Out of curiosity what will you be doing with this AVR dragon? I'm electronic not* savvy so keep it simple please Smiley
2042 Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Estimated long-term costs of owning and running different ASICs on: July 16, 2013, 04:24:37 AM
How does multiplying B10*B3 (BTC/Ghs * # to get to 1 TH/s) give you total power draw? Maybe I'm reading your spreadsheet incorrectly or the written formula is just in the wrong spot?

Edit: Nevermind, the B10 should just be B11 and then the math works out just fine. Thanks for the spreadsheet!
2043 Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Asicminer USB Erupters...how do they even make sense? on: July 16, 2013, 03:59:21 AM
I ran several profitability calculators, and even at $85 cost and free electricity, these units don't seem to make any sense.

Even if you consider selling your GPU's, not sure it's a wise strategy to invest cold BTC or Cash to buy Erupters.

By the time they breakeven, they'll be yielding so little profit to even justify the attention to keep them running...and that's assuming they'll survive 10+ months of non-stop mining.

It's more like giving Asicminer an interest-free loan, or betting BTC will be >$500 in next two months, or a combination of both.

You are correct on all counts apart from the last one - if you are betting BTC will be $500+ in the next two months, there are many smarter ways to express that view. (such as, erm, buy BTC today?)

Regarding the question of why anyone would sell a profitable asic - there are some good reasons actually:

Even if you can build thouands of asics, that's not the same as operating thousands of asics 24/7. The logistics of space, power consumption, cooling, security etc scale very fast once you start looking at hundreds or thousands of units.

Selling an asic is instant ROI - operating an asic is ROI over time, which always carries more uncertainty. Asic manufacturers have bills to pay, some cash in hand is always needed.

And finally the 51% issue - even if someone has a highly efficient asic, getting close to 51% of network hashing power would be detrimental to their long position in bitcoin. Selling units would be a way to further increase profits without increasing their share of hash rate.

But realistically, at the moment at least, the biggest reason to sell is because demand > supply, which is reflected in the ridiculous prices you have noticed.

I just wanted to say that you brought up excellent points and I thank you for your post.

Wait you want 20 BTC ($2,000 USD) for a jalapeno? or is that a typo?
2046 Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] ASIC Block Eruptor USB Miners on: July 15, 2013, 07:40:56 PM
Trying selling one on ebay (there are more than I can easily count) for $150 and let us know how that goes haha Grin
sold 5x for 150€ each today - but this is germany, they are rare here currently

150€ for an eruptor is insane. If that is true contact me and I can get you 60 eruptors for 120 euro each and you can keep all the additional profit
2047 Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] ASIC Block Eruptor USB Miners on: July 15, 2013, 07:38:08 PM
"little to no ROI"

Yeah wait until BTC sky rockets again.

Wait until difficulty skyrockets again Cheesy

Free bump....why does that case/modules look so beaten and dusty already?
2049 Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 3x Little Single (1x in hand, 2x #2568) on: July 15, 2013, 07:44:41 AM
After BFL converted the products "names" to their hashrate, I have forgotten the hashrate of the "little single". I believe it is 25Gh/s...is that correct? If so how much are you looking to sell them for?
2050 Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 25% off any new BFL order on: July 15, 2013, 07:35:43 AM
And what is the cost for me to participate in the 25% off?
2051 Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 25% off any new BFL order on: July 15, 2013, 07:25:37 AM
How did you get 25% off a BFL order and what is the minimum purchase price you're looking for?
2052 Other / Off-topic / Re: [SELL] USB Eruptor based miner - 3+ GH/s on: July 15, 2013, 07:23:09 AM
I offer 4 BTC for the package and I can do local pick up.
2053 Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] ASIC Block Eruptor USB Miners on: July 15, 2013, 07:16:44 AM
The ones on ebay for 1.5-2x original price (1.05BTC, or $160+) aren't selling or they are using their alternate ebay accounts to boost the price so that no one walks away with them at a good price. Trying selling one on ebay (there are more than I can easily count) for $150 and let us know how that goes haha Grin

Anyways I offer BTC for them and none of that fake ebay price boosting bidding BS.
2054 Economy / Currency exchange / [WTB] NMC for BTC or Paypal on: July 15, 2013, 02:32:02 AM
The current rate I'm paying is about 200 NMC for 1 BTC, which can/will change depending on market prices.

I prefer to trade your NMC for my BTC, but I can also do paypal for a 5% fee.

I'm still trying to imagine walking around with $40,000 in a suit case thinking **Please don't rob me, please don't rob me***
2056 Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] ASIC Block Eruptor USB Miners on: July 14, 2013, 06:19:56 PM
Currently I'm paying 0.5 BTC per miner.
2057 Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] ASIC Block Eruptor USB Miners on: July 14, 2013, 04:48:31 PM
I'm buying up to 20, depending on what people are getting rid of them for.
2058 Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] ASIC Block Eruptor USB Miners on: July 13, 2013, 10:50:41 PM
If you suddenly realized that you will have very little to no ROI on your ASIC block eruptors, I will buy them off you for less than what you paid ( Shocked ?). Send me a PM.
2059 Economy / Goods / [WTS] Autozone and Magazines.com Gift Cards on: July 13, 2013, 10:31:48 PM
Would anyone be interested in an Autozone or magazines.com gift card in exchange for BTC? Post what gift card amount you want below and I'll give you a quote!

2060 Economy / Services / Re: Lyth0s ASIC Hosting and BTC Hashing Power Payouts on: July 02, 2013, 11:46:38 PM
I am very interested in your second service.

If I ran my Little Single (30 GH/s) on your site, would it be possible to receive weekly cash payments?
Say I'm making $100 a week, could I PM you before you mail with the instructions to have $50 shipped and have a $50 best buy card included?
How much notice for that would be required?
How can I confirm you are providing the exact amount of Bitcoin minus whatever fee you charge?
What kind of fees do you charge for this?

1. Currently 30 GH/s is about 4.95 bitcoins per week, which turns out to be about $430 per week
2. The process would be as follows:
You mine on my worker and I would only cash you out when you asked me to do so. I will then credit you for (BTC hashing power * current BTC rate) minus a 5% fee.
The current BTC rate would either be the daily average BTC trade on mtgox OR the last BTC trade on mtgox, whichever is lower. IE if the last trade is $94, but daily average is $96 then the calculations would be done by the worth of a BTC being $94. Usually the difference is only $1 to $3, but in high quantities it makes a big difference for me (especially if the market is going down).

So basically I would send you the money in any of the formats I listed in my original post. If a visa card requires the $5.95 fee to be activated then that would also be taken from the cash out amount after the 5% fee has been deducted.

3. There are 3 ways to estimate that your payout is what it should be.
    A) Use a mining calculator to estimate your weekly payouts (just for a general idea)
    B) Watch your BFGminer stats for the total amount of shares you have accepted in the mining pool, you can then either look at the mining pool's PPS or I will provide it to you. Multiple the two and you have a well estimated payout before the fees.
    C) I will provide you a screen shot of your miners stats if requested and I can provide you with updates via PM (both of these could technically be forged IF I was a scammer so take them with a grain of salt)

4. The fee would currently be 5% for your setup. Most gift cards don't have an activation fee, but if you choose a visa prepaid card then the $5.95 activation charge would also have to be deducted.

5. I want to also inform you that even though all calculations would be conducted on the day you tell me to cash you out, that if you are making $430 a week from your miner, that I would require 5-10 business days to have the payouts in the mail. I know that sounds like a long time, but bank wire transfers take me at least 4 business days to have funds ready for you.

6. If you currently have the miner and you would like to take as little risk as possible let me know and we can start with just $100 of BTC hashing power (or even $25/$50) and you can get a feel for how the process works (and to prove that I wont run with your money) and that way you can decide if my service is right for you.

If you have any further questions just let me know!
