<MagicalTux> ok
<MagicalTux> found the issue
<MagicalTux> looks liek bitcoind 0.8.1 has some issues with the api under heavy load

Great BTC selling opportunity of the market goes artificially high because users cannot get liquidity in.  Just sayin'.

(Also sayin' that I sure would not be taking a chance on it unless I wanted to be a seller anyway though.)

are others affected as well?

The money still isn't on my account, it's 24 confirmations now. What makes me a little angry is their attitude of not looking into this before 48 hours go by.

Hello All,

it's been some time since I sold BTC, but the price at the moment, you know...
So I sent them to the address in my Mt.Gox account, but nothing gets credited even after 20 confirmations on the blockchain.

Mt.Gox supports answered the following (boiler-plate, I know...):

Quote
Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.The transaction is in process and there is bit delay due to network congestion on their end so we request you to wait.

When withdrawing or depositing bitcoins into your Mt.Gox account there may occasionally be a delay (1~24 hours) depending on network congestion, your internet connection speed and the time required to get 6 confirmations on the network. If you're sending to your computer's wallet, it's good practice to keep your bitcoin client running so it can download the block chain. For those that may not know the block chain is the complete history of all transactions made on the bitcoin network, and as such it can take some time to update and download the most current block and see the bitcoins in your wallet.

If you aren't seeing the funds after either withdrawing/sending to Mt. Gox from your bitcoin program, please wait 24 hours before contacting us. If your transfer has still not occurred within 48 hours, please lodge a support request so we may begin the process of tracking your bitcoins and reinitiating the transfer.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact Mt.Gox Support by responding to this email (should the enquiry relate to this ticket).

Thanks,

MtGox.com Team

Seriously, WTF?
1424  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: advertising budget of BFL on: March 26, 2013, 12:10:32 PM
Is there somebody with an Ad Sense account who can tell us what the cost for this is approx per month?
1425  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'd like to ask for some help. on: March 26, 2013, 03:37:05 AM
Still didn't make it on the list...
Although Matthew offered me a sum which he then didn't pay...
1426  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: advertising budget of BFL on: March 24, 2013, 10:09:56 AM
Well if you're raking in the millions without having a product..
The question should be how much money of 'yours' are they spending to advertise?

Targeted ads, $0.20 a click probably.

So let's write bots that click their ads Smiley

make one click from your ip? and then?
1427  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: advertising budget of BFL on: March 23, 2013, 01:14:57 AM
I see them at normal German newspapers and so on... Would be interesting to know what you have to pay per click to be #1 in the Bitcoin interest group.
1428  Bitcoin / Hardware / advertising budget of BFL on: March 22, 2013, 05:28:32 AM
Hi boy's and girls,

normally I use an ad blocker - just now I am on a shared computer without and I am shocked of how much BFL advertising I get presented on how many places. Freaky!
i guess that doesn't come cheap? Has it always been that way or are they sucking the last straw to get more customers?
Can somebody estimate how much such a campain costs?
1429  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 15K USD FOR AN AVALON?! on: March 19, 2013, 06:13:37 PM
it's not even for an avalon, it's for the pre-order
1430  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: March 13, 2013, 12:51:39 PM
I guess he means the ship out of physical devices
1431  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: March 13, 2013, 10:04:16 AM
When are the floodgates opening for batch #2 orders? Next week?

would be interesting, an update is due
1432  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-03-12 Bitcoin at record high - on many german newspapers. on: March 12, 2013, 02:45:08 PM
Media attention Phase?

I think so.
I don't know about other countries but in the German speaking media it's quite common to get your material from an agency called "DPA" - Deutsche Presse Agentur
1433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn't it about time for a major hack/disaster? on: March 12, 2013, 03:25:59 AM
...meanwhile, disaster is pretty much resolved, and price is back up to $45.50.  If that was it, I think we can rule out software bugs as causing bitcoins to tank, and it will have to be something more social/political.

that is maybe the price of 9 minutes ago.

1434  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info coin mixer TOTAL RIPOFF on: March 11, 2013, 10:58:48 AM
The fee was lowered to 0.5% a few days ago which is 3-4x cheaper than most similar services.

thank you.
1435  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: March 11, 2013, 10:33:25 AM
3. The dhl lady made a query for ALL shipments originated from HK to my country

And yeah baby she found found it Smiley

What country are you in? Bhutan?
1436  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: March 11, 2013, 12:26:48 AM
Would be interesting to know where the bottleneck is - but I guess we will never know.
However if assembly & ship out is the problem and they have enough PCB's and ASIC's lying around I would solder mine together myself, seriously.

at least not gamble in a way you and I can understand...
1438  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-03-08 Forbes/Matonis First Bitcoin Hedge Fund Announced on: March 10, 2013, 02:36:13 AM
Could somebody explain what this fund is doing in simple words? They took 2M5€ and bought Bitcoin with it? That cannot be it...
Basically IMHO they would have to act as kind of pass-trough for Bitcoin buying and selling. Any details available? When is (or did) their money gonna hit the exchange(s)?

They have been acquiring BTC over the last 6-9 months or even earlier, but they wouldn't say their entry price. I'm fairly certain that their average is sub-$15. This is just the first time they've talked about it for a formal announcement. The $3.2 million is an estimate based on current BTC assets of 80,000 at $40:1 BTC exchange rate.

A hedgefund is gambling? Shouldn't they normally try to be "risk-neutral" and go for the safe buck?

They will act as a regulated, intuitive and safe proxy for rich investors to buy bitcoins. Bought bitcoins will be stored in a TrueCrypt container.

Okay - hence the 100k$ min. That's for setting up all the secure storage things etc... What's the 3.2M then?
