Kuwait Says Oil Near $50 Shows OPEC's Strategy Is Working

Quote
Oil will end the year at $50 a barrel and the market will rebalance in the third or fourth quarter, Anas Al-Saleh said in an interview Wednesday in Kuwait City. Kuwait will stick to OPEC’s strategy of pumping to win customers, he said. Demand is growing and about 3 million barrels of daily crude supply have been lost to interruptions or because some producers have been priced out of the market, he said.

Think the electric car movement is strong and will push oil but it will not replace oil any time soon.
Musk will most likely face some challenges as production of his cars ramps up and it could cause some set backs.
Have to remember this is a man that pushes the boundaries and when you do that you have setbacks.
These charging stations being set up in peoples houses are going to only really be available for people with money or new homes, lot of electrical panels are tapped in any house over 25 years old due to technology needing so much power, homes where just not set up with that in mind.

The Fingerprint Lock on Your Phone Isn’t Cop-Proof

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-05-11/the-fingerprint-lock-on-your-phone-isn-t-cop-proof

Quote
The FBI’s feud with Apple over access to Syed Farook’s iPhone might never have happened if the San Bernardino, Calif., shooter had been carrying a 5S or newer. For the 250 million phones sold around the world with fingerprint authentication since 2013, law enforcement may be able to compel suspects to press their fingers to the devices and unlock them.

With minimal litigation on the books in the U.S., police and prosecutors require only a judge’s blessing on a warrant for a suspect’s fingerprints. So far they’ve used the power sparingly. But as the number of fingerprint scanners in hip pockets grows, district attorneys across the country say the technology is poised to become a major engine of evidence-gathering. “It is likely to be just a matter of time till this does become a primary gateway to accessing phones,” says Micheal O’Connor, an Alameda County assistant district attorney in Oakland, Calif.

If a person has enabled Apple’s Touch ID, her fingerprint will unlock the phone for 48 hours after locking before the device requires a PIN. Systems on newish Samsung and LG phones work similarly. Los Angeles and Oakland are among the cities that have already granted or received warrants for the use of a finger to unlock a phone. The next step may be a lawsuit that determines whether a fingerprint is off-limits.

Legal scholars say law enforcement is likely to win that fight. Two years ago, David Baust, a paramedic in Virginia Beach, Va., admitted that his locked iPhone 5S may have filmed him in bed strangling his girlfriend, according to a court filing. Baust’s lawyers argued that unlocking the phone would violate his Fifth Amendment right to avoid incriminating himself. A state judge ruled that demanding Baust type in his pass code would entail a “mental process” leading to self-incrimination, but that asking for his fingerprint was more like drawing a blood sample and therefore OK.

Although the Virginia decision isn’t binding on other judges, it’s only a matter of time before a higher court weighs in and sets a precedent, says Rahul Gupta, a senior deputy district attorney in Orange County, Calif. He, too, is betting on police and prosecutors. “It’s just the same old evidence, blood or a mouth swab, being used in a different way,” he says.

Fingerprint-scanning phones will become the majority within about two years, estimates researcher IDC. As the pile of warrant requests grows, the pressure will be on magistrate judges to draw a line between genuine seizures and fishing expeditions, says Leslie Harris, a lecturer at the University of California at Berkeley’s School of Information. “They could be the last line of defense,” says Harris, who’s also president of the Harris Strategy Group, a think tank that advocates for privacy rights. “And they often get calls in the dead of night that force them to make immediate decisions. It’s not an ideal situation.”

The fingerprint lock systems, as they stand, though, aren’t foolproof skeleton keys for law enforcement. When the phone is switched off and restarted, it requires a pass code. And it won’t take long for criminals to learn that the little scanner on the home button isn’t their friend.

The bottom line: Fingerprint locks, which will be the norm in two years, give law enforcement an end run around smartphone encryption.

Imagine I could get a phone pre 2013 but they will eventually make it out of date with various updates to make the phone inefficient. This looks like a issue that will being tackled for a well and should go back and forth in the courts.

Thanks for the link, going to watch a few more from "The School of Life",looks like a great series to touch up on people and history.
Interesting how art influenced so much back in the days.
204  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Lawsuit claims Facebook illegally scanned private messages on: May 21, 2016, 03:23:09 PM
Was curious to see what they where doing this for and noticed they stated child pornography out front, which every one would agree with is something that we need to seek and destroy but then after that is gets a little less clear.
This is a good thing Facebook is being held to the fire,it may change a few aspects of how they go about business.

205  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Former Facebook Workers: We Routinely Suppressed Conservative News on: May 21, 2016, 02:51:22 PM
Bet that they really did not want that to happen after they made such a effort to slide the issue under the rug.
The best thing to happen now is for a whole wack of people to be banned so they can not say it was a glitch and would have to address it.

And so? What do you think will happen? People stop using Facebook because it's using censorship?  ^^

People use a lot of platforms not understanding the extent of their privacy being shed away, for example those stupid free app games they download like Angry Birds. Most of the people I run into have no clue that they handed over so much information to the host. So I do think with every issue Facebook has more people will become aware of the issue, what they do after that is up to them as long as they are aware that there are issues.
We could say most of us are on a scale of how much privacy we think is needed, for me its more extreme but for others its the mantra of "Nothing to hide, nothing to worry about"! But I think that is very shortsighted due to changes in political views that may become more restrictive and use the information against the populous.

The issue of more people being banned would create more of a storm in the media as it effects mostly the right in this situation and the blow back may turn into a rallying cry, like a hashtag but the people would also need a alternative.
206  Other / Meta / Re: Are you happy with the Bitcointalk administration/moderation? on: May 21, 2016, 02:30:27 PM

To reiterate my initial post as it looked like gave some lip service and went right into issues I feel.
The Mods here are very proactive and will pm you if they what information on a issue you are having in quite a short period of time after posting, thats great. They also are very quick to handle reports of spam and a lot of the time when I am about to report something it is no longer there, which is damn fast!
Lot of yahoos, myself included that make the job harder for them at times and appreciate their work.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I was just about to say the spamming had settled down and then I walked right into a cluster of it. So weird how it ebbs and flows at times. For a well I thought Politics had gotten better and then I look at some replies that are echo or pure nonsense.
207  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Bernie Sanders able to make a surprise win in the California Democratic prima on: May 21, 2016, 01:54:59 AM
I like what Bernie is bringing to the table to address a glaring issue of neither choice being viable but who is going to take his torch for the next election? I doubt he runs at his age,but he is sure setting a foundation for some one to run with.

Saw this post and forgive me just figured out how to post it,McAfee retweeted it:

If Bernie wins Hilary the dragon lady will start cracking and showing her teeth.

209  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: YoBit removed me from their signature campaign. on: May 21, 2016, 01:36:32 AM
Went back 8 pages to get a good read on the issue and noticed one issue that came through clearly.
You have a tendency to echo post, repeating something that has already been stated. This is seen as spam by the mods and I they are trying to crack down on it,so I would not doubt as signature wearer you get less leeway on that.
Few other aspects but I do not think they are the reason but will point them out to help.

- Posting in another signature service thread
- Cursing
- Starting out sentences with a spelling error that show rushed posting

The real problem I could see is you can do better and its not like you lack the skills,so when you make lazy posts its very obvious as opposed to some one with a language issue that keeps it to two lines worrying about being figured out.

I know it sucks but if I get booted I am alright with it due to it being a service and I am a employee, not customer and therefore get held to a different flame that may burn a bit hotter.
Just posting this to help not a attack on you either in any way and its not my intention.
210  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] Cyberdeck Poker - Flagship of the Enterra Bitcoin Poker Network on: May 20, 2016, 10:25:15 PM
The ladyboy on the front page always makes me pause, make it a little more obvious that that is a lady or a dude dressed as a lady, its to hard to figure out and may detract from the player base thinking its some kind of LGBTQ poker site.
211  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk run by jews? on: May 20, 2016, 10:21:07 PM

Oh come on, yall take it so personaly, id love to be a jew.
Zero fucks given about jurisdictions, as long as i know a jew is a dude that has a lot of clams and luvs da market.

Where are you going with these comments?

Some people here care about things like this because they have studied history and know the power of words.
It may seem like something to joke about for you but as you get older you may come around.
212  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Drugs fuck you up, man on: May 20, 2016, 07:18:53 PM
Drugs are pretty good these days if i do say so myself. has anyone ever tried kratom? pretty herbal plant, it helps life easier.
Is cheaper too and some companies are selling it online for this is not illegal in most states. check this krakenkratom.com

That's more like Indonesian or Philippines scene isn't it ? However Saliva is the best alternative if you want to trip balls.

Oh like Khat, that stuff keeps getting nailed at the border, that and dodi. The gravel truck drivers love that stuff,it helps them work long hours and blast through red lights with ease. Cheesy
213  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Other dudes Penis on: May 20, 2016, 07:14:57 PM
This just came to me well I was reading the comments,we are very close to making a fully functional penis for people that have sex changes! Kind of interesting to think we are heading into interesting developments in sexuality and appearance.

I think in the future we will have more problems with those people who will want to change sex

It is very difficult to understand why reason a man behaves as a woman?

I so far read books and books in search and an answer and can not  understand

I try to read what I can and I usually think I am a excepting person and try not to judge in real life but the Transgender issue eludes me and I can not shake the idea that its more a unchecked mental health issue than a actual authentic group that needs these rights that over ride and lessen every one elses rights in the process.
The agenda almost like black lives matter seem to want to polarize rather then bring people together.

Was surfing through a story about transgender and you just reminded me of it,I need to look up what a sissgender is now! Some lady was referenced as that and I was lost, will come back here once I look it up..

Oh man I spelled it wrong its cisgender and I guess thats me. Grin

Quote
Cisgender is a term for someone who has a gender identity that aligns with what they were assigned at birth. The term was created for referring to "non-transgender" people without alienating transgender people.
214  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Drugs fuck you up, man on: May 20, 2016, 07:03:46 PM
Was watching some talking head on t.v and they where discussing the legalization of pot here in the next year and he addressed the fact that all his mental health patients had tried pot. Like he was presenting a chicken and the egg debate over if it caused the mental health or they smoked because of the mental health.
Seems to be one of these things that keeps coming up when they talk about the young brain in development stages such as teen years. I can never shake a friend that used to be quite out going and then he broke up with his girlfriend and started to isolate himself and smoke a ton of weed.
Lost touch with him and bumped into another old friend and was saying I never see any one from the old days and the last guy I saw was so and so. He tells me its weird you said that he hung himself in his closet just a month ago. I can point to a lot of people that went a little off with drugs but I think the mental health aspect was there before and the drugs may have nudged them quicker.
Not getting into the sad stories of coke, meth and whatever other heavy drugs cause I rarely go 3 months without seeing a old face now and its sad seeing how bad life is treating them. One guys trial was in the paper and he had beat up his best friend over a drug debt and they where like brothers when we where kids.
Another was arrested for making bombs in his apartment but he always had some issues before the drugs.
You know when you say a old face and life has been rough for them and you want to say something but do not want to risk letting a unpredictable person back into your life and keep walking. It eats at me when I do this and its always a split second thing but I know any ways rambling again...

Point I wanted to talk about mostly was the chicken and the egg of mental health and drugs.
215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Internet of Things and Bitcoin on: May 20, 2016, 06:52:57 PM
Not really following the OP but when he talked about incentive to keep his daughter doing right and the speed limit I thought of fractal payments based on driving the speed limit and getting the car back before curfews.
I guess it would be tapping into the same aspect that the app that pays for walking.

Started a thread on bitcoin Philosophy it might be what you are getting at in way you talk about what we want for bitcoin and the comment about pure profit. Had a interesting discussion but the signature spam have muddied the waters a bit on it since.

218  Economy / Economics / Re: How good are you at managing your money on: May 20, 2016, 04:48:25 PM
I'm pretty bad at it and I don't make as much as I used to.   But I don't have credit cards so I don't live beyond my means.  I guess I'm not as bad as I used to be.
About the same story here, never been too good with my money but i have been getting better lately. At least my rent is always up to date and bills paid.

I also don't have any credit cards, got 1 sent to me as soon as i turned 18 i think and it went very bad but that was years ago now so i lernt my lesson the hard way on that.

Since my work hours got cut when sales went down a few months ago i have had to survive from paycheck to paycheck.
I actsually have a lot of credit card debt myself and I'm on a pension. I spend more money than I earned. The real thing that screwed me over is maxing out my credit cards. Now I have little money except what I earn here.

This has become the case for most people with credit, debt has suddenly become seen as a good thing because the interest rates are so low.
Once we adjust there will be a generation or two that never knew interest rates could be so high and have never known 15% in their lives.
There is a reason why car companies are getting into the the business of debt, they can make 5 times more money this way.

Zuckerberg’s GOP Meeting Shows a Master Politician in the Making
http://www.wired.com/2016/05/zuckerbergs-gop-meeting-shows-master-politician-making/

Quote
And so, the question comes down to trust, trust that Facebook will do right by users of every political affiliation. Zuckerberg has been playing the trust game with users for more than a decade, on issues ranging from privacy to how its technology decides what to show more than a billion users in their News Feeds at any given moment. We won’t tell you how everything works, Facebook has in effect told users. Just trust us to do right by you.

Quote
And the good news for Zuckerberg is that no one will ever blame him for aspiring to be more neutral. In fact, Facebook will likely be better off if people of different ideologies believe the company is trying its hardest to remain nonpartisan. That’s not just good politics. That’s good business.

Wanted to vomit after reading Wireds take on Zuckerberg pandering to the Right as a form of damage control.
This is not a new issue for him on privacy or optics. This political agenda scares the crap out me because it feels like they are trying to set the ground work for him to run in the future. Imagine how he would run America if he had the chance!
220  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gianluca95 is spamming on: May 20, 2016, 04:23:07 PM
It totally matters.  If you're going to accuse someone of something, I want to know who's accusing.   And so does the accused.  Especially in silly bullshit like this.

How does that matter, mate ? Don't you think the point being made has more weight rather than the person behind it ? Anonymity is much appreciated on the internet.

So you support the OP creating this thread well the person is banned and unable to speak for his side of the issue?

Anon is something most of us like about bitcoin but the part you miss is he accusing a member of wrong. Its either legit or a smear campaign and if its the latter he could do it over and over with no problems. Say he includes the OPs personal information are we still holding to the anon factor. Seems to be a double standard and in the real world you get to face your accuser. There is a reason for this.
