Hey. A couple of suggestions from one web designer to another...

* Remove the extra whitespace above the page container. This will reduce the need to scroll to get to important information.
* The site has rendering issues for me on Firefox on Linux Mint where it looks like some items flow out of where they should be. http://imgur.com/lCnvj
* I noticed this for the page for CoinDL. Since the logo is creatd with transparency it comes out looking a little funny on the site. Granted I should probably render it with a white background but since you have to deal with many logos and want them all to look their best, you should make that area have a white background since it's the sensible default.
* Again a personal preference but I would move the icons for maps, charts, etc on the right a bit down so they don't overlap the boundary between blue and white areas. Labeling them with the little words 'Map' and 'Charts' for example would help people understand without having to rollover the links.
* How do you choose the items visible in the Bitcoin Business Directory when there must be tons of others? If it's an open process, I would like to have CoinDL show up in the Online Products section.

Hey thanks a lot for the suggestions!

-I think i fixed the display errors. i can't be sure because i can't reproduce the problem on my end.
-There isn't enough space to add small labels on the icons, but i added tool tips instead
-I like the transparent logos. if you want to change your logo to have a white background PM me the new logo
-The Bitcoin Business Directory displays the top 5 sites in each category (highest rating with most number of reviews)

I noticed visitors from thebitcoinreview spend more time on the site so that's a good thing...best of luck with the site!
Very cool!  Cheesy

Thanks again

Don't forget the Gox's checkout thing they've been promoting...

Things aren't looking good. Even the stars are really badly aligned with Aries shagging Pisces and Jupiter at apposition. How do I do one of them "10:1 leveraged shorts" on Bitcoinica? I've got a hunch Wink Wink

You should never trust hunches. The effect may just as well be the direct opposite.

that's true for all our indicators too  Wink

but an educated guess is better then a flat out guess

18026  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why do people think mining is less risky than buying, anyway? on: April 25, 2012, 07:36:19 PM
Actually, it's not given that whatever pool you mine on is going to know at least something about you. I mined for a long time on P2Pool thinking I was anonymous till I realized anyone could see what address I was mining to and given that the IPs that are doing the mining can be seen on the network you can kind of figured out a general idea of who is mining what.

If you really truly wanted to be 100% anonymous you'd have to solo mine on TOR, right?
Or p2pool mine on TOR with rotating deposit addresses. That's not such a crazy thing, though, if you're willing to eat a high stale rate.

can't you just let the funds sit on mtgox and they will be mixed with other coins?
18027  Economy / Speculation / Re: latest rally started with Diablo3 open beta opening on: April 25, 2012, 06:40:56 PM
See, it’s difficult enough to establish a new community. Now when you try it with an unestablished currency, unfortunately it can be doubly as hard.

I think ogrr is a great idea and gamers might indeed embrace it for the ability to trade with a currency they can actually cash out and that cannot be frozen, but the reaction or expectations I’ve seen towards it from Bitcoiners are completely ridiculous, especially with regards to its growth.

I remember the days of when Silk Road was small in February to April, and back then they published the user and sales data. Gawker boosted them in May, and ever since then they are huge.

It’s going to take a long time.

I for one can't wait to play and trade Smiley

I think we have a reasonably good change at getting gamers to trade with bitcoin, but like you said its not like the entire diablo community will start using bitcoins over night.... but bitcoin is really cool and easy to trade with (especially if you dont have to go to an exchange to get them), i would imagine many gamers will embrace bitcoin simply because they like the idea. lets not forget if you go in a game and you say bitcoin theirs a good chance no one knows wtf your talking about.
18028  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Withdraw USD from mtgox on: April 25, 2012, 06:25:05 PM
you can convert your Bit coins into PayPal USD if you want, about 12hours and a 2.5% fee
What do you mean? Perhaps, there are instructions how to do this?

I'm sure if Bitcoin can be easily converted into cash instantly, this would cause bitcoins to be worth alot more than the price is set in todays market. just saying...

I agree, its would be a huge + for bitcoin
18033  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Withdraw USD from mtgox on: April 24, 2012, 11:10:55 PM
... when any instant way for fiat out will appear - exchange rate could drop significantly.

so the only reason you still hold bitcoins is because you dont want to wait for a bank transfer,  and the day this becomes instant you will cash out all your bitcoins?

Don't forget that if you're only buying Bitcoins, you're relying on others to back the network. The security of bitcoin is in the power required to 51% the chain -- if I buy $1000 dollars of equipment and mine with it, I'm making bitcoin $1000 more secure (ish).

good point

Welcome to the Bitcoin Forum where denial is merely a river in Egypt  Grin

haters keep hating ;-)

A trend line is a bounding line for the price movement of a security. A support trend line is formed when a securities price decreases and then rebounds at a pivot point that aligns with at least two previous support pivot points. Similarly a resistance trend line is formed when a securities price increases and then rebounds at a pivot point that aligns with at least two previous resistance pivot points.

u mad?

aww another bull.. Smiley bears FTW!!

700,000 new locations selling a maximum total of 21,000,000 = 30 coins per store being ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM amount that could be sold ever.

The demand is going to outweigh the supply... and fast.

+1 bitcent

I'll agree this will drastically improve the ability of the demand to be met, but your math only holds if everyone who buys them holds them instead of spending them or selling them.

Will these 700,000 new location be taking your BTC and giving you cash, or only the other way around?

As I understand it, they will be selling you a USD-denominated bitinstant gift card that can be exchanged for BTC.  But, then again, details are sketchy at best.

Agreed, and I do see your point now about my math.  My biggest point, which you agreed with, is that this will make it much easier to buy BTC

Easy to buy, still hard to sell

Price go up

bitcoin has like 700,000 ways of "cashing out"

its about time theirs 700,000 ways of cashing in Cheesy
