Bump for the weekend !
1162  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Malfunctioning SP20E on: August 06, 2015, 04:40:10 PM
It's a risk and it all depends of what is going on with it (What is actually the problem).

And no i'm not going to buy them to throw them to the garbage (recycle)
1163  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Malfunctioning SP20E on: August 06, 2015, 04:11:44 PM

And what's wrong with that ?
1164  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [lee group]419$ the sales promotion of hosted antminer S5(golden psu included) on: August 06, 2015, 02:40:31 PM
Still waiting on SFards news...

In the meantime, anyone selling at this point?
5 units sfards miner already arrive in our farm, but the quality is not as good as they promise, only 1 of them run at 1.5T/48M, all other four canot farm at promised hashrate, 2 of them canot run at all, ask other friend got similar report.

WoW, that's really bad
1165  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: July 25th to Aug 8th diff thread (temp) on: August 05, 2015, 09:21:03 PM
I would pick A Tongue

I'm hoping for A too, I hated the upgrade from S3s to S5s, actually didn't even upgrade most of them as I didn't want replace all PSUs and there wasn't that much of a gain of W/GH. This time it should be more interesting.

I also think if Bitmain is refitting their mine with newer hardware, the form factor and connector factor is going to remain the same. It make it more likely for what i'm hoping to happen, happen.

I'm just not sure Bitmain need to sell the new stuff yet, but at the same time, wouldn't it be more worthwhile to sell the hardware before the Diff go up?

If they mine 2 weeks with them before they are release, it's 2 week with more income in their pocket before they sell them to the public.

This is why we think they are selling their used S5 to flip them with their new S7 (or whatever they named it)

They are many factors to take in consideration before they sell the S7 to the public like the difficulty (if someone else bring a new hardware), the bitcoin value ... and so on.

1166  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: July 25th to Aug 8th diff thread (temp) on: August 05, 2015, 07:43:44 PM
I think you have to also take in consideration what is the power consumption of the new hardware. That might be a "ball game changer". S5 590Watt vs S7 850Watt (speculating)

That might bring a lot or power manipulation or none at all Tongue

Again, pretending I'm Bitmain - if I got a 20 PH/s datacenter full of 600W miners, would I

a) develop a new miner in a form factor that is a plug-n-play replacement for the old one

or

b) develop a new miner so that it requires a complete overhaul of power and cooling infrastructure.

I think at the time of S5 development Hashnest wasn't big enough for them to care too much about that (therefore S3 ~350W -> S5 ~600W) but now they have a strong incentive to keep it simple.

I would pick A Tongue
1167  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: July 25th to Aug 8th diff thread (temp) on: August 05, 2015, 07:26:28 PM
Well we do know that Bitmain is unplugging S5s to sell as "new" to make way for the real new gear, so a small drop can be expected while this swap occurs.

If I was Bitmain I would do it like this:

- bring 100 new miners
- unplug 100 S5s (I'm assuming the new ones are roughly 1:1 replacement just faster)
- plug 100 new ones in

Rinse and repeat until all 5 or 10 or 20 PH/s is replaced.

I wouldn't empty out the whole data center at once because I wouldn't be able to manufacture all new miners or ship the old ones out instantly anyway.

I'm a bit lazy with math I also would have done it the way you described.

But if I just pack up a whole 3000-4000 going offline right now and get a minus one vs a plus three the math may work. Later today I will do some math on this.

I think you have to also take in consideration what is the power consumption of the new hardware. That might be a "ball game changer". S5 590Watt vs S7 850Watt (speculating)

That might bring a lot or power manipulation or none at all Tongue
1168  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: August 05, 2015, 04:07:47 PM
bought a used Antminer S4.

How do I know which version of the PSU I got ?

thanks.

Hey there HerbPean!  If you see "APLUSPOWER" on a sticker on a side of the PSU, it's the second version.

But the second version is not a lot better than the first one, they are dying one by one, slowly...  Sad

Yep. Both versions are garbage. Might as well replace it now and avoid downtime.

Thanks for the info guys,

Any good cheap replacement  ?

Prelude, did you get my PM ? (About the fan replacement)
1169  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Malfunctioning SP20E on: August 05, 2015, 12:38:54 PM
bump !
1170  Bitcoin / Mining support / S4 fan replacement on: August 05, 2015, 01:10:03 AM
I got a dead fan in my S4. They are pretty loud I was wondering if the delta afb1212 would be a good more silent replacement. It's like 150 CFM versus 239 tho...

Any other tricks to reduce the noise ?

Thanks !

Herb

I'm surprised OP has let this thread go to shit and hasn't been deleting more posts.

He probably scammed a few members already, doesn't give a shit anymore.
1172  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Second hand S5 for Bitmain, are they worth ? on: August 04, 2015, 09:39:58 PM
Daily update; Bitmain still hasnt shipped pre august 5 date. The text said "No later than 5th august" so they're not technically late yet but i'm not particularly impressed by the shipping time at the moment.

If it hasnt shipped by the time i wake up tomorrow, i wonder what i will do, since it will be 6th august in China.
Should i argue that i paid before they closed the thread and changed the text to "Shipping starts from August 14th after receiving full payment."?

I wonder what they would reply, but i hope it doesnt come to that. 9+ more days of waiting would be unacceptable.

bitmain is really solid about their shipping schedule. I would be really surprise they don't honor their date.

1174  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for everywhere not already covered on: August 04, 2015, 08:42:41 PM
If by "almost half" you mean "slightly less than a fourth" then you're correct, it's "almost half".

Yeah I misread the information. I tough it was 240 + Queue ... but the Q = 240.

My bad ;-)
1175  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Antminer S3's for sale on: August 04, 2015, 07:05:08 PM
You have 0 (ZERO) trust.

Anyone buying from him, please use an escrow.

1176  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SIDEHACK STICK] Official sales thread for everywhere not already covered on: August 04, 2015, 06:22:24 PM
Because it's looking like nobody's gonna swoop in and buy everything ever, but I've had a few people asking about picking up more than ten, I'm relaxing the hard limit of ten per customer.

I also have updated the first post with a current count of sales. I have some outstanding invoices and bulk orders updating as sales keep going, but as of right now it's exactly what it says it is - the number of sticks which have been paid for so far.

Almost half sold and more to come, it's a great achievement !

Yeah they delete my warning about his bad trust.

TomatoCage flagged him as a scammer.

Well I did my part and I won't be part of any of their business.
