941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 27, 2017, 09:18:01 AM
Wow trolling is very active lately. Monero team worried Dash is poised for a nice bull run I think.

But seriously why compare Dash to Madoff? You might as well compare Dash to the number of cows in Switzerland for all the relevance that has. The growth of Dash looks nothing like that. At all. Btw.

Because, you can't base an investment solely on the fact that it has performed well in the past.  You need to base it on something tangible that you expect to happen in the future that will help your investment grow.

I´m very sorry Solarminer, you probably don´t care at all but I´m sad to group you with monero trolls.

/ignore

He is a monero troll.........

The reason I dont go near Monero is because of all their trolling on this very thread. I don't see Maidsafe people popping up here endlessly spreading FUD about Dash for example, neither AMP, nor ETH, nor any other crypto of which there are hundreds. Only Monero. Its offputting to their own currency, and its plain sad.

The thing is the trolls here know all this, and fear it, or they wouldnt be here. Do you really think  they are here because they want to help us avoid a scam?

That's one thing I never quite understood about the trolls here, because it is so obvious, but on the other hand it worked to a degree. The Instamine Meme is as persistent as it is irrelevant and false.

Thanks to all the trolling I consider that I understand the events of the launch in rather a lot of detail which otherwise I wouldn't have so the positive aspect is it keeps everything transparent. Also it bumps this thread keeping it near the top. And is paid for by a generous bounty of XMR so no need to use any Dash budget for these valuable services. LOL

Well thats true I guess. As for myself I'm basing it on whats Dash has done in the past, (incentivised nodes, two tier network, instant send, private send...) and what its doing now (growing the network, financing multiple projects via the budget system, maintaining and growing value, market cap etc), and the potential I see and the vision of Dash Evolution, bringing a user experience to the masses. And so on.

The thing is the trolls here know all this, and fear it, or they wouldnt be here. Do you really think  they are here because they want to help us avoid a scam?

Thats quite a bullish post from you Afrikoin! Do you have a target for a top?

I'm surprised anyone has taken the vote to increase Dash blocksize literally the real motivation was very obvious. Personally I didn't really like that proposal but I can see why it was done, there was an opportunity to contrast favourably against bitcoin and it was taken.

Wait a minute. Rewind ... !!!!

Mixed coins are distinguishable from unmixed!? What? Can anyone share some more information about this?

I find this whole debate very disheartening to be honest. Its all about how can we comply with whatever fucking insane laws the psychopaths in charge dream up, rather than how can we do what we want privately if we choose.

Well, I think you'll be able to guess they are if they come from inputs of denominated amounts, like 10.001, 1.001 etc...  Despite a bunch of clueless gov people trying to stir up a stink, I don't think they'll get anywhere, LOL.  That plus a clueless reporter reporting.  In the end, it'll all be hot air when deeper minds make decisions.  I just laugh at these reports now.

Thanks for your reply TanteStefana sets my mind at ease a little, was worried there was something else.

It doesn't matter if you like Dash, Bitcoin or even Monero. The Dutch trying to crack down on privacy is a big thing. People attempting to keep their own private business private is nothing to do with the police of any country. Totalitarian superstate trying to edge ever closer to full control. This is something that should unite people from various breeds of crypto. Icebreaker are you with us?

I agree, but do we really have to take ol' Icy with us?  Can't we leave him at home?  Please?  We can sneak out when he's on the toilet, no?

Yes I think better to leave the icetroll out on second thoughts. His response to my same post doesn't dignify an answer.

I think for the first time in their life they realized what their fiat money real value is and what that's value of financial freedom.

Lol, what?  I'm sorry you couch potatoes, but buying Bitcoin does not give you financial freedom.  Fighting a war with an AR15 against whoever is trying to take your financial freedom is how you get financial freedom.  Just like the days of the revolutionary war, you will probably have to get off your couch at some point.  There is no mouse click shortcut to freedom.  Even metals holders get worried about the government trying to confiscate or legislate against metals in some way.  TPTB can impede the usage of Bitcoin about 5 billion times easier than metals, so you are definitely not getting freedom by smoking some stuff out of a bong and clicking something on Coinbase.

You don't understand how disruptive technologies work.

Please, can you not mindlessly repeat Antonopolous slogans like they actually mean something?  Antonopolous is just a salesman or religious evangelist.  The internet isn't some wild west where you can get away with whatever you want.  The state rules the internet and most sectors of the globe are censored already.  There are only two endgames for bitcoin, either the state bans it or co-opts it.  The mining pools are such enormous physical attack vectors that they can shut down Bitcoin just as easily in the physical domain as the digital one even if you were able to magically camouflage all your Bitcoin packets.

So we already know the state can easily wipe out Bitcoin if they want.  The next option is of course co-opting it.  To do this, all they're going to do like I said before, is create a static address, alias system wrapper that goes around Bitcoin and sign laws that you're forced to use it or be considered a criminal launderer.  Then once they have everyone on-boarded, they will divorce the alias system away from the native Bitcoin unit into their regular old fiat system run by the state with the bonus that they were also able to ban cash in the process to totally lock you in their system.

For the 5000th fucking time, Ted Kaczynsky was right and increasing technology always leads to loss of freedom.  There is no way around it whatsoever no matter what your original intention was.  The only way you're getting any freedom is by operating solely in the physical space (transacting in a fungible substance like metals), not digital, because the state never has the resources to monitor every square inch of the earth, but they can easily do so for the digital space!

All you're really doing is making it easier for the state to enslave and destroy you.  Bitcoin came out before the era of them trying to ban cash at every second of the day.  The thing you should be afraid of right now isn't the possibility of a bitcoin ban, it's the fact they aren't trying to ban bitcoin at all!

I'm also a fan of gold and silver they are after all a recognised store of value throughout history, I see bitcoin as speculative and higher risk. For me the answer is to own all of those, and on occasion switch some when ratios look favorable.

The state may react in either of those ways of banning or co-opting but either attempt may fail. There is no certainty they can pull either off successfully. It could be they haven't tried to either yet because if they do but their attempt fails people will see the emperor has no clothes.  And their grip on control will start slipping away. Look how already they are losing control of media, more and more seeing it for what it is.

952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 16, 2017, 11:35:24 PM
Just read about last 10 pages of this thread and reminded again just how superb the quality of discussion is here in the Dash community. Thanks especially Toknormal and others in that recent conversation a few pages back.

I have an observation to share which is connected to the way I sometimes hear talk about DASH aiming to take the throne away and replace Bitcoin.

If any of you are familiar with open source operating systems for computers I see an analogy with Debian and Ubuntu which are two popular Linux operating systems. Just as Ubuntu uses the Debian code base to add extra functions to the operating system over Debian. Dash uses the bitcoin code base to a similar effect. This it is a powerful feature of open source software that code can be freely used and modified. However Ubuntu does not try to portray itself as the operating system which will kill Debian.

In the case of Ubuntu it has successfully become more popular than Debian though (at least last time I checked) and perhaps the same may happen eventually with Dash over Bitcoin. However it seems to me that one needs to bear in mind that Dash depends on Bitcoin code. At least as I understand it Dash incorporates latest bitcoin core development into its own codebase. Therefore I'm assuming Dash wants bitcoin to remain solid, reliable, popular and maintained etc otherwise have to take on the extra burden of the core 'bitcoin' type development itself.

Going back to Toks comments a few pages back there was one in which he stated blockchains strength is as a capital asset not a payment system I think it was, which I am in complete agreement with. In light of this perhaps bitcoin being likened to gold is the better strategy afterall ?

Anyway just sharing a few random musings when I should actually be asleep. As for me, my favourite crytos are Bitcoin and Dash, I'm not ready to abandon Bitcoin any time soon myself.

Back then the US government was selling thousands of bitcoin taken from silk road in auctions. That was an oversupply and price dropped. Thats not happening now

I'm thinking blue line and a disapointing 2017 myself, or perhaps pink
956  Economy / Speculation / What lies ahead in 2017 on: January 06, 2017, 01:29:56 PM
I looked at some tea leaves and I drew a few squiggly lines on this chart.

What do you think, which line fits best ?

NOTE : I've edited this post a lot since the original post which only had the blue line on it. Apologies for that.

EDIT : Added poll
957  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would you consider a new ATH? on: January 05, 2017, 12:52:20 AM
Gox was the biggest exchange at the time and the place everyone used as a proxy for bitcoin price so I go with the GOX price (at least for in US$ )

but the only reason for the premium was that you couldn't get dollars out of it. that doesn't exactly do a bunch for its credibility as a price setter.

My understanding is that that happened after the all time high not before. I never used GOX myself but did refer to its charts. Towards the end it was unreliable as a price indicator but at the time of the all time high it was still legit

Full blocks = bullish  Grin
959  Economy / Speculation / Re: Critical Levels - EW analysis on: January 04, 2017, 11:56:57 PM
We have reached the targets for iii of (iii), it could go higher before wave iv stagnation and then v of (iii) could take us much higher still, my guess is $1500 or so. Then we will have wave III, IV and V which

What does that actually mean ? I don't even know if bullish or bearish lol

My impression of EW is that it is always short term bullish, medium VERY bearish, then long term bullish again. Am I close ?  Wink

stamp shows who is da boss, if they dont wanna move, they dont move.

pretty sure the chinese exchanges are the bosses tbh.

its actual a very interesting situation at the moment. lets see who will win, either stamp rising or china coming back.

kinda feels like china is pushing its price high, so coins from the west make there way onto their exchanges.

A bit like how gold is flowing over there too
