61  Other / Meta / Re: Paid Signatures Increases Likelihood of Getting Banned on: June 02, 2016, 03:00:39 AM
@minifrij

If you ask me the person you are replying to is a dupe account being used to push the agenda against signatures.
Have seen it once or twice lately in threads where signature users need to be looked at as idiots drooling all over their computers.

The silence by those that usually push the issue is usually another way to sniff it out.
Means they are about to get their way or they are sitting back plotting.

Humans have developed a nature to criticise everything. If something had happened to the kid, the same people would have screamed how the officials thought a human life to be cheaper than a stupid animal. And humans like conflicts so much that they would argue almost everything in political terms.

This idea that a animal is worth more than a human being is something that has been building momentum in the last say 20 years.
I remember people used to shoot their dog when it got injuried or sick and now that is a crime. They rather have you go to the vet and spend thousands of dollars nursing the pet back to life. Last cat I took to the vet was pissing on stuff so I had enough and the vet gave me the gears over it,decided right then no more cats!
But back to my point, there was a high profile case about a year a go where a guy had beaten a dog to death and it was obvious he had mental health issues at the trial. The room was packed with mostly women crying over justice for this dead dog. It was so bad the judge said that he wishes people took interest in trials where humans have lost there lives the way you folks have gathered today.
They did not get it and had banners and all kinds of signs about justice and rights for dogs.
Look at that stupid Lion that went all over facebook and twitter because some guy had gone into the no go zone to make his kill.
The best thing about that story was the people from that area saying wheres the help for us!

Think pet ownership has steadily gone up as well as people find they can relate to their stupid muts more than a human being.
Run into yahoos like this every other day, where they do not see that they are obviously lacking in some form to think a dog actually loves them the same. If a pitbull humps my leg does that mean he and I are best buddies?

Yeah you bring up the bizarre state of things for us humans being able to get our knickers bent out of shape over the weirdest things.
Kind of like road rage,I used to get hot but now I can let it go. Was starting to effect my heart I think because I would still be hot 10 minutes later.

I find almost all threads/postings from people with ad campaigns in their signature have such an extremely low content, that I would like to see a button to ignore them all at once. Please ...

Must be leading by example and showing us how to make quality posts.

So much better now  Grin

Almost all? Least you are not full on biased, way to keep that door open in case you need to back pedal a little bit.
I find you to be very low content as well,so it is a mutual feeling right back you! Wink

The freerolls are important but they seem to get scrapped and I tend to check once and be done for the day.
Noticed they are not getting enough people again and that must be due to infrequency of schedule. Hopefully that gets addressed on launch day.
65  Other / Politics & Society / Dead Gorilla on: June 01, 2016, 05:54:36 PM
This story about the kid that crawled under the fence in Cincy Zoo to get rag dolled by a gorilla has had some really funny offshoots connected to it.

Video of story:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/astonishing-new-footage-shows-gorilla-8082168

One was people attacking white people even though the kid in question was black.

Or these stories on parents:

Funny how a story spins around I bet you could set up a go fund me for the gorillas family right now and get donations.

This is not a reflection on my mental state or how grounded I am.
Its just a look into issues pertaining to the militarization of the police and the continued chewing around the edge of our rights as citizens. I spend maybe 10 minutes out of a day and I do not think about cops all day. Cheesy

A family friend lost their son due to heavy handiness by the police and it irks me that they are pushing off the investigation waiting for the public to lose interest. Not even a year before that a neighbor lost her 14 year old son in a park beating and nothing has been done with that. The poor kid was half a block home before he succumbed to his injuries.

Do not be so quick to judge some ones character,I could be a complete asshole. Cheesy

Police are filing warrants for Android’s vast store of location data

Google's data is precise enough to place suspects at the scene of a crime
Quote
In February 2015, a man with a painter’s mask and a gun walked into a Bank of America office in Ramona, California, and walked out with more than $3,000. Police tried to track down the bank robber, but the mask prevented a positive ID and the trail went cold. Until, in November of the same year, someone matching his description robbed the same bank again. This time, witnesses identified Timothy Graham, a 64-year-old who had taken out steep loans from Chase earlier that year. When they searched Graham’s apartment, investigators found clothes and a gun matching those used in the robbery, effectively sealing the case.

The November holdup was solved, and there was reason to think Graham had been responsible for the February holdup too, but how could they prove it? None of the witnesses saw Graham’s face in February, and Graham himself wasn’t talking. He was physically similar to the man who held up the bank in February — but it was only enough to keep the case going, not enough to make it stick.

So investigators tried a new trick: they called Google. In an affidavit filed on February 8th, nearly a year after the initial robbery, the FBI requested location data pulled from Graham’s Samsung Galaxy G5. Investigators had already gone to Graham’s wireless carrier, AT&T, but Google’s data was more precise, potentially placing Graham inside the bank at the time the robbery was taking place. "Based on my training and experience and in consultation with other agents," an investigator wrote, "I believe it is likely that Google can provide me with GPS data, cell site information and Wi-fi access points for Graham’s phone."

That data is collected as the result of a little-known feature in Google Maps that builds a comprehensive history of where a user has been — information that’s proved valuable to police and advertisers alike. A Verge investigation found affidavits from two different cases from the last four months in which police have obtained court orders for Google’s location data. (Both are embedded below.) Additional orders may have been filed under seal or through less transparent channels.

It’s not clear whether either of the public warrants were filled. No Google-based evidence was presented in Graham's trial, and the other suspect plead guilty before a full case could be presented. Still, there's no evidence of a legal challenge to either warrant. There's also reason to think the investigators' legal tactic would have been successful, since Google’s policy is to comply with lawful warrants for location data. While the warrants are still rare, police appear to be catching on to the powerful new tactic, which allows them to collect a wealth of information on the movements and activities of Android users, available as soon as there’s probable cause to search.

The data is collected by Google's Location History system, which has been present in various services for years but was made particularly visible with the release of Timeline last July. Location History uses the data in Maps to build a persistent portrait of where a user has traveled with their phone, a history that can be viewed or edited in the Timeline tab of Google Maps. Every time Google Maps establishes a strong enough location point, the system makes an entry in the user’s Timeline history, establishing that the user was in that place at that time. Google Photos users can even incorporate photos into the stream if the systems are fully integrated. The result is meant to let users "visualize your real-world routines," as Google put it in Timeline's official announcement, similar to Facebook's persistent history of everything you've shared.

While a user's Location History is largely private, Google can still use the data to target ads, and it's accessible to warrant requests from law enforcement. It's also only collected if a user enabled Location History while setting up their phone, although declining to do so also disables Google Now and other features.

The data is far more accurate than what's available from other sources. Police routinely request location data from phone companies, but the result is determined on the basis of the nearest cell tower, which typically only provides a general estimate of a phone's location. (In Graham's case, AT&T warned that the results were "less than exact," and they were subsequently ruled inadmissible.) The location systems in Android and iOS combine that data with GPS, local Wi-Fi networks, and other sources. That lets Android pinpoint users to a single building, rather than a single city block.

This is just a thread to chew over the issues relating to rights, privacy and policing tactics.

Wonder if you would put the wifi sickness in the same category as this story.
Have a neighbor that was astounded that I leave my internet on over night, she was thinking she was getting fried 3 houses down. Cheesy Mind you she also gets me to stop my car at her place to tell me something and then gets pissed I am idling!

End of the day no one really knows what is good for you. Look at jogging,so many people do it and how many have bummed knees from it? If breathing is bad for you then breathing rapidly in and out during a workout has to be worse. Wink

Price of cheaper products is coming home to rest, tried reading that 20 page report and got 4 pages in till I needed another coffee. Skipped to the last page and the solution to this issue seems like it may create more headache than actually countering the problem.
Would have to think this also applies to cars as well.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should there be public awareness campaigns to warn new users about Ponzi schemes on: June 01, 2016, 03:02:25 AM
if you start telling newbies about ponzis
people may start to think thats all btc is used for, scams

instead inform newbies, btc is like any other currency, so protect it like you would money.

anything else they need to use their own commen sense

Bullshit.

If you believe that then you believe bitcoin is rife with pedophiles and terrorists. You can not control image,it is something that comes about naturally or is not authentic. So shutting down ponzis because you are afraid it will reflect poorly is a slippery slope into more restrictions and control over the members in how they act and what they do. That is not bitcoin.

Not because the "message" may not be dangerous, but that the people will stop from using those systems (Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, Google) for communication altogether.

What is your opinion?

Nope. Most of the people simply don't care about the censorship. Only a few middle-aged white males may make some noise over it, and they are a small minority. The others are not much bothered. They will go on with their lives. Facebook is having almost 1.6 billion users as of now, and they won't worry much if one or two million leave.

Do not care, meaning they will not be bothered to fight for it,but if asked I think people would rather not have censorship issues. Be interesting to see if the numbers fluctuate even a little when these companies get hit with
stories that show them to be restrictive in nature!

When something comes along and it will eventually, the down fall will be swift like a punch to the gut.

Since 9/11 its beens a slow grind on the people to give up more rights and lately it feels like its been turned up a notch.

NYPD Officer Stripped Of Gun, Badge After Pulling Gun On Video
Quote
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — An NYPD officer who was seen on video pointing his gun at a bystander who was filming a police encounter in Harem has been stripped of his gun and badge.

There seems to be some confusion by the Police as to how far they can go when people are filming them.
I know here in British Columbia,Canada they can not take your cell phone as evidence,no matter how much they may lean on you and act like they can.

Why would anyone want bitcoins from down under? Cheesy

25K does seem like a lot,be interesting to know exactly when the auction is to watch if it effects the price at all directly after or in the 72 hours afterwards. This most likely will not be the last time a Government drops a load of bitcoins on the market through proceeds of crime seizures.
73  Other / Off-topic / Re: Warcraft movie on: June 01, 2016, 02:35:13 AM
Are you excited about the movie? How long have you been waiting for it? Also, general WoW thread.

My partner thought the commercial was, initially, for an upcoming expansion pack or something. Couldn't believe a movie was being made.

It looks awful.

This movie has been in the works for a good time now,I recall back about 2007ish if I am correct, they where talking about making a movie.
They should follow the movie up with a new expansion if they where smart to grab new players.
Something along the lines of the DK pack that allowed people to play at the same level as old timers.

Trains coming towards the tracks and the gates go down to block traffic, some yahoo decides he can navigate through the gates and make it across. Do you need to put up more warning for people like that or just realize that no matter how many restrictions you make their will be dumb people that are suckers!

Its getting old relying on more warnings because some people think these people need more alerts to the issue.

Guy pulls over to get serviced by a hooker, not realizing said hooker is a dude. Does he need a warning?
75  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Robots vs Human Who gonna Win in the Future; on: June 01, 2016, 02:23:51 AM
Careful...Pretty sure OP is a robot testing the waters, just look at how he typed this all out!

The way robots win is if we program them incorrectly, least that is how I perceive the issue to play out.
If the some how had intelligence that they play out in sci fi,that is always evolving I do not think they would destroy humans but would turn inwards more to make things more efficient.
But thats my layman view on robotics.

I always worry about putting a laptop near my junk or a cell in my pocket.
Kind of weird this story is making the rounds again, followed by a instant story about it being false.

The amount of people that are addicted to their phones and tumor rates have not flown through the roof has to tell you something.

Got a family member that got a tumor in her brain when she hit 30 and the seizures she got after removing it where unreal. The drugs made her a complete space cadet and yet she can still drive! Sometimes you have to wonder about the medical field letting people drive looped on drugs.

From China to the U.S., drivers are buying bigger vehicles, while sales of fuel-efficient hybrids struggle.

For Saudi Arabia, Iran and other members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, due to meet on Thursday, the sharp increase in sales of gas guzzlers is good news: It means stronger demand for gasoline and diesel for years to come.

Quote
Perversely, their behavior could mean that oil prices rise sooner rather than later, as fuel-thirsty vehicles help demand catch up with supply. For OPEC ministers in Vienna, the sight of four-wheel-drive vehicles on the perfectly smooth streets of the Austrian capital is good news.

You combine this news with people getting loans through car dealers more often now then their banks and we have a continued rise in consumption. Lot of these car dealers actually loan people 10K on a new car sale,so they are just putting off paying one debt by taking on a bigger debt.

Have to look into this faraday pouch that was mentioned by some one on my twitter feed. Looks like a interesting little gadget to have in the treasure chest.
