1141  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ultimate Hodlers only thread - do you have a dollar price in mind? on: April 21, 2016, 03:37:44 PM
Nobody can really give a good estimate on that because there's way too many variables.  For instance, the upswing always tends to overshoot, so even if you weren't optimistic and believed the price could only hold stable at $800, it would probably still reach 900-1000 for a while.  But once it broke $1000, the media would unload about 5 million Bitcoin stories that would FOMO it higher.  The second you break both old ATH and gold price, here comes more media stories and it happens all over again, then up to like $1400-1600 you go.

There will obviously be some people shorting at $800, and there will obviously be people trying to short squeeze them there.  Anyone shorting there is pretty much an idiot since there's plenty of entities with 100 mil in the bank in Bitcoin that may or may not attempt to strongarm you at that point, so you might as well be throwing darts at a dartboard.  Never try to short a breakout trend.  God, shorters are idiots.

So yea, I figure there will likely be an attempted short squeeze to $1000 or more, and if BTC manages to break ATH, then all bets are off and you can get into just insane numbers.  For the most bearish scenarios, I think it will still go over 800.  It's just too hard to call when all you have to do is break old ATH for literally one nanosecond, either through the normal market or a short squeeze to put you into an entirely new ballgame.

The real question to ask yourself is, at what levels do you think the market would be overextended and you would want to temporarily dump at?  The answer to that question is, there would be no point to do so at 800. At 1000, the media is pumping it for you and you're in easy striking distance of ATH and insane FOMO, so still no point in selling anything.  If you hit 1200, well, at that point the press coverage is going to be so big it will be forcing central bankers to consider adding it to bank reserves again like so:  http://www.coindesk.com/barbados-central-bank/

All I can say is, keep holding unless you see a triple top that's far above $1200 - shout out to In-Q-Tel, Larry Summers, and the Chicoms who will be helping pump.

This is sort of along my thoughts too. I don't have a dollar price in mind but hopefully I'll recognise signs of a top when we reach it. And I expect it to rise significantly above the current all time high.

I'm confused by this. In easy to understand way, what links XUSD price to fiat US$ ?

Gradually then a bit steeper then steeper still until its a rocket ship  gently floating up through space

And that is based on ....?

Really, without anything to back it up, your post is just spam.

My opinion has not changed, you can look up my old buried 'bitcoin primed' thread if you are really curious to know more why i think that
1144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is ready to gently float upwards on: April 14, 2016, 08:26:59 PM
I think there is plenty of evidence to suggest bitcoin is still the king of crypto, the reserve currency of crypto. Also arguably a better safe haven than gold due to being less manipulated. I think I will see new all time highs not only in my lifetime but quite possible within a year from now.

Just my opinion Smiley
1145  Economy / Speculation / Re: will the halving effect alt coin on: April 14, 2016, 08:23:11 PM
Generally, when bitcoin's price rises the effect on altcoin markets is positive, with exceptions of course. But there are solid arguements that the halving is already priced in, so the no price increase is certain.

what are the arguments its already priced in?

i think theres a long way up from here, halving hasn't even happened yet.
1146  Economy / Speculation / Re: will the halving effect alt coin on: April 13, 2016, 10:30:16 PM
Heres my opinion. If bitcoin goes on to have a giant speculative bubble similar to past ones. First there will be a giant sucking sound as alts all fall in value when bitcoin really starts rising. At some point alts will be too undervalued compared to bitcoin and start their own bubble rises. Some alts will rise more in percentage terms than bitcoin with bigger relative gains. The alts having their own bubbles will pop first, followed by bitcoin.

Just noticed I'm legendary now

Oh yeah

 Cool  Cool  Cool
1149  Economy / Speculation / Re: Max Keiser promoting Bitcoin on: April 06, 2016, 09:23:27 PM
Why all the hating on Max?

He had an alt coin, so f*cking what. Open source is there to be cloned, modified, used as anyone wants. You could make one too if you want. You bought some because he told you to. You idiot.

He was promoting bitcoin well before it even hit $100. He advocates a return to sound money and protecting your weath via gold, silver and bitcoin. (which I 100% agree with) He highlights acts of financial terrorism. He is doing a service. For god sake give him a break.

Thanks for the link Hyena, it was a good episode.

Why does the electrum client need a network of nodes? Isn't that exactly what masternodes already provide ?

Heres a first stab at drawing some lines on chart. Will this channel hold?

1154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: predict the date of the 2016 halving on: March 23, 2016, 01:13:53 AM
i put july 4th but admit heavily influenced by the bitcoin clock which I thought was gospel.

Honestly I don't think exact date matters at all, although its a fun idea for a thread and some conversation. The speculative bubble may appear some time after (or before) that date. Real economic impact of supply halving will be felt much later after speculative bubble has collapsed and new value found.
1155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Invest in BTC and have a healthy wealth in future. State your specualtions. on: March 23, 2016, 01:08:06 AM
My preference is to hold bitcoin and Dash but I recognise crypto as potential high reward or high loss so also hold precious metal and cash as safer bet. Currency held in the bank is biggest risk. I view stock market as way overvalued and hold none of that

Looking at Dash charts on 1 day timescale I think we're due a correction.

Longer term bullish of course

1158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BLOCKS ARE FULL!!!! on: March 22, 2016, 04:28:02 PM
Anyone know how long are transactions taking just now? I withdrew bitcoin from an exchange a few hours ago and still no sign of it at all.

I did transactions from some exchange to my Core wallet recently, and minutes after confirming my withdraw, it appeared on my wallet as unconfirmed, so I had to do is wait. After a while, I had a couple of confirmations and the BTC was added to my final amount.

I don't know what the hell you guys are doing to have so many problems. Just pay a decent fee and wait for it, it's not like you are going to lose the money.

The exchange set the fee not me, i had no control over that !  Angry

Anyway, seemed to take longer than usual but its in my wallet now happy to report.

@tok...

How do the eth charts look today? Decent drop this early morning and order book looks really thin on the buy side.

Well I got my stop-loss taken out through the night so I don't think I'll touch it again now. Spectator sport only from now on  Wink Also, all the charts are turning pretty grim. I think people are stuck up there just hoping enough buy liquidity will turn up to let them escape.

What will probably happen is it will sink down a bit then get a pump, then sink some more etc..

How many coins has Dash seen rise and fall? Throughout all of the reckless volitility around it, Dash remains stable, with incremental gain after incremental gain. Because of the dual-market stabilizing effect, this really is a great project for investors.

I agree totally Tao, when I'm dabbling day trading i don't feel safe holding anything other than btc or dash. Dash feels like a reserve currency for me.
