I was expecting Chelsea to win today. However they couldn't even manage to equalize the score after the opponent started to play with 10 players.

Chelsea were at some point very good today, but especially after going a goal down, but after the restored parity they couldn't find away back before West Ham was finally able punish them for the inconsistencies with the ball and creativity in the final third. I think the Chelsea team are still pretty much unstable, but they will find their rhythm at some point as the season progresses, Pochettino still doesn't have a first choice starting eleven yet, so until he does arrive at it, you can still expect this level instability from the team.

Couldn't have Liverpool and Chelsea convinced Jude Bellingham in some way instead of paying these numbers for Caicedo?

Money can buy you players but can't buy you points was what we learned from Chelsea today their 2nd most expensive transfer of all time missed a penalty to put them ahead, and the game surely could have turned out differently had Enzo scored the penalty, while their most expensive player of all time was the one that gave away the penalty that ensured Chelsea stood no chance of getting any point from the match. Moisés Caicedo is actually a very fantastic player but he's definitely worth nothing near half the price Chelsea had to pay for him, and Brighton aren't looking like a team who misses him anyway, while having an heavy fortune in bank for him.

Chelsea actually does need a couple of attacking variations, especially with Nkunku's injury, not C(D)Ms, Lavia and Caicedo were just misplaced priorities imo, why fix something, when it's not faulty?

efialtis aka BTCGOSU missed the whole matchday and didn't give any picks and there is no need to say a word about my score Tongue
here is the matchday and total overview (the 2nd one will follow...)

I saw he missed to submit any of the bonus question either, he could still catch up despite missing a match day, but those bonus points could come back to be very important come the end of the season.

---------------------

I didn't start well, or let me just say we've got some really good new comers, the obvious one won the first round flawlessly, getting points from each of all the fixtures.

Westham giving Chelsea a good beating just to remind them on how tough & brutal the Premier league can be...[ team Chiwell blank ]

I couldn't feel much than knowing I have Areola on the bench, he saved a penalty, a couple of other saves for 8 points already, plus 2 extra ones in coming for a total of 10 points, while Pickford with zero points was my starting GK... 10 solid points would have made all the difference in the world right now for me.

--------------------------

I couldn't feel worse than Chelsea, because I can't imagine breaking the record of the most expensive penalty in the world, ~120m pounds worth of penalty  Grin

I had so much enthusiasm after Matt Turner and Onana didn't keep a clean sheet in their respective games, and in so much anticipation for Everton playing against Aston Villa, but the only thing Jordan could Pick up today is fouls, a yellow card and goals  Embarrassed

I could have been better off sticking with Areola, because his saves will come in handy against Chelsea, I reckon  Huh

At least Watkins damage is barely minimal too, for now  Wink

Edit:

Thank Goodness Watkins is off, but Jordan can't save his own life today, if goals were bullets, what a thwart!

I'm definitely going to be chasing big odds of at least 1k+ for the rest of this week, because I'm feeling super lucky and I don't intend to slow down the momentum after hitting the nail right on the head in final 4-3-Free of Women World Cup, could there have been a better time to come fully alive, that when all the leagues are fully back? I don't think so!

I'm trying to imagine what the odds would have been, If I had managed to put these selections together as a betbuilder, decent odds right?  Cool Cool Cool

Now waiting for Man City, How will Haaland score again as captain of my team? Ohh sure he scores again. LOL

Now I can breathe a sigh of huge relief, Haaland racking up points today would have been very detrimental for my week given that a lot people didn't mind Man City playing against Newcastle.

Haaland actually had a couple chances, that he would have scored on an average day, but he just could not find his magic touch today and Newcastle defense combined with Nick Pope's making some huge saves was enough to keep Haaland down to earth for today, so no damages done, and taking out Bruno Fernandes for Salah seemed to have paid off for me after all, not a wasted transfer, I must say.

Jawbreaker, Joao Pedro starts from the bench and Welbeck leads the attack for Brighton, now a lot of think to do for managers like me begin with potential Wissa and Mbuemo switch along the line, it's too early ffs  Huh

For our consolation hope he gets in as a super sub and gets on the scorecard Roll Eyes

Yes! He was indeed our super-sub, he came on and deprived us that single point he got by picking up a yellow, such a bummer for this gameweek! Along side my clumsy captain who had to miss a penalty before he eventually scored the goal.

A blank from Haaland would be the biggest consolation of the week for me, Mbuemo already making it huge for his owners  Lips sealed

Not surprised about Perdro he missed so many scoring opportunities last match. There is Ferguson and Wellbech as option trust me there is going to be a heavy rotation in that position. Only Mitoma and Estu position are secured. Watkins time to deliver!!!

I believe Joao Pedro place is actually more secured, and only Mitoma has better chances than him in attack though, because he could play any where upfront too, and Mitoma did missed as many chances too, and Welbeck did the most of chance wastage if you ask me.

Speaking of Liverpool's defense and TAA as a 8m defender, the clean sheet is already out of the picture as early as the third minute against f**king Bournemouth, when does it actually end, so It's a goal or a couple of assist from TAA today again or it's another week of wasting public funds on misplaced priority  Shocked

EDIT:

Mitoma and Estu already at it with a goal and assist respectively to give Brighton the lead.

Harkorede - If Pep is attempting to create and transfer Gvardiol to the LB position, then implies Stones and Dias/Akanji will play at the CB. My major issue is Stone's fitness; if he stays fit, I believe he will play more games than Gvardiol.

Stones could have prevented that Seville goal you know? He's very good in the air.

Yeah, I think it's just for the time being, just to help grow some confidence before slotting right into the center of the defense because a lot of pass decision making will be required of him, and he can't afford to lose his confidence just before he gets the chance to prove he's world class.

Hhampuz seems like you're going to win our side bet although I expect Gvardiol injury episodes to start soon too. ( not wishing him bad but both are injury prone players)

The thing is with Guardiola his rotation policy are very and reduces the chances of injury even to injury prone players, I remember what almost every sport analyst had to say about Haaland's injury worries when he was signed last season, but Guardiola the rotation policy helped him as many matches as possible without taking unprecedented risks.

I really don't think Gvardiol would miss out on so many matches and Guardiola having him play at left back for now in my opinion means he's trying to work on his ball playing skills so in no time, you can expect a new defense general  Wink

We are all for Turner no clean sheet tonight aren't we?
no clean sheet for Matt Turner, Sheffield ruined it.

That's a win for those who don't have him, I actually expect him to rally a lot of points when Nottingham start playing mid tier table and he gets the save points that's expected of him.

Awoniyi scores again in his second game and first start in this season. Good points for whoever has him on their team. He is an efficient player for Forest with the ability to score in every game he plays for them. The big hopes for him is that he does not get injured.

He's their talisman, with 11 goals + assists last season in 27 appearance, he's sure going to get into my team when I'm sure about he's secured spot and or during blank or DGWs, there are just better 6.5m alternatives right now with better team structure, imo.
1073  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: August 18, 2023, 08:29:28 PM
I'm not too concerned about Salah. He always turns up. TAA clean sheets is still a penalty worth taking I think. 3rd best defender returns last season, even with such a bad performance. He has to improve, no?

My problem is that there is going to be distinct improvement to Liverpool's midfield and that could have TAA play a bit more towards the flank, he's good with those cross-field passes and he'll likely link better now with Salah moving a bit inward rather than the extreme right flank.

But paying 8m for him, while I'd expect 20-30 points difference from a good choice 5m defender for instance, the extra 3m can help get a MD player Martinelli over Enzo, or Saka instead of Rodri.

So for now, I'll take a 3rd defender like Estupinian (5m) and either of Saka or Martinelli, than TAA and midfielder like Enzo or Rodri.

What happen in this thread? really quiet righ now, just before the start of this round, what its this smell? Ahhhh right fear, fear of my comeback i guess...

Yes i noted the Luton game was postponed, but like you said i think not so much people really cares about it.

It's supposed to just as quite, I'm not sure any cares about the fixture for tonight either, except those who've got Matt Turner as their Goalkeeper, or brought him in if their first choice GK is having a tougher fixture than Sheffield Utd playing Nottingham.

If there is anything I'm actually curious about right in the pool, that would be the captain choices for this week in the pool, I'm expecting variety of choices.

I'm just going to drop mine, I captain Mo Salah, I don't think there is anyway Liverpool would repeat a 9-0 win over Bournemouth without Mo Salah being responsible for less than a hattrick and a couple of assists  Grin meanwhile someone should wake me up when I'm being credited with the just 4 points for my captain choice Cheesy

Thank you cygan and Sportsbet once more. Will be my first time using kicktipp and I already see some differences with Superbru but everything else looks no brainer

Yes, last season was my first time of even hearing about Kicktipp, let alone using it, but I just love the simply and very light weight of the page, I'm sure it will load effortlessly even on an Edge or 2G internet speed/device and all through last the season there was never a downtime or lagging page load time, that we'd often encounter on SuperBRU.

Looks like there have been a rule change made to scoring of points for draw matches, compared to how it were last season, it seems every draw gets 3 points first instead of the formal 2 points, or just 4 points outright, looks good to me, because settling for a draw is gutsy to begin so getting just 2 points for going with 0-0, when a match ends 1-1 doesn't look fair enough to me before.

EDIT:

I'll be happy if Bremen score a goal tonight, even at the expense of my pick =)

I was about to say that didn't take long after Bayern Munich had scored their first goal off the season Harry Kane already making is mark in the Bundesliga with an assist, and Werder Bremen struck back just 4 minutes later, only to have it ruled out for an offside, If they could have had such chance this early, then 90 minutes is still a long way to get one legitimate goal, right ?

The third place play-off match will be between two teams Sweden vs Australia. Among these two teams we can select as strong, it is difficult to predict which team will perform well and win. However, although Sweden women's team is in position but Australia is also strong, it is very difficult to predict which team will finish third. I think against Sweden, Australia can take third position if Australia play well in the game.
Match win
Sweden Vs Australia

I leaning more towards Sweden, they are the better side in my opinion, and luck have been more on the Sweden's team side too so I'd have to finish third place, while I'm all Spain to win the tournament.

It's about damn time they do! They have a very decent team and have their team playing at the highest of stands in Europe too, then why the hell not ? It would be a deserving for which team wins it, but if there is any team I felt really sorry for and I think they deserve to have reached at least the semi finals would be the Japanese team, they were my team of the tournament, they just got really unlucky imo.

TAA I kept in, hoping Klopp will use him as midfield (so I get a free mid using defender slot).

If Liverpool's defense is still as shitty as this, I don't think I'll ever think of owning TAA, I'm expecting goals from him, but a couple of attacking returns yeah, mostly assists, but if the basic expectation of a clean sheet is out of play, I'm never getting a 8m defender, I'd rather use 3 at the back and go all out on a second or third premium midfield/forward where I don't get deducted points for goals conceded, hopefully the acquisition of Endo would make it a more stable system, but as for now, all I can foresee is a timebomb squad especially after Mo Salah reaction in the last fixture despite being nothing but missing in the majority of the second half before being substituted out.
1079  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 16, 2023, 10:23:04 PM
It doesn't need to be heavily moderated to work, it's just about the OP stating the rules of engagement in the thread in the first post...
The thread creator will also expect to personally scrape finalized bets from the different threads cause many users will not report their bets there, not by choice but cause they forgot about the thread at the time when the sidebet was made.
With careful planning and effort from the OP, it can work.

- Jay -

I think you're getting my idea quite in a wrong way, the OP doesn't have to monitor anyone's side bets for them, it's literally going to be an open thread for those who have proposed sidebets to each other on any thread, La Liga, Premier League, BSFL just any thread, having proposed their bets terms and agreement on those thread, the side bets thread would only serve as a thread for documentation, and it's not going to have 50 post in just one or two days because there shouldn't be any form of multiple discussions there, just one party posting the details of their already agreed bet terms, and the opponent quote the post as an indication of accepting the bet, when the bets eventually gets settled, it takes just one of both parties to state that the bet have settled/paid.

Man City are finally have two European titles right, I was actually anxious that the same fate of the shield could end repeating it self, and that would have been such a blow because who knows when next they'll get the chance for another one, but as fate would have it, they were the one who had to come from behind this time around, so they won the penalties, while it was vice versa against Arsenal.

I'm sure every Man City fan or player would pick this victory over that one against Arsenal.
1080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 16, 2023, 07:48:15 PM
I really like the idea of a spreadsheet, but I think would it be better to perhaps have a thread specifically for this in the gambling discussion ?
The thread will have to be heavily moderated to be effective and if it gets the expected traffic readers will have to skim through pages to be able to see the sidebet they are searching for. It seems much easier to go through a spreadsheet which can be updated by a certain user.

A thread could work if a certain user takes it on themselves to take all the sidebets from the different threads and edit it into a new thread.

- Jay -

It doesn't need to be heavily moderated to work, it's just about the OP stating the rules of engagement in the thread in the first post, and local rule of no off topic posts that doesn't include the finalization of a sidebet by the two users. If that's been done any other post would only need to be reported and most likely will get deleted by the admins based on the local rules, it might take while to make the thread a perfect one, but I think it would work out well, just like the collectibles section.

And about the thread getting lost in middle of all threads overtime, it's easier to bookmark or enable following for just one thread. You'll also need to bookmark the spreadsheet or look for the post containing the link as well as time goes on.
