1081  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin-Central, first exchange licensed to operate with a bank. This is HUGE on: September 27, 2013, 02:14:54 PM
Sorry for reopening/restarting this thread.

Just wanted to say that the exchange: bitcoin.de/r/7ghwmw works with a bank since about one month as well.
They mostly got pretty high selling prices. You can really make a bit more money if you transfer it first from another exchange to there and sell on bitcoin.de.

Regards to everyone!

Does bitcoin.de have an affiliate program or why are people linking to it with codes attached? And they don't have high selling prices at the moment aaaand they are a market place and not an exchange which makes the main difference to Bitcoin-central.

http://www.techienews.co.uk/971487/bitcoin-central-exchange-reopens-after-6-months-hiatus/ - that is a reason to re-open the thread.

It's not a ribbon cable, it's 3 individual wires as far as I remember
1083  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: September 27, 2013, 01:03:21 PM
By the way if somebody wants to water-cool his Avalon I still have 3 water blocks lying around (actually waiting for my trade-in unit Sad )...
1084  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: September 27, 2013, 12:56:30 PM
A question about fans.

I have a damaged second hand Batch #3.  The power distribution board is destroyed, and I can't find a source for a replacement.
I only have 1 of the mining modules.  It is also damaged, the 10 chip miner P9 has a destroyed capacitor in the center of the chips, the familiar capacitor seen in many other photographs.
I have moved the header / backplane chip 1 position toward higher numbers.

I bought a control module and a power distribution module from bitmine.  I believe these conform closely to the public release of the early Avalon schematics.

The unit hashes and submits shares to eligius.  The 10 chip miner connected to the first position on the header always reports 0 work, so I assume that both the 1st header and the 1st 10 chip miner are damaged.

No matter what I do, the fans only turn a few dozen rpm, and the temp2 and temp3 are reported as 0 using c kolivas 20130821 firmware.

I am using --avalon-fan 80 in the parameters.

Does anyone have any insight about the fans?

How shall the firmware spin the fans without temperature reading?
I have some spare thermo sensors lying around. Also they are cheap if you want to buy your own from an electronic supplier of your choice, the type can be found in the published Avalon documents.
1085  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did anyone else notice CNY/BTC volume surpassed aggregate USD/BTC volume today? on: September 25, 2013, 12:50:55 PM
The daily production of 3k6BTC is only a fraction of the volume traded in China at the moment. Also do they need Chinese RMB? What for? It's a non-convertible currency that nobody really wants if avoidable.

The ASIC manufacturers sell the ASICs for BTC. Then they convert to RMB to spend on production.

I guess development makes up for the bigger part in the calculation and you will have to pay that up front, before you are able to sell hardware.

How trustworthy are these numbers?
How can it be that the price is still under the dollar level? I remember times (before the crash) when the price on btcchina was 15% higher than MtGox. Who is selling in China and where do they have all the Bitcoin from?
1088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 24, 2013, 02:15:16 PM
Sorry to bump in without reading up on all the pages in this thread.
Is there any proof that the chips are finished? I guess if they want to ship in a week the should have the chips by now?

Volume is awful low Angry

Learned in this thread that it is actually not on the other side of the world https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=299836.msg3213814#msg3213814 .

Check out this stie http://btckan.com/price .

It's a pity that neither bitcoincharts nor any other popular western site has those exchanges listed.

Tl;dr because I'm anyways not sure if this is a good moment for buying mining hardware. However this Timo Hanke guy checks out http://www.math.rwth-aachen.de/~Timo.Hanke/ as a German University professor specialized in cryptography and discrete mathematics.
1091  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: September 24, 2013, 12:15:38 PM
so there are no differences between 3 or 4 modules right?

What should make the difference?
The opposite is the case as you need to run all 4 modules at the weakest module's frequency and will make cooling more difficult.

Here's the thread that compelled me to upgrade my TIM: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211825.msg2687268#msg2687268
Thanks for the tips @el_rlee!   Smiley

and a couple of pics to show why you should at least check your chip temps before attempting any OC.

You're welcome!
I wouldn't give to much about dielectric properties of the paste. Also please throw away the paper, it's a bad heat conductor! You can put the paste on the PCB and that directly on the heat sink!

Is there any better alternative to bitcoincharts.com? It really sucks. Bitstamp data not there half of the time, btcde missing often etc...

Also please share some links of Chinese exchanges if possible.
1094  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did anyone else notice CNY/BTC volume surpassed aggregate USD/BTC volume today? on: September 23, 2013, 04:03:27 AM
Hardly. 24h volume on btcchina.com 991BTC atm.
1095  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: September 19, 2013, 03:40:02 PM
Does anybody know why the volume on btcchina is so low the last days?

DDoS

Never had a problem reaching the site.

1 PH actually only means 10M$ for a 51% attack at a rate of 10$/GH...

What would be a "healthy" relationship between the value of the safe and the money in it?

Thanks. This thread does not get enough attention.

Is it possible to withdraw funds from Mt. Gox?

No.
1100  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcointalk stats update - Bubble over? on: September 11, 2013, 01:47:26 PM
Astonishing.
That's pretty anti-whale-pro-swarm theory, ha?
