Looks like Serbia is gonna lose, 3/4 is good enough for me though. Grin Grin Grin Grin

Crazy stuff, Serbia is going to mess things up for me to get a perfect 4/4 there, already down by 29 points at half time, I don't think there is any coming back from this as far as I can tell, so me and Slackovic would share equal score here, but he'll need to win the F1 fixture to earn a draw, because I'm still having a point advantage, which just one question to go.

Looks like the same scenario between me and slackovic, the group stages ended exactly how I expected it to turn out and I have Turkey, USA, Serbia and Spain. and we only have Spain and USA as common pick and I already have the advantage with Turkey win against Canada, so the worse thing that could happen to me now is the question being a draw, and should Serbia win, I'm victorious for the week already.

Looks like you are gonna have to postpone your victory at least until the Sunday. If I win the F1 questions, I'll get a draw at best. And if I loše it, you are gonna win and I will mark another loss in the Div 1. It looks like the Div 1 is really tough. I do hope I will nit get relegated right away...

Yeah right, I was on the verge of submitting my post before the notification of a new post popped up and it was your post, I guess I was right after all, I was confident of Turkey winning but Serbia losing like this isn't something I foresaw at all.

Hey guys,

With the English Premier League set to kick-off on August 12, we wanted to give everyone the chance to get excited for what should be another fun and competitive season  Cool

Sponsorship
*  Sportsbet.io has agreed to continue the tradition with a generous 200 mBTC sponsorship   (Big thanks to Steve)
*  If we get our usual 50-60+ entrants, that brings the total pot to 325-350 mBTC+
*  The entry fee will be 2.5 mBTC and I'll leave the pot breakdown for hilariousandco to decide

Free Bets
*  There are 38 weeks in the season with the Yellow Cap winner(s) receiving a 3 mBTC Free Bet each week
*  In addition, there will be Exclusive Prediction Contests for paid entrants throughout the season; so plenty of opportunities to win additional Free Bets

Let's try to break last season's record of 61 paid entrants and get an even bigger pot  Smiley

This really is an enormous sponsorship again, wow!

I hope we can get as many users more than those of the previous seasons, and the weekly free bet also is something worth playing for the entire 38 weeks, I just hope I'll do much better this season, because I fell off totally in the last edition.

It's better to have the signup thread available as soon as possible so that there will be enough time for a wider audience reach and also enough time for everyone interested to join in.  Smiley

Good for me, my opponent will only get 2 correct max (USA and either France/Serbia who play each other later). I already have one from Spain, so we will at worse, draw this question, giving me the victory this round.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have a deal for Mason Mount with Chelsea for 60mil

The deal it’s done weeks ago

Strange deal this one in my opinion. I really don’t think he’s that good. Maybe they think it’s good to have anotger homegrown player due to the rules around having a certain amount of English players in the squad.

I just don’t think he’s a great player, maybe the takeover isn’t as close as we’re led to believe because surely if Qatari owners with deep pockets were coming then better players would be targeted.

British tax

I'm a Chelsea fan, but aside from being a high presser, I'm not sure what Mount is really good at; we all thought he was going to be the next Lampard owing to the English media hype.

I'm sure if Chelsea hadn't been in danger of losing him for free next season, his asking price would have been higher. English players are prohibitively pricey.

My problem with Chelsea is that they often play their players out of position with different players playing together while having different ideas and I'm not sure of the last Chelsea coach that have a squad or starting xi, playing in their rightful position and having one specific goal or philosophy, Havertz playing as Centre forward was the height for me, and every Chelsea fans blames a fish for its inability to sing, Mason Mount is just another player that you really can't place a specific attribute to, unlike Havertz who is very technically good player imo, but as No 10, or just behind the striker, while I would rather play Mason Mount as a LM, because he might not be the best individual player, he's a very good team player and players like that really cannot be attributed to just one skillset, but are pivotal to a team's general chemistry. That's why most the new Chelsea signing haven't figure their shit out either, there need to be an adaptive game plan and general structure, not just having 11 players on the field leaving them to just go figure it out themselves.

~Snipped.

Arsenal are the big losers here in terms of amount paid, Chelsea paid 80m and Havertz have already played for 3 seasons at the club, Chelsea weren't desperate to keep Havertz and were looking to offload significant amount players, and I don't think Kai Havertz was an exception, but Arsenal appearing desperate is surely why Chelsea had needed to play hard to get, because Mason Mount to Man United deal is supposedly going back and forth for within the range of 50-55m, I don't understand why Havertz should be significantly costlier than even an English player (that are supposedly costlier due the hype/tax and whatnot) for Arsenal. I understand the age factor, but Man City had just signed Mateo Kovacic for just 25m from the same Chelsea, while Declan Rice with one year contract left on his contract (with an option of one year more) will cost them 100m or nothing.  Shocked

For a team that nearly clinched the PR title, I'm not surprised by their high level of activeness in this transfer market. I heard that Arteta is one of the driving forces of their current negotiations and signings. I believe he knows what he wants and will do what he needs to get the results he needs next season. I wouldn't say Havertz is top class player even though he was the deciding factor in Chelsea's victory against Man city in the champions league final in 2021. Congratulations and good luck to Arsenal.

It's worth noting that Arteta is strengthening only midfield and attack sections of his squad. Looks like a plan to me.

Arsenal and Arteta strengthening their squad isn't my problem but they're doing it ridiculously with paying these outrageous fees for players that aren't worth it or even had a spectacular season at least, paying such fees for Havertz who played in 35 of 38 matches for Chelsea this season but only scored 7 and assited only once, Eddie Nketiah off the bench was literally more productive than Havertz was last season, I'm not saying that makes him a better player than Havertz, but makes the outrageous fees Arsenal paid a dumb move, and now they're threading the same path with Declan Rice saga, Partey was a better DM than Rice was last season imo, and Arsenal would be better off not parting ways with over £100m plus addons for Rice, especially with his contract almost running out already at West Ham, and they could get for almost free next season, getting Declan Rice would not by any means increase their chances of winning the title race, imo opinion.

We can also make a trick question and intentionally give you a player that is likely to drop out due to injury. This is sports fanatics league and we expect you to know everything about every sport  Grin

Yeah, that's what I initially felt this was because there are some players that ones they are given options, they don't try to do any research hence giving their opponents an unfair advantage, that we all were against but for those that didn't both submit their picks, at least there is a player in this round that wrote just USA and Spain in the FIBA u19 question.

So, It would have been very fine with me if that was the case in this scenario, but that'd have meant you already knew he wasn't going to play hence making it unfair, but from the way the question was asked and I was sure that you guys had no idea De Minaur had withdrew even before question was posted here, so that's why it wasn't an issue with me at all, however, going forward including this type of question might to some players beat the idea of fairness because either of you who sets the specific question would have known the answer beforehand, so that's like being one question ahead already, which is why those type of questions might really not work, myself personally, is very much okay with such question since it's expected of every user to do their due diligence on each question, but then I'm not everybody, so I can only speak for myself.

I actual feel confident of my FIBA U19 predictions at the worse we'll get a draw on that I believe, but the F1 is a game of fate for me, and maybe I might finally get to watch my first F1 race that I'll full attention to, that's provided there is no Tennis game I prefer already scheduled for the same time.

About the news I don't think I can complain too much since a lot of players clamoured for it, so it's fine by me! A rule for one is a rule for all.

I hope there is a better solution like the form being editable until he deadline, but I don't know the possibility of that being feasible, and I agree this might be for the greater good, but I don't think I'm the only one who make some picks already after opening the form since progress are saved until I'm sure that I don't need to make any further changes before submitting.

And no, you are not the only one who chooses his picks when opening the form for the first time and then change saved answers later. I do it too.

That's my point because having made certain picks already and waiting until sometime early on Tuesday, it literally means we all aren't waiting for any further information that could influence our decisions.

So I'm not sure how that would affect me, because about the tennis issue, by the time I first opened the form and up until when I submitted pick he wasn't in the Bracket so, I just didn't know well enough that a player that isn't currently in the bracket is not participating in the tournament and the sites I quoted yesterday stated that he wouldn't start from the first round so I thought until is opponent was known, only then would he available in the bracket so that's on me and my knowledge of tennis, If I had waited for even one minute before deadline, I still wouldn't have come across his withdrawal information and it's most likely due to being an ATP 250 tour was why the news wasn't an easy reach as at Monday and very early Tuesday, because I did check more than 5 times. I'm just trying to reiterate that me choosing De Minaur was never a case of how early or late I submitted my picks, it's rather about how familiar I was with Tennis rules regarding player withdrawal, I've never witnessed a player withdrawing that early with almost zero information about it, or I sure do usually find them in the bracket with the withdrawal or walkover/retired status but now I've got a very clear knowledge of it, I'm very sure!, and the same can be said for people who have in the past picked players that were to meet in the QF or earlier as their semi finalist answers, while that could be seen as playing it safe to get at least one answer right if 2 highly ranked/seeded players fall in the same bracket category in early rounds, but what about someone picking players from different tournament last week ?

In essence, I like how much efforts the CRO2 team are putting into this competition, making it better by every opportunity that arrives, and I hope there wouldn't be any further complications caused by this implementation of VAR.

EDIT: And for a slight suggestion: At the end of the season if there are players that cannot be separated points, SD, SA, H2H and other criteria that are already defined, should the player with the less VAR used have the edge ?
1289  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 29, 2023, 12:33:27 PM

Havertz is a done deal for Arsenal officially. Chelsea are still not in profit in this deal though considering how much money they spend on his transfer before - €80m. But at least they managed to prevent a huge loss for themselves. His market value has dropped significantly meanwhile and I would have never expected him to be signed for this much money honestly.

I wonder why Arsenal were okay to spend €75m in total for Havertz. Chelsea didn't make him play in his natural position mostly maybe. But we still don't know how beneficial he would be for Arsenal even though I wouldn't expect Arsenal to do the same as Chelsea.

Arsenal are about to spend a huge sum this summer considering Rice signing also. I hope Havertz and Rice both show a really impressive performance in the new season.

I already said it on this thread over and over again, that I'm done with Tsitsipas until he gets back to the form that made and got him to number 5th in the world men tennis ranking.

Dude was top seeded so he got a pass in the round 32/ first round, but at the first opportunity he gets, he's out ?! what a clown man has become...

And precisely that decision gave you one point against me. I decided to give him a chance for one last time and he screwed me again. I hope I'll do better in the basketball u19 and F1 questions so I can claim my second win in the division 1.

I really don't know if it's booby trap from Cro2 team, but if that's he case I would rather we don't have this kind of questions that are inconclusively, If when I did my research and it was stated that Alex De Minaur would not be participating, I will get it that they just want everyone to do their due diligence, but I don't know if in Tennis a player can join just along the way without starting the from the first round, just like it's not every one that would participate in Wimbledon have play through the qualifiers.

So If Alex De Minaur isn't going to participate in Eastbourne, then it's an invalid question, at least that's my opinion.

I don't think that it's a booby trap question from the Cro2 team. De Minaur was probably scheduled to participate at the tournament while they were writing the questions. That's precisely the reason why I always wait for Tuesday to give my answers because with tennis you never know. I don't think that it should be invalid question because everyone had time to wait and see that he withdrew from the tournament. It's similar as if he was injured and had to withdraw.

If the competition had started to begin with before he withdraw drew to injury or other issue, it would be understandable, but his name wasn't even in the bracket at all, If it was, it would have be recorded as Walkover or Retirement, in that case then it's fine, but in this case he replaced by another player, as a new draw was made.

There is no sportbook that would have settled the bet as lost, if you placed an outright on him to win the tour or going further than some other player.

I'll leave the decision to Cro2 team to decide according to their initial intention of the question, if it was intentional, I'm sure it would have been graded already by now on the spreadsheet.

Just by looking at the H2H and recent games, they didn't seem like -2.5 Handicap team for Canada, it was an easy decision...

On the Tennis question, I think the question should be null and avoid, how can some not playing in a tournament get eliminated, and I did research on the tournament after not finding him on the bracket, and I'm sure there was a link that mentioned that he would join the tournament from a specific round or so.

I experienced the same problems. I looked up the bracket and schedules on many livescores but couldn't find Alex De Minaur fixtures but I just went ahead and picked him because of his seed ranking and since I don't know much about tennis fixtures and stuff like that but if the question was set on purpose only the Cro2 team can clear that up, I also noticed that the Cro2 team went the other way round just like the majority of the members, there could have been a mix up somewhere and I'd love to hear their explanation

For the Canada game; some.of you really thought Canada is a good football team? Fellas they only have mid players with 1 world class LB  Grin

I followed the first half. I was going to choose Georgia as the group leader. However I changed my mind after the equalizer that came in the last minute. Because Netherlands were way ahead in the statistics. I still can't believe this match ended up with a draw.

I had similar thought about this. At first I chose Georgia as group leader but then I thought there is no way that Netherlands is going to get 3 draws in a row so I changed that to runner up. I was even quite confident that they are going to win against Georgia especially after they scored the equalizer just before the first half ended  Roll Eyes. What a start for us thanks to Netherlands

I knew the first half would have been concluded before deadline, but I literally just didn't care about it because I knew it wouldn't give me any advantage, so I submitted my pick from the first glance of opening the questions after my due diligence, that's why I'm one of the first people to submit their answers.

Guadelope is on the verge of giving me another correct answer, I was happy when they took the lead and when into halftime with the lead, Canada is now up 2-1 with 4 minutes to go.

EDIT: They've the equalizer it's 2-2 now, wow!

@notblox1 I really don't even don't think Trofo is the one in charge of setting this question and as far Esports
Yes he is, everyone knows this except you Wink

Probably because I pay more attention to the question rather who sets what, honestly, but I totally understand your concerns too, but I'm glad it's bants and just observations.

Nice, Guadeloupe held and covered the handicap against Canada. After last week's gold cup question, I learned not to underestimate the underdog.  Wink

1.
Third seed Alex De Minaur is on a hot run on grass and can see his path to another final opening up from his round of 16 opener.

De Minaur starts against either Frenchman Gregoire Barrere or Finn Emil Ruusuvuori.

Should seeding hold in the Aussie’s quarter he will face Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic in the last eight.

2.
The third quarter of the draw is led by third seed Alex de Minaur, who reached the final at the Queen's Club. Known for his speed and agility, de Minaur has an impressive grass-court game. He could potentially face Gregoire Barrere or Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round, both of whom can pose a significant challenge.

I know I will play Fantasy Pool even if we don't have sponsors. My favorite pool by far this season Smiley
I totally agree with you... this year I'll probably drop out of other pools to focus on Fantasy (if all goes well it's quite possible we'll see a few sponsors).  Cheesy

I'll remain here as well, but I wouldn't be dropping out of any major pool either...

If there is anything I've noticed about most of the pools I participate, the more attention and I put into it, the more horrible I perform at it, this concluded season was the first time I'll fall out of a prize slot in the Uefa Champions League after 4 years or thereabout, and the first in the PL in the last few season as well, but these were my major focus all season long including the FPL, I go as far as having a draft potential picks from Monday and watch the trends at least once to twice daily, but that didn't save me from performing woefully, and there I go doing rather well in Bundesliga and Serie A, both languages from which I don't understand a single word from... While I still suck at La Liga despite being Barcelona fan  Huh Coincidence ? I don't think so... I'll only just participate in as many pool as I can possibly monitor and submit my picks weekly for, imo, that'd increase my chances of finishing well in one of them.

Why don't some of you take that opportunity and give yourself an advantage? But it doesn't work that way since when I am making the questions and answering them I am in totally different states of mind. Try it and see for yourself.

I might have an idea on this, it's just going to be an extra work for you and cryptofrka, I suggest that you create a new form a perhaps 10 maximum entries of possible questions for the next round when publishing a new round questions, and there will also be a deadline for all submission maybe Friday, where users submitting the questions could be or not be anonymous, but will have to fill in a couple of criteria; like category the question fall under, starting date and ending date, is the event confirmed to hold or there is a possible of delay beyond the ending day of the week, then the question which should be at least 2 or more, you don't have to ask the questions verbatim, but it will bring new ideas of possible questions, and show another level of transparency from you guys.

As for me, this is not any form of d*ck riding because I don't even communicate with either of you except on these gambling threads, but in all fairness you both are doing a great job without any form of bias, the questions aren't straight and nobody gets an edge when you to pick questions with entangled clauses that have no feasible answers because the opinions on a each clause of the question are often repelling just like like charges in physics, or are logically 2/3 opposing scenarios.

EDIT:

MMA is often a this or that question except they'll have to include the likes of knockout or winning strategy like UD and SD, but you should know that most of us including me isn't familiar with MMA, and would rather just follow the sportbook odds like I would do for Formula 1 as well.

Like NBA or tennis (this or that lol) except to include number of sets or games, MMA has many more combinations. I knew zero about it too until I played prediction contests from Sportsbet Smiley Actually I still know 1% about it but at least UD and SD like you said are familiar to me now.

They're completely different in terms of the way the question can be asked, for a full tour of about 64 matches combination gets played within 7 days and you're to pick the finalist, that can never be compared to MMA where there is often an easy way to answer question imo, if it's 3 round, I'll always go for UD on the favorite, I might likely be right 6/10, or 0/10, but I'll fancy my chances with the former, the NBA question that were asked were a combination 4 different match ups a couple of times too, I even believe the highly ranked boxing events with 12 rounds will be tougher to guess/predict than MMA, but I'm not against having MMA questions, because I now spend most of my Saturday or Sunday nights to watch every single fixture even the prelims, especially when I put in my prediction SB sponsored thread by jeremypwr and that's how I often find out if there is a Fight Night, or UFC round for the weekend generally.

Sour looser, my favorite kind, means I got into your head  Grin You should have won this one long before DOTA, by far my worst round and only win of the season. RNG at its best. I feel the same about all American sports. To make it worse Americans themselves classified them as entertainment so that players can use any substance they want.
Nobody here likes DOTA except you, so I am not a sour loser Trofo, and you are taking advantage because you follow video games that are not sport.  Grin
American sport is a sport, and nobody can deny that, but I dont follow NFL, baseball and many other sports.
This round was bad for most people so I wont complain much, but congrats to all the winners.

Hey guys, I hope this is not becoming some personal attacks and what have you.

Dota 2 has a large esports scene, with teams from around the world playing in various professional leagues and tournaments. Valve organizes the Dota Pro Circuit, which are a series of tournaments that award qualification points for earning direct invitations to The International, the game's premier tournament held annually. Internationals feature a crowdfunded prize money system that has seen amounts in upwards of US$40 million, making Dota 2 the most lucrative esport. Media coverage of most tournaments is done by a selection of on-site staff who provide commentary and analysis for the ongoing matches similar to traditional sporting events. In addition to playing live to audiences in arenas and stadiums, broadcasts of them are also streamed over the internet and sometimes simulcast on television, with several million in viewership numbers.

@notblox1 I really don't even don't think Trofo is the one in charge of setting this question and as far Esports is concern it's almost synonymous to tennis, no average middle aged guy loves Tennis outrightly, but we are forced to learn more about them and all I can say after a couple of months of consistent viewership is that I'll definitely take some Alcaraz vs a below 30 ranked player now rather than watch Brighton vs Chelsea football come the regular football season, but still I barely put my money on Tennis because the odds and chance doesn't correlate in my opinion.

MMA is often a this or that question except they'll have to include the likes of knockout or winning strategy like UD and SD, but you should know that most of us including me isn't familiar with MMA, and would rather just follow the sportbook odds like I would do for Formula 1 as well.

I have be clamoring for CS:GO questions not because it's the perfect spectrum for me, but at least I understand their players aim when streaming and how it work generally so it's literally fun watching for me, meanwhile I just stream Dota 2 for hours, I see kills scores but I really still don't understand major concepts like pros and cons of it, I just follow the commentary to know which team is having a better chance/game.

It only shows that nobody is having it fair and square here, the aim oof the sponsor is to bring wide audience to other sports, and in my opinion it is working, the only solution about MMA or UFC questions is that the Cro2 team can reach out to jeremypwr he knows the order of importance and expected spectators of these matches, perhaps it could be of help going forward.

Germany U21 is doing so bad lately, let's give it another shoot.  Cheesy

Thanks for another sweet free bet @Sportsbet.io! Really appreciated.  Smiley

This is a good value bet imo, the England u21 squad are really and other than Germany being on the edge here, there is nothing else that could have made England be offered at such value against this awful German side, I might take the England win too, England double with a couple of other options as a betbuilder, and that would include Germany under 1.5 goals, maybe over 19.5 bookings too, and some corners to get a good 4-5 Odds.

I'm actually more surprised by the Georgia U21 side, coming into the tournament as an underdog in a group of supposed predators, but are currently at the top of the table and are still unbeaten with a high chance of qualifying for the next round.

Did you watch the game between Bautista-Agut and Medvedev @Harkorede? I watched it for 20 minutes and when you mentioned the body language here, I think you know exactly what we are talking about... I have made bad experiences going with Medvedev in the past and this was again a game when he totally denied to keep playing sometimes, laughing all the time about his unforced errors and about Bautista-Agut points. It came to a point when I thought that it is disrespectful towards the audience who bought tickets to see him. He literally played at times like he would be playing a fun match against his little 5 year old in the garden. The whole body language, the gestures, that was ridiculous. You could see that he cares zero about Halle.
It is not about Halle it is about who Medvedev is and that is why I don't like him as a player. If you comb trough posts in tennis topic you will find that I mentioned several times in the past that he managed to lift his game high enough that he isn't getting pressured that often. But you will see that behavior emerge here and there throughout the season. That body language simply can't exit in top athlete behavior.

I agree that this is a character issue and then I check his stats and think, well if he has one of those good days he is probably going to win this game. Then I am angry at myself because he has again one of those weird body language games in which he should just withdraw and that's it. But still he has a 5-9 record against Djokovic and even won against him at the US Open and in 1000er ATP tournaments. How does he do that when simultaneously he can also play the worst of the worst and even look like a clown while playing shit?

As was said before here, Tsitsipas and Medvedev and I would even add Zverev to the list of players that are unpredictable.

I believe that is what sets Alcaraz and Ruud apart from this league, the hunger and passion is always there even when they're having a terrible day, they still manage to be there and show some great body language and will power, that's all sometimes we need as fans to keep supporting or stanning a specific athlete.
