Sinner's qualifying for the semi finals will help me guarantee a draw against Harkorede. It is really very hard to predict what will happen in the remaining 2 Premier League questions. I'm expecting Arsenal to win by a bigger gap this week. However Manchester City aren't a team that I would ever like to take on under normal conditions. By the way I must admit that I have missed e-sports questions. Smiley

Lady luck might already be on your side because Jannik Sinner had to get a walkover over Andy Murray, a fixture that I'm sure would have stressed Sinner even if he were to make it through to the QFs, but I don't think I can complain much.

I'll only need to rely solely on Gael Monfils, whom of course have been doing absolutely great in this tournament, but Jannik Sinner will be obviously well rested and should be in a better shape than Monfils who had Vukic to contend with yesterday, although Monfils won in straight sets, 6-4 6-4, but an extra day of rest would surely be of advantage, I guess.

I'm surpised that everyone has shared their squad beforehand. Thank you guys for letting me copy from you. I hope that these squads being shared aren't a trap. After Kane's departure I started to think of adding one of Son/Richarlison into my squad. However I haven't still been able to make a decision completely.

Actually it's kind of making me think of staying clear of all Tottenham players for now, I don't know how this news would affect the teams spirit, so I'll just a wait for a couple of game weeks, Richarlison would be a very great addition, if he embraces the No. 9 position, and Maddison would have a bigger relevance in their games too, Veliz Alejo is just the only player I can't figure out yet, I really don't think Tottenham paid that much to have him has a back up plan, and I'm sure it was more about Harry Kane's potential departure that led to him being signed, but we'll see.

---------------------------------

I think I have finally set up my team, but despite several drafts in the last few days, it still pretty much took me about 6-8 hours to finalize and make my final decision, the only real giveaway is that I don't think I prioritize defense this time yet, but I made sure there is quite a bit of flexibility should I want to explore defense or better midfield alternatives.

Sigh! This was quite some headache to get through and over with!

Personal terms agreed, contract signed and medical booked.

Being a Chelsea and an high transfer fee, men! All that I can think of is Romelu Lukaku or is it another Wesley Fofana in the making ? high transfer fee and Chelsea are two that almost doesn't end well  Grin Tongue

Go enjoy your new campaign man, best of luck, I'm sure you're not going to underperform!

Ruud had a lot of problems with Davidovich Fokina than I expected and he lost the match in tiebreak set, that is breaking my whole game.
This gives better chances to Medvedev if he wins next two matches.

TBH, when Ruud had 5:3 in third set, I thought it was over, but he is not that big in head, obviously
and lost both sets in tie-break, really easily, almost without fight, losing his serve as a kid
hoped for a point there, but ain't gonna happen

I'm glad that Ruud had to be eliminated too, almost all the seeded players are gone in the blink of an eye, Davidovich Fokina literally deserved his victory against Ruud, he kept Casper Ruud on his toes for the entire 3 sets, and he also had the chances to have break a couple of Ruud's service in the first set, but having to do it in tie breaks in the 1st and 3rd sets showed how much effort was required of him to have won the match.

All I need now is for Jannik Sinner to also get eliminated before the semi final, so as to maintain the damage control for this round, because Sinner making the semi-final might be all that's needed for me to lose this round again  Lips sealed

I know Australia are a good team but I don't they can actually the match the strength of this french women, I mean check out their style of play alone let's you how dangerous they can be and not to talk of their goal scoring capabilities and I know Australia are partially the host nation but even that isn't going to do them any good.

Australia playing at home in the quarter finals against France isn’t really going to help them bag the win. France is the better team of the two and would go ahead to bag the victory. I too don’t see them matching the strength and capabilities of the French as France plays better football than Australia and is predicted to win.
I’m not trying to underestimate Australia cause we’ve seen countless times in football where the underdogs would go ahead to win against a superior opponent. In this case, France is in my opinion, the stronger team and it would take more than playing at home for Australia to win the game.

Should be a tough game for France indeed, going against the cohost in a knockout out phase, however Australia I don't see to be much of a huge threat in my opinion, and France would win this game anyways, I reckon.

France seemed to have found their team chemistry at the best time just before the end of the group stage, and they tend to be scoring goals at will now, and the same thing can be said of the Australian team, a team you'd expect to be of a tougher opponent that the French team last two opponent being Panama and Morocco, while Australia have face tougher, but France surely would be their toughest yet.

The bookies still have it on quite a close odds for both sides, ~3.50 for Australian and ~2.20 for France to win the game in regular time, I'd likely have my money on France, as the odds seem rather of decent value imo.

Sorry Liverpool fans- we are about to hijack your Southampton treasure.

Liverpool outbid Chelsea for Moises Caicedo

OK anyway, both news pieces are dubious at best so let's wait until we get some more info that confirms things.

It's like the opening game has already started and yet it's 48 hours away.

Nope Liverpool is broke , they cant outbid Chelsea. who still read from telegraph news page in 2023. Lol

David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano already confirmed Chelsea bid for Lavia. If any of these individuals tells you that your wife is in Turkey with a white guy and not in London for a business trip, you should be concerned. Contact your lawyer for divorce papers.

Aren't you both actually talking about two completely different players ?

Brighton's Moises Caicedo, and Southampton's Romeo Lavia, or is there something I'm not getting right here?

+ Martinelli isn't staring. what are you saving your money for?

No way Pep is playing Akanji and Gvardiol together this weekend.

I have a feeling this will be a good midfield throughout the season, Akanji + Gvardiol I have high hopes for too, and I'm not a week-by-week player in this fantasy game so I just want a solid all round team that can do it's job and get points.

How sure are you about Martinelli not starting?

I don't know about Gvardiol, he's surely meant to get regular minutes from Guardiola, but being a just concluded deal of few days ago he might not get his debut tomorrow.

Martinelli is definitely a starter for that left flank and he's locked in there for Arsenal IMHO, except he picked up knock from the shield or he's out injured, Trossard and Harvertz will be the ones sharing minutes more often for the center forward role in absence of Gabriel Jesus or whenever Arteta decide to play Declan Rice further up in Midfield and have Partey as CDM. If I'm tripling up on Arsenal, you best believe I'm going with Gabriel, Saka and Martinelli for sure.

This is interesting! I guess you haven't seen us play this season. Quote me and seal the deal.

I guess there is some information else that you must be seeing that we all aren't seeing  Grin, you seem super confident on Chelsea doing well this season, I think finishing top four should be an easy reach for Chelsea, because they'll have more than enough time on their hands to worry about just the league rather than other any other significant competitions.

Well done Rublev, thanks for a great performance today Roll Eyes

Stefanos Tstupidpass performed way better than Rublev  and who could have even saw that one coming too...

Now I have just 2/4 left, and the remaining ones are mutual answer with my opponent, I need Jannik Sinner to commit another sin as usual, and then Ruud also not making it to the semis, if not, I'm a toast already for this round  Sad, Now with the number of top seeds that have been eliminated already, it sure thus increase their chances of going further doesn't it? Angry

And Zverev was latest seeded player victim in the Canada ATP1000 Masters, losing 6-1, 6-2 and the match barely lasted for just an hour, I think this is probably  the most awkward and unpredictable ATP tournament I've seen in a while, more than 3/4 of the 16 seeded players have been eliminated already, I just don't know what else to make of this continuous dramas.
1109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League ⚽ Pool Prize Fund (0.1 btc) on: August 09, 2023, 07:21:42 PM
For those new around here don't get spooked by the stuff in first sentence, you will know the lingo inside first few weeks.

Yeah, you get to feel like Johan Cruyff for the few first game through to third one, but then after, the free transfers limitation and trying to change from a type of formation have you feeling like Frank Lampard coaching Chelsea or David Moyes at Manchester United.

I'm still quite far from reaching a conclusive idea about how I want to set up my team, just a question for everyone am I the only one who feels like my team almost extremely perfect as I would have wanted but there always this either 0.5m or 1m budget restriction that gets me to almost overhaul a whole of lot things from my draft, or make an extra sacrifice to get a low budget and literally unneeded player even for the bench, so I can fit in just an alternative player in the end?

Betting markets will be constantly updated it depends on the total bet on one of the clubs, currently the odds for Porto 2.82 meaning in the last few hours more betting on Porto, maybe because Goncalo Ramos moved so some gamblers doubted Benfica. It is rather difficult to determine who will win, while I'm more interested in both teams to score it doesn't matter who wins, it is clear that both teams must score each other.

By the way @cryptofrka @Trofo I can't find my username in the spreadsheets Round 8 I have filled out the form, is there something wrong?

Yeah, I just wanted to say that the odds are practically the same for all outcomes.  I guess that it will be an interesting game to watch. To bad I'm on vacation so I have only Croatian national TV to watch.

I don't think I'll be seeing the match anyways, I'm locked in on Tennis for the whole tonight, there are some pretty great fixtures, that I wouldn't want to miss for anything tonight, more so, me and my opponent have the same answers, so there is no extra incentive to watch it for me, do you mind streaming the game ? I could help you with a couple of streaming links that's should surely have the game on coverage.

_________

I'm currently tunned in on Medvedev vs Arnaldi live, after finishing with the rollercoaster entertaining match between Fritz and Humbert.

I hope I can read a nice writing about my win when he mentions our match in the article next week. As of the beginning of leagues we are entering a football-weighted period slowly. I assume that this can also upset the balances in the standings like the patch change on DOTA.

I might have fumbled the bag for this round yet again, after a low scoring game from PSV against Feyenoord, I expected some 2 Nil-ish win from them today, and some 1-2 goals score line from Braga, hence my reason choosing the 3-4 goals, and also I submitted my picks already before I learnt of the Nkunku long term injury, I had Chelsea to win against Liverpool too, and he sure was one of my reasons for backing the blues on this one, I might just opted for a draw, but meh... It is what it is!

I have captured the advantage by the first question. However we still have 3 questions which can change the result.

To make things even get uglier for me, Andrey Rublev ousted by McDonalds in straight sets, we are even barely midway into the tournament, ffs. Smh, I didn't want to so cliché going for the top 4 seeds, at least I know two of the top seeds are very inconsistent imo and I decided to take matters into my own by looking for good players with easy route to the 3rd round at the very least, and that has decided not to pan out well for me either  Undecided

I think clubs should start getting sanctioned too for their fans behaviour, I mean as huge supporter travelling overseas to watch team play such an important game, but in the chose violence, once Uefa can verify that these are indeed registered club fans, their clubs really should get sanctioned, perhaps by an instant disqualification from the tournament, along side legal punishment for such individual, I know it might seem quite too much a consequence for clubs that obviously aren't in support of these antics but it will serve as wake up clubs too to perform extra due diligence on their supporters.

Even a life of one person must be above every trophy. About this topic clubs need to take every kind of precautions. However I think it won't be very fair to punish clubs in this way. For example Fenerbahçe are going to play against Maribor in Slovenia on August 17. How can a sports club can prevent a fight that I'm involved in there in that country?

It is going to be a case by case scenario, and they wouldn't be punish just for every fan that decides to constitute a nuisance because there is obviously no way each and every fan can be kept in check, but there are certain fans who have exhibited such a violent history previously and are often being sanctioned by the clubs, but the club should be held responsible too, if such fans are allowed to go see matches that are often bound to result into hostile situations over extreme fanatism in some sensitive locations or countries.

Clubs do get sanctioned by Uefa for behaviour of their fans, but only under certain circumstances. For example, if Dinamo Zagreb sold tickets for away game in Athens and their fans made chaos at the game, they would have serious issues and maybe even kicked out of Europe for a year. But, in this case away fans were not allowed so Dinamo couldn't sell tickets and they certainly couldn't prevent anyone from travelling to Athens therefore they shouldn't be punished. And they won't.

The ones who are responsible for this are first and foremost Dinamo Zagreb and Panathinaikos (who gave them logistic support and are their buddies) fans and then Greek police who had all the info that 100+ football hooligans are en route to Athens to cause chaos yet they failed to act.

Thanks for shedding more light into this, because I'm sure when club started getting extreme consequences from these acts, they'll pay more attention into the type of fans they allow into certain locations and environments, it's pretty sad when these unwarranted antics end up costing damage of infrastructures and unfortunately loss of lives.

By the way did the Superbru invitation link started to be sent? Because I haven't got it yet.  Huh

I'm yet to get the link as well.

I'm sure it's being sent out already, but hilariousandco takes a while before he get to send the link to users who pays a bit further after he's sent it out, I guess he just wait to send them out just at once.

It was @jeremypwr who helped with the link to get in last season, I'm sure users that are already in can help us with the via pm, and that shouldn't be problem, If not we just unfortunately might have to wait, anyways just input your predictions, they'll get carried over once you join the pool.

What a piece of shit you have to be to stab a suporter from another team. Worst a team from another country so you dont have so much controversy with them or you dont see too often. I cant really believe. You can maybe fight for a flag/banner launch some hands (its bad, but you know what im talking about) but STAB!!! man you need to be on jail a long time.
Once more, I say idiots.

What could be better than than drinking with opposing supporters and throwing football jabs all the time against each other? Unfortunately there is always somebody who takes that a bit too seriously. Main reason I am only watching my hometown club (Rijeka) play live when it is not against Dinamo/Hajduk. Don't want that extra friction and drama. I like to come to game without too many traffic jams and drink a beer in piece, preferably siting whole game.

I know, i am not a "real supporter", i am what you could call casual supporter. The game must be just right and weather perfect for me to get on stadium  Grin

I'm the simplest betting person you'll ever meet - underdogs all the way, but for BSFL I take a more "educated" approach, like picking Arsenal double chance for PK and Haaland not scoring/assisting is actually not as terrible an option as we imagine. Community Shield is not taken seriously by City and they start seasons poorly. That said Harko lost by luck -- 3 extra minutes injury time owed to time-wasting got me the goal that won the tie.

@Trofo solid article as always -- you did get the wrong PK winner there though Wink Poor Harko heh heh.

Yes, crazy final minutes damn for real, I didn't feel much undone though, because I didn't watch the game, that might have me livid asf!

As for Trofo, I presume he's just gotten used to having me as a winner  Wink

The Gabriel Jesus and Nkunku enthusiast that such a bummer right, especially given their very fair price for what they'd have had to offer... Damn, I guess it's back to Watson O' clock because Nicholas Jackson would really need some on the same rhythm with him like Nkunku in order to be fully explosive, I don't think I was going to buy into all the pre-season hype by the way.
