2343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Beenz vs Bitcoin on: September 21, 2011, 01:20:14 AM
i got one of these as a starting point:

couldn't afford a monitor and at the time my parents only had a small black & white tv to use it with.

i was a bit late to the internet compared to my friends because i had to get dragged kicking and screaming away from my favourite bbs's.
2344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Instawallet Problems. on: September 21, 2011, 01:11:09 AM
I think you should change your thread title from "Instawallet Problems"  to "My computer problems".

No need to create false alarm with a sensationalist title.

Good luck with the issue!

Everyone always tell me to change my tittle. I guess my english sucks. Thanks for the good luck but I think the btc are gone.  Cry

do you know the exact balance? have you contact them?
2345  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitriches? wtf? 16 days? 10 BTC on: September 21, 2011, 01:05:52 AM

Come one Bitriches papa needs a new pair of GPU's!!!

seriously tho... 16 days? wtf?

http://www.bitriches.com/

anyone viewed the source?

for a site with just one page and a countdown timer, it sure does have a lot of 5H1T included in the code.
2346  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Bitcoin press hits, notable sources on: September 21, 2011, 12:08:50 AM
Just recieved: makeuseof has published a bitcoin manual http://www.makeuseof.com/pages/download-virtual-currency-the-bitcoin-manual

I've don yet read it so don't know the contents

Just started reading it.  Looks really good so far.  I mean, really good.

yeah it is good, although i'd never heard of makeuseof.... where's ehow or howstuffworks.com ? Cheesy  ...i'll email them.

edit: contacted howstuffworks.com but it seems ehow has no suggestions box and it's comment system is 'facebook only'.
2347  Economy / Services / Re: 9,000 MH/s rental on: September 20, 2011, 11:06:48 PM
almost 8 btc back already by the way.

at the rate i'm seeing so far my best calculated guess right now for the contract is 36.89 btc... we'll see at the end how accurate that guess turns out to be Cheesy

well, i ended up with just under 35 btc for the week. (around 9% ROI)

annualized ROI = 9700% p.a.   (put in $1 and get $98 a year later)
2348  Economy / Services / Re: Shades Minoco - A different type of mining company on: September 20, 2011, 10:42:41 AM
So-Cal power out caused a breif disturbance in our output, but systems are starting to return online now. Made a few upgrades such as the creation of a 3 board, 18 card monster called Magi (First to figure out the refence and post correct answer gets 1btc).

3 kings = 3 boards?

how many ghs is that monster getting?
2349  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a possibly large loan to cover expansion on: September 20, 2011, 10:26:01 AM

2350  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction stuck for 11 days...and counting on: September 20, 2011, 10:14:39 AM
Did the coins show up at Gox?

=> No, the coins do not show up at Mt.Gox

What block number do you have on the lower right of your client?

=> The client shows 141674 blocks.

that's really low, compared to the current block: http://blockexplorer.com
2351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MTGox unfair business practice. on: September 20, 2011, 09:56:53 AM
He fixed the problem and he is a good guy. System is automated for phising. Everything is aok!

where did you end up communicating with him? email? irc?

i got an email today saying 'account under review' because i hadn't sent ID yet, but i was always keeping under their withdrawal limits.

so apparently you need to send ID eventually anyway even if you stay under the limits.

sent the docs electronically, hopefully i don't need to snail mail japan.
2352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help cheaper in bitcoins get some capital on: September 20, 2011, 06:11:09 AM
you say: A Bitcoin is a digital currency

i'd say:

Bitcoin is a digital currency

OR

A Bitcoin is a unit of digital currency

...plus:

Its as easy as sending an email but just as safe as any modern day Bank.
It's as easy as sending an email but just as safe as any modern-day bank.

by the way, you might want to do a new updated paste after you've made some of these changes, so that we aren't doubling up on each other's corrections.
2353  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Rising on: September 20, 2011, 06:02:05 AM
Isn't this about the most obvious trolling attempt you've ever seen? Skyrocketing 5 cents? Are you serious?

maybe he zoomed in too far on mtgoxlive and can't escape.
2354  Economy / Speculation / Re: 9/20/11 Speculation Thread on: September 20, 2011, 05:58:32 AM
i agree it could get that high today, but back to $5 or less later in the week.
2355  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Posters on: September 19, 2011, 11:36:07 PM
looks great... what kind of stock are you printing this on?
2356  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Serial numbers on: September 19, 2011, 11:01:02 AM
Information exist, so bitcoins ARE real.

i think of them like a bucket of water, and a bitcoin is a 'drop' of water, the bucket full of water is 21 million drops.

but when they're all in the bucket together, the 'drops' don't exist.
2357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am questioning whether if we should be calling Bitcoins by their name... on: September 19, 2011, 10:54:11 AM
License plates as the new physical currency FTW.

well ultimately the whole point about the license plates isn't how much the plate cost, it's how expensive the car is that it's placed on.

you could buy a 'bitcoin' plate for $50 and put it on your new Lambo and it'd still have the effect of associating the word 'bitcoin' with high wealth.
2358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am questioning whether if we should be calling Bitcoins by their name... on: September 19, 2011, 09:55:02 AM
i think 'bitcoin' is like 'google' in that it'll seem very valuable once people are more used to seeing valuable things associated with it.

imagine a very expensive car with personalized license plate that simply says [B-I-T-C-O-I-N]

(i priced one in Queensland, Australia and it's about $7000 at the moment - more than my old car is even worth)

anyway once that kind of thing becomes more prevalent, the word will gradually become more associated with high wealth.

Lol, wut? A licence plate costs 7k?

a personlised 7-character QLD plate does yes.

the standard plate here is 3 letters, 3 numbers, so the 7-character "choose your own combination" plates are limited offer and premium-priced.

www.ppq.com.au

by the way, if you care to look through 2nd-hand sales of premium license plates, some crazy rare ones like "A" can go for $100k+

That is crazy. I think they are $50-$100 here, but you can't reuse them, at least not give to another person.

well yeah here they are pretty much like domain names... squatters and all.

and people buy and sell them all the time without even putting them on their cars.

check out this list of 'mediocre' ones for sale: http://www.aussieplates.com/listqld.html

2359  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Proposal: make it so anybody could easily compile the client on: September 19, 2011, 08:25:36 AM
Its easy to compile on linux. Its easy to install the binary on windows (and possible to compile if you know what you are doing, though I havent tried). Really, thats all thats needed IMO. If you are wary of using closed source software, you shouldnt be running windows.

what if you want to make a small modification before compiling?

in that case trusting closed source windows software has nothing to do with it.
2360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are You buying with bitcoins? on: September 19, 2011, 08:23:11 AM
