541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Risk in Crypto Assets Portfolio on: February 12, 2022, 05:29:18 PM
Tore is no prediction work in the Crypto price. And it is risk that your crypto asset portfolio will be low and can be high. If your asset will be increased then it is good but if your asset will be decreased then you will be in loss.
Not necessarily, as long as you are not trading futures market but do mostly spot trading, even if the market dips all you need do is have that patience which is also necessary for trading or investing cos there will always be a bounce-back of the market. So even when your portfolio is down and you know you have invested in the right projects just HODL.
542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Be a wise investor on: February 12, 2022, 08:18:53 AM
Be smart and always take advantage of any project that brings you profit, do not stare at your wallet and say "I'm going to be rich in 3 years later," this is a 1 percent out of 100 percent chance that it will ever happen, remember, being rich isn't the most important part of our lives but living is, and remember, being rich isn't the most important part of our lives but living is.

Those who want to get rich quick get out of the market very quickly without any achievement. Investing in a project and holding it for three years is definitely risky if you can't do proper research. On the other hand, if you can invest in a promising project then there is definitely a chance to get rich. If you compare the current market with the last three years, you will get an idea of how much opportunity there was to gain during this time. So in many cases the long hold turns out to be the right decision.
I agree with your view which I too believe should be the right mentality towards cryptocurrency investments. Just look at most of the crypto projects from back before the 2017 ATH, how many of them are still even in the top 50 MC now? so researching and Investing in the right projects for the appropriate time frame should be key even though in the end it is about profits.
543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING! ETH 2.0 is no more!!! on: February 12, 2022, 07:34:06 AM
It looks like our hopes for ETH 2.0 is no more! They’re gonna rebrand it instead as consensus layer.

Source: https://decrypt.co/91149/ethereum-foundation-kills-eth-2-consensus-layer-rebrand

What’s your opinion about this guys? You think this is a good decision by Vitalik Buterin? I know that there will be mixed opinions about this decision, so I wanna hear it from you guys. Thanks!

IMO, I think it is up to everyone in the community because in myself I believe Ethereum is already great even before! until it was changed when the expensive gas problem has become the center of controversy and problem in the Platform. I don't care about those delayed and blah blah about the Eth. 2.0 development all I care about is sustainable, smooth, and much cheaper transaction fees.
Well exactly, the Eth transaction fee has been the bane of the whole issue, I don't believe anyone had that much of a problem with the Ethereum network until this crazy transaction fees thing, and the hope was with ETh 2.0, transactions fees will be corrected at least to a reasonable level. Whether it is rebranded or not, the plight of the investors is with the transaction fees.
544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto-Currency in Africa on: February 12, 2022, 07:22:26 AM
***

Investment in Bitcoin is the only answer on how the African Nation can approach this. Bitcoin has been giving positive returns in the last 10 years, mention one thing the government has invested in that has been giving a positive returns in the last 10 years, nothing instead they keep printing fiats and devaluing our local currency. Our leaders needs to understand how El Salvador took advantage of the currency by making it a national currency. If this is done in Africa country, it'll draw the attention of crypto related projects to the nations.

Africans have to stop fighting this innovation and accept it. Make it the nations investment vehicle and hold as much Bitcoin as possible. Among the top countries holding Bitcoin either as investment or from seizure, I don't think there's any African on the list. Use Bitcoin as an investment vehicle and the country will be receiving positive ROI that they can use the funds for building institutes and infrastructure for creating job for their citizens.

Bros you hit the nail on the head, I believe even our Government knows this. They all, (from the Federal to State Governments) have financial advisers that can see this, or is it just us that sees it? of cause not but like we have all pointed out, it is the level of corruption that is keeping the country and the continent in general, back where it still is now.
545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is A Better Option Than Fiat Money? on: February 12, 2022, 07:02:16 AM
it is good for investing but not for transacting, because the price is not fixed so we as owners can feel a loss if bitcoin is in a period of correction,
and I'm not sure all countries accept the existence of bitcoin cs,  into their government, because fiat is easy to regulate even though it always results in inflation
I do agree with you on that and not only during market correction but because of that volatility when you spend Bitcoin on depreciating assets, it seems like you have waisted that amount of Bitcoin cos I remember a post some week ago about some investors buying an iPhone with Bitcoin and even when most think it was good news that Bitcoin was been accepted in many retail shops now but most believed that asset has a depreciating value compared to Bitcoin so, Fiat is still good in terms of daily transactions while I do appreciate my Bitcoin more as an Investment.
546  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull Run in Bitcoin on: February 11, 2022, 04:54:48 PM
Crypto market is very unpredictable mate so don't expect the history of every coin in the market will repeat in any significant year because there's a different season every year.. Perhaps the structure can tell in the graph but remember there's alot of fake outs in this kind of market so don't expect too much sometimes..

Even so, we must agree that there are levels that we do believe that Bitcoins price not to fall back to and I must agree that considering the nature of the market and the level of investment when compared to the years before now, I would say that years of Bear market seems unlikely plus from a broader chat view, Bitcoin has truly been in a Bull run even with all the corrections.
547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia and central Bank agreed to legalize cryptocurrency as a form of currency on: February 10, 2022, 04:31:39 PM
Russia is a funny country when it comes to policies.
Here's some retrospection for those who don't remember or weren't here in 2017-19

Oct 10, 2017
Putin Condemns Bitcoin, Calls for Russian Ban of Digital Currencies
https://cointelegraph.com/news/putin-condemns-bitcoin-calls-for-russian-ban-of-digital-currencies

President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday crypto-currencies were risky and used for crime, as Russia’s central bank said it would block websites selling bitcoin and its rivals - a change of tone from a month-old promise to legalize the market.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-russia-cenbank-bitcoin/russia-turns-cold-on-crypto-currencies-idINKBN1CF0RF

Jun 10, 2019
The Russian State Duma is considering imposing administrative responsibility for mining cryptocurrencies.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/russian-parliament-considers-imposing-fines-on-crypto-mining-by-end-of-june

First they banned it in 2014, then tried to ban it again in 2017 but the bill did not pass, they tried to launch their own centralized crypto but ultimately didn't, then they tried to ban mining, now they're trying to legalize it.... It seems that if you live in Russia you never know what the day will bring. You may be operating a legal business one year, the next year they shut you down and put you in jail, and a year later they let you go because they changed their minds. Grin

Well, it could be that they have access and reaccess the conditions and realize that it would be better for the country to legalize the trading of Cryptocurrencies. I was thinking as you mentioned if it was Banned in 2014 how come they try to Ban it again in 2017? I guess they must have analyzed the effect of Banning and having a regulated market and found the latter better cause hence this decision
"By contrast, the government’s blueprint released Tuesday says cryptocurrency purchases in Russia may take place, but only through locally registered and licensed companies so that users are fully verified and information about their transactions can be made available to government agencies."

548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your reason for buying altcoins? on: February 10, 2022, 10:36:03 AM
For something new and instant savings with altcoins, a fairly easy way to put some unused assets into altcoins is the right way.  We can reap this if we put it in the right market in order to get the accumulated profit.
Altcoin selection also needs to be considered because not all Altcoins can have the same potential and can have the same price movement in the market, so it's not just arbitrary in choosing it too, and for savings issues and the like, I think it's more to each individual's needs.
Exactly, I believe even though I don't know if there are Altcoins that can do what Bitcoin has done from its creation till now in terms of percentage gains, I do however believe that there are good Alts you can invest in that can still make you good profits from staking to launchpads
549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How good is staking coins? on: February 10, 2022, 10:02:21 AM
I'm sure there are a lot of you who are staking coins. I have a question for you guys: I have a friend who built a doge coin mining farm in order to get some coins and stake them, but I'm not sure how good staking is. How much money do you make from staking each month? People don't seem to be talking about their staking rewards, but miners seem to be...... Wink
Yeah of cause you cannot compare mining with staking because mining costs way more to set up and pays more but staking is more of HODLing the crypto assets that you have in other to get some passive income from them instead of just HODL them in your wallet. Staking is not as Profitable as mining but you still good for holding stakable coins/tokens.
550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Wallet Hacking through Telegram on: February 10, 2022, 09:34:19 AM
Recently i was reading an article where Hackers target crypto wallets through Telegram using Echelon malware is explained.
I have followed the instructions and disabled the Automatic download of media option in telegram. But i fear that many people will keep the auto download option enable because of unaware of this threat.
I wonder how this virus will work and how can they reach to our wallets / exchanges?

I have always thought that having a different device for you wallet authentications is always best this way we can keep all of our login details away from the our other social media devices. I however understand that it is really difficult to get away from all this scammers trying everything possible to get access to crypto wallets.
551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $3.6 billion in Bitcoin seized from Crocodile of Wall Street on: February 09, 2022, 07:47:11 AM
So they are just in connections with the hackers and they are in charge of making the money clean and not traceable, right?

Yes, most likely this is the case here, we are not sure how they know the hackers, maybe the hackers contacted them or what. But it's clear that the DOJ has trace the trail of the stolen Bitfinex hacked and identify it to Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan.

And based on the images and their lifestyles, they are living big and obviously you have to question where all the wealth is coming.

Old police work I think. When there is a big heist and someone suddenly living a high life, arise suspicions. People around them sure wonder where they get thier money and if they think like they can buy just about anything and brags about it on social media being a croc on wall street, it's odd. Normally they are sheep and wolves.  Grin

The DOJ didn't mention how they are connected to the hackers so this is still a classified doc?  The term "Alleged" still makes them not guilty yet.
I don't really understand why most of these people that come to the crazy amount of wealth illegally usually display this stuff on social media like they legitimately got them and that the law will not catch up with them. I hope this "Allegedly" will eventually be confirmed as true and their connections will be established so that they can face the result of their actions from the pain they put others through.

552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is better: Ethereum or the Binance Smart Chain? on: February 08, 2022, 10:48:21 AM
Which is a better platform? Ethereum or the Binance Smart Chain? Please explain why.
If you are asking about the Networks I guess we all know as a fact now that it is much cheaper to transact on Binance smart chain BSC than ETH just because of the gas fee. Until this gas issue with the Ethereum network, I believe everything was ok just as with the BSC but the high ETH transaction fee has really gotten out of hand.
553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is difference between HODL and staking? on: February 08, 2022, 10:28:41 AM
hii all
my question is what is difference between HODL and staking
I see not big differences between both of methods, But staking means you have to transfer your coins for any staking platform or third party so it might be risky because you have no control with your money. On the other hand in case of Hodl you can buy a coin and if you want to store it for short term or long term, And can withdraw anytime but for staking you have to wait for a certain time as like one weeks or 12 weeks with interest.
It doesn't necessarily mean that in all staking you have to wait for some time before you can unstake your coins/tokens. On some platforms, you can have access to flexible staking where you can unstake anytime you want and there is also the fixed time staking which I believe you are talking about. Either way, both are good ways to hodl your cryptocurrencies but staking gives you passive income.
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: eTH gas trouble on: February 08, 2022, 10:19:22 AM
Is this a new one? Is there any link you could provide for us to check? There have been many platforms that bridges Ethereum and layer 2 networks or other chains but they are still not spared from the fees on their first transfer.

...If this happens would it matter for ETH Devs to still do anything about the high gas fee?
Yes it does since many people still prefer transferring funds without using third party apps or platforms.
Plus the Devs understands that they will want the users back so I don't think because there is a system where people can bridge from Ethe Network to other Networks will make the Eth Devs give up on finding a solution to the gas issues except they feel those people are no longer needed which I doubt.
555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lies and critics about bitcoins on: February 08, 2022, 09:18:40 AM
As you said, these are just critics that will probably never see and say anything good about Bitcoin and besides the guy is a clown, how do you want to compare 2 things and you are only looking at the shortest time frame as your judgment for almost 13 years trade.

Look at the write-up on his claim

So let's see how both have performed in the same time frame too since Bitcoin was found, the Blackline is Bitcoin and the yellow line is Gold, can he even compare the two? at present, Bitcoin is about +54million % above gold since Genesis.

Government change, just cos one government doesn't approve of Bitcoin doesn't mean this is how all other incoming Governments will feel about the same thing plus china cannot be a representative of every Government.

556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hypothetically keeping your bitcoin when you die? on: February 08, 2022, 08:36:16 AM
Grin Grin Grin Seems like someone has been watching too many movies. There is no freezing of yourself and I believe planning on leaving some Bitcoin Inheritance for the kids is a Great Idea, besides, why are we working this hard if not for the family? and of cause with the way the Bitcoin price is going, years from now, the price will be pretty much but don't know about 100 years though.
557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Celebrities Embracing bitcoin because of Divorce? on: February 08, 2022, 08:29:29 AM

What do you think about this?

It is not entirely true that celebrities are saving bitcoin for fear of divorce, but they may buy coins to cover the cost of divorce or buy bitcoin with the money they receive from their husbands after divorce.

But that's right, all celebrities want to be in trend and Bitcoin is a trending topic or currency system.

On the other hand, the lifestyle of celebrities is very expensive and they need a lot of money to maintain this costly lifestyle and to meet that need, cryptocurrency or bitcoin is now a very suitable investment medium. So, they invest in Bitcoin in order to make more profit in a short time.
I agree too that, that might not be the main reason celebrities are getting into Bitcoin and besides, most of them have really come out publicly to confirm they have invested in some cryptocurrencies and that doesn't sound like they trying to hide anything. We know this is the trend now, anyone that understands knows investing in crypto is the best thing to do now hence celeb adoption too.
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to reinvest into Altcoins? on: February 07, 2022, 11:38:45 AM
Bitcoin has made good progress in last two days, we all know that altcoins will follow the same path and some Altcoins like Binance have already started to surge so I feel this would be the right moment to invest into Altcoins like ADA, Solana and ICP which are ready to explode any moments, what's your take on this? Things will be in our favour of we choose the altcoin's wisely and better to invest now rather doing r when it reaches the peak.

But my only worry is what if it's one more bulltrap.
As the saying goes, "Be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful" I however understand why you would want to be fearful whether the market might go down some more but for me when you think of INVESTMENT for a longer time, I believe that now is a good time to invest as long as you are choosing the right projects, BNB along with some are my long time Alts investments.
559  Economy / Speculation / Re: How come BTC is not at least $75,000 yet? on: February 07, 2022, 10:52:08 AM
The USD is losing value. The EUR is losing value. All national coins are inflationary, energy prices are through the roof and still BTC is only $36,500! People should buy BTC like crazy, this is something I don't understand, they keep using the crappy FIAT instead. FIAT will all make you poor! Don't come crying here after when BTC hits $100K, but FIAT is the worst investment someone can make these days. BTC is still cheap as peanuts considering its potential, too bad people don't see it, have fun staying poor and keep making those bankers rich. Unbelievable.
I want to believe more than 50% of the investors in here didn't feel the same way they feel now about Bitcoin like 10 years ago. Adoption might be slow even from areas you think should be quick i.e the educated folks but we see people today still not believing in Bitcoin investment because most are too scared to change and a bit more skeptical about what they cant hold regardless of its value.
560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: can it stole my metmaask funds (urgent) on: February 07, 2022, 10:34:26 AM
I clicked conenct wallet there:

https://www.grimacebsc.com/

through meta mask.

can it be stolen now?

Yes if the website you post is a scam website since you already connect your wallet to there smart contract that will give them access to your metamask account including your privatekey. We didn't know exactly how they right the code but if you are really convinced that te website is shady, Transfer already all your funds out of your metamask account because your wallet is already compromised the moment you connect and allow them to gain access. That's why it's very important to connect only your wallet on trusted website and avoid connecting on new website that asking it.

EDIT:

I check the website and it seems they didn't ask you to connect your wallet. I think you click the poocoin portal that requires you to connect wallet in ale to buy. Poocoin is not a scam website but I can't vouch about https://www.grimacebsc.com/ reputation.

Enquiring more on Metamask, after you connect your Metamask wallet to a site and when you leave the site and disconnect your wallet from the site on your Metamask wallet, will that still give access to the site afterward? cos I believe after disconnecting the wallet and you go back to the site again you have to reconnect your MM wallet which seems that the site was no longer connected to your wallet.
Anyways, I believe we should still be careful which sites we connect our wallets to.
