Howcome there is no proof of stake?

This coin/platform is more than a Bittrex PnD special? Excellent long term design.
1663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: August 08, 2014, 07:50:35 PM
This is my favorite coin/platform right now. The IPO ends, people are paid, and instead of the project folding up like most, top talent is hired and it just gets better!?

Setting new standards here. Very impressed.
1664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SDC] ShadowCoin | ShadowChat [EM] | ShadowSend [Anon] | ShadowGo [Mobile] on: August 08, 2014, 05:07:18 AM
First CINNI, now SDC.

Looks like someone is cashing out (again). So where are you off to next after you're done with this coin, rynomster?

Do you understand the meaning of a contract job? It means when you're finished with the work you've been contracted to do, you're free to leave.

Ryno was never the lead dev of CINNI. If you want to throw rocks at someone throw - them at the founder of CINNI.

Read the CINNI thread and ask rynomster yourself (assuming he's not a liar). He promised EM and EM-based anonymous transactions to CINNI but disappeared for the 2nd part, blaming "family issues." Don't take my word for it - see the thread and ask rynomster yourself (assuming he isn't lying, in which case look for ambiguous weasel words or over-the-top claims of innocense). He screwed CINNI (along with battbot, who abandoned around the same time, probably realising what was going on). It's fully documented on the CINNI thread.

Check it out, the only person who screwed you was you, the minute you invested in a coin that had an incompetent lead developer. Shadowcoin is Rynomster's project - he doesn't need to outsource anything to anyone. Next time you think about investing in a coin see if the founder is technical because ultimately, you're investing in technology.

I totally agree with that -- one of the things many have learned from the experience -- except to say that it wasn't clear the lead dev wasn't a real dev until later, and a dev can abandon a coin whether he's a hired gun or the lead dev/OP-writer. Doesn't really make a difference, does it?

What matters to me is knowing who the devs are so we understand the risks and benefits, and their history. CINNI was launched by an original dev, and the coin had to be saved by Rat4 as it had problems... It was sloppy at first. So I assume that dev had to hire people for anything advanced, as he needed help just getting the wallets to work right. So whatever worked out or didn't work out with an inexperienced lead dev - that is how those things go.

Personally, I like the Stealth Address concept by Peter Todd, and I like knowing who this dev is - that he is not the ORIGINAL CINNI dev.

So I am willing to buy a little and see how it plays out.
1665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite | 1st mini-blockchain coin | M7 PoW | No Premine on: August 05, 2014, 05:30:04 AM
It is possible that first guy might well not be the developers, but how does anyone tell the difference? You have never answered that question and you continue to ignore that avoiding conflicts of interest in a non-transparent trust-free environment includes avoiding, structurally, the possibility or appearance of same.
Obviously there is no easy way to prove it's not us, but if you've been following development of the GPU miner on IRC and other threads here, it's pretty damn obvious we don't have one. I bought the majority of my coins on Bter in fact. And lets just assume that's not true, in reality it doesn't matter much at all because we're only a week into mining and it takes 10 years for half of all coins to be mined. Only a very small fraction of all coins have been mined so far, and the GPU miner should be ready very soon. There is more than enough time for more people to start mining and offset this one large miner.

Quote
Seriously, what were you thinking? You have all these great ideas for mini-blockchain, scalability, microtransactions, etc., and then you mess it up by trying to play PoW cryptographer, for part of the coin that adds no real value over 100 other PoW algorithms. Why?
There were several good reasons actually. We started off by looking at existing PoW algorithms and we thought about using a PoS hybrid or a memory hard algorithm but ultimately decided to just stick with the multi-hash approach used by Quark and similar coins because we felt that was more in line with the original ideals of Bitcoin and it was much easier to implement with the limited time we had. However we didn't feel like the existing multi-hash PoW algorithms were great, they used unknown and even obsolete hashing functions just so they could claim to use a greater number of hashing functions. We wanted something which placed emphasis on quality of hash functions and not quantity, and something that could not instantly be adapted to GPU miners so that average desktop users had a chance to mine the coin before the big GPU miners began to dominate everything.

I appreciate quality coins myself. Best of luck. Smiley

Only around 3.3 Million coins in circulation. This actually has some innovation for a change, very interesting.
1667  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRKC] DarkCash Reboot | PoS | Anonymity in development on: August 02, 2014, 06:50:42 PM
Any news on the Masternodes?

Just to make it clear, Darkcoin's Masternodes are not open source yet, so they can't be implemented yet. But we want to put anon in ASAP. Ideally we could get something going like XC where they had nodes that required a certain number of coins and payed the people running them. It all depends on how fast we can get a new programmer. That's what we're working hard on right now. If you have any programmers you know who could work on this project let us know.

I am friends with one of the XC guys, I think he was going to contact you about helping with a wallet or something. XC is very solid anon tech, even in the earlier versions. We also talked about it, and that is good status for XC Devs to be helping out coins, sort of like Rat4 of Blackcoin helping POS coins in the past. (Gives them more status as a gold standard - and of course Darkcash has a great brand and such)
1668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BANKSYCOIN TO BECOME WORLDS FIRST ART BACKED CRYPTOCURRENCY on: August 02, 2014, 08:27:43 AM
This will only appeal to a very limited niche market.

Oddly, I am an art dealer and a cryptocurrency trader/reviewer. Sort of love the idea, if it is legit. The one celebrity name you can steal, and he won't care!
1669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRKC] DarkCash Reboot | PoS | Anonymity in development on: August 01, 2014, 08:04:37 PM
darkcash.net is not showing up when i try to surf to it.

1- this coin needs a dedicated dev or team of devs long term

2- official home page

3- official forum

I can make a webpage and/or forum for darkcash, but if you are going to do that, then do it, and stop procrastinating.

Just Do It.

The website is currently being designed already.

Little screenshot:

Looks really sharp to me. Certainly better than most Altcoin websites.

Here is a link for my little cryptoclub, the people there seem pretty positive on Darkcash now that it has a chance. Feel free to join and update/advertise about Darkcash if you like. Around 2700 people involved in cryptos there. (I made a post about it)

"For one of the safer bets on Bittrex, check out Darkcash! Yes, you heard me! Just another Anon coin dropped by the dev, but with one of the best names in a long time. As the loser scam dev is out of the picture, now some quality people are filling in the gap! Nice new logo they came up with. The coin is already on tons of exchanges, including in China, has a super low unit count, POS, and rock bottom priced. Why pay for a new anon scam coin, when you can get the next Vootcoin cheap now, that actually has a decent chance at some returns? (and a great brand name) 10x or so returns if it works out, potentially, but nothing is a sure thing.
The new logo is 1000x better, so, off to a good start. High Risk? Meh, not at this price. Moderate risk. I am back in. It would also be kind of fun to make this into a winner without the bastard that started it"
1671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRKC] DarkCash Reboot | PoS | Anonymity in development on: August 01, 2014, 09:52:24 AM
I will help out a little bit, at least mention this coin to some people. (I am not a bag holder)

Mostly, it has a great name, and since EVERY FAKE ANON COIN is a scam anyway, this one has more potential than those.

It would be sort of fun to make it into some kind of success without the the original dev. Wink
1672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 31, 2014, 01:14:40 AM
Mintpal is getting taken over by Moohpay, so the scammers should lose some volume then, as their exchange will as well. (There were a lot less PnD scams going on when most of the volume was at Mintpal - previous to the hack)

Right now it is mostly going into fake-anon coins being PnDed and listed without care. (Few that have a future beyond weeks)

Thanks, just got here like 48 hours ago. Smiley

Darkcoin had a lot of waves on the way up and lots of people sold way too early and regretted it. Looks like just a shakeout to me. I am holding. Best to be in all the coins with the most potential anyway. Smiley
1675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: July 30, 2014, 06:17:42 AM
This is a good day to have a little Cloak in my portfolio it seems. We have some new working tech?
1676  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: July 29, 2014, 09:51:14 PM
Why is it increasing today? Was there something released? Just trying to figure out the reason behind the move.

Decentralized market speculation play for me. I suggested it as a possibility for a few buddies yesterday as well.

(Although I am sure like normal, it is mostly some whales doing their thing...)
1677  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: July 28, 2014, 09:09:32 PM
Ok, Cloak has lasted long enough so I will give it a shot. Charts look strong. Mintpal is being taken over by Moolah, so Fiat exchange of Cloak will be easy...

Decentralized Marketplaces will be the next big thing, for sure, so it makes sense to own some Cloak. Anyway, I am in. Smiley

Darkcash reborn! (SCAM)
1679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DarkCash Takeover thread on: July 28, 2014, 01:28:52 AM
I dumped the coin at a loss myself as this rarely works out. Shame, as it had a good name and we would have hit 10k easy, by now, had he just checked in. Didn't show up until people found out his ID.

Whatever crapcoin he cloned is likely FUBAR, so you want to swap it out. Good luck!
1680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DarkCash Takeover thread on: July 28, 2014, 01:23:39 AM

The former dev of DarkCash has locked the OP thread, so I am creating this thread as a meeting place for DarkCash bagholders.

I like the logo and the name, and the concept of creating Masternodes as an economic incentive to boost the price of the coin. If there are any devs who are interested in forking the source code, please let us know. I'll be updating this thread if there are any replies or suggestions.

It would be fairly involved. Finding coders to save scam coins isn't easy. These scam devs have no skills either,  so when they are put on the spot as they were not even good enough to make themselves anonymous, when they tried, they are not the person for the job. Not that they could or would ever do it.
