1921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.2 on: July 05, 2014, 12:11:08 PM
anybody noticed slower speed with 4.1 and 4.2?With v4.0 i was getting  30hash more

I reduced GPU usage intensity a lot in latest versions, but it can cause only 0.1% slower speed. I can make this mode optional if you want.
1922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XPM GPU Miner discussion on: July 05, 2014, 12:08:13 PM
Dev,I am going to mine xpm.But I'd like to shift my rig to newly launch alt for some moments everyday.Does this affect the profit badly on ypool?

You lose profit only when you are not mining.
1923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.1 on: July 05, 2014, 09:33:50 AM
Back ontopic: version 4.1 ignores the -o parameter. Always uses pools.txt.

Yes, it always uses "pools.txt" but it does not ignore "-o" option. It firstly adds pool(s) from "-o" option and then adds pool(s) from "pools.txt".
1924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.1 on: July 05, 2014, 09:26:38 AM
Claymore if i may say some word.
First I wont to say that one "virus detection" of 54 means nothing. I may call ten antivirus maker and told that put file in virus signature and mark it as virus. False positive is from years ago, will be, and always some peace of software will be false positive. I dont wont to go to discussion why is that heapen but it is.
So, one detection doesn't mean nothing and icon oh Trojan doesn't mean it is "bad software".

Your software Claymore is in my case much more "bad" then any proxy. Why?
Because I MUST terminate Kaspersky before I start CPU or GPU miner. so what I should think about your software? That is peace of shi...?
No, you miner, both of your miners are fastest and I am very happy you write it and publish it. But you also do NOTHING to make it compatible with Kaspersky.
Your protection is bad, and you wont to change it because if you does, someone will recompile, change or anything else, and you will loose your dev fee.

And last: if it is true that you earn 6000 XMR ( and who knows how many other coins) then I think you should  release little slower ( lets say 5 % slower) miners, and look what public will accept: your faster or slower miner.
5% is not small amount: I am very small miner, I have 1KH/s. 5% to me is one day of mining in 20 days...  Lower to 2.5 percent...

1. I agree about false alarms. I don't state this proxy is a virus. But I see that my antivirus alarms sometimes when I close it. Scanning is ok, however.
2. You are correct about protection - I cannot remove it because some people want to spend their time to crack the miner instead of writing own one. So I do nothing because I cannot do anything here. Say thanks these guys.
3. Ok, I just released v4.2 with "-nofee" option, in this mode miner is a bit slower (-10%) but absolutely free, so I will lose 100%, you will lose only 5%. If you think that I'm bad greedy guy and does not deserve the fee - enable this mode.
1925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.1 on: July 05, 2014, 06:35:02 AM
it seems older cards like 67xx and 58xx are not supported by 14.6 driver therefore 13.12 driver is in use....i'm using 3.1 on these cards since 4.x miner works only for driver 14.6, it works but i would like to request "-r   Restart miner mode" on ver 3.1 because these cards only run for a few hours or minutes..a restart would be great.

v4.x has two builds - for Catalyst 13.12 and for Catalyst 14.6.
1926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.1 on: July 05, 2014, 06:20:46 AM
This guy promises that his proxy increases hashrate. Well, I'm curious so I checked how it works.
Miner calculates hashrate as TotalNumberOfShares / TotalTimeRunning. If some pool has problems, miner is disconnected and in 20 seconds it will try to connect to same pool. After 3 attempts it will try next pool in fail-over list and so on. During these reconnection attempt mining is stopped and TotalNumberOfHashes is not growing, but TotalTimeRunning is still growing. So if your internet connection is unstable or your pool has some problems like DDOS, maintenance or something else, hashrate will be decreased. As soon as you restart miner hashrate will be back again until same situation.

Now let's try this "proxy". Miner shows same hashrate, but try to disable your internet connection to simulate problems with pool. And you will see though proxy lost its connection to the pool, it does not disconnect miner, so miner still sends shares... to nowhere. Connection to proxy is ok so miner shows same hashrate, calculate hashes, everything looks good, but actually you don't get anything for shares that it finds. Well, let's wait, may be proxy will notice that something wrong? No, it's too simple for such things, I waited for 15 minutes with disabled internet connection but nothing happened, proxy did not disconnect miner so it still sends shares and shows good hashrate Smiley
So now I know how he gets "+50% hashrate"... Another problem is that when you enable internet connection again, nothing happens again, miner still sends shares to nowhere because proxy does not reconnect to the pool. But hashrate is ok of course Smiley

+50% hashrate just by adding proxy? Wow  Grin

I cannot stop this scam, but I can warn:
1. Antivirus Dr.Web found "Trojan.Packed.194" when I tried to close one of these "software" and moved file to quarantine.
2. Miner detects such proxies easily. It shows same hashrate but pool will receive less shares after some time. You can check it if you have enough time.

In future I will refer to this message sometimes because these guys (or it is the same guy) spam thread and this message can be missed easily.
1928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN Windows CPU Miner v3.2 on: July 04, 2014, 05:59:12 PM
Version 3.2 why am I on the XP 2003 system can not run to help solve.

Tested on Windows XP SP2 x86 successfully. What error do you have exactly?
1929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.1 on: July 04, 2014, 05:43:26 PM
v4.1 is available:

- Added "-r" option, now miner can restart itself automatically if GPU failed, also now miner can be restarted periodically, no additional scripts required.
- Reduced intensity dramatically, now Windows almost does not freeze when miner is working. It can also improve stability.
- Fixed some minor bugs.
1930  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.0 on: July 04, 2014, 05:40:22 PM
That address is on several pools.  It has made over 6000 XMR combines and just the 8 pools i checked.  Sorry but he is making bank and Im using the proxy now.  He has earned enough imo.

Your logic is brilliant:
Government gets too much money - so don't pay taxes!
Someone earns too much than I want - let's rob him!

You can agree with dev fee and use miner, or if you don't agree - don't use it.
If you want something good, but don't want to pay for it - you can try to steal/crack it and you will become rich Wink But I have right to protect my property from such things, so in many cases you will fail even if you think that you cracked it, I already explained how miner will work in such situation.
If you just don't want to pay me for my job I can release miner without dev fee but a bit slower. But I doubt that it will be popular: everyone wants only the best. And for free, of course...

I could make dev fee twice less, but you barely notice even 5%, so 2.5% will not help you. So I'm sure the problem is not that you lose 5% for dev fee, the problem is that I earn "too much". If you think that I've already earned enough - create such miner as mine to estimate time, expertise and efforts that are necessary. Otherwise your words are senseless. If you are not so good to do it - may be it's a good idea to think that I earned these 6K XMR fairly?
1931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.0 on: July 04, 2014, 09:21:29 AM
Hey Claymore,

Could you give an estimate of the potential of how much more effective you could make the miner? Are there for instance still apparent flaws which you haven't had the time to do but know will make it faster?

Thanks

I think 10-30%, depends on card.
1932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.0 on: July 03, 2014, 08:05:13 AM
Come on, I'm using your miner. Paying your 5% dev fee. The least you could do is answer my question, will there ever be a 32 bit version of the miner?

I'm not living in this forum, so sorry for the delay Smiley
I think there will not be 32 bit version of this miner, it requires too much GPU memory and it's even unstable sometimes on 64bit systems, I'm sure OpenCL on 32bit platform would work even worse.
1933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XPM GPU Miner discussion on: July 02, 2014, 01:52:29 PM
Ah great, I see it's there (it said v10.1 in the OP hence why I asked).

If I want to use the minergate pool, am I able to to so using the pool version (it states only ypool in the readme file)? Or should I pick solo version?

Also I saw you increased donation amount to 10%... Cheeky!

1. OP is not updated because I cannot update it, this thread was created before I came here.
2. This thread is for XPM miner, it always had 10% dev fee. To mine on minergate you need XMR miner, it's different thread  Grin
1934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XPM GPU Miner discussion on: July 02, 2014, 01:28:43 PM
v11.0 is available:

- Improved speed by about 25-30% for all cards. Up to 12.0 CPD on non-overclocked 290X.
Ahem... where do I download it from? :-l

Claymore, do you plan solo version ?

May be later, I'm busy with new update. Right now you can setup private pool for that.
1936  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore XMR/QCN/FCN/BCN GPU Miner v4.0 on: July 02, 2014, 11:46:15 AM
CN PoW requires a lot of memory access, memory latency is very important in this algorithm. Memory size is important too.
290x hynix has 44 compute units, 4GB memory and gets about 740 h/s.
280x hynix has 32 compute units, 3GB memory and gets about 460 h/s.
Miner optimized for both these cards.

Doesn't seem quite right when I can get my 7870 cards (hynix AND elipida) to mine at 350 h/s each.

Something doesn't make sense here.

What's wrong? Do you have same speed for both hynix and elpida?

I got only 2500h/s with 6*280x @1160.What's wrong?To compare,My another 6*270x got 2230 h/s.So little gap.

Probably you have Hynix memory on 270x and Elpida memory on 280x. Elpida memory is slower, memory type is important.
Yes.My msi 280x does have elpida memory while my 270x have hynix memory. But when I calculate the profit( I mind at the same pool with different usernames). The 280x rig have almost triple the profit gained by 270x.Is that means the h/s is not that important?

h/s is important. Your question is related to pool, not to miner, pool mining for CN is a bit tricky about payments if you mine for a short time period. Leave both rigs to mine for a few days and you will see that profit is related to h/s. Or learn/ask details about pool payments Smiley

WATCHDOG: Thread 8286904 hangs in OpenCL call, you need to restart miner Sad
WATCHDOG: Thread 8286904 hangs in OpenCL call, you need to restart miner Sad

It means that miner is unstable on your system. The best solution is to use "-wd 1" option to close miner in such cases and use script to restart it.
