1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash aiming for new all time highs on: May 22, 2016, 09:27:01 AM
On weekly chart, still a way to go to reach ATH but growth looks nice and steady so far
(ATH meaning priced in bitcoin, not sure how it would look in US$)

1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash aiming for new all time highs on: May 22, 2016, 09:22:42 AM
On day chart we see a nice steady rise since breaking up from the wedge. However I guess we'll see another correction at some point.

If you delete the file with something like "rm debug.log", the linux will not free up the space until after all processes that are running have been stopped.

So, you need to do something like "> debug.log" which will free up the space while the program is running.

Someone answered this in the past couple of pages with a cron entry that will do what you want without you having to manually do it.

Any dash experts recommend how to handle debug.log getting too big. Is it safe to just delete while the daemon is running ?

I have answered this a few post above: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg14912605#msg14912605

Thanks guys surprised I didn't see that, I normally try to keep up with this thread
1105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nights Watch by Afrikoin on: May 21, 2016, 06:33:48 PM
I don't go in for Elliot wave stuff myself for me trend still looks bullish, although with short term bearish pressure and yet again another wedge constraining the action.

1106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash aiming for new all time highs on: May 21, 2016, 06:06:48 PM
well its going to be a good time to buy once it collapse. DASH is a good investment as its also going to move up this halving just like the rest of the wanna be gurus said.

there will never be a good time to buy a scam coin that will have a superior version released through fairer means.
Once this happens dash will be finished. There will be no recovery.

Dash isn't a scam

1108  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ethereum scammers trying to suppress BTC till they find someone to Dump Eth on on: May 21, 2016, 01:10:00 PM
I've never felt the lure of Eth myself, so pretty much unaffected by it. My feelings are that its blockchain is going to be too big too quick, I don't like proof of stake and in general its not scarce enough to be an excellent store of value. I realise that eth is not meant to be a store of value but is fuel to run a world computer or something. meh. Bitcoin is still the king as far as I'm concerned. Like a sleeping dragon. Only pretender is Dash which has attributes of bitcoin that I like with many other interesting innovations into the mix.
1109  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's over for the shills and bears - BTC market cap about to explode on: May 18, 2016, 08:05:14 AM
@jared;
I know as well as you do that me trying to talk my book gets nothing done in the grand scheme of things, so you can take your theory about me and shove it straight up your ass. I don't talk my agenda, I say what I believe is going to happen. As I said above, I have been long more than not, and the whole time still conveyed my views.

Have a nice day, douchebags! Smiley

I wasn't necessarily referring to you, RyNinDaCleM. Although I've certainly read highly questionable content from you before, but that's neither here nor there.

As far as labeling yourself bearish in your signature, that's HIGHLY suspect.  Discounting mega flash-crashes or short-term corrections which are temporary in the grand scheme of things and can happen at any time, anyone mid-to-long-term bearish in bitcoin with all of the growth bicoin has achieved and two months prior to a supply halving that takes place once every four years either has an agenda or are a few fries short of a happy meal

I'll explain for anyone wondering, again.
Maybe this post should be pinned so that I'm not called a troll or shill (whatever the hell that means).

It should not be suspect that I have a bearish stance for a midterm time frame. I have had the same view (with minor alterations along the way) for 2 years. I had my thread where I forecasted lower low after lower low on the way down to $152. I then posted a chart that has made its way through a few posts and quoted by others which resembled this count and expected path. It has changed very little over the last year except as I said in an earlier post here, about the time it has taken.

That is what I would call a mid term outlook. Since $152, I was short-mid term bullish for the duration of my proposed (B) wave. Longer-mid term bearish, and since day one in 2011, Bullish long term on the ideas of Bitcoin. Bitcoin being number one, but never 100% convinced that it would be the final iteration of blockchain tech. Awesome if it is, but myspace was cool until it wasn't. We all know Bitcoin has its problems and I would be ecstatic if they were fixed so that an "altcoin" doesn't replace it.
My longer mid term PoV can still change, but NOTHING as of yet has me questioning my stance and projection for my proposed remainder of the correction since $1200. I could never be ranked with the likes of the falllling crowd or one of the multitude of 5 rand char users that grace this board daily with one liner OP's. I always (99% of the time) give thoughtful responses and rational reasoning to my views. Perhaps my definition of "rational" is different from yours, but as someone who has very little at risk in either direction we head next, I feel that I have an unbiased opinion. Granted it is often bearish for a long while now, but that is only because my analysis tells me so. I'm not bearish because I want to be, I am because it's what my experience tells me.

As far as halving, It is something that is a known, and has been since January 3, 2009 when Satoshi released the white paper. With 70%+ coins already having been mined, halving has no substantial bearing on anything except a speculation value and as proof of a slowing of inflation. Unless demand rises, halving makes no difference other than to those who make a profit on verifying transactions. Difficulty can drop too! Underwater miners is what can make that happen. I know the chart above isn't what anyone here wants to see, nor is it one they want to believe. It's my take, and halving isn't a guarantee that it won't happen just the same as I don't guarantee that my forecast will happen.

Sorry for the wall of text Smiley

Nice post RyNinDaCleM and although I am more bullish than you I do recognise there is a possiblity you describe. Some other blockchain could end up bigger than bitcoin. At the moment though I still see no real contender, bitcoin is still king and eth isn't it.
1110  Economy / Speculation / Re: Real Satoshi and Bitcoin Price on: May 17, 2016, 09:01:40 PM
I doubt the real Satoshi would want to harm bitcoin. Its his creation his legacy. The genesis block had a message about banks doing QE I think. Why would he seek to destroy his creation ?
1111  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen to the price of bitcoin after block halving..?? on: May 17, 2016, 08:43:20 PM
I'm thinking large bubble but not only due to halving, also other social and economic factors too. The world shows increasing stress originating from globalist / centralist ideals and a huge push to a global world order. Manifestations of this are failing economies, debt enslavement of entire nations, capital controls and strangely rising stock markets. But when the stress gets too much, markets may fail, people may seek refuge from capital controls. Bitcoin is great due to its scarcity, it holds value and it will be more scarce after the halving just when demand as safe haven may escalate. So anyway, due to these sorts of intuitions I hold bitcoin and expect big things

Yes a good read Smiley
1113  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are the implications of this? on: May 17, 2016, 08:28:17 PM
Spike was Craig Wright, 80% sure of that.

As for the actual implications, chances are nothing is going to come out of this. It was some people interested in Bitcoin because chances are they had no idea what it was, but I highly, highly doubt that we'll see anything more come out of this than maybe some people joining the community because of their interest in the technology or the community (or making money).

I doubt something will happen, but you never know.

That was 1 month ago. The mainstream is surely very slow to catch on. There must be some other news.

Maybe venezuela or brazil economic problems, who knows. Or just some service opened up in a country and people get interested.

I'm thinking its that creator of bitcoin story. Even my mum came to me saying she'd heard something about the bitcoin creator being found
1114  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's over for the shills and bears - BTC market cap about to explode on: May 17, 2016, 08:20:32 PM
Hey Roach nice thread. Reading your OP has made me ponder if banks could turn to bitcoin as a way of wrong footing china. As many know I'm sure China has been accumulating most of the worlds gold recently. Could it be the west has a secret plan to ignore gold and turn to bitcoin instead ?

Anyway just letting my thoughts meander along. Still like gold and bitcoin personally
1115  Economy / Speculation / Re: There is an epic shakeout coming this year before the giga-spike. on: May 17, 2016, 08:05:24 PM
Yes I remember that shake out when silk road was busted , https://afbitcoins.wordpress.com/2013/10/02/silk-road-seized/

Something similar could happen again but I'm not counting on it happy to hold what i have rather than waiting for a panic to buy cheap

edit: I think the difference now compared to then is that bitcoin is no longer dominated by one market (silk road) and one exchange (mt gox). Bitcoin has grown and these sort of major events have less impact now.
1116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DASH] Dash Price and Trade Discussion Thread on: May 16, 2016, 01:16:14 PM
Dash/BTC on log scale shows a wedge has broken upwards. MACD bullish cross over recently too. Looks like this leg upwards potentially has a good way to go

1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash aiming for new all time highs on: May 16, 2016, 01:10:34 PM
DASH/BTC on log scale looking very healthy for Dash to have another leg upwards

Main thing I'm looking at it is the wedge formed by two trendlines which has broken upwards. I like that the lower upwards sloping trendline is providing support multiple times. Other supporting evidence is bullish cross up on MACD indicator and that RSI is not yet showing overbought.

But the main reason its going up is that I just sold a bunch the other day :/

1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Monero's Problem? on: May 16, 2016, 11:13:01 AM
One of Monero's biggest problems is that they have attracted a load of trolls into their community. This is one of the really offputting things for me
1120  Economy / Speculation / Re: to those doubting the potential halving mega-bubble.... on: May 13, 2016, 06:48:48 PM
Mega bubble will not only be due to halving. Bitcoin is being taken seriously as a safe haven, like gold only less suppressed. When (not if) next financial crisis hits bitcoin will benefit and then some. Bitcoin halving of supply will only be adding rocket fuel to the already explosive mix
