1061  Economy / Speculation / Re: Brexit/Bremain on: June 22, 2016, 10:27:07 PM
I think brexit has had an effect on markets such as gold and bitcoin, not to mention relevant fiat markets too. Gold / bitcoin up when exit looks likely, fiat up when remain looks likely. But in bitcoin there is the halving also influencing it and probably moreso than the brexit vote. At the very least brexit referendum has increased volatility

I will vote leave.

My rescan finally finished. But looks like it was broadcast afterall because the transaction is still there but now has its first confirmation. Maybe I need to up my fee next time ? This is sooo slow maybe tomorrow it will be confirmed.

Anyway thanks Spwalik, Wasted and Tok

edit: it jumped quick to 5 of 6 confirmations in last few mins. Maybe the rescan jumpstarted it somehow ?

Blimey rescan takes ages (on my creaky old hardware at least)

Currently 89%

Its the bitcoin-core wallet

Long time since I used that. It surely should show you the address just by double clicking on the alias or something like that.

Also, there should be a command to execute form the "Debug" command line - like GetAddressGroupings or something that dumps all the addresses.

Somebody will pipe up that knows it.

Goto Transactions and look at the properties of the the item in question.   If it was broadcasted it would say something like "Broadcasted transaction across x nodes" or something like that.   If it has not been broadcasted, it would either say Offline or transaction not yet broadcasted.      Once it is broadcasted from your wallet, you should be able to use either address (or the transaction id) to find it through blockchain.info.
He can always resubmit the rawtransaction too.

Rescanning, 34% through so far! Have a feeling this is what i was looking for. Thanks for the help. Dash thread is the best bit of the bitcoin forum Smiley

Hmm maybe time to think about a different wallet. Do you recommend one?
Anyway I'll keep looking into it. And have now opened a support ticket with polo. Cheers

Tok thanks for your patience. How do you find out the originating address?

What wallet client are you using ?

Wondered if any in the Dash community have experience this. I attempted to deposit bitcoin on poloniex several hours ago from my own wallet. It is not showing anywhere on block exploerer or on polo, but it looks like it has left my wallet! What should i do ?

Did you check the originating address balance on block explorer ? You should be able to see where it went. There's quite a big backlog again - probably due to the correction. Did you bump the fee ? https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

Agree with toknormal that dash looks primed for a nice bull run.

Will be nice to see it break up through the top of this fork

1071  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is the bull run that doesn't end.. on: June 16, 2016, 09:07:36 PM
A bit of euphoria creeping in. Nearly time to sell ?
1072  Economy / Speculation / Re: Oldtimers, how does this rally make you feel? on: June 16, 2016, 09:02:51 PM
Yes been through it all before, I think we are still in the preliminaries. But starting to check bitcoin price a little bit more frequently again I admit
1073  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Primed on: June 16, 2016, 11:04:43 AM
When I opened this thread bitcoin was at about $320, now almost doubled and still going up. Finally the big moves I was predicting back then are happening as forecast, a little later but not much than I expected.

So how high will this spike go? A brief spike above $1000 is possible, followed by lots of doubt and fall in price before the real speculative bubble then begins. Lets see

1074  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the mempool being jammed solid for a few days now good or bad for the price? on: June 15, 2016, 09:53:01 PM
This is all you need to know about the so called "mempool problem":

In any system with no minimum transaction fee, the blocks will always be full even if you raised block size to 10 gigs.  All that matters is what the price to get included in a block is, but no blockchain is suitable for microtransactions in the first place.  Even with 10 MB blocks, all small transactions would be pushed off-chain onto things like the shift card or second tier solutions like Lightning Network.  It will never be economical to do microtransactions (buying a pack of cigarettes) using a blockchain.  Blockchains are only suitable for high value transactions or settlement layer.

And yet I can transfer 50p worth of Litecoin within 60 seconds.

Because nobody is using Litecoin for anything, so if people actually started to use it, you'd have the same problem.  Then if you keep expanding out to another coin with the sole purpose of getting "cheap" microtransactions to buy cigarettes, you'd end up with 1000 low hashrate, dead or insecure chains.  Blockchains aren't viable for microtransactions, only for high value transactions or settlement network.  You can also build 2nd tier solutions on top of it like Lightning Network for microtransactions.

To use an altcoin for payment the other party needs to want to have it in exchange, litecoin might have people who want to have some. But you can't use any old alt if no-one wants to exchange it. So I guess as fees become too high in one coin another will become more desirable which has lower fees by natural market forces.
1075  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we crack the ATH very soon? on: June 14, 2016, 01:42:17 PM
There can easily be another correction before the push past all time high. But yes ATH will be cracked 'soon'.
1076  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2016 will be a boring year for bitcoin on: June 13, 2016, 11:36:59 PM
Yawn... so boring

Excellent opening post, thanks for sharing that.
1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash aiming for new all time highs on: June 13, 2016, 03:54:45 PM
Well prediction looked good at time of last post but no all time highs on the horizon for now. Trend has flipped bearish. This will be my final post of this thread

Dash may rebound up against bitcoin somewhere around here (at the bottom of this fork), but trend now bearish and probably will remain so for a while while the whole bitcoin halving mania begins to unfold. At some stage other alts including Dash will be carried up too but no sign of that at the moment.

In consolation against fiat I think Dash holding up quite well.

1080  Economy / Speculation / Re: $32,300 --- How much $$ I sunk into bitcoin since Oct 2013 on: June 13, 2016, 12:29:44 PM
I bought lower than that and not selling any for quite a long time yet, happy with the amount I have and have no need to sell.

I think this move might be similar to the spike up to $500 a few months ago but starting at a higher level. I think the real bubble when it hits maybe next year or year after will be breathtaking.
