1481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: June 05, 2015, 05:20:05 AM
Chance to lose certain amount of times in a row is linearly corresponding to the total number of times you roll the dice. The more you roll, the bigger is the chance to have many times in a row winning/losing sequence. 10x times in a row is a very small value and expected very quickly. I believe that on the old JD site there were several people with > 30x times in a row winning/ losing sequences, the biggest was something between 32x and 35x in a row sequence, can't remember how much exactly.

There is indeed just one 30+ streak on the old JD, after billions of bets.
The longest and second longest losing streak is 32 and 27 bets long respectively, while the longest winning streak is 30 bets long.
The full details can be found in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=610339.msg7060900#msg7060900.

I wonder why doesn't a strategy to start martingale after 15 losses be successful if your bankroll can cover upto 20 losses. This way their strategy will be able to take up to 35 losses.

Because it makes no sense, lets not talk about the time (it would take you probably months to even make 0.001 bitcoins doing that since you have to bet millions of times) but it would be the same. Imagine we can martingale only until 2 losses. The chances would be like this (assuming its red (R) and black (B) like a roulette)

RR
RB
BB
BR

So thats 4 possibilities 25% each which means 25% chances of loosing 2 times in a row

If you instead wait 1 lost bet before betting:

RRR
RRB
RBR
RBB
BBB
BBR
BRB
BRR

thats 8 possibilities which mean a 12.5% chances of loosing 3 times in a row, 12.5% is way lower thann 25% its half but it just doesnt matter lets say you are betting on red and you get this one a black now its time to bet again from start and start martingale but your chances would still be 25% chances of loosing the next 2 bets

If you get a black first the possibilities were:

BBB
BBR
BRB
BRR
So now

BB
BR
RB
RR

You have this possibilities (25%) so you are just wasting more time for nothing.
1482  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling Twitter Tweets! 9K+ FOLLOWERS! on: June 05, 2015, 05:02:36 AM
too much money. Your account is worth maybe 2 satoshi per tweet at most.
Some people have 100K followers and dont get what your asking when they sell tweets.
I will make you an offer though. 100 litoshi for 50 tweets.
deal?

His account is probably fake but if it was real his price would be reasonable, did you take a look at the twitter campaigns here? They pay up to 0.005 per tweet for less followers than 9k and you can post like 10-20 times so his price is not crazy

The only winners are the people that don't gamble.
i guess more the ones who gamble with brains, the ones who stop playing while they are still in profit and dont do stupid bets

And who the hell does that?? And by the way there are no stupid or smart bets in dice, it doesnt matter what you bet, nothing is reaally better than anything else, you are just another gambling addict falling into the gamblers fallacy. No one goes to a casino to win a little profit and then never come back again.
as far as i understood he wasnt talking about dice, he was talking about gambling, and also i sometimes quit in time and dont gamble

Talking about gambling? Dice is a form of gambling, he didnt specifiy but dice is gambling so my example still stands. You can make profit on sport bets? Yes you can but in order to make profit someone else has to lose, someone has to be that someone else and it doesnt really matter what type of gamble it is, no one goes to play only 1 game and leave forever.

1486  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: What Do YOU Look For in a Faucet? on: June 04, 2015, 06:59:30 PM
Another good faucet for me is the Bitcoinaliens faucet , the one with 5 minutes interval (aside from 1k sat fixed hourly fixed from their another site). The way does this faucet gives is what I look in a good faucet.

Mm for me its not good and probably for other people as well, you have to claim every 5 minutes, thats not good, the profit is definitely better than other faucets per hour if you have the time to sit and claim every 5 minutes, i dont. What i like to do is claim once every hour on different faucets, not too many, simple and easy, if you have the time and really want to spend it claiming faucets then go ahead but its not going to be profitable.

250 x 12 Satoshis is the minimum reward per hour in BTCaliens. Its impossible you get 250 always every 5 minutes. Like mine earlier I hit a jackpot of 15k satoshis from there. And afterwards 50% 400 , 30% 250 and 3% 1000. Overall much better than 1k satoshis per hour or 30mins. I don't get bored waiting and I can monitor it because at the same while fauceting , Im doing my paperworks here in office Cheesy Well everyone has different likes to look in a faucet. I just state mind. Smiley Hope my English is fine lol.

I know whats the average, they tell you, around 4k satoshis/hour which is good but its not great, you need 100 hours just to get 0.004 bitcoins and thats not good, then again if you have time and the patience to go there every 5 minutes and claim, good for you but personally i cant do that and thats why variable claim periods would be the best solution.

1488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How greedy you are ? on: June 04, 2015, 05:17:41 PM
You can gamble for fun without being greedy, but if you're just playing to win or make profit quickly then you'll likely spiral out of control very quickly and end up in the red losing most of your cash. I think with most vices gambling is about moderation.

Depends on what gambling games, blackjack, poker, yes you can have a lot of fun there even if you lose, you can even play without money but dice? Who has fun playing dice? I have fun winning and when you lose you dont have fun anymore, 99.9% of people that play dice do it to make profit, its obvious, you wouldnt play dice without money, would you?
1489  Economy / Gambling / Re: Wanted to know maximum profit had in dice game (Net profit) on: June 04, 2015, 04:59:11 PM
Hi All,

I have tried gambling on dice sites multiple times but sooner or latter i was always in loss, so i would like to know from all the members there experiences and profit they had from dice sites. I wanted to know like how many if us are in profit and by how much?

Thanks

Well thats very shocking that you are losing on dice sites in the long run. Have you tried using some advanced martingale strategies to get an edge?

Yeah exactly. Also its not worth gambling at any odds greater than 49.5% as per my opinion unless you are very lucky.

What the hell are you talking about?? The other guy was sarcastic, you cant have any edge no matter what strategy you use. And the odds dont matter either, you can bet at 50% or at 1% it will be the same

1491  Economy / Gambling / Re: Any Sites to practive a game of Blackjack or other gambling games ? on: June 04, 2015, 04:38:50 PM
I was looking for something like this as well but the problem with all the sites and programs mentioned above is that they are slow or you have to pay to have full features. What i wanted was something to test million of bets fast, have different options, odds , bet size, increase %
1492  Economy / Gambling / Re: How to test strategies on: June 04, 2015, 04:36:06 PM
A similar topic over here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1080218.0

As for dice, shouldn't be too hard to build one. I couldn't find any freely available program . But I am sure you should be able to get one built by requesting one in the digital goods section.

I didnt even see that thread, i know it shouldnt be hard to build one but i was just wondering if there was one already to save me time and all that stuff, anyways thanks i will lock the thread
1493  Economy / Gambling / How to test strategies on: June 04, 2015, 03:49:03 PM
I know there is no strategy in dice or in gambling in general but im very interested in being able to test different strategies fast, without the need to go to a casino, i know you can write scripts to do it but isnt there any better program to do it? With different options like bet size odds bla bla
1494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How greedy you are ? on: June 04, 2015, 03:46:37 PM
Most of the times you wont stop when you are winning and if you lose lets say 1/4 of what you won, you will start to bet even more to try to recover and eventually lose.

Even if you quit when you are ahead, you will probably come back later and it will be the same thing. Lets be honest there is no one that went to a casino made a few bets, won and stopped FOREVER. That just doesnt happen, if you go to a casino is to win a lot of money not to make little profit, you either go big or you lose.

1496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes you pick an altcoin on: June 04, 2015, 09:38:56 AM

public dev is important. anonymous devs can disappear to start new coins.

I'll invest in anonymous stuff but it's risky. There can be good reasons why someone is anonymous so you can't just ignore them all.

I like to know the dev. If they have kids and a job... that sucks. If they are free and fully committed, im in for sure.

Every coin is different. You have to do lots of research if your plan is to accumulate and hold for years.

No my plan is not to accumulate and hold for years, im already doing that with btc but obviously is not bringing me any profit right now so instead i decided to use a small part of it into altcoin investments to make some profit, thats why im looking for coins that are volatile, short term trades.

Personally a i have won 2 btc from 0.04 once, i lost after all tho but there is people that have won much more, like this guy:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1npmaq/highroller_loses_800k_with_allin_bet_on_justdice/

He did lose eventually but got to 7k btc from around 2k which is insane, he had like 5k profit, probably the biggest ever.

1499  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Few Questions and Discussions relating to Trading on: June 04, 2015, 07:29:14 AM
I opened this thread for questions someone might have with trading. I am interested in getting into bitcoin trading . But I have questions regarding a few terms.

Can someone explain how does shorting work ? I understand it is selling the coin or stock at current price when you expect price to fall. If current price is 10$ then you sell and buy back after it falls to say 7$. Then how do you profit out of it ? It just seems to be minimizing losses .

Its not exactly like that, you are not really selling any coins, you are selling something that you dont own, im not good at explaning this but you can check it here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_%28finance%29

Im not really sure how does that apply to bitcoins tho.

Thanks to everyone for your ideas and methods, they are definitely good and will help me, i will probably start investing just a little from now to see how things go, if i see im doing well then i will start using more money.

Im going to take a look in the next few weeks for altcoins to invest, maybe even post here what i picked.
