2901  Other / New forum software / Re: Quick reply boxes on: May 03, 2016, 10:52:28 PM
I think a quick reply box would be useful on here.
Just for the hack of it?I dont see any convenience. I think the 'reply' button is good option
2902  Economy / Speculation / Re: It is Buy time! on: May 03, 2016, 10:47:53 PM
anything below 1k is buy buy buy !
I think it should be anything below $500 is buy buy buy.People who bought at $1000 earlier, still not able to recover. If bitcoin price cross $500,wait few days before buying
2903  Economy / Economics / Re: If Bitcoin had a stable price, would it still be as popular? on: May 03, 2016, 10:44:06 PM
Do you think if BTC had a stable price which could only be altered by $0.01-0.10 it would still be as popular and as used?
No I dont think it would be as popular as it is now if it has somewhat stable price but as far as it's use is concerned,I think people wouldn't hold it as it would be useless and would prefer to spend it more
2904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thank you Mr. Wright for creating bitcoin! on: May 03, 2016, 10:33:14 PM
If Mr Wright were the inventor of Bitcoin, I will be very disappointed. I thought Satoshi would be totally different person.

HAHAHAH. Did you think that an e-currency which is mainly used by the black market was made by a saint? Come on! Smiley

You are in idiot if you think he made bitcoin for that specific purpose
Yes bitcoin is meant to replace fiat from everywhere and that includes black market also.Unfortunately it is fastly replacing fiat from black market than from other place is another matter
2905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why so little talk of Dave Kleiman? on: May 03, 2016, 10:24:39 PM
One theory that is being floated on Reddit runs like this:

Kleiman is Satoshi, and had the keys to the ~1 million bitcoins. He dies, and his USB stick/computer/whatever went to a relative, who doesn't realize what he is holding. Wright knew Kleiman and knew he was Satoshi. So he invents this crazy story about being Satoshi, but that he can't spend the coins because they are all in a trust that was held by Kleiman.

So now Wright comes public claiming to be Satoshi - and sets himself up to launch a lawsuit against Kleiman's relative to get "his" bitcoins back. If Wright pulls this off, he gains the fabled treasure of 1 million bitcoins off Kleiman's estate.

Thoughts pro and con?
Sounds interesting but has many loopholes. For one it is impossible for someone having 1 million bitcoin in USB stick/computer/whatever and doesn't know how valuable they are.Second if wright claims to be Satoshi, what justification will he give of his keys possess by kleiman relative?
2906  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does sending Bitcoins feel good? on: May 02, 2016, 10:52:20 PM
When sending out some Bitcoins from your wallet, does it feel good? Do you get a nice body high from it?
No it doesn't give me good feeling because I consider bitcoin as precious and dont want to spend them. But I must admit as far as convenience is concerned,it is more quick and easy to spend bitcoin than using online money processors like PayPal
2907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Vulnerability Questions on: May 02, 2016, 10:47:18 PM
The address can be posted anywhere and be known throughout the world safely. There are many public addresses of organizations that have large amounts of bitcoin in them. There is no crypto vulnerability that will let you be "hacked" by merely publishing your address.

When you publish your ownership of an address, along with that comes a loss of privacy, though. Without special steps being taken, it is possible to discover people who sent money to the address, and we can see the address's balance and where you sent the money after you got it. You may put yourself in personal jeopardy or may invite more hackers to try to crack into your system if you are identified as being "bit-rich"

More importantly, though, wallets do not take special care to separate your public address funds from funds you wish to remain private. You may unwittingly reveal that you are the owner of other addresses. When you spend money, the transaction may be funded using both coins sent to the public address and coins sent to other addresses, indisputably disclosing your ownership of other addresses also.

It is discouraged to reuse an address, because to spend the money, the transaction (included in the blockchain) includes the full public key. This removes one security layer from the address. Other procedural faults, such as a bad random number generator used in the transaction signature generation, are then exposed to exploitation.
I guess these large public organizations that have large bitcoins do not keep them online.
To sum up you agree that it makes such wallet more prone to hacking
2908  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Wallet Vulnerability on: May 02, 2016, 09:57:42 PM
If you have lots of coins in your online bitcoin wallet, will posting that address in public like forums, facebook etc make it more vulnerable to hacking?
1.Should such addresses be kept secret as much as possible to keep them away from hackers eye?
2.If kept secret,is there a way for others to know how many wallet addresses holds big amount if bitcoins?

"...The winner will be announced here,
and will receive 5$ USD in either
paypal or a cryptocurrency of their
choosing, as well as a job offering..."
When will the winner be declared and what would be the criteria to choose winner among all entries? Is it open to worldwide participants?

2911  Economy / Economics / Re: If you were in desperate need for money.... on: May 02, 2016, 11:23:54 AM
If you were in desperate need for money / Bitcoins, what would you do? How to get it, earn it, whatw are your solutions and experiences? I wonder what people are ready to do when money is the problem.
Last month when I needed money I sold my bitcoins but there were occasions when I was in need of money and nothing to sell or ask anyone to lend but God always help me in various ways
2912  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stolen Bitcoin Advice on: May 02, 2016, 11:15:56 AM
Hi Guys,

Unfortunately I have had 5 bitcoins stolen from my wallet. I have a bitcoin core wallet which is encrypted and hardly ever use.

I have full anti virus software on my computer and in my mind that is pretty safe. It looks like the thief tested my wallet with 2 small transactions and then took the other 4.6 bitcoins.

Obviously I am annoyed at this and want to protect the rest. This was back in November and I haven't been about since then or even used my wallet or updated it. {I have only just checked it and am updating the walled transactions now}

Please can I have advice on how to go about fully protecting this from happening again? I am not that tech savvy per say so an idiot's guide would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Russ
Search this forum or Google 'How to create bitcoin paper wallet'.You can find stepwise guide on this forum as well.If you can afford, buy a trezor wallet and keep your coins in it
2913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING NEWS: SATOSHI FINALLY REVEALED! on: May 02, 2016, 10:18:02 AM
"he's got the private keys. "

he is refusing to sign a tx using block 9 keys and merely discovered a hash referencing Jean-Paul Sartre on block 9 which anyone could have made.

"He also says he can’t send any bitcoin because they are now owned by a trust. And he rejected the idea of having The Economist send him another text to sign as proof that he actually possesses these private keys, rather than simply being the first to publish a proof which was generated at some point in the past by somebody else. Either people believe him now—or they don’t, he says. “I’m not going to keep jumping through hoops.”"

It is trivial for him to publish a message and than sign a new tx without risk and without moving them out of a trust.

He is clearly a fraud.
If he is,its time real Satoshi came out and prove him wrong. In absence of any counter claims, there's no reason not to believe him.Do you think he can fool bbc, economist etc?
2914  Economy / Speculation / Re: If bitcoin dropped to $1, what you do? on: May 02, 2016, 10:00:31 AM
guess i would buy like 100 btc at that price without losing a fortune if i lose it , and if it goes up again i would be a happy man Cheesy.

Nope it won't bro! I would get a lot more Bitcoin if that ever happened because then the whales would all do the same and buy more.
Since everyone here wants to buy bitcoin in thousands at this rate,I am confident bitcoin will never fall that below and even if it does,it would be for a very short period as everyone will start buying
2915  Economy / Speculation / Re: Halving Bitcoin Reward Unlikely to Cause Price Surge on: May 01, 2016, 10:37:11 PM
Will bitcoins ever sell for $1,000 USD or more again? Possibly, but it's not likely to happen as a reaction to halving. The supply of bitcoins in circulation is not changing, and if miners jump ship that is a strike against bitcoins not something that would warrant a price increase.

The only thing that halving the reward to btc miners will do is make mining half as appealing. In fact, if you think about it, it's not a very good system because the more people using bitcoin, the more you need miners...but the miners get paid less and less as time progresses.

At the very least, as compensation from mining decreases, a minimum network transaction fee should be imposed and it should increase proportionally to difficulty to ensure that all miners receive a predictable and steady flow of bitcoins for the resources they provide.
Halving will attract more users to bitcoin due to media hype.Resulting in high demand for bitcoin, this can lead to price hike and once it triggers price rise, chances are it will touch $1000
2916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ever find an old wallet? on: May 01, 2016, 10:33:43 PM
I am not lucky enough to knew about bitcoin in early years.I think you are really exceptionally lucky to have got back your lost password. But you would be more luckier if you had found them in 2013 when price was $1000.If you had sold them then and kept that money, you could have bought more than double coins that you then had.Now keep the coins safely for next big price bump
