the black market, most tickets are often gotten through black markets or third party websites and would cost almost 10x if not more than they would according to the official prizes bro.

Tickets specifically for supporters of the two finalists are generally distributed by the clubs themselves. The identities of those two teams will be confirmed on May 16, when the semi-finals conclude.

The 2023 Champions League final tickets was on general sale in April 2023, and ticket applications were closed by UEFA on April 28. Successful applicants will be notified by email soon.

A total of 47,200 tickets out of 72,000 are made available directly for fans and the general public. The two finalists are allocated 20,000 each.

Champions League final tickets have already begun to appear on resale sites such as StubHub, with prices starting at just under €2,000.

Is there some other scoring system other than 3 points for a exact score, 1.5 for a close score, and 1 for a simple score? This can be interesting as it is possible that with a different scoring system, other guessing strategies will be more profitable.
It's possible that using multiple sites isn't that hard, but it seems to me that the chances of forgetting to make a forecast on time are higher than using one platform that constantly sends you notifications. Will see.

There are a number of options like Kicktipp which was used for the Bundesliga pool this season, it has an entirely different scoring system, but then I wouldn't want the current pool to be transitioned into another platform, I like how the current pools are split into different platforms for now, and I'll like to leave it that way to keep everything separated, to make the competition more worth while being spread across a couple platforms it helps have some level of fairness to people who would prefer this over that and are participants of major pools.

Damn it! I see that I have put Đoković and Alcaraz to fight in the finals in the Q9.
I found this odd when I last checked because these two were on the same branch and were never going to meet in the final, but sh*t happens. But for you  to survive this one is if Djokovic comes up with an upset using some old tricks that come with experience of the game as his still rusty but still a threat.

This is for sure is an upset according to bookies and the seedings, but the scores and score line suggest completely otherwise, Alcaraz was completely neutralize, I mean losing 6-3, 6-1, 6-1 from just for 4 sets of play is way short of the expectations of the match, especially if Djokovic is to be returned as the winner of the match up, he showed us how much of a veteran he still is, can either Rude vs Zverev stop him now, I guess not!
