Goxing? I don't know.. But this looks like someone found bug and make use of it. This is affecting only socket (socketio, don't know how's websocket) data.
any news from mtgox ?

what are you guys saying?

someone could be making the bid walls appear on the live chart without actually placing an order?  by some how injecting the api with extra data?

I've reported that. But they are close now and will read about this issue at 10am (now it's 5:13 JST...).
Anyway I'm adding right now extra refresh from http api every minute. This should help a lot with current problem.

if you refresh it goes away?

What size was this wall at 4.9, arepo?

wish i had screen capped. maybe that would help me 'get over myself'. i'm just trying to have a pleasant conversation here...

i'd estimate about 20k. it was sloped too, orders placed at even intervals, all with sizes powers of 2. so what exactly is going on here?

someone playing with the order books, to make it look bullish

this is unheard of ... Wink

Great poll with a wide variety of options. I actually found two acceptable options for my thinking but the other one was simply spot on. The one I chose was "5$ is a physiological barrier that will inevitably be broken". Although I think that it's meant as psychological, not physiological. Right? Smiley

ops spell checked to fast...  Tongue

"I hope she doesn't buy moldy (in the bad way) cheese again. Shouldn't be as much a problem with Fontina... How the fuck does a major retailer sell moldy cheese, anyway? Wanna talk about irrational markets..... I feel relieved. Wanna turn on TV, but there's never anything on and I don't want to have to search for wherever Meris put the mouse. Not really much point in turning it off. Can of air, fan has hair, ... not that anyone gives a care, gonna poke that derriere. Damn, hope they don't think I'm gay for writing that. I disappoint myself. *static*"

18449  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: March 05, 2012, 07:01:11 PM
It proves that Bitcoin can actually take a shitstorm or two and be more than fine afterwards.
Proves how much denial there can be despite worse news than TH+Paxum combined.

Kind of reminds me of the time Gox got hacked.

are you afraid your bits are going to be worth less because a security hole at bitcoinia has been exposed & exploited?

watch someone reaction as you tell them, a major site was hacked... it lost over 200,000$, It will cover all the losses, so that no one will be effected.

Bitcoin is Strong!

I have never seen 1 thing that makes bitcoin itself look week.
18450  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's called a correction (waveaddict's bitcoin charting subscription thread) on: March 05, 2012, 06:25:51 PM
Im in a stupid short position... jesus..

I entered a small short position yesterday after profitably exiting my long.  I ended up getting out of it and lost 4 of the 12 dollars I profited from the previous long.  I'm trying to decide now if I want to take up a small long position again.

you should wait for a nice dip below 4.8 4.9 5 and then go long

lol, i glad i held my long ... now i wait for 8!  Cheesy

18452  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Bitcoin press hits, notable sources on: March 04, 2012, 06:33:40 AM
When the first issue of Bitcoin Magazine gets published, is this thread going to start filling up quickly with every article we have?  Cheesy

Will it be considered a "notable source" ?   Tongue
Yeah, how reliable is it lol

Nope. Everyone's beginning to realize that the Bitcoin Protocol remains secure. Can you imagine what society would be like if we freaked out any time a pick-pocket was successful and decided cash was a bad idea?

That is some pickpocket that stole 0.59% of all bitcoins produced so far.  If bitcoin was a billion dollar economy that heist would have been almost $6 million.
Yeah, this is more like a burglar getting the master keys to a mall (Linode) and making off with the money in all the stores... and one of those stores just happened to be a bank.

And that bank is Goldman Sachs
and now, the thief will stimulate the economy - it will have to "launder money" to buy products using the B  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I'd give it a few months at this point. People need some time to refill their confidence reservoirs.

agreed 8$ is far off... but not that far off

the short term looks good too... if you waiting for the weekend dip, DON'T!

I wonder what waveaddict is telling his subscribers Roll Eyes

I also wish I had seen the bad news and sold at $4.90 instead of $4.60 -- only to see it go back up to $4.75. Ah well, win some lose some.
I did just the opposite. Sold heaps at 4.90, then bought back heaps at 4.60. By luck though, since I don't daytrade. Tongue

how do you accidentally buy and sell coins  Huh
