121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Realizing the value of holding cash on: October 23, 2022, 05:43:18 PM
The point of this thread is simple and general, namely buy when it goes down and sell when it goes up so don't let everything reverse. Due to the current phenomenon, novice traders and investors rarely do research beforehand. They go into certain coins after the hype rises to the surface. Then the pope threw it away and the beginners who thought it would be profitable turned into big losses. DCA in this case needs to be emphasized, always consistent in dropping money in crypto.
I can understand the "when is low? when is high?" mindset, because there are a lot of people who are willing to buy when it is low, but not sure if we are at the bottom already or will it go down even more? Like for example if you check the 40k price saw a lot of people buying during that time, they were wrong and it dropped more, and people are afraid if they buy around 20k and it drops to 10k they would be losing money too.

That's understandable. Or when it goes up, if you bought at 10k and sold at 35k that was a good increase, but it went to 60k+ how could you know that? Which is the difference and the problem, and I can definitely understand that.
But if you have studied the market a bit you would notice that not everyone is able to buy at the exact bottom because we cannot really say this is the bottom so it is good to know how to understand TAs, that way you might not be able to catch the exact bottom but you could be close which is better and if you are focused on a longer-term hodl of your assets, I believe you should be good.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto-assets can have significant environmental impacts on: October 23, 2022, 11:47:26 AM
The mining of crypto-assets can consume a lot of electricity, which can result in greenhouse gas emissions, besides purchased grid electricity, crypto-asset mining operations can also cause local noise, electronic waste, air and other pollution from any direct usage of fossil-fired electricity, and additional air, water, and waste impacts associated with all grid electricity usage that can affect on nearby communities.

What are your thoughts?

Obviously, this trash talk of Bitcoins energy consumption and how it is a danger to the environment isn't going away anytime soon but the good thing is, there have been many facts to prove that this is just a baseless lie from Bitcoin hatters. It is even becoming annoying reading about it.

Bitcoin v. other industries

It is no longer an argument that "Bitcoin miners utilize a substantial amount of hydroelectric, geothermal, and solar power".
I think this should be put to rest already.
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is regulation really inevitable? on: October 23, 2022, 11:28:20 AM
Fully regulate? Quite impossible. The government would regulate cryptocurrency partially. If you deal with p2p and store Bitcoin in a non-custodial wallet like Ledger then how the government would monitor or regulate you? Yes, they can regulate exchange, custodial wallets, etc. That's how they can regulate a large number of users because at the end of the day we have to use the exchange. Dex always won't help is at all points.
And talking about DEXs, I believe for now they are not subject to KYC/AML regulations that's why most people will continue to advise to use them in other to avoid providing your personal information but what happens if the Government really wants to regulate, this means they too might be put under that law as well and both CEXs and DEXs are fully under the Governments monitoring scop except for countries whos Government are pro-Bitcoin/cryptocurrency.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How important are exchanges? on: October 22, 2022, 02:52:22 PM
BTC, This is the fact that BTC is a P2P asset. The answer to your question as per my own perspective is that actually, crypto needs exchanges, not BTC, Alts do need exchanges and open markets for trading and to survive. The case is not for the BTC as Bitcoiners are not interested in the exchanges but traders do as they need other options as to trade there exchanges play important role.
I understand your sentiment buddy, but Bitcoin too needs exchange even though I agree that P2P was the original idea for Satoshi. I bet your first purchase of Bitcoin was through an exchange and so are most of us. The importance of exchanges in the cryptocurrency ecosystem now can no longer be underestimated. I bet if I tell you I want to buy Bitcoin from you and send you my wallet to send the BTC before I send you your cash you wouldn't agree, but the exchange has made that easy.
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency and Gambling on: October 22, 2022, 08:01:24 AM
Well for one the two is closely tied given the fact that a couple of cryptocurrency projects offer betting and gambling as one of their "features", and some will always see any form of chance-based earning as a form of gambling no matter how structured the inner workings of it is. Although posts like these are important in creating a distinction between the two to at least separate them as two completely different concepts that just happened to coincide based on the circumstances.
What we are talking about here is subjective. Fiat can also be close ties with Gambling as well since we all know that from the beginning of Gambling, it has always been facilitated by Fiat. Gambling arenas have taken advantage of the adoption of cryptocurrency just like other sectors of the economy however, a person's mode of trade or investment in crypto also can be referred to as "Gambling" if you are not calculative or intensional about your investment.
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Throwback: Bitcoin was $64k today, a year ago. on: October 22, 2022, 06:55:05 AM
I think this post and the post of coin gecko would somewhat serve as a sign or a perspective on what Bitcoin can do in the long run and how its importance in the world, not just as a speculative asset. But it's important not to forget people who have also purchased at the top and lost money right now. But if they are to wait and believe that it could go back, it is going to work.
They haven't really lost money if they have not sold, just unrealize lost but whoever is investing in Bitcoin must know that Bitcoin investment is for the long term and should be able to wait out the market turbulence of the bears season and also understand that there have been no bear market thus far that Bitcoin has not come back from and I believe this time is not going to be any different.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Crypto Twitter reacted to Kim Kardashian’s $1.26M SEC fine on: October 21, 2022, 03:30:31 PM
Any artise must do a deeply research before they wanna try to promote cryptocurrency. Ethereum max was a garbage scam token. No doubt if SEC was charging him back with more than one millions USD as fines for his action to promote the scam crypto. This proves that celebrity cares only money but they didn't even care with what happened with their followers. There are so many dumb celebrities.
Kim Kardashian is a SHE by the way but doesn't this look really unprofessional of her? Of cause I believe she knows less about cryptocurrencies but will just want to use their celeb personality to make money, now she is paying more than she collected for the hype  Grin and people will invest in the project just cos she promoted it. A good lesson for her I must say.
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin Survive A Nuclear War? on: October 21, 2022, 01:50:37 PM
If humans can't survive then how Bitcoin would survive? We all know what would happen if suddenly we face nuclear war. Everything will be collapsed and the world economy wouldn't survive. The same will happen for Bitcoin. People should be alive and survive first before anything else. We will need a lot of cash or fiat in case of nuclear war. So everyone will start the sale definitely to survive their life. We have to be ready to see Bitcoin collapse as well. No other option except to saving humans.
Agreed. I don't really understand why the only focus was just on Bitcoin when we will be having a total world collapse. In a time of nuclear war, Bitcoin wouldn't be the first thing that will come to your mind when half or more of the population of the world would have died. We have seen what the effect of the Russian/Ukraine war is even doing on some aspects of the Worlds Economy. However, I do also agree that accessing the network even by the world's survival might be limited due to the level of physical equipment destruction, it will take decades again, and probably more than half the Bitcoin mined would be lost too.
129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Throwback: Bitcoin was $64k today, a year ago. on: October 21, 2022, 06:43:24 AM
Anytime the price of an asset or commodity shoots straight up vertical producing 10x+ returns, it's a good time to sell.

Let this be a lesson to anyone new to crypto, not to get greedy.

You can say that bitcoin was 10x return a year back and it was a good time to sell. But do you remember when bitcoin was at 69,000$, the whole media, everyone was shouting for 100K bitcoin? At that point, it was hard to sell when everyone was anticipating 100K.

You can call this greediness, but these whales make such an environment that a common man like us never sells and keep holding.

You are both right in different ways, I would say as from 60k and above was a good time to sell but @virasog pointed out, with such prediction from whales, it was difficult for many investors to make that move to sell. I believe this does serve as a lesson in the sense that every investor should have a goal and a target point so that they don't get confused when the price surpass their target and keeps going. It is a tough but necessary decision to be made.
Rightly so. We cannot continue to follow the hype without having our own target in this cryptocurrency market. We all invested at different times and ought to be looking at different profit-taking points however if we feel we want to continue HODLing through the continuous Bears and Bull market without selling, then those are the Diamond Hands  Cool but Bitcoin that we have come to know will surly rally back but only a matter of time.

130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Trustwallet Safe? on: October 21, 2022, 06:17:45 AM
Trust wallet is safe if you keep the recovery seed offline and if you stay away from airdrops and too good to be true offers on the web, avoid clicking links that you get through emails too, they aren't safe, I haven't heard about hacks or loss of fund on trust wallet but still one needs to be extra careful.
Right, the problem is so many newbies are not even learning from their past experience. These newbies are blatantly connecting their wallet to the any of dapps which was increasing the chance for them to be scammed.
I just tell you about the truth if trust wallet was safe but the people itself who have been making it become unsafe
Agreed. We have seen people complaining about other wallets too which means that they mostly connect their wallets to every form of giveaway site they see. People should be wise enough now to stay away from all foreign links like that or better still have a separate wallet for your crypto adventure if you really feel the need to. I believe trust wallet is safe too, I use it and not having any issues with it as long as you follow the rule of safe gauding your wallet.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why ETH price keeps decreasing? on: October 21, 2022, 06:11:06 AM
Hi everyone. I'd like to get your take on this since I'm not really sure what am I missing here.

Although one would anticipate that the price of ETH should increase given that the supply has decreased by over 5,500 since last Saturday, for some reason, ETH prices haven't exactly seen the coresponding price boost despite lowered supply.

Why hasn't this had a beneficial effect on the price of ETH?

https://tokenist.com/ethereum-turns-deflationary-but-drops-7-as-market-stays-uncertain/

I don't think even with that, the Ethereum price will suddenly go against the market trend. The general market sentiment is in a bear trajectory now and the Ethereum price will follow the same pattern.

It pumped last month because of the merge and now it's hovering because the momentum has been moved to other assets in my opinion and of course not just ETH not moving so well, bitcoin as well. It's just matter time that we see ETH to recover again hence we are still in bear market season. So it's expected for the price to remain stable, for now.

Are you saying that Eth merge was the reason the general market pumped a bit last month taking BTC and other major Alts along with it?
Just look at the price chart between July 12, to Aug 16 2022 which I believe you are referring to, the effect of the ETh marge couldn't have affected every major crypto in that same time period upward before it dropped again. I still say it was the general market trend and not the marge effect but I think the ETH price might have a good boost when the market trend changes, (Next Bull market.)

132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Downfall still possible? on: October 20, 2022, 06:22:34 PM
Some very good coins out there have lost 95% of their value already is it possible to see more down fall? I'm throwing this to those that are present in last bear market, marketcap and volume is over millions of dollars and price is 95% down?  Shocked :I downfall still possible? For example Metahero.
This is the general market trend now, all cryptocurrencies are bleeding and have lost about -80% or more from their last ATH price so most likely the market might still fall some more but if you really want to invest now, I would most likely invest in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB as I believe these would be or can survive any low the market might go but I might want to still monitor the market trend before investing especially in other Alts.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mnemonic is no longer safe? on: October 20, 2022, 11:41:32 AM
as far as i use wallet mnemonic though no hacking happened. but the vigilance and care of the wallet must really be considered. What I do is often change the wallet if the wallet is used for airdrop transactions because it is so easy for hackers to get our wallet data by sending dusting tokens. but without the information experienced by a friend, I think it is an unnatural thing. did he make a mistake he wasn't aware of?
This is why it is advisable to use a different wallet for Airdrops if you are the type that participates in airdrops however, I too don't think Mnemonic is that easy to break if you did not place them carelessly. Safeguarding your login information can not be overemphasized and connecting your wallet to every site is not advisable too, I would normally write down all my Info in different Dairies and have soft copies of them too, and these devices I never connect to the internet.
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would the world be if Bitcoin wasn't created on: October 20, 2022, 11:25:52 AM
what do you think would have been situation if Bitcoin was not created
In human civilization before knowing the means of payment, barter or exchange of goods into a means of payment of a transaction. Because the barter system often had problems, humans began to create commodity money. The history of money entered a new chapter after King Lydia Alyattes of Turkey minted the first official coins.

According to my understanding of your question that I quoted above, if King Lydia Alyattes had not minted the first coins at that time, "Maybe" until now we are still using the barter system. IMO

The cycle of updating the currency system continues to occur as technology develops, now we are in the Bitcoin era. Along the way, the development of Bitcoin has not always been smooth. In addition to price fluctuations, fraud and theft have also colored Bitcoin's long history. As happened in January 2014, (Mt.Gox) the largest Bitcoin exchange platform in the world at that time was suddenly hacked and declared bankrupt.

The world is still turning, humans can still continue to live even though Bitcoin does not exist. I am so grateful to be able to live in an age where Bitcoin is booming, my respect is to Satoshi Nakamoto who created Bitcoin.

Facts and this is the same stance I believe too. We definitely wouldn't have known what that world would be like cos we didn't experience it so, we would have still been stuck in our old financial was of investment and just trying to make do with what we had but thank God for Satoshi Nakamoto for this GREAT innovation which is changing most peoples life, me included.
135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good News: Bitcoin Achieves Guinness World Record Titles on: October 20, 2022, 10:00:56 AM
It's a good day for bitcoin today. Each bitcoin win should be celebrated because it was a victory against naysayers, haters, and those who wants bitcoin to die. Today, Guinness World Records have added Bitcoin and other blockchain events in its latest record book under a brand-new category called “Cryptomania". Bitcoin was included in the 2023 edition as the most valuable crypto with a market capitalization of $816.69 billion as well as being recognised for being the world’s first decentralised cryptocurrency after it launched in early 2009. CoinMarketCap reports that, Bitcoin’s market cap stood at $372,316,153,554. In addition, El Salvador also features in the book as the “first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender” last year.  Nothing can stop bitcoin now

Source
Good news indeed and well deserved too and even with all this great approvement and accreditations, we would still have people doubting whether Bitcoin is something you should get involved in.
As regards El Salvador, we have always said that was a good move by the president too even though it all seems like Bitcoin price has been taking a hit after their adoption, well, now also recognized and the first to do so. 13 years is still very early for Bitcoin and I believe that there will be a big adoption in future.
136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Repeat History ? on: October 20, 2022, 09:42:53 AM
The cycling does not actually have that effects on the bitcoin price anymore lot of prediction about bitcoin that it could gets to what people  don't even think of, yet today bitcoin couldn't go that much lower as they thought it should be. To me what I understood and taking note of is that there is always much variation in every year but the turning point doesn't really takes action between length of 4 years rather 2 to 3 years before the next bitcoin halving. So if you may ask me I will suggest you should take your time and do your analysis careful.
Regardless it will still fall into or between the 4 years range. Looking at this Bitcoin Rainbow Chart, it seems like there is one major ATH in that 4-year circle and maybe some other peaks too, and from this same chart, It does seem like Bitcoin is at the bottom or close because looking at the next image of trade view chart,

We are kind of trading along the long-time support of the last ATH and possibly if that happens to be broken like some other people believed Bitcoin will, then we are possibly looking at the Red bottom line which is around $12k-$11k which is marked with the brown line Bitcoin Rainbow Chart but do we think we could have that much deflection from within the chart down that level?
So, the big question is, can Bitcoin break the normal 4-year circle, or are we seeing another ATH before the next Halving, I think this might not happen until after the Halving
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: And officially worst year for investors on: October 19, 2022, 08:11:02 PM
2022 is going to be the worst year for crypto investors. Any thoughts guys?
For anybody that has been investing in Cryptocurrencies for some time now would understand that this is the natural circle the market goes through every once in a while and if you truly understands the market, you would know that there are people also making money through this bear market because we don't only have the spot traders in the system but the futures traders too. So, the effect of a bear market is subjective even though we know the general price goes down but many sees it as an accumulation stage while others sees it as another opotunity to make other profits too trading the market downwards. So it might not be an "officially worst year for investors" as you think.
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi network mining on: October 19, 2022, 09:33:03 AM
Lately it seems that Pi network is growing day by day.  Who can touch Bitcoin on the Pi network?  Many say that the Pi Network will overtake Bitcoin.  I had a bit of a laugh when I heard about the Bitcoin leak.  Bitcoin is the number one coin in cryptocurrency.  I don't think comparing any coin to Bitcoin is anything but silly.  But what is your opinion?  If anyone has an idea about pi network, please let me know.
Yeah, Pi Network is out there and is coming up even though some people think it is a scam project but I don't for now until it is. Most other projects outside Bitcoin have in one way or another been seen as a lesser projects even if I don't want to use the word SCAM. Also, we know how every other coin/token and even Exchange that do KYC seem as not good but are they actually not good because they do KYC? However, I don't see Pi Network passing Bitcoin in any way.
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Not all new Projects are bad, So take the Risk on: October 19, 2022, 08:45:47 AM
I came across a post where an advise was ditch out
for newbies like myself not to get involved in new projects,
due to the risk that follows.

But with all honestly, Some project with 3 to 7 months old have one time becomes Scam, Good  example is OKS CHAIN. The project was over 2 years old, yet end up being scam, as the CEO and other dev cart away with so much money. And abandoned the project.

My experience tells me that everything involves around crypto project, Is about risk, except for the president of them all ( Bitcoin ), The vice ( Ethereum ) and the child ( Binance ). Investing in any of these 3 gives risk free system. As they say experience is the best teacher in life.

So i strongly disagreed with the term of " do not invest in a brand new project " to be risk free. A lot of new project has yielded x50
of my investment to me most of the time, What i usually do, Once they're up, i take off with my investment and interest. This is my experiences.
And i strongly believes by doing this, Will yield high success to everyone and also helps you to minimize the risk of lossing all your funds.
Even though I don't really like investing in just about any new project but this as you also claim, investing in new projects does not mean they are all scams and cannot grow, Bitcoin was once a new project and many people didn't believe in iit then and some people still don't believe in it now even with all it has achieved.
However, always take time to do the due diligence of checking out the project and all that needs to be done before investing, and don't forget to take profit once it happens.
140  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin Exchange With Unlimited SWIFT Withdrawal on: October 19, 2022, 08:33:13 AM
Is there a reliable Bitcoin exchange with unlimited withdrawals via SWIFT bank transfer?
Grin OP is trying to bring down the price of Bitcoin or is this just for discussion and knowledge purposes? thinking about it now though, how do millionaires/Billioniers like Michael Saylor, Elon Musk, and the likes buy their many Bitcoins? through the exchange like the rest of us?

there is 2 mln $ daily withdrawal limit after standard KYC and 100 mln $ per transaction and unlimited per account per day on binance after compliting advanced KYC with "Source of Wealth Declaration". You wan't get any better than that if you are looking for reliable exchange - unilimited per day limited to 100 mln $ per transaction.

From all I have read thus far, I think this is the best option for OP in terms of what you are looking for, $100mil at the current price is about 5200+BTC  you have to dump to withdraw that kind of amount  Shocked
