Actually, now that I'm correctly medicated, "Bitcoins in Space" does seem like a great idea... What a fantastic incentive to get people to finally leave this rock and venture out, heh, yeah it'll be just like the wild west all over again!  Maybe like a real life Firefly (and/or its finale movie, "Serenity"), Cowboy Bebop or Outlaw Star.  This is awesome exciting!

I wish I could change my vote.  I originally voted Netherlands, but I would like to officially change it to Bitcoins in Space.

And even though I'm pretty sure "myself" has like thousands more BTC than I do, I'm going to go ahead and donate him 0.25 BTC for that idea because it's been a really rare day for me and I feel like being an idiot right now.

 Cheesy

how far will 0.25BTC get you?
1.2 light years Wink

Depends on the meaning of "reject". Also, I feel like it should be a multiple choice option.

Weren't there some dudes who were going to build a libertarian island off the coast of San Francisco? What ever came of that?
just getting data...

looks like Russia is winning.

pit pay should go pay a visit to Russia with a hot girl from Montreal

Canada just plain rocks

Being so tactical about it is kind of weird... I would just drop by.

+1 "just dropping by" might be a good way to get to know the owner of a small biz.

maybe a quick phone call "hi,  I'd like to talk to the owner about ______, when is it a good time to drop by? say 3:00 after the rush?" Cheesy

bring the laptop and try and convince him to let you pay for your meal in bitcoin ... give him 100% more bits then its worth if he agrees to let you set him up with bitcoin

do a little bit of marketing (go write a review on www.thebitcoinreview.com  Wink )

go back and fill a large order so you can live off there AMAZING FOOD for the weekend  Wink

go back the next week and talk to the owners again. order a coffee to go!

give your friends and family bitcoin so they can go spend them there.... (just pay for... your sisters b-day party  Huh mothers day! Grin )

profit  Huh

did anyone loss...

yup that's major profits alright. Grin

I believe this is called a "bull trap."

I hope you meant "bear trap," because bull traps don't go down.....

I'm calling it a bull trap because as soon as the price gets high enough it will be zapped with a 6-10k sell off.  Bull. trap.

that was last weeks game
18515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The First Chicago Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin on: February 16, 2012, 09:01:55 PM
Sniffing the network for a double spend doesnt seem that hard to code, so hopefully you guys get that implemented soon, because it is absolutely ridiculous for us to be saying "hey mr restaurant owner how would you like to accept this new paymemt method?  Just make sure that customers overpay for their meal an hour beforehand so you dont get scammed, and then give them change."

every here of a dine and dash ... its much easier to pull off  Wink

18516  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling the Bottom on: February 16, 2012, 08:17:40 PM
It waits for you guys with baseball bat.

huh?

lol..we all know Blitzboom is one of the major remaining bulls around here..  Grin
That’s why I’m right.

Also, I switched my stance several times. I was actually short BTC twice, but you people have overdone it.

Too much volume, too many consecutive down days, too many sells, too much panic.

This will have consequences. At least short term.

long term consequences too. people are going to get screwed hardcore... that's what my crystal ball tells anyway

1$ here we come !   Wink
18518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The First Montréal Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin on: February 16, 2012, 07:04:05 PM
The thing with these early adopters is we shouldn't try and convince them to adopt Bitcoin because of what it does but why they should care about Bitcoin in general. The early adopter probably will not see an immediate benefit to offering this payment option, hell it might even be an extra cost they absolutely can't afford right now.. But they might want to adopt it because they believe in the reasons for why one should use Bitcoin and maybe in time, with enough early adopters they'll start seeing some benefits of extra customers ect..

So I guess what I'm trying to get a cross is don't focus on the financial benefit for these early adopter businesses but rather on the value of innovating their business to themselves with a potential of a benefit far off in the future..

i agree with you,

but i think restaurants will see a huge benefit for taking bitcoins...

look : http://en.restoboom.com/intro?redirectUrl=home.action%26ref%3Drestomtl-top&useDefaultCategory=true#

many business are willing to give 50% off simply for buying their product or service online using Groupon.

I'm sure their is some hassle involved with working with Groupon. it might actually be more of a hassle then dealing with pit-pay.
18519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The First Chicago Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin on: February 16, 2012, 06:06:06 AM
Please start a thread for Montreal. I pledge to go eating if a restaurant accept bitcoins.
For me the 2 best selling points to a restaurant are:
New clients: bitcoiners paying with bitcoins
Free publicity: local media will be interested about a restaurant accepting a new currency.

Nice going, dunand! I had a nice little venture going here until you came along and forked my customer base. First Montreal, then San Diego. What city's next? Biloxi? Little Rock? Or perhaps smaller towns like Hohenwald, TN, Intercourse, PA, or Winchestertonfieldville?

Seriously, folks, I'm glad to see some traction here, and I'm sure Tony with Bit-Pay will do everything possible to help out in each market. I'm glad to be part of introducing Chicagoans to Bitcoin. But, I do have an edge over all the other markets--a secret weapon.

~Bruno~

we are not in competition, please share your secret weapon with us.
