2361  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: December 06, 2015, 03:58:30 AM
ZH is reporting that there are dozens of stock markets the world over that are down 10% + in 2015, with more than 20 down 20% +. WHile the US market hasnt set the world on fire, it is at least maintaining.

Armstrong sees the US market booming as EM's collapse the world over, but I am thinking that, in comparison, it already has, just that the difference comes from the decline of the EM's not a US rise.

I am not really uo to speed on the most recent financial events because of my trip, but while there may be a bump up (which might be a good one: 10% - 20% or more perhapa), these events almost always spread.

Warning is what we are getting from the ROW stock markets.......
2362  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin in India? Not for a LOOOOONG time. on: December 06, 2015, 03:38:25 AM
I am a regular visitor to India (especially to Delhi, and Kerala). Although there are not many shops which accept BTC in these regions, you can easily convert your BTC to fiat cash (INR), at low premiums. In Delhi itself, there are dozens, if not hundreds of traders who trade Bitcoins for fiat cash. Use Localbitcoins to get in touch with these guys.

Hi Bryant,

We were too busy doing tourist crap (our first visit) so I saw none of that in Delhi (I did see a fabulously named shop in the business I was in Delhi's old town: "Fine Bearing Shop", LOL, they apparently sold used bearings -- wish I could have dropped in).

EDIT: Bryant, the ONE guy was an American on the tour. but he had never used BTC before, just read about it.

Funeral pyres on the Ganges River one evening.  I could only get about 10 of the pyres in the photo, there were some 16 or so at this site when we passed by on the boat:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxnHmH-02CQIQ3VHT2U2ZFJkNXJhRTAwTy15NzUwR2FDVnFj/view?usp=sharing

They wrap the bodies up within 24 hours, put butter oil on them and burn the bodies in sandalwood pyres within 24 hours.  Those who can do so do that at Varanasi (Benares) where I took this one.

I was on a guided tour for Americans, so not exposed to India's HUGE tech industry.

Decoded asked for a picture or two, here's one of Mt. Everest that I took a few days ago on Buddha Air Flight 101 (yes...):

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxnHmH-02CQIenZiNktURVdHb0lvNjFlWGpJM0dsMWN6MGlB/view?usp=sharing

Have to click the link, still badly jetlagged...

Another photo soon on the Ganges, no BTC there either...

Geez, and all I thought was that NOTHING was happening in Cryptostan while I was gone.  Guess I have a LOT of reading to catch up on.

Pleased to see you moving ahead, TPTB.  With what I just saw (India & Nepal) and what I have read (NSA & FBI had ZIP on the two Paki murderers in California), I would line to see BOTH orthogonality of fungibility and and anonymity (both) in you coin.

...

We are back from a long trip to India and Nepal.  If wanted I can share pics with those interested.

I see that "not much" that I can see has happened in "Bitcoinistan" since I left.

I will mention that NO ONE has heard of Bitcoin save ONE person in our tour group (18 of us total).

Bitcoin may be BIG in China, but not in India (certainly not Nepal, now under a fuel embargo by India -- complicated).

India IS progressing faster than I woulod have guessed, they have seen the light re infrastructure (and other things to advance, you know, things like economic freedom, etc.) and of course a relatively tranquil democracy.  But, BTC ain't ready for primetime there.  Pity.
2367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't HODL!!! on: November 07, 2015, 06:00:34 PM
For most people, hold is not their intention, as least most of the time.

let me guest : you are rich, no ?

I'm not ... and i want earn my work (money) ... because i'm not afford to loose this capital to buy some shitted device (i choose carefully my devices).

bitcoin is a reserve of money, better, A HELL BETTER than my bank now.
in 2015, it's the most noticiable thing.

i buy 500 euros per month of BTC (no more to safe in life economies).

+ 1

You're walking the walk, mon amis.

Bitcoin and gold are two alternatives that most people should be looking at HODLing.

SPEDNing and HODLing BTC are both legitimate.
2368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Netcode/Netcash?] Name poll for AnonyMint's upcoming coin? on: November 07, 2015, 04:17:04 AM
Netcash is good to go.

I double dare you to delete this post.

Haha, no information has been deleted. Chillax.

netcash.me

Note I still think netcodes is the good risk to take on the social currency unit for reasons stated upthread, unless a better idea comes up. Any way if the market sells off netcodes and buys up netcash, then so be it (we won't lose either way). For the consensus block chain 2.0 network name I am still leaning to Netcode, but I haven't totally abandoned Sync or SyncNet.

Netcash is good to go.
+1

It sounds less geeky than Netcode. I still like Ion tho...  Cry

Ion is donated to Aeon (but they haven't availed of the domain transfer yet).

Ion doesn't mean money. And it doesn't mean anything as a social money to normal people. Ion/Aeon is a geek forum type pump name. Good for a coinmarketcap listing, but not enough for big time user adoption. Cool for altcoin speculators, but very limited user adoption scope. It is perfect for the Aeon folks. Let them have it. I want to attempt something with much wider adoption ambitions.

Consider netcash.io as well.  That .io [Indian Ocean] domain I am seeing more and more.  Perhaps .gl as well (Google uses .gl [Greenland] at their equivalent of tinyurl.com: goo.gl).  An example of goo.gl's URL-shortening service:

https://goo.gl/jiJcK7  (bearing sales 2012 - 2015, my avatar is the 11-IJ-111001 wheel bearing)

You may be able to lock up other domain names too, THAT would be a good investment IF NetCash takes off.

Also, contacting the owner(s) of netcash.com, .org, etc.  RIGHT BEFORE you go live...
2369  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain shared payment is working? on: November 07, 2015, 04:11:13 AM
...

Sometimes blockchain.info's SharedCoin service does not work, I do not know why.  But, when it does, it usually works OK.  It offers "adequate" levels of privacy.

bitmixer.io seems to work better for me.  I have used both many times.  I am in bitmixer's signature campaign because I am a happy customer (the little bit of BTC that I earn is nice too).

Note that both services typically cost between 0.5% and 1.0%.  "No free ride."

Whichever service(s) you choose, follow instructions carefully!
2370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to "wash" your coins on: November 07, 2015, 02:14:39 AM
I would recommend bitmixer.io

I have never had a problem with them ever.

Seconded.  I have used bitmixer.io many times just to keep my own BTC trail more private.  They have always treated me right.

Once I had a problem (my fault, but not scam, an honest reparable mistake), and they fixed me up after I proved my case.

Highly recommended.  Their fee is a semi-random amount (more or less your choice) of between 0.5% - 1.0%.

Do follow the instructions!

I have been waiting and hoping now for quite some time that some press reports (etc.) would "do it" for BTC (make it attractive enough to the masses to start in).

It looks like it will take MANY such stories to get people's attention.  May, many such stories.

And, of course, more places to SPEDN Bitcoin.

Biggest Bitcoin Exchange OKCoin Suffers Cyber Attack; Price Plummets

The world’s largest bitcoin exchange OKCoin has suspended some of its services indefinitely, following a malicious cyber attack from unknown hackers.

Due to an increasing number of complaints on bitcoin forums and panels including Bitcointalk.org and Bitcoin Reddit, OKCoin, which processes almost 40% of all bitcoin trades, announced to its users:

http://cointelegraph.com/news/115562/biggest-bitcoin-exchange-okcoin-suffers-cyber-attack-price-plummets

still early days.

If there is a causality between OKCoin's problems and the current plunge in BTC price, then that would suggest that recent reports of China being the BIGGEST PLAYER in Bitcoinistan are true.

And it could be true!  I have seen nothing that would tell me that US HODLers of BTC have been dumping them (although I recently spent some on gold).
2373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To The Moon on: November 06, 2015, 07:02:09 PM
I am not sure how high is moon. Maybe $10,000?

When all the bitcoins have been created, there will be 2.1 quadrillion satoshi's. This should be enough to give every man, woman and child in the world (7.5 billion), 280,000 satoshi's.

If this isn't enough, even though it would be difficult to create more bitcoins, the satoshi can be easily divided into as many smaller parts as we need - in the programming.

What this means is, we are in the very early stages of Bitcoin. We, the early adopters, take the risks, but ultimately the rewards will be greater than ever.

Smiley

While I am very much a fan of Bitcoin, I think that it is unwise to much faith in anything so far into the future as when BTC production will stop.  Do keep in mind that Bitcoin is nowhere close to being perfect, it is likely that something else will come along between *now and then* to supplant BTC.  In technology, it seems nothing stays FIXED for long.

Still, I will HODL (and OK, SPEDN) BTC as conditions for me warrant.

But, I still suggest diversification for almost everybody's investments.
2374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't HODL!!! on: November 06, 2015, 06:54:25 PM
...

Because the possible tremendous upside in future BTC price, I like to HODL much of my BTC.

But, I SPEDN where I can!  It is fairly hard to find retailers (NONE close to where I live), but there are online sellers of GOLD, and buying gold can use a fair number of BTC.

I like the above suggestions of topping off holdings of BTC after spending, I have been doing so.

I see nothing wrong with holding Bitcoin though.

TPTB evidently does not know that I "outed myself" as a new member of The Tinfoil Hat Brigade there at Zero Hedge the day they purportedly killed bin Laden and put him into the Indian Ocean without ANY evidence for us to see.

That day I lost all confidence in our government (and I mean ALL), so I signed up.  Under the direction of Senior Zero Hedge Contributor "Cognitive Dissonance" I joined the Lunatic Fringe Battalion (instead of the possibly more glamorous Space Cadet Battalion).  I am now at the rank of Junior Corporal.  Promotion is slow with the Lunatics, it is also noisy and chaotic around here...

Now that you know some history, I will just mention that I would be getting lost in the tall weeds by further commenting on a new crypto.

I guess for me, I will wait until you have your work done.  Then you can explain it to our community, and we will take it from there.

2376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Netcode?] Name poll for AnonyMint's upcoming coin? on: November 06, 2015, 05:56:24 AM

OROBTC notes his name taken in vain (reply #233), but is not in a position to judge a name for a crypto, assess likelihood of success (particularly among Asians whose mentality I do not know), nor even make any comments on what I would like to see in a new coin.  Or even understand what TPTB is trying to accomplish (that may be because I have not read anything before this page).

A "Store of Value" coin would be interesting for me to look at, but TPTB is going in other directions.  SoV coins would be attractive only to a small minority with mind-sets similar to my own.  And Asian young girls (young latinas as well) just aren't on my wavelength.  Nor would I even have a clue how to design a crypto to even BE a Store of Value.

*   *   *

I would note that "Bitcoin" to me sounds like a great name to me.  Very snappy, *crack*!  Digital, yet money.

But, my wife tells me that I have no imagination..., so NOW is a good time for me to GTFO of here.   Smiley

Good luck, TPTB!
2377  Economy / Speculation / Re: We Are Making History on: November 06, 2015, 05:37:10 AM
...

Well one thing I have noticed in the year and a half or so that I have been watching Bitcoin.  And that is:

No one knows shit about where the price will go.

NO ONE called this spike 10 days ago, no one that I read here nor anywhere else.

NO ONE predicted how long the BEAR market in BTC would last as we went down from $1000 to $700 to $500 to $300......

Maybe the dynamics of BTC may indeed allow a HUGE PRICE INCREASE as time goes by (probably, IMO).  As the technology catches on, as the "halvings" relentlessly constrict future supply, etc.

But, one thing lil ol me has seen is that NO ONE has a good idea of where the price will be next month.....

2378  Economy / Economics / Re: America's new debt ceiling - $19,600,000,000,000 on: November 06, 2015, 05:24:15 AM

Or deflation FIRST, then hyperinflation after.  That is a common pattern seen in economic history.  And that scenario is my "working scenario", what I am trying to plan for.

And "they" get a chance to whack you both ways: your stuff is worth less in Round One (deflated), then when you start to hoard CA$H they whack your money in Round Two (hyperinflation).

It is important to remain vigilant and DIVERSIFIED!  Because this will not end well....

Avoid debt too, it's a killer.

Well that is not deflation what you describe. Many economists dont know the definition of what deflation is and i see this in economy shows as well to be mistaken.

What you describe is a pump & dump scheme, deflation is not that.

Deflation is when everything costs less , in parrelel with everything else.

You cant just make wages go down, and then print money to pump up the stock market, you cannot call that deflation. That is more like theft.

Deflation is not here yet.  By my "working definition", deflation is a scarcity of money, where prices do indeed go down.  Deflation may very well arrive if interest rates go up, banks accounts are seized or robbed (Bail-In), stock market crash, and/or other causes.

Wages can indeed go down in a deflation, see the 1930s in the USA.  "Deflation" of another sort happened in the USA from about 1880 - 1910, as technology came along and LOWERED prices of consumer goods.  In that case, "deflation" was a good thing.

Typically, inflation/hyperinflation happens AFTER a deflation, when the authorities get scared...

Deflation means different things to different people.
2379  Economy / Speculation / Re: DEUTScHE BANK ALMOST BANKRUPT WILL SEND BITCOIN TO THE MOON on: November 05, 2015, 10:28:20 PM
DB going down would be a massive blow to the general economy.

Probably, it is not even allowed to fail, it will be saves by the government / EU , but that will take some serious, serious cash to turn those numbers around.
It is definitely too big to fail. I wouldn't even consider such option.
Nevertheless, news like that is definitely playable and may add fuel to a speculative growth, like the one we are just witnessing.

I agree as well.  DB is TBTF.  Their government will not allow it, the bank will be saved.

That does not mean that savers or account holders there will be!  A "Bail-In" (account holders would lose some of their money -- THAT happened in Cyprus) is very possible, perhaps probable.

Anyone with money at DB should think about taking some out and putting it elsewhere (gold, Bitcoin, CA$H at home, etc.).
