Good thing that you still believe in our PBA kabayan hehe. Same here, I bet on the game thinking that it's not rigged or scripted as we sometimes jokingly say but based on the strength of the team and its adjustment made to win a ball game.

As a long-time PBA enthusiast here, I think for 20 years already, I'm not blind to those dramas, scripts, "bigayan", "Sagip Kapamilya" issues at some of the games. We can't really blame others who think that the league is scripted. Maybe yes, maybe no, but more importantly, I'm sure "most" games are still fair and square like what I pointed out before.

Actually, we can assume if the game is scripted or not if we watched the game live and we saw unusual things that are supposed not to happen.

Thanks for the correction, but this suspension might not have happened if the brawl did not occur. Additionally, since this game is public, is Big Beau foolish enough to play in that league despite knowing the possibility of getting suspended?

If I'm not mistaken that was an invitational game or some sort of that, and since Rain Or Shine is resting for a long now and PBA now finished its recent season, Belga thinks that it's fine not to coordinate on his team as this game he played is an event. Yes, if there's no brawl happening, Belga might get away from the possible suspension. Abueva before has the same case if I'm not mistaken, playing outside the PBA even under a live contract.

This isn't just in the PBA but in most sports - people often think that games are rigged, but until now, no one has proven it. So it will just remain a speculation, and regardless, it won't affect the interest of the people in watching the game, especially for those real diehard fans.

Belga should be more careful as he is not getting any younger, he is lucky to still have a contract with the ROS, but if he continues breaking the rules, we might not be able to see him again in the PBA.

Well, honestly that thinking will never be gone in any sporting event where gambling is also being done. It's not just all about the teams but it's the fans that are making these statements and thinking that they know better. It's possible that there really is match-fixing because it's seen for some sports but innocent until proven guilty. That's just a typical thought from the fans whenever the team they like didn't win especially if it's the finals.

I don't think it so and we all know that some of the fans says that there's a chance that some of the game see scripted and maybe it will but as of now there's no valid evidence yet so we can not say that Theres a scripted game.
About Belga he is playing inside the PBA and we all know that is against the rules and regulation and if it caught the it will leads on suspension li what abueva's Case.

And even how obvious it being done without any proven guilty it will remain as accusation, we've seen it before and there's nothing happened it will just die naturally and will be forgotten, PBA and all the teams are good in handling accusations like this, they are letting the media to circulate the news but they will not do anything to prove the possibility of game-fixing inside the league.

Obviously, they hear everything about it, but the actions to stop are still not needed since there's no proven case about these activities.

People may forget a certain incident, but their trust in the reputation of the league is not pure anymore. Personally, I believe that some games are rigged. Normally, when I follow my emotions and think I should bet on the best team because they can't lose, the opposite thing will happen.

Because of this rig factor, I always go against my emotions, and I have had more success doing so.

However, I have to admit that it has slowly killed the excitement of watching the game because there's a part of me that believes the game is rigged.

I can't remove that feeling as well, I mean the entertainment is no longer there when you have that feeling that the game is being influenced by game fixing, though there's no slid evidence that can be present and all are speculation that still not being confirmed or still not being identified if the allegation was true.

The very reason why there are more people now who don't like to watch the game as the reputation and trust are being questioned.

More on the gambling side and on how you can take that advantage with your anticipation, especially if the odds are really favoring your underdog pick, and the game wins for you.

This is the consequences for having single company owns by multiple teams like San Miguel and Pangilinan. I’m not a believer on match fixing or rigged games but knowing that the team is under with same higher ups management makes me think that this is really possible. PBA franchise is already a joke. I don’t know how they can still keep up while there’s literally no ticket sales on a match that doesn’t involve Ginebra especially the finals.

MPBL should be the one that being called the PBA because it has mechanics that shows a national level and not a company sports league alone.

I believe betting on live bets is more suitable on this kind of game to make a better grasp on the team performance all through out the game.

PBA is nothing without these giant companies. SMC and MVP group of companies are no doubt the foundation of the league. These are the only companies in the league that have the capability to offer good contracts to our local players. Actually, there's nothing wrong with me if the PBA does have lots of sister teams.

My only concern is the imbalance and unfair trades between lower-tier teams to high tier teams. But in that case, who's gonna blame? The key players of those lower-tier teams want a high contract that is only possible to be granted by SMC or MVP teams so they will grab the big offer instead from these big franchises.

Sister teams are fine as long as regulated properly but with the PBA status today, that's not the case. If only those independent teams are willing to spend big money, they can also compete with SMC and MVP teams. I'm also looking forward to the PBA welcoming big companies into the league but since there's a politics involved, SMC and MVP won't just allow that as they are the ones who made the shape of the PBA today - talking about the wide exposure to the public.

MPBL should be the one that being called the PBA because it has mechanics that shows a national level and not a company sports league alone.

I do agree but I'm sure MPBL will soon be associated with the same politics in the PBA once it grows bigger and bigger.

Aside from that, MPBL is crowd-studded because tickets are free at most cases.

I believe betting on live bets is more suitable on this kind of game to make a better grasp on the team performance all through out the game.

This should be highly considered if having trouble analyzing the pre-game matches, not just in basketball. For example, there are lots of PBA games in the recent conference or should I say, a season, where teams bounce back from a big lead, and if a bettor has good timing on those juicy odds, a decent return is waiting.

Not the case indeed, the favor always on the side of these two giants companies, they can take whatever they want even it's wide open to the public that the trade is not balance but nothing to be surprised once the deal got completed and the players who are involved will wear the jersey of the team they being traded.

Quote
If only those independent teams are willing to spend big money, they can also compete with SMC and MVP teams.

The problem with independent team, they are not willing to risk as they know that player who will show up and play inside PBA will always seek for either SMC and MVP, reality or being practical just move overseas and earned decently.

Quote
I'm also looking forward to the PBA welcoming big companies into the league but since there's a politics involved, SMC and MVP won't just allow that as they are the ones who made the shape of the PBA today - talking about the wide exposure to the public.

I used to remember when Chooks-to-Go express their interest to join PBA. After that Magnolia changes their name to manok ng bayan, showing that it's not going to let chooks to enter the league. Though maybe there's reason behind why chooks' willingness to join the league didn't materialize, just an opinion..

PBA is nothing without these giant companies. SMC and MVP group of companies are no doubt the foundation of the league. These are the only companies in the league that have the capability to offer good contracts to our local players. Actually, there's nothing wrong with me if the PBA does have lots of sister teams.

The only reason why pinoy still watching the league is due to its legacy. But the interest is already decreasing due to the team roster starting to become imbalance and the repetitive same team that goes in the playoffs. There will be fewer interest on this league if Ginebra is not involved that is why Ginebra keeps accumulating outstanding player and even naturalizing Justin Brownlee is absurd.  Cheesy

I’m ok if MPBL might suffer same politics on PBA as long as the fan based will be distributed among the region and not through the single company like Ginebra. I like to a national league to be supported by the people that represent by the municipality team or region like the NBA. Many good players in PH came from the province. It will be good to have that kind of roster and not based on the company to promote our local city.

That's true, it's like the goal of each player to play on those teams and have their retirement from there. Because they've seen the lives of the former players that have taken retirement from those teams and they've got some great recognition and not just that, they've also given livelihood based from those companies where they've retired. They're such a good team to retire with and that's what everybody is aiming and That's why if there are a few teams that are willing to take risks right now, I can say that it's rain or shine and converge.
By the way guys, the world cup is near, what can you say about our national team having with Italy, Angola, and the Dominican Republic?

Getting into PBA is already a risk. The problem is not they are not willing to take a risk. The problem is that independent teams do not have the same machinery or money that SMC or MVP has. Even though there are salary caps on PBA, there is no cap on perks and bonuses that companies can throw to their best players. That is why the goal of each PBA player is to get noticed by MVP or SMC teams and get traded to them. Plus, I think PBA teams are not really making money winning the championships, but their main goal is exposure. The prize pot is not enough to cover the expenses running a team.

I think we will have a hard time, but they are playing with a boost since they are at home, so maybe the cheers from the crowd can push the Gilas team to move to the second round. They have a few months to gather themselves, practice, and create chemistry.

Of the three teams that Gilas will face in the FIBA World Cup '23, it's only Angola that i think we have a slim chance of defeating but that would be an uphill climb. But I'm not expecting anything or the Gilas will be in the second round because the roster of Gilas going into this cup is not so strong coupled with the team's lack of practice together as most of the players in the pool are busy with its individual commitment.

A win in the grouping for me is a bonus and if a miracle happens and they landed on the second round that would be a great success and i would consider that winning the cup already hehe.

The only thing that people want to see in this FIBA 23 World Cup is how well Jordan Clarkson performs.

The good perks behind those two giant companies, they are assuring players with good compensations and additional bonuses especially with the livelihood that they can gain after playing for the team, it's always the dream of every young stars to play with these two giant companies as they know that once they've got the chance signing in their future will change in terms of financial capabilities.

A kind of risk where independent teams are not willing to invest, knowing that they are not capable of keeping the player, as those new young guns will only use the team as stepping stone to reach the attention of these two giant companies.

Yeah, there's the home advantage but these teams don't need any of that as they've got bigger and more experienced players. But still, I don't want to give that discouraging spirit.

The same thoughts from the others that I've seen commenting on this matter. They're all hopeful that it's just Angola that we can have that chance to win but the rest, we've got a bad history with those teams. Why is it that we've got this type of disappointment already even if the games haven't been done yet? Is it because we've got that thought about this specific coach that doesn't have the spirit to win? Haysss, poor guys, and mismanagement.

Those players that are okay with that are likely to be set for life and that's what they're trying to reassure but also, good to those players that have seen better opportunities offshore.

And we might see more players to seek for that opportunities knowing that only two giant teams can assure your good future and the rest of the independent teams are okay with come and go players, I think if there's no balance that will take with this previous leadership inside PBA we will see more and more people who will no longer be interested watching and supporting the league.

Not young anymore and I was able to enjoy those years where rivalries are really being supported by the fans, both live telecasts and live events inside the venues.

Now, if the team is not Brgy Ginebra, you will hear those words "scripted yan, alam ko na mangyayari dyan" showing no interest
anymore.

Another suspension of some PBA players who broke the rules.

Quote
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial threw the book at 10 players who recently participated in various games without permission outside of the league.

Magnolia's Jio Jalalon drew the stiffest penalty of P100,000 for his second offense. Jalalon has already earlier been fined and suspended by his ballclub.

Rain or Shine's (ROS) Beau Belga and NLEX's JR Quinahan, who were both with Jalalon in the fight-marred game in Catmon, Cebu were fined P50,000 each plus an additional P20,000 each for their involvement in the melee.

Belga and teammate Rey Nambatac were also already earlier been sanctioned by the ROS management.

Nambatac, Jhonard Clarito (ROS), Vic Manuel (SMB), Allyn Bulanadi (SMB), Alec Stockton (Converge), Barkley Ebona (Converge) and Arwin Santos (NorthPort) were fined P50,000 apiece.

Why do some people love to break the rules? Could it be because the penalty is very small compared to what they could earn playing outside the league?

What do you think is the main reason?

Perhaps the penalty is not that significant, but I'm sure that they are aware that what they're doing is against the rules of their contract.

As most of these players are already veterans in the league, they aren't setting a good example for young players. Maybe they couldn't resist the temptation to play since the PBA is currently on a break, but as I said, they should be aware of the rules, and that's not a good excuse.

Just my personal take about playing outside their contracts, or what we called ligang labas, some of them are earning huge amount as we know they are just like celebrities when they go outside there are fans who love seeing them, in terms of sanctions and penalties I'm sure they are well aware and they are neglecting it and they are willing to go behind their sign contracts knowing that the possible profits when they play outside might be better than the penalties.

I mean, it can be covered, and with how PBA is handling a case like this, I'm pretty sure it won't be the last time we will hear about it.
