I just bought all the pieces in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfE_QidD75M.

I'm sure there are other instructions, but I found these the other day.  I used 3/4" aluminum and wood, instead of 1", to help control costs (Yes, I'm cheap like that).  I'll let everyone know how it goes, if there is interest.

I found the same video and I will probably build something like that. My only concern is about the wood part and the mobo for fire hazard.

I found an open ATX frame on aliababa but it's 20$ shipping for over a month of wait. Couldn't find one like that in any other place.

Shame it would be perfect

I am in the process of reworking my rig setup in prep for the fall.

Shout out to HerbPean  he found a good deal for me.  an arosck 81 board with ram cpu and cooler.

someone pulled some strings!!!

oups  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

 Grin

Yeah they are sold out now.

Biostar has a mobo out that does 6 gpus if you wanna look into that if you need more

I'm all good thanks, I bought the same deal. I never build a GPU rig, that's my first one. I bought 6 Rx470 4g.  I couldn't buy all of the same manufacturer tho. I wanted to pay BTC and i used Newegg which is limiting 1 or 2 GPU per manufacturer

I just need riser now (I need to read on that part of the rig) and I go grab some aluminium pieces for the rig. I want to find an alternative to the wood part to sit the mobo on. wood scares me for fire.

366  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmainwarranty of Colorado is offering extended s-9 warranty options on: September 21, 2016, 03:01:10 PM
Nice!
Good to have that option open for us. Using the short data cables or longer ones? (and if longer ones, from where?)

longer from j4bberwock purchased last fall for the s-7

I may no longer try to repair or replace s-9 gear just slap parts from one to another  until they all die off.

I now can say I have 2 spare hash boards.

I did quite a bit of math on this and I think I am better off going that route.

Sucks .....

There's a cycle, a pattern, that you can see in the 504 block graph especially.  The peaks come and go, but each peak is a little higher than the last one.  I wonder how long this cycle can keep going?  From what I am hearing about the S9 failures, probably not too long unless someone else brings some killer gear to the market (cough cough Avalon where are you cough cough).

I LOST  the s9 control board on my newest s9 the one that lasted 10 hours before it tossed a hash board.

I feel the pain ... just bough 6 RX470, i will try to mine with that for the time been Tongue

Even the wolves have nothing for sale right now.  Come on Avalon so we add to Kano.is!

I know...I noticed S9s seemed to be pau (Hawaiian for all done) a while back. From my personal, admittedly sometimes nimrod, view there is one (and more, I'm sure, but this one I prefer to hold) set of reasons for nothing being heard, and no S9s being built. If the rumors of an "A7" are founded in something, then it is probably in a performance/power/cost range that would put it hands down over the S9. If I were building S9s, I'd hold off on new batches if I had reason to believe I really needed an S10 instead...I'd be putting my resources into that S10.

Anyway...assuming the rumors are not rumors...I think we'll know with certainty one way or the other by 1 Oct. Dunno why that date particularly, but it seems about as long as a company might be able to reasonably keep a secret like that...if it's a true thing.

 Cool

not sure if the avalon 7 will be a better miner, but the s-9  chip is not durable.

The death rate is very high on the hashboards.

This has to be causing them a lot of problems on many levels.
Even though USA based bitmainwarranty.com  now offers an s9 with 3 ,9 or 12 month warranties  and will allow for paypal I am waiting to decide if I want more.

With no info on A7 in sight and S9 boards failing without repair capability from Bitmain themselves...

I have gone to Plan B to collect more BTCs, as a temporary solution.

Sad reality this, in my humble opinion....

I have only past gen gear but I do the same. Tongue

Hoping for Avalon to save me !

On newegg canada they got the Biostar TB85 motherboard for $100 CAD. You can pay by Bitcoin directly.

It has 6 PCIe slots, very similar to the Asrock BTC Pro we had back in the Litecoin days.

From time to time they got some refurbished deals also. For $100 CAD I got the Gigabyte 990FXA motherboard which has 6 PCIe slots and uses a cheap $5 AM3 CPU instead of the expensive 1150 celerons. However its currently sold out.

Thanks, i saw them in stock on .com but i havent in .ca. I must of missed in stock?

I'll put it on my to watch (more) often list.

I missed the boat also :-( bot OOS right now

KAno,

I was wondering why the block 430103 (one of us) is not full (68k only)

https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/block/000000000000000004451f1ea23b2815cd046a83facf2983c0d3e7962b15d74f

I know it's a back to back block within 15 sec but I tough we would have fill it up too.

Thanks for the explanation !

Herb
We don't put free txns in the block change.

Thanks !

it is a solid spike  about 255-260 diff pace at the moment  but it does not have to stay there Undecided

Yeah what a fudging huge spike, I was happy with the slow increase since a few Diff.

I just hope it's Avalon, not bitmain ...

I suspect that the HW just mess up with the hasrate calculation of the board #3 (43hw in 36 sec)

Just guessing (software issue)

Hey All,

Phil is one my favorite on this forum and for all his hard work on this thread I would to be the first one to sent a gift (some BTC) as a small gesture of thanks. (I will be sending you something to your first profile's BTC address.)

I highly encourage all of you to do the same, but it is, indeed, up to you.

Hope everyone join me so you can buy some more of this adult's liquid we call Alcohol so you can enjoy it during your vacation from this thread and warm your heart for the incoming winter ! (Or maybe one more GPU !  Grin)

Phil, thanks you so much for all the hard work with this thread. It's been really a fun ride.  Cool
