DASH is vulnerable to attack 51, any can rent more than 51% hash power at Nicehash

BSV is also vulnerable, good coins are only BTC, LTC and BCH https://www.crypto51.app

Whats the real bitcoin cash ?

 Huh

I liked bitcoin cash. And in some ways thought of it as the real bitcoin. But Is Bitcoin ABC following Satoshi vision or is Bitcoin satoshi vision following satoshi vision?

I'm actually serious, though having fun with it too. But still. I assume bitcoin ABC is pretty much bitcoin cash? what does it stand for, in a nutshell, I mean apart from onchain scaling. Why did part f the community fork off to make SV? Which is the real deal?  Whats the difference in laymans terms?

I liked bitcoin cash (as I said), but now hold bitcoin cash and bitcoin sv and dont really know which to support or really what the difference is, ideologically speaking
Both are mostly supporting the original vision for bitcoin.
But since the battle for the Bitcoin name was lost, I think Mike Hearn advised the community to be brave and make drastic changes in order to severely outcompete the rest of the crypto market. And that's what the Bitcoin Cash community is doing with Avalanche, tokenization, anonymity, oracles, etc...
BSV is mostly aimed at being an exact copy of Bitcoin 0.1, hoping that hardware improvements and increased investments will make up for the sub-optimal code.
Both roadmaps deserve respect when taken out of context. But since BSV is run by scammers I wouldn't touch it, personally. Maybe a few as a risky investment (scammers are willing to pump and dump, maybe you can catch a pump) - but I don't believe it the coin's fundamentals.

Thanks for the response Smiley That does help me paint a picture of the differences ideologically speaking. I feel like bitcoin cash, as in the ABC fork, has indeed decided to go in a new direction, and therefore I understand the reason for the split a bit better.

Just to put some random musings into the mix. The reasons I liked bitcoin cash (which were to do with supporting the original idea of bitcoin) do appear to have transferred to the SV fork, but as you say run by (possible)  scammers which is slightly offputting, not to mention it is seen as lesser than bitcoin cash, which itself was lesser than bitcoin (as voted by free markets) so maybe just a shitcoin. The direction of bitcoin cash (as in ABC) is now following a path in which I already have a coin I like more (which is Dash) which is already further along in some of those aims.

I guess it all leaves me as confused as before. But at least with a bit better understanding.

The Byteball Platform - Thoughts on a Rebrand

Greetings Byteball Community and Team.

My apologies for such a long post, and a re-post from our Reddit thread, but I felt some may not see it otherwise and that a full explanation was in order...

... ...

Thank you for sharing that post which I found to be an extremely interesting point of view. In fact the 5 merits I sent don't seem to do justice.

Disappointing I thought to see the very first response and others afterwards focusing on domain name and  accusing you of trying to profit from that. I didn't reach anywhere near that conclusion when I read through it. Rather I believe you have written from your heart how it is the state of the project as you see it.  I for one think it is good that you have held these domains for such a cheap price. (When Dash bought Dash.org it cost a lot lot more). Of course community might not agree with you anyway on choices of names...

I always considered the absolute top priorities for this project is to 1) become as decentralised as soon as possible by having a full list of independant witnesses and 2) to have the  supply distributed ASAP but some aspects of your post make me reconsider my view. Perhaps rebranding and some refocus might have more merit than I had considered.

I think bytecash is perfect for renaming blackbytes. I endorse that name totally. Tony have you seen this idea? Please consider. In fact I'd almost forgotten about blackbytes, they feel extremely neglected at this point like some unwanted skeleton in the closet.  Even though I was very intruigued by them when I first got into byteball. As you rightly point out they are a huge asset and should be promoted at the forefront. Is byteball so focused on proving ID on the DAG now blackbytes would rather be forgotten?

About  the name for bytes to G-Bytes I'm not so keen. Its very close to the symbol for the denomination, of G meaning 1,000,000,000 bytes. Could that not cause confusion? I think the platform could stay as byteball to me. Or maybe 'the byteball platform' HOwever I like that you have made such a clear reminder that bytes are for powering the platform and apps and stuff and that cashbytes (blackbytes) are there to be the cash.

As for the distribution I'm not going to go into it all again in detail I've had my say many times in many different ways earlier in the thread, basically I think I agree with you on that.

Someone posted a site you can compare hashrate recently. Very interesting.

Dash is way above Eth and Ltc. XMR is barely noticeable on this scale. Still a way to go to catch up with bitcoin and bcash however

I cannot see something sneaky when DashForce created the Dashtalk Discord channel.

What about quietly altering an existing proposal which already had majority of yes votes to (sneakily?) bundle in moderation rights for Dashtalk forum?

Also noting that "Dash Talk" official forum has had nothing to do with Dash Force historically. Yet the new Dash Force discord channel is called "Dash Talk" ! And now conveniently they also want to moderate Dash Talk official forum.

Don't you see what I'm getting at? Dash nation has never pretended to be Dash talk. Dash Force is pretending to be Dash Talk. And then quietly attempting to make that happen.

I am not saying Tao of Satoshi should moderate the DashTalk forum or that Dash Force shouldn't but you must admit there are better ways to go about this from Dash Force. The way they are doing it feels . .. can i say sneaky.

sneaky

Whats your thoughts on pivx?

Oh and you forgot to sign your message, how will  I know which demo poster I am in conversation with?

I agree with your sentiments though. Challenging opinions should not be censored. What do you think of the DashTalk sorry DashForce, no DashTalk discord. Anything sneaky there?

Bitcoin

chart

Indicators are exactly in the middle. Bitcoin trying to bust out the thin end of a wedge. I like the upside more than the downside. Everything getting too tight. Big moves coming?

wasnt it a 6510 in the VIC20. it had added some dedicated i/o pins vs the 6502 or something IIRC.

or maybe that was just the C64.. i had both.

fun times but i got more into the TRS-80 line with CP/M and such after.
The 6510 was in the C64. I remember doing a fair bit of assembly and FORTH on the Vic-20, it could do a good bit with what you had. First computer was a TRS80 Model 1 Level 1. I still remember the game "Termites" followed by the game "Introduction to programming".

Wonder about first computers for people here.

i think a nintendo or something..... but my first computer i really use ... is from when i got my first BTC's so as you see and know i come from very very VERY far and still have an extreme far way to go when it comes to computers  Roll Eyes

but i got good guy's around me last years  Grin

My cousin got a ZX81 it had 1K memory. 1 K!!! We typed in the code to run games on it from magazines. It didn't have sound, or colours. Good times though. Showing my age. Ha. My first was the Acorn Electron. I wanted a C64 but my parents  thought the Electron would be more educational. It was a pretty cool computer in its way though. I grew to be a fan. Programming on that as a hobby eventually morphed into my profession

Bitcoin Core contributors Jimmy Song and Greg Maxwell encouraged using credit cards over Bitcoin for purchases, highlighting areas for growth for payments-focused cryptocurrencies.

In a recent tweet, Song, a Bitcoin Core contributor, encouraged users to employ credit cards for purchases and selling Bitcoin to pay off the bill, rather than use it for the payment directly:[/size]

...so they "solved" it. Nevermind that is so opposite to bare idea of bitcoin.

Yeah great solution. Use a credit card for payments.   Roll Eyes
Or. Use DASH  Cool

But wait..  Protection against fraud? I was  a victim of fraud on a localbitcoins transaction, not only no protection, the bank kicked me out. It was quite traumatic, my money frozen for weeks with no explanation. I had no idea what or if I was accused of anything. F*ck the banks. Use Dash

I'm trying to get a handle on the 'censorship' debate.

I understand that :

  • DashNation Discord is moderated by Tao of Satoshi's team.
  • DashTalk  forum is moderated by Tao of Satoshi's team.
  • DashPay subreddit is moderated by Tao of Satoshi's team.
  • Dash Central is moderated by ___ (who?)
  • ANN DASH on btctalk (here) is unmoderated, (ignored by disinterested bitcoin moderators). This is the place for free speech!
  • DashTalk on Discord (part of DashForce) is moderated by DashForce team.

Am I right with all this? Who moderates Dash Central ? Have I missed any others?

So on with some random thoughts. Too many places with the same moderation team is not ideal. For examle If you as a poster are unhappy with censorship by Tao of Satoshi's team you are effectively unhappy with the 3 main places to talk Dash. In my view the rule about stating speculation as fact might have a good intent behind it but is annoying many users and most often is very subjective how to interpret. It has been a winning formula in Tao's own Dash Nation area. This doesn't mean it is also right for reddit and Dash forum.

The new 'Dash Talk' on discord can be confused with 'Dash Talk' official forum. This seems underhanded doesn't it?Why are they named so similarly? Its llke Dash Force are trying to affiliate themselves with Dash Talk official forum and give extra legitimacy to their own discord channel. Also  I have been lead to believe they are trying to take control of the moderation of Dash Talk forum via a silent change to an already existing proposal. Can I say underhanded again.

The problems are that Tao of Satoshi has spread his reach too far which is not unexectedly drawing comparisons to a dictator and accusations of censorship (controlling all major discussion platforms).
Dash Force appear to be making power grab to take away some of that power, which is fair enough I suppose but doing so in what appear to be sneaky ways via a back door.

All this time when I thought user demo was just a moneron trying to spread the usual FUD. When in fact there are real issues

What is the solution to this mess?

For starters I would like to see Dash Force act more openly, they are not shining themselves in a good light here. Their discord channel should be called Dash Force Discord. They should not try to sneakily obtain moderation rights for other forums. If anyone is acting consistently and with dignity it is Tao. I wonder if a seperate team from both should be created to moderate the official forum? Anyone have the answers?

With regards to who moderates Dash Central, that would be rango who actually owns Dash Central. He rarely moderates Dash Central, although he did make it so that only masternode owners and whitelisted persons could comment on budget proposals,
after it got a bit out of hand with trolls commenting on budget proposals in Dash Central.

I dont remember rango doing much personal moderation, except for the time when he banned one of iCEBREAKER's poppet accounts, together with denying Icey access to Dash Central remote monitoring and restart scripts due to Icey's consistent use of profanity (using blasphemous or obscene language).
Icey was asked to remove his masternodes from Dash Central as well, if i remember correctly.

With regards to Dash Nation, i find Tao and TroyDASH completely transparant and honest. Not only with the budget proposal, but also with the answers they provide in the comments. People may disagree with Dash Nation's moderation style (the 10 rules and with Tao as end-responsible for his moderation team), but it has been clear from the start what it exactly involves. The Dash Nation moderator team includes some well known and respected community members as well :

TroyDash
Splawik21
jeffh
solarguy
Arthyron
MooCowMoo
JGCMiner
DeltaEngine
krish
ThisMustBeTrue

With regards to Dash Force i find them lacking transparancy, lacking in communication and i lost my trust in them after they updated their own Dash Force budget proposal to suddenly include agreeing to a Dash Force moderation style change on Dash Reddit and Dash.org/forum.
Mind you that their Dash Force budget proposal was running for many weeks already, garnered a lot of support (i also voted yes somewhere in august on this specific Dash Force proposal) and out of nowhere they introduced a few days ago this new moderator style that had nothing to do with
their original Dash Force operation costs / activities proposal. I feel like they abused my vote this way. They should have just made a seperate polling proposal on such an important topic as a change in moderation style on Dash forums, instead they went this rather shady / sneaky way.

With regards to demo : i think he gets more credit then he deserves. I have little doubt demo will manage to break even Dash Force rules, when it comes to posting and behaving on a public forum. I saw him once upload a picture from PIVX.org through his demo16 account, so i think he comes from the PIVX community.

I dont really see a solution for the moderation style that Dash Force wants and the moderation style that Dash Nation currently provides. I just know that the Dash Nation moderation style worked well on their own Dash Nation Discord channel and masternodes did vote affirmative to have this moderation style & rules extended to Dash Reddit and Dash.org/forum. There was overwhelming support for.

Thanks for that comprehensive response qwizzie

A yes from me. Its a shame this proposal is struggling. Regardless if you agree or disagree to other moderation /censorship issues, Dash Nation 'is' an asset to the community.
