I would still appreciate a lot if somebody could give me a hint on how to re-program the FPGA - https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon#Update_FPGA_controller_firmware doesn't really tell a lot, also not the readme from http://downloads.qi-hardware.com/people/xiangfu/avalon/fpga-controller/

Do I have to understand it like this:

* download and compile http://xc3sprog.sourceforge.net/
* download and compile https://github.com/Wolfgang-Spraul/fpgatools/tree/master/mini-jtag
* download what exactly from https://github.com/xiangfu/mini-slx9-board/tree/master/firmware ?
* download xc6slx16-2-ftg256.bscan_s6_spi_isf_ext.bi from http://downloads.qi-hardware.com/people/xiangfu/avalon/fpga-controller/
* Run mini-jtag load bscan_spi/bits/xc6slx16-2-ftg256.bscan_s6_spi_isf_ext.bit && sleep 1 && ./xc3sprog -c qi -v -I fpga-controller-firmware.bit

Can I do all of this in OpenWRT?

I gotta be honest, I would get pretty upset, try not to let it out on the wife as much as possible, but I would none the less get upset at the situation =(

First part: Yes, really - Bitcoin and the community seam to be mature!
Second: I told her to open the housing, she didn't like to - how should I get upset then?

Hello Everyone,

 my long looked for Avalon arrived in my home when I was (still am) thousands of kilometers away on business trip.
As time is money I told my wife to switch it on. I configured it via the Internet trough my VPN. So far so good.

It was not running totally stable, so I searched for help and found the controller PCB version 1.5 F1 issue. Described to my wife how to cut the fuse and told her to open the housing and do it.
As the miner was open my wife lost confidence because "it's so small" - I said okay, let it run like this, so just restart it a few times per day. Unfortunately there was a screw falling in when she closed the case - and a flash when she was switching on power again. Long story short - my beloved miner is damaged even before I ever saw it.
After my wife hired somebody to change the power supply I can access the box - here is the debug output of cgminer:

I asked them to cancel my last withdrawal and the did within an hour. Very nice service, considering that it is Sunday. However the fact that it is Sunday and they CAN do this proves that my withdrawal never reached the bank.

 Disclaimer: I am pretty pissed of with MtGox because of 3 withdrawals which I never received and finally canceled after a lot of bull shitting mails from their side. Also see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179586.0 .

I think that Mr. Karpeles is a person of Bitcoin-public interest and so gossip about him personally is of relevance. However there is little which can be found - but many people here are around a long time and might be knowing much more.
I start of with the little I can make out myself, correct me if I am wrong.

Mark Karpeles is a french expat living in Japan - I can only speculate on the reasons for that, I guess in his home country he would simply be a porky nerd which has a lisp and the women don't look at.
I think besides Magic the Gathering and programming he was never really good at anything and the success of MtGox struck him unexpected. From the Reuters interview we can clearly see that the company is not run professionally, and the loss of 3 payment partners in the last weeks tells a lot.

He is young and unexperienced in running multi-million dollar businesses, talking to banks, governments and press.
