Should be able to find it and pay a lot less. I mean it was 1$ for it but 20$ to ship Edit: its 43$ for 6 of them ridiculus Yeah we can find them with an alternative seller for sure, like Ebay. Just not sure what exactly we need

Just saw the screen which you have to set your bitmain userid for the "solo mining" option and you earn 1 bitmain's point per GH. I hate point system .... so much.
I really hope we can tweek this for our address and pool. I'm pretty sure we can.

I bought 6 of them. There is already 4 of them sold. I will have 2 to sell.
If you want some let me know.
Not sure what adapter ew need for the unit. I just saw a picture of the device in the Hardware thread. It doesn't look to be a regular power adaptor but more like an Apple power supply device or router. Double metal header that you have to slide in to switch from US to EU but i'm not sure.

With 16 or 18 pin data cable connections ?
18

Mine has two fan connectors, doesn't seems to be that one.
EDIT: also 4 blades connectors
This topic is pointless. If you are unable to read pins, then measure the difference between PCI-E plugs. Pictured are only one of 16 pin versions. There are also 16 pin version, with four data cable connectors and 2 fan connectors. Which is more common, than the one which is in the picture. Probably you have 18 pin version, however, it depends on the production time. I even got with the same batch and order botch version of miners a single shipment. a picture of thousand words https://www.dropbox.com/s/agshd6p7jf6niwm/IMG_2046.JPG?dl=0

This is what I got. No HW. 3 HW
15-10-02 01:32:30.158] COMPAC 0: No valid hashes for over 10 secs, attempting to reset 15-10-02 01:32:30.176] COMPAC 0 attempted reset got err:(0) LIBUSB_SUCCESS
If it's directly plugged into the computer, sounds like windows 7 is probably set to save energy. Check under the power options and see if it's set to actively suspend USB and if it is turn it off. While your in the power settings, set the computer sleep to never. Will do thanks !

Is this on the Pi that you set up the other day and had a little trouble with?
What kind of hub, USB 2.0 or USB 3.0? Pi's don't like 3.0 hub's and are really picky with 2.0 hub's, because some of them will back-feed power to the Pi.
Directly to my PC (Win7) Tomorrow I will get novak's version to be able to get higher. I want one !

And now we have a real life experience of why people sell(and why people actually sometime buy it); Most people have absolutely no idea how BTC work. Hopefully someone with proper sense will come and offer me some nummy S5's I think now that 320USD$ is way too much now. Yeah I took like an hour to explain the basic of mining and BTC. He was quite happy to meet me. And yeah I would agree ... it's too much

Yes the S3 should be 0.25BTC or so which is like $75 because I bought a bunch locally about 9 months ago for $100 but in my area people are selling these things for $150 a piece saying that in Alberta we have low energy prices and they are huge money makers.
Sound about right for the S3 value, but the people in Alberta must be living in some kind of illusion. According to http://www.ucahelps.alberta.ca/index.aspx the prices range from 5+cents/kWh in summer to 11+cents/kWh in winter. I'm not sure in what kind of world that's cheap but if those numbers are relatively accurate, then that's certainly not true. Seeling gear based on your power price is pretty dumb IMO. Well the value of a miner is based on its profitability, which is based on the overall electricity price vs difficulty. To me if i got a S5 for 5$, i "could" ROI it in a month. To most people that pay a regular /kWh rate, break even is probably not even possible in the first place. I can understand the argument when haggling the miner's value, in this case it was simply a Fallacy. Good argument but untrue. Yeah if you only look to your local sellers, the price can be influenced based on the local electricity price. I see S3 for 150$ on Kijiji ... Doubling the price because we have cheap electricity. would be is a rip off imo I bought an S4 like 2 months ago. I told him, the price you have found are insane. Look, this is out you can calculate the ROI. He was like "WoW this is insane" I'm not sure what those S4 numbers are haha, what are they? And for the S3. I'm going to assume CAD, not US. The ROI would be 5 months with FREE electricity. Completely unacceptable for such old hardware. Not people who say "0.07$~USD$/kWh is cheap so buy my stuff for twice its value!" is just nuts to me. No offense intended to anyone. Yeah no offence to anyone, just saying 150$ canadian for an S3 is an insane price. it's was like 1000$ for an S4 ... ROI = impossible

Are you guys sure they will underperform ?
I don't think they will under perform. One has to wonder if BITMAIN got a bad batch of something to feel the need to sell an entire batch of S7's (Batch 2) at 4.66 TH/s then the next batch (Batch 3) [To ship on the same ship dates] at 4.86 TH/s. I believe they have figured it out and are taking action to fix the problem for batch 3 and the rest of batch 1 but it's too late for many units already made that are 4.66 TH/s. Which are being sold at a lower cost. I don't believe they want to send out emails to those who ordered batch 1 and wish to make things right. However, they are cutting it rather close for the 10 days late. If after 10 days, I'm wondering what the compensation would be? I think it's quite possible mine and Phil's S7's will be in good working order (4.86 TH/s). 24 hours mines are at 4.791 and 4.797 50GH/s off is nothing. So mines also looks all good.

He PMed me this morning that it will take 3-4 days* to receive the miners, set-up and config each for the pools. Just be patient.
okay they earn about 9.37 usd a day before power power is about 2.88 usd a day so they net 6.49 usd a day. 4 days = a 26 usd loss net profit. I paid as did others a few extra fees . insurance and the like that was 64 usd if I recall so that is 90 usd. the 18 to ship the 78 for a psu and the 90 dollar paypal fee I don't count but they are 186 so I get a bit anxious while i wait. for mining. plus the fact that these will under preform make this not so good for my "high anxiety". Are you guys sure they will underperform ?
