501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto prices are starting to strengthen again on: February 28, 2022, 11:59:07 AM
Honestly, I don't see this yet. I understand that the market made  a bit of move some days back but if we always take time to k=look at the market from a wider view, like zoom out we would see that there is a point that needs to be cleared for it to gain momentum upward again or at least for the short term and I believe that around $40k price is important
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH and BTC deserves the biggest space in our crypto portfolio on: February 28, 2022, 11:52:26 AM
It looks like selling your crypto for money when they are profitable is more safer than holding them for long, my point is only very few coins are worth holding for many years, if you still doubt about this go on coinmarketcap and look at most coins that came into this world in 2018 many of them have no volume again, the shocking one to me is gowithmi, a project that my elder brother praised so much at the time but today it's volume is not up to 50k, many projects will face same fate, be smart
You are definitely right. There are many projects I traded back in 2017-2018 and did pretty well back then, especially the 2017 bull market and I would have thought that these projects will continue to do good into the future but this wasn't the case, most of them are long dead or almost forgotten with low volumes. I strongly believe for long-term investment, Bitcoin and Ethereum have proven to be the best choice.
503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia cut off from Swift is fantastic opportunity for bitcoin on: February 26, 2022, 04:19:46 PM
Russia has been working on legalizing bitcoin for the last couple of weeks.
Which still seems weird to me. Why would a nation, whose regime isn't known for seeking freedom, want to formalize Bitcoin... A currency known for decentralizing the economy. They have full control over their citizens via the banking system, I wonder what are their plans.

I'll hold my breath for this.
This invasion of Ukrain was not a plan from yesterday so it makes sense when the Russia Government didn't go full scale on banning Bitcoin and was looking at how to regulate its mining and maybe possible adoption because they know all these sanctions will follow the action they are about to take which we are seeing now and Bitcoin is an alternative.
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bounty Campaign a Sustainable way to grow your Crypto Community? on: February 25, 2022, 09:31:59 AM
No doubtful, bounty campaigns draws a ton of attention to your community and enlighten potential investors about your project. But at the long run, is this development sustainable? Is it reliable enough to grow your project?
Bounty campaign is just one aspect for Developers to draw attention to their projects but certainly not the only avenue I believe. Of cause, they understand that some investors do have access to knowing your projects via all these various platforms used for Bounties promotion hence the constant creation of Bounties for new projects via such channels which I believe have been very helpful.
505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and international conflict on: February 25, 2022, 08:59:53 AM

Why is bitcoin losing value at a time of conflict? Isn't it intended to do the opposite?
[/color]

What I believe:

It depends on your perspective, whether short- or long-term.
How do you feel about this?

I understand what you are saying but people need fiat to pump into Bitcoin investment for that to happen and I see people saying that the Russia/Ukrian war is affecting Bitcoin but is this really the case?
I just wanted to check that highlighted question, is it really this present conflict that is affecting the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, or is Bitcoins price going along the normal TA determined price.

I wanted to put this here first so that we can comprehend it from a wider perspective

but my focus is zooming in on a couple of days here, the green circle and arrow marked price still look like it is still trading along the resistance dotted redline around $39k+.

The market has been having little flash dips since before the war started and it is not different from what we saw with the Bitcoin price within the past few days. Not unless there is something else I missed I would say, Bitcoin is just having its normal market pattern and not under the influence of this Russia/Ukraine crisis.

506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin 🐕‍🦺 1$ possible in 2022 or not? on: February 24, 2022, 09:45:05 AM
When Dogecoin lounch, Dogecoin was a common cryptocurrency But over the trailing 14-month stretch, Dogecoin has rallied approximately 5,000%. And it was up considerably more when it hit its all-time high of nearly $0.74 per coin in May 2021.

With a veritable mountain of support behind Dogecoin, enthusiasts and holders believe it could hit $1 per token.

In terms of catalysts, there's probably none bigger than having the world's richest person in your corner. Tesla CEO Elon Musk owns only three cryptocurrencies. One of those happens to be Dogecoin. Musk is no stranger to promoting Dogecoin on social media platforms like Twitter, or posting obscure memes implying that Shiba Inu dogs are "going to the moon." what do you think about dogecoin?

Are you saying that Dogecoin is now better than being that same common cryptocurrency? I keep asking this question, what has Dogecoin has to offer apart from the Hype it is getting from Elon Musk? what do you think will really propel the coin to $1?
We understand that Elon Musk keeps trying to promote Dogecoin through Tesla but has this had any impact further on the price of Dogecoin?
Don't over-dream it.
507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: World War III & Bitcoin on: February 24, 2022, 09:31:29 AM
I said US (or anyone else for that matter) is never going to get involved in this war to lead to WWIII (the title of this topic). You think US is going to risk world wide Nuclear Armageddon for Ukraine?

I have responded similarly in a thread in the politics section.

I hope that now the forum will not be full of threads with the title WWIII.

No, I don't think they are going to be so stupid as to start dropping atomic bombs because of the conflict in Ukraine. At most we could have the beginning of another cold war but these are different times.
I don't believe like you that this might lead to an Atomic bomb war Grin and so is the OP I presume since I didn't see a mention of that, however, the question remains, are they at war? yes even though I also don't believe that Ukrain wanted this because President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before now has continued to say they were not going to be provoked to react even though they will defend themself.
Whether the number of sanctions been issued will deter Russia from the step it started will be seen in weeks/months to come.
508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price goes down as Russia begins Ukraine invasion on: February 24, 2022, 09:07:30 AM
Why are we focusing only on bitcoin as the whole market is down and not only crypto but share market has also tumbled a lot due to situation getting worse between Russia and Ukraine. The air strikes and Russian invasion have started a series of crash in prices and it will go on for some time until it's all over.So the best we can do is just hold the position in market at the time and wait long term.
I believe you would know that the platform is Bitcointalk hence no surprise that the focus will be mostly on Bitcoin even though we still view other financial sectors. Even though we think the Russia/Ukrian issue is affecting the cryptocurrency market, we must also realize that looking at the Bitcoin price chart from 9 Nov 2021 till now, we have mostly seen a downtrend but of cause, some traders will be shaken by such kind of news but I hope this doesn't stay for long.
509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin War on: February 23, 2022, 05:23:49 PM
Authoritarian governments would very certainly fight to maintain their use of money as a control device.

Do you anticipate a future in which there is a large-scale battle between pro-and anti-Bitcoin nations?

I don't believe that's a very likely scenario, but it's a concept I've had, and I'd want to hear your thoughts on it.

Thanks!

It is possible if somehow Bitcoin's user case  goes beyond or compared to oil, as this natural resource is somehow the start of every war in some countries. If we see through there is no possible reason. Maybe if Bitcoin is link to a resource which is on demand in every country, and maybe if those countries who mange to secure the resource wouldn't accept any payment aside from Bitcoin, then it could mean war.

Right there, you know you cannot even compare Bitcoin to oil in this sense. Oil is a physical natural resource of a country that has it but is Bitcoin a natural resource in any country? No one country is the owner of Bitcoin so why would you even think that no matter how Bitcoin eventually grows that countries can go to war for it? So when a country invades others cos of Bitcoin, they go and steal their mining rigs or confiscate their wallets Grin
510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Only Small % Of Tokens/Coins Survive on: February 23, 2022, 04:39:45 PM
Few years ago, someone quoted me that in few years from now none of coins/tokens that you are currently drooling over will exist.

I was overconfident, shrugged off saying - let's see, and copied the link to his comment, just so I could backfire later.

I forgot where I copied it, likely reduced to ashes because of incident. Used to use some writing app without backup.

Now, fast forward today, was in mood of reminiscence. Checked transfers on my addresses (~5 yr history), 99% of coins were abandoned. The coins which once I thought were genuine, were to last long - no longer existed.

Now, rest 1% which still existed, one of them was Ethlend, I didn't even know I took part in it until checked history. It's now rebranded to Aave and is currently trading around $140, ATH being $661.

If you are curious, received 87 tokens from bounty. Sold 'em for few dollars on etherdelta. What difference did those few $ make? Why am I like this?

Then there was another project named, Sandblock - they went radio silence when crypto winter 2018 arrived, I lost hope, everyone lost hope and now in 2022 they rebrand and bam, project revived.

Conclusion: Most coins/tokens don't survive and you likely won't know which will and which will not.

Do you agree? Have similar experiences? Would you like to share?

Of course this is right.  Crypto is driven by fads and greed.  As soon as bear markets come all of these projects literally vanish because there is no need for them and no one isaking money trading them.  I'd steer clear of most any new coin and just wait a couple market cycles to see what it does.  If it survives you might have something worth putting your money into.  Chasing greed leaves most broke.
You are also right. I look at my wallet from back in 2017 and still have a lot of dead projects there just hanging in the wallet of cause back in 2017, most of the projects were mostly just to collect investors' funds, and just a few still been traded even though there is no significant progress in the project.

Well for me, this doesn't mean you cannot invest in new projects but I don't see them as a choice for long-term investment rather for a midterm, this way you don't end up holding a bag of dead coin/tokens.

511  Economy / Speculation / Re: The long term way is down on: February 23, 2022, 04:23:33 PM
I'm not confused that BTC will reach a new ATH this year anymore since we entered 2022 every recoveries are not strong, on the long run the way is always down, what do you think? I'm i wrong or right?

I can't really comprehend your statements but there is one thing for sure that BTC will always get to new ATH. Now talking of other recoveries yes, they all dependent of BTC driving market this means if it turns to bullish all other assets follows the directions as well. always keep one thing in mind that market is being driving by information.
I believe OP was trying to be "CONVINCED" that there might not be a new ATH for Bitcoin and considering what you just said about the Bitcoin market being moved by information, It is highly likely that there might be BULLISH news for Bitcoin to also change the market trend so we can't really conclude that because the market is in a downtrend means that's going to be the trend for 2022.
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The most reliable coin to invest in is Bitcoin. on: February 22, 2022, 08:59:02 AM
. Bitcoin is the first digital asset that pioneered the cryptocurrency ecosystem so that the popularity of bitcoin will always be like a living legend,
Bitcoin isn't really the first cryptocurrency,  before Bitcoin we have had b-money and Digicash although both failed because the were more centralized and was very open to government manipulation. The byzantine General problem which Satoshi was able to tackle is actually what  gave Bitcoin it's edge. Bitcoin is the first crypto currency that survived this Long and not the first created or developed and reasons been that it was devoid of central authorities been the middle man other rather the network is open to volunteer who serve as miner that make validation and confirmation of transaction and also adding transaction using append only into the Blockchain ledger
I wouldn't really say that both were active "currencies" like what Bitcoin is today because, for Digicash, "transactions were unique in that they were anonymous due to a number of cryptographic protocols developed by its founder." declared bankruptcy in 1998 so we can agree on centralization but,
b-money , it was one of the early, proposed cryptocurrencies but was never officially launched so we can't really say it was centralized and had every similarity with what Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have today. Could it be that Wei Dai it then developer understood where that will lead and eventually didn't want to go further with it? and why did eventually some anonymous Satoshi came with the same concept  Huh Huh Huh

Anyways, Bitcoin is also for me the most reliable coin to invest in and history has shown this too.
513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Overthink Potential of Bitcoin on: February 22, 2022, 08:29:31 AM
People can never lead themselves, there is always going to be the need for leaders to be in control.
So, whenever I see people who keep saying that Bitcoin is going to overthrow the government or take down the central banks, I just say that those people don’t even know what they are saying at all and don’t understand cryptocurrency.

The good thing about cryptocurrency is that it provides an alternative to the Fiat we are using, but that doesn’t mean that it is going to take down the central banks or stop the Fiat currency that we are making use of right now.

Fiat would still continue, and the government will still be there, same thing as the central banks, they will all be there and Bitcoin will just serve as an alternative when it comes to making transactions. Is as simple as that.
Thank you, This has always been my argument too. I don't see Bitcoin overthrowing any Government and replacing Fiat, even in El Salvador where Bitcoin has been made a legal tender, did it mean that the citizens can no longer use their old Fiat currency, and is there no more Government in the country? and for now, this is a one-off case. I don't think that was the idea behind Bitcoin, replacing Fiat currency instead as an alternative means of finance.
514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUD seems to be majorly targeted towards well perfoming assets like Bitcoin. on: February 22, 2022, 08:11:07 AM
Each time Bitcoin has crash, people make a Bitcoin death call. In total there are more than 400 calls like that in Bitcoin Obituaries.

Hilariously, people don't make such death call when other traditional assets crash. PayPal is example, Crude oil in 2020 is another example. Let them be and who can accept Bitcoin sooner, they are only-one-chance takers.

Oil prices went negative a year ago: Here’s what traders have learned since
Well true that but even with all this information now being made available to the cryptocurrency community, the question is, why do we keep reacting to these FUDs even when we know they are FUD? It has been proven time and again that Bitcoin is unkillable by anybody or entity but some investors and most traders still react to every news which we know the mainstream media has never been fair when it comes to Bitcoin.
515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I lost +$ 20k in future, advice for newbies on: February 21, 2022, 11:32:43 AM
Hey guys.
First of all, i would like to thank all people here who are sharing informations and help other.

Secondly, i want to share my bad experience in crypto using future.

Before Starting in crypto, i have traded forex in 2016, starting with a capital of $ 500,  i Lost it quickly then i have learned TA, after a few months, i came back and start again with $1k, Wich i turned into 5K in almost 15 days, but i Lost all again because I didn't respect rules and take more risk then i realized that forex isn't for me.

In the beginning of 2016 i started trading crypto but didn't know a lot of things about Blockchain, then lost again, because I didn't hold ( sold BTC and Ethereum at 2000, eth at 800 😂...

Since April 2021, when all people talk about crypto and when all is green 🍏 i started again in crypto but I didn't have  a clear strategy because i have trading using the money that i barrow from the bank Wich i had to use to buy our house with my wife, then i Start to take money from the bank, 3k a week, then i traded spot but as i wanted to make profit quickly but that was the wrong...
Then i started trading future and after turning 5k into 11k I didn't take profit coz i was greedy lol
After I lost all the money i have Wich is +20 k, i was living in hard situation coz i didn't buy the house i had planned with my wife to buy and she was angry as she didn't understand all this, she think it's only like casino...
Now I'm paying the bank every month the money i have borrowed from them until 7 years ...

It was a good lesson for me that I won't never forget.

My advice for newbies :
PLEASE, DONT NEVER TRY FUTURE.
PLEASE, DONT NEVER USE THE MONEY THAT YOU NEED FOR YOUR LIVING.
PLEASE, DON'T NEVER TAKE The MONEY FROM THE BANK AND TARDE WITH IT.

At the end, i apologize if that's long, but i would just like to share this and i hope newbies like me take lesson from this.
 Thank you guys.

You made a very good choice to stop trading futures. most of us that have traded FX back in the days and even if we did not make profits from those trades didn't take that experience and did not go in the same direction with crypto instead, we went into crypto trading with that mentality however, I believe that spot trading if at all you are going to day trade is the best. Buy and hold and sell when you are in a better price but for me, I prefer a longer time investment but great that you have realized the mistake and also shared it with us cos some will definitely learn from it.

516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin revolution on: February 21, 2022, 07:45:25 AM
A crypto investment scheme named BTC revolutionary has recently gained people's attention after announcing Investors can now earn over $1000 everyday. Also they said to invest in crypto if someone is interested to make investment where they can make million dollars they said, however the government came to know that the project is scam and it was recently ran into trouble with security and exchange commission in Philippines...

https://news.bitcoin.com/bitcoin-revolution/

Even without the Government's intervention, doesn't this just look obviously scamming to anyone that would have wanted to invest in this? We know that Bitcoin and other crypto investments have given good gains, me investing by myself in cryptocurrencies and making a profit is well different from me investing my money in a third-party investment with outrageous profits even though we know people will continue to invest in this due to greed.
517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One Bitcoin on: February 21, 2022, 07:34:46 AM
Your initial concept is basically just wanting to get rich instantly and it's not wrong, but I think it's something that's not quite right because in this case we can't expect something instant to get rich.
I think the 1 bitcoin you have right now is a pretty good thing but when you see the current situation than you are confused about what to do I feel it would be better if you hold it and keep it for a long time because this will be much better than you have to bother thinking about market prices and some alt especially meme coin
Exactly, which is usually the problem with most newcomers to the Bitcoin space. We see mostly trading for quick bucks instead of the longer-term investment and as we know, experience is usually the best teacher which the OP has gotten and it is obvious that OP too, has learned the best form for Bitcoin investment and once you had the means to do this, the ability to HODL becomes necessary because this is the second-best step you can take with your Bitcoin investment.
518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Multichain recovers $2.6M stolen funds on: February 19, 2022, 12:38:21 PM
We could remember around January 10th this tweet that went out @dedaub tweeter account identifying the "phantom functions" code pattern, which would have led to likely the largest crypto hack ever, even though they alerted Multichain about two vulnerabilities in its liquidity pool and router contracts, Cointelegraph reported, the warning announcement encouraged more hackers to try the exploit, resulting in losses exceeding $3 million.

“Out of the 1,889.6612 WETH and 833.4191 AVAX stolen funds, the team was able to recover nearly 50% of the total stolen funds, 912.7984 WETH and 125 AVAX (worth nearly $2.55 million and $10,000 respectively)” and looking at a compensation plan for eligible investors.

Multichain announcement of the issue encouraged other hackers to have knowledge of the issue and subsequently tried and exploited some more funds, however, great news that some part of the stolen funds has been recovered and users will be refunded and hope the rest will be too, So what could they have done better than the way they put out the information to their users?

520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investor Psychology on: February 17, 2022, 08:22:55 PM
I think why investors buy bitcoin at a high price and no one or only a few people sell it at a low price, because maybe they think and believe bitcoin will rise again at the highest price as it has in previous years considering the rapid development of cryptocurrencies , so most people prefer to keep it or hold it rather than sell it at a lower price.
You are right. That is the only reason that the investors that actually understand the market keep buying regardless of the price. People Have invested in Bitcoin back at the last ATH and those that didn't sell, of cause, made profits after the long Bear market and this has always been the case if you look at the Bitcoin chat for years now Like the saying goes, ‘The best time to invest in bitcoin was yesterday,
