181  Economy / Economics / Re: Food security might not be a priority for younger generations. (2) on: February 15, 2024, 11:55:02 PM
This is already expected from these younger generation since majority of them have more passion on technology and innovations rather than focused on agriculture related investments. I’d say this is not actually bad for our economy but if all these people will put all their eggs in one basket, that would mean they’re all susceptible to losses, thus putting their finances at risk. So my suggestion is to instead diversify their funds into cryptocurrency and agriculture. That will probably create a more profitable and productive outcome.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 15, 2024, 03:57:58 PM

If people could realize that they should choose to invest rather than gamble, they would see that their investments could grow and provide profits in the future. They will not lose money from their investments as long as they have the right investments, but when they use gambling, they will only lose their money slowly and will find it difficult to recover their lost money. The important thing in investing is that they must be patient until the time is met so that they can get the profits they want.

Do you know why most of the people gambles? Because they can't afford to invest, with gambling, if you are lucky, you can easily grow your money to 10 folds, or even 100 folds in just a short period of time, and that cannot happen when investing in a gambling platform. Investing is only for people who have a decent capital, and now, most of the gambling sites already have their private investors, so it's not anymore feasible for small time investors.

Actually, if we like to invest, rather choose a different industry because investing in gambling are only for those big capitalist. IMO, it's even better to invest on crypto (bitcoin or altcoins) as it could sometimes go x10 or x100.
183  Local / Pamilihan / Re: NBA discussion, betting and etc. on: February 15, 2024, 03:18:21 PM

Bukas naman tayo before the all star.

Bucks -11.5
Warriors -2
Wolves -9
184  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do many people fail in trade? on: February 14, 2024, 11:57:34 PM
People may fail in their trades but it won’t mean that they will keep on losing until the end. Trading can be learned most especially if you take most of your time learning trading, and it’s normal to see initial losses since you are still in the process of learning, what is not normal is that if you end up quitting without recovering your previous losses. That is not the mindset of a real trader, as trader never quits but will continue to master his craft until he’ll end up successful and profitable.
185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do cryptocurrency increase the standard of living on: February 14, 2024, 10:46:14 PM
Hodling and trading can possibly create big changes in one’s life but this will not be possible without studying and learning the market first. However, even if you build your career in crypto, there is no guarantees that cryptocurrency will eventually change your life for the better. Some are just positive at first but eventually quit in the end since they can’t carry the pressure in the crypto market. But for those who were never shattered despite of the never ending losses and still  fix themselves, most likely they will be successful and increase their standard of living in the long run.
186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 13, 2024, 02:24:54 PM
Just a quick update on the line tomorrow. We can already see the full market of the game. I notice something strange, it seems like the line is moving on the favor of Magnolia, from +3.5 now at +2.5, probably people are believing that they'll take game 6 and we will see a game 7.
Sounds trappy  Grin lol

I guess I'm not pulling the trigger yet, we still have plenty of time, I'll be observing the line movement before I will make a conclusion. I'm reading all your replies guys, I liked the conspiracy theory you brought out, if Magnolia wins, that will prove it but bisdak could be right too because SMB relied so much on their outside shooting despite they are having the advantage inside, if they miss a lot, this will be Magnolia's night.

As to the total, it's now at 189.5, quite similar to the line in the previous game.

Total hasn't change yet, it's a 50/50 bet, but if you are smart enough, you'll take the under as it could be the last game, and you know how Magnolia play, they are too physical. Given they have a good break, they'll have fresh legs when in game 6.

Quote
I haven't seen an OT in this game, maybe let's try to consider betting on OT as well with the following odds.

SMB/DRAW x18
MAGNOLIA/DRAW x19..

Interesting odds, this is worth a try. I'll pick one I guess, I like the x19 (bigger by 1) because I think Magnolia will start strong and SMB will try to catch up, and maybe might end up in OT.
187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Anyone +18 Play Gamble? on: February 13, 2024, 01:27:08 PM
Casino does not care if you have an experience or not, all they care is that you are on a legal age to gamble, and that you must be 18 years old and above. They are regulated and been following what the regulated mandated them to do, because if they allow minors, that would be the end of their operation, which they will not allow to happen.

When we sign up to a online gambling site, we check this "are you 18+.....?  That means we are matured enough to understand the TOS and to  manage the risk in gambling as well.
188  Other / Meta / Re: Should bitcointalk ban promotion of other forums? on: February 11, 2024, 11:57:09 PM
I guess there’s no forum rule that talks about that. Probably because bitcointalk forum is not threaten by other forums and so no matter how often you advertise other forums, that won’t break the rule. However, just for the sake of being a responsible and trustworthy member, know what is good from bad before you insist it doing in the forum. At least, you should know how to respect the forum and its admin staff.
189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding the basics in Bitcoin before investing on: February 11, 2024, 11:30:00 PM
The question is what do you think a newbie should know as elementary knowledge before investing in Bitcoin
A newbie should know that they can invest, but investing puts you at the danger of loss and fixes you at a position where you are at risk of cybercriminals. A newbie should understand most importantly for me how to keep their bitcoin investments safe. Safety should always be prioritized, if it is not, the result will be regrets because when you loose you bitcoins, it hurts a lot that it can even affect a newbies decision to want to continue investing in bitcoins. If you introduce any newbie to bitcoins, always give them serious security tips.
Security should always be given high emphasis. Otherwise, all your efforts and hard-earned money will just go into waste because you are busy accumulating bitcoin but not safeguarding its security which is the most important. Newbies should be aware that investing in bitcoin does not only require knowledge but wise management as well knowing a lot of scammers are waiting around the corner just to find new targets for their next victims.
190  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Learning comes before earning on: February 11, 2024, 10:58:41 PM
For a responsible investor, learning should be the first focus before trying to attempt profit making. But we all know that the new generation of investors these days are not giving much emphasis on learning but instead they take shortcuts and jump into chasing profits. And that’s very wrong because that will only put them into consistent and inevitable losses in the future.

But as the old folks say, let them learn from their mistakes. Once they see their losses are not healthy anymore, then they will surely shift directions and change their perspectives in life.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 11, 2024, 02:05:12 PM
We have two games tomorrow and it's too early in my timezone, so I might not be able to watch it but I'm betting in advance.

First game Boston vs Miami
2nd game Sacramento vs Oklahoma Thunder.

This is a great match up, it's like a playoff match up.
Obviously, the favorites here which are the Celtics and Thunder could gain a lot of bettors, but I'm thinking it is going to be an entertaining game as Miami always play competitive basketball to Boston (except for the last time). Further, Kings vs OKC is quite a great match up too, they could meet in the playoffs if they'll be able to maintain their standing, so it's hard to guess on who will win, but OKC had a very decent home record.
192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 11, 2024, 01:10:10 PM
Big win by SMB, they can't dominate the Magnolia anymore but they came up with a great strategy this game. Making Boatwright more of a defender than a shooter works well for SMB. Expect the same strategy will be made in game 6 Boatwright and Fajardo has been huge on the floor with getting rebounds. As long as the 3 point shooters of SMB are clicking, winning should be on their favor.

They now have a lot of 3 point shooters and it's hard to predict on who will get hot.

1- Cruz
2- Enciso
3- Lassiter
4- CJ Perez.

How can they guard these players. See you in game 6, and it could be the end of the series.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jerwin Ancajas vs Takuma Inoue - February 24 on: February 11, 2024, 11:49:04 AM
I sure will bet on him. I am also waiting for more markets so I could find some attractive odds, you know what I'm saying.
They have a local community here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=252.0... but most of them if not all are just focus on their community. If they will discuss about boxing, most probably on their own language.
You can monitor the odds here. Not much yet but the moneyline odds is already attractive for me. This odds that you are looking for might be available in Feb 23, a day before the fight. This is a championship fight but both boxers aren't so popular in the boxing world, so it's understandable why markets are not yet out early.

I guess I have to vote for Ancajas to win via KO.. I feel it's the safest way to win, no shady thing or whatsoever, let's respect the judges decision but as a challenger, the best way to win is not on the scorecards.
194  Economy / Economics / Re: The savings problem on: February 10, 2024, 09:56:55 PM
The reality is, people do not actually rely from saving anymore, but by taking a loan as they get instant approval most especially if they present good and stable sources of income. With that, the essence of saving most especially for the younger ones have started to vanish until out of 10 workers, only 1 is able to do so.

That’s how fast and influential the changes are. If there are no instant loan offers, they will be encouraged to work hard and save more. But this is the reality now, people are dependent already on what is instant than taking a long process like saving for their future.
You say that the value of savings is disappearing among the population, especially among the youth, and I think that the economy is not helping this situation, but if there's a will, there's a way. People need to get a financial education and read books that help them in their jobs. Because most of these problems arise because people don't distribute their income properly and leave expensive items for the future.

I guess no matter how people become educated or not, but if their intentions are not that strong to save for their future and for emergency funds, they will definitely won’t find some ways to save. Getting low salary income is not actually an excuse, because if you really have the biggest desire to save, you will resort into looking for side hustles that will pay you extra income, that way you will have no excuse from not saving.
195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are credit unions so much safer than banks? on: February 10, 2024, 08:45:25 PM
Credit unions are safer than banks because they are for non-profit cooperative which only caters small scope of investors and members and take fewer risks, unlike banks that are huge and cater most of the big time investors and so the chance to collapse is high. While credit unions can be more trusting and reliable, banks are often considered to be more at a higher risk which makes it highly susceptible to fraudulent scams which eventually put the banks at a compromise causing it to collapse in the end.
196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: February 10, 2024, 03:39:13 PM
Well, no, if there is an anomaly in a casino or website, then they shouldn't be able to operate. And I think it's only your imagination. Just as you know, raising a bet will also raise the risk of losing money, and the amount of money you will lose will be even greater. If you notice that, better bet small, as you said in the OP, that you will win.

I don't think the casino itself will be the one to blame for how much you bet. If you know that you are losing when you raise your bet, then better go to a safe bet or place. So far, I haven't experienced this kind of happening because I know when to raise my bet if I know and feel that I will win. And also, it its only rare that I will raise the bet to a higher amount because I know the risk that I may face.

As long as he is playing in a reputable casino, he can assure that everything is fair. They take care of their reputation so much, they can't allow it to be ruin as that is their main asset to make the business profitable. Now, when someone is winning with small bets and losing when betting big, then I guess there's something with the behaviour in gambling. You know, when betting, we need to be calm and relax so the luck will enter, with small bets, we might feel relax and able to analyze things up, but when we bet big, we might feel the pressure especially if it's big enough that might shake our finances, that's why it's very important to only bet within our limit, otherwise, we will end up losing because of lack of focus.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 10, 2024, 01:28:37 PM
Haha, Thanasis showing off his game.
Too bad he can only highlight it when they are up big in the 4th. Still is shows he has confidence even though everybody always laughs at him. Gotta give it to him for that.
If there are people who have been debating who's the goat, I bet that everyone is going to agree that Thanasis is the goat right now. We all need this entertainment value that he brings not just for his team but also to us.  Cheesy

Let's just give it to him as he's truly enjoying his entire career and look at his brother with that drive he made, proud Giannis on the bench.

Who knows if there will be some good contracts he'll get through shoes endorsements.  Cheesy

Wait a minute, don't conclude yet that he is the GOAT of entertainment.. It's not only Thanasis now as Beverly had already joined the club. Both of them are going to be the energizer of the team, while Pat Bev on the floor, it will be Thanasis job to take care on the bench.

Enough for Thanasis, I think it was a great decision that Beverly was acquired in a trade. I'm sure the Bucks are more interesting to watch especially if they'll get Beverly some good minutes as he can do some hassle in the floor that is vital especially on close games or when they are trying to rally.
198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia April 20 WBC junior welterweight title on: February 10, 2024, 12:02:14 PM
I like to be different among the many here, and with that said, I choose from the poll "Ryan Garcia BY KO"... I am the only one who voted for that, I choose that because I believe that for Ryan Garcia to win, he needs to be aggressive and has to KO Haney. Despite not being an undefeated boxer anymore, I believe Ryan's power is enough to knock out Haney with the right strategy. We know that Haney moves a lot, therefore Ryan has to improve his quickness too in order to catch Haney moving, and with Ryan's long reach and has a good height, he could possibly achieve that.
199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 10, 2024, 09:16:15 AM
I didn't know about this rule. So if a player have maxed out 5 technical fouls for the entire season or conference then he's eligible for that. What a rule but I guess this will teach most of the players to be careful for every fouls that they do because it becomes crucial at the finals if ever they become one of the teams there. It was just fun to see Jericho did returned the favor to Calvin on game 2 but his presence was important on game 3 and that's one reason they lose.

There was a similar rule in the NBA too, but it's 16 technical fouls before a player gets suspended for one game without pay. It make sense that it's more than the PBA since the NBA has more games to be played compared to the PBA. I think Cruz didn't count his technical fouls, if they were behind, that could be a big blow on them.

In today's NBA, a player who receives 16 technical fouls in a season is suspended for one game without pay. For every two additional technical fouls, he receives a subsequent one-game suspension.

I know it exist in the NBA but didn't know PBA have adopted this rule too.
NBA of course have a better ruling and more than with that and PBA is just also following some rules. But let's get on with that game and move on because the game 4 has ended yesterday and we've got a 2-2.
And there's this surprising fact.. I heard last night during the game from sports commentators that if Jericho Cruz again will receive a technical foul, he will be suspended next game. Maybe that's why Cruz wasn't so aggressive and he just control his temper. Yes, it's already 2-2, it's now down to best of 3.

No need to rush, the game is not today but tomorrow in the evening. It will be Sunday, I'm sure there are a lot of SMB fans that will watch this game. A quick update on the point spread now, SMB is still slightly favored with -3.5 .The same line they had last game that they loss by 11 points. At the first two games, I thought the series would be over in 4 or max 5, but things have changed now, the momentum has shifted to the Magnolia Hotshots, and winning next game could put the SMB on a tough situation. We might still see Fajardo but he might not be 100%.
Yeah, for sure that Sunday is going to have a lot of crowd and majority of them are going to be with the San Miguel Beermen. I'm thinking that this finals is going to reach to game 7. And it's not yet on the website where the game 7 might commence since this can be ended with a 4-2 but if not and goes to 3-3 then we'd see the schedule for the last game.
If there's a game 7, they might look for a bigger venue, probably in the Philippine Arena...Well, let's hope that it will happen as game 7 is always fun to watch. last time it was Ginebra who filled the huge arena, I'm not sure if this series would do the same.
200  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading or Long term on: February 09, 2024, 10:55:56 PM
I think there is no need to confuse yourself since you can resort into doing both if you can cater well to both of its risks. A day trader can also be a long term holder, but not all the time a long term holder can be a reliable day trader. If you think you’re capable to do both, then much better. However, if you are still in the process of learning day trading, focus on long term hodling instead. You can do day trading in the future if you have the necessary skills and strategies to make it work, and of course the sufficient funds that it needs the most.
