1101  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: August 09, 2013, 09:49:20 PM
Jeez guys.. 4 pages of off-topic discussion since I posted my question regarding the error I got this afternoon...

Website is still broken and doesn't show shipping costs.. Is there anyone from hashfast here that can explain this failure?

What I see from the screenshot earlier is almost 800$ for shipping, I hope that's not correct cuz I could almost pick it up myself from Europe for that amount..

I'm not ready to call it a scam (yet) but I've seen better customer support... (even from BFL Tongue)

Hi All,

We outsourced our web development, and got stung with a hopelessly underpowered shared solution. Combined with the bitpay integration issues this has caused a host of problems. John is working with a new web developer to bring up the site on a new dedicated server.

The shipping quotes we are using come from an automated calculator of shipping cost - we are not making any profit on shipping. If we are able to negotiate a better deal with the shippers we will refund you the difference in shipping cost. Of course we also welcome you to come and pick up your order in person.

Hey Simon,

Let me be the first one to recommend foxycart! Lukestokes who is part of the foxycart team is here at bitcointalk! I have been using them for almost a couple years! Bitpay / Bitcoin supported!

I think its important who you choose to work with be it a spokesman or a marketing firm and even a design team.! You only get one chance to make a first impression. If you are lucky and get another chance to leave an impression i would go to extreme lengths to make sure you are being represented in the manor that is reflective of your commitment to your customers as well as your bottom line. I think there is a balance somewhere in there that can be met that can provide a pain free and seamless experience for customers.

The whole marketing fiasco and the twitter account and the privacy policy and now the down shopping cart as well as a not so graceful spokesperson is reflective and could be avoided.

Hi everyone,

Again, I personally apologize for the difficulty many of you had in placing an order with us yesterday. The integration between BitPay and our shopping cart did not operate smoothly, and the sales volume overwhelmed it.

This is what we are doing to fix it:

 1) We have a record of everyone who attempted to make a purchase. We will individually contact those people to give each one the option of completing their purchase (and preserving their place in line for delivery of the earliest units, as per the timestamp in their order)

 2) Many of you have felt that the shipping costs were too high. We will find a better/cheaper solution, and refund the difference. It is absolutely not our intention to make a profit on shipping costs. If you have completed a transaction, and feel that the shipping costs were too high, please submit a ticket to support@hashfast.com.

 3) We are working hard to improve and test the new site and payment processing options. In the meantime, if you would like to make a purchase with us directly, you can email us at sales@hashfast.com. Please include your name, address and a phone number where we can reach you. We will work on these purchase requests in the order that they are received (and provide each person with a place in the delivery line,  per the timestamp of their email)

Our team is working diligently to get these issues resolved. We appreciate your patience.

If you have completed an order and have questions, please contact support@hashfast.com
If you have not yet completed an order and would like to do so, please contact sales@hashfast.com

Thank you,
John Skrodenis
HashFast

Glad to see you guys are on top of this.. I was just posting a response to simon when i saw your post.

Good Luck!!

KNC just announced a November price of less than 5000 USD

Not only that but they said the 400ghs was the guarantee but the miners will do a "considerable" amount better!!

1102  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: August 09, 2013, 04:22:55 AM
From the ToS:

Quote
Except for delivery dates explicitly guaranteed in the order confirmation, delivery dates communicated or acknowledged by Hashfast are approximate only
Quote
Buyer will give Hashfast written notice of failure to deliver and thirty (30) days within which to cure, unless the order confirmation explicitly guarantees a delivery date
Quote
Buyer’s sole and exclusive remedy after such cure period or guaranteed delivery date is to cancel Huh the affected and undelivered portions of the order.
Quote
No order, Agreement or any part thereof may be rescheduled or cancelled without Hashfast’s prior written consent.

So!
- How may I get a guaranteed delivery date while ordering, please ?
- In case you fail to deliver, will you cover for the post fees needed to send you a written notice ?
- In case I cancel my order, can I hope for a refund ?
- In case I cancel my order after you failed to deliver at a guaranteed date and you don't agree to send a written consent to acknowledge that cancellation, what happens ?

Exactly.  What's that about getting written consent from Hashfast to cancel an order?? Basically it's a nice way to say "No. I don't issue refunds (but perhaps only if I feel like but who knows maybe or maybe not)" More than discretionary: completely uncertain, random and obscure.

So until they are actually upfront, transparent and serious enough on those fundamental policies my money is glued to my pocket.

Stay away and Stay clear another Avalon and Butterfly in the making !! They can delivers as late as they want ... You have ZERO "0" protection !!

I got two words... "ah man!"
1103  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 08, 2013, 06:24:25 AM

Wow! Thanks for the great review!

In a world of paid and fake reviews, these mean so much to us. Mind if we add it to our site's testimony section?

Hey Luke!

Yeah we have been using it for a little under two years now.
Initially we just ran through the wiki and lurked the forums a bit and we got by fine. When we needed help, adam came through in the clutch and we have been on autopilot for quite some time. We started using wordpress as a content management system and found sparksweb and his intergration with wordspress! Foxyshop has been the icing on the cake! You guys have a good combination that is built for success... great product, great support and your expanding the platform with support for great things like stripe and bitcoin so its keeping foxycart modern and up to par with the best of the best! Good stuff luke..

If you guys had an affiliate program!! That would be the ticket!

Btw ( Please feel free to use my testimonial on the site! )

1110  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: FoxyCart now supports Bitcoin! (Beta Launch) on: July 26, 2013, 12:58:21 AM
I know this thread is 4 months old but i just saw it and wanted to leave a testimonial for foxycart!

We have been using it for a while now and i love it ! We are still rocking foxycart 0.7.2 only because i have a dont fix whats not broke policy but im looking forward to upgrading to version 1.1 eventually!~

Also adam from foxycart kindly coded us a custom script for "free shipping over x amount" excluding certain categories and i think an upgrade would tank the script.. so we are a bit reluctant to upgrade.

Nonetheless, foxycart is amazing, its robust, yet simple, has features like downloadable goods, live rates for shipping, discounts & coupon system.. a community forum and much more!

A big thanks to everyone at foxycart! Luke, adam & brett!  + sparksweb too!! You guys rock!

Foxycart FTW!!!!

Best Regard,
Zedicus
1111  Other / Off-topic / Re: Foolproof way of communicating without fear of keyloggers on: July 18, 2013, 09:17:26 PM
I think people dont take computing seriously ... They dont consider their computing environment and they are surprised when they are compromised. The biggest threat is the user. Not a key logger or viruses. ..

I was once asked to fix a computer and i was in shock by the amount of malware it had on it. I was really surprised it was still working at all.. The user spent most of the time on the computer browsing porn sites. When i asked when did he start having issues? He replied its been 6-7 months but he thought it would go away.

The quad core computer was working so slow i just cant even explain how slow. The amount of 30-day trial software on the computer was unreal. Practically everything.. and everything was prompting to upgrade constantly. The task bar functions were disabled and the wallpaper was hijacked and right clicking anywhere was disabled..

I looked at the offending user and i said this might take a while! He replied back, he just needed the printer and internet to work  ..

He also happened to be the CEO of the company. Really tho he represented the usage and computing intelligence of most people .. Bitcoin and some aspects of technology in general is rather unforgiving for people who dont verse themselves in their environment, computing or otherwise.

Everyone doesnt have to be an expert so to speak but at least do your windows updates and keep youre services packs and drivers up to date. The third party apps/plugins like flash, java, silverlight, air ..need updates too!  As well as a good antivirus and firewall package and back that up with a good anti malware program and subscription.. Now back that up with tools like no script, ghostery, keyscambler, do-not-track, adblock! Also consider vmware if you have a newer computer with lots of resources. Quarantine youre work and nonsense from one another. Use lastpass / keepass and secure youre passwords.. Learn to get youre 2 factor authentication on... most importantly separate youre computing environment from OTHER PEOPLE!

If you have a computer that is being used by 5 people in a household.. all the above wont matter because they might not care about what sites they frequent or if the sites they are visiting is infecting the computer. Maybe they dont have bank accounts or bitcoins, or maybe they dont do online banking because they are kids!!

They call them "personal computers" for a reason.

Its time people take a lil more responsibility..

I have a club, dash cam and wheel locks and a viper alarm with a kill switch, blinking led and a 2way keyfob with a proximity sensor, tilt sensor and gps for my car.  Im not an expert but i have a general understanding of how the stuff works on my car so that i can protect it better. Sometimes stuff cant be helped! A house guest once brought over photos on a thumb drive and while i was in another room .. They plugged it into my laptop .. luckily it was just photos but...

It really sucks to be a victim so lets not help the bad guys so to speak! I once recovered some photos from a hard drive for a co-workers friend and i handed over the laptop and stuck my hand out for payment and i got a really big hug before the cash! She said the wedding photos were on it and they were priceless! I recovered the files by using the old freezer trick on the failing hard drive. The couple had no idea how lucky they were!

Not everyone is so lucky! Specially in the world of bitcoin.

^^ It was the first time i seen daggering .. I found it hilarious and im in complete denial that its actually a dance!!

Tho I can safely and slowly put up a /facepalm now that ive seen a couple daggering video's ... When i first saw it i broke out in laughter..

Really tho who am i to judge!!!.. It was kinda the same when i first saw people in a mosh pit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7w7m4lb2ok

I had the same feeling!! I said to myself who am i to judge!! I laughed equally tho..

Now i guess there some new dance the kids are doing called twerking too.. i found that equally hilarious and deserving of a slow /facepalm..
http://www.policymic.com/articles/39229/twerking-youtube-san-diego-high-school-students-suspended-for-twerking-video

I wasnt exactly thinking about the thirst for knowledge and all that good stuff when i was watching these tho.. i know what the commenter was thinking and feeling but .. we are pretty much living in the movie idiocracy so nothing is surprising but some stuff has some shock value and after being a lil numb to the world and its madness...

i find anything that passes my particular threshold of shock a bit funny.

1117  Other / Politics & Society / Re: MasterCard & Visa Start Banning VPN Providers on: July 12, 2013, 11:05:18 PM
The same they banned Wikileaks.
Strangely, Visa and Mastercard doesn't like anything US government doesn't like.

After that happened ... the hackers came out of the woodworks and started targeting paypal , visa, mastercard!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/wikileaks/8188797/WikiLeaks-supporters-hack-Mastercard.com.html

I think hackers can do more harm than good, by plain revenge hackings, as it will look to the public as simply the criminals getting back at credit card companies. Unless they uncover and publish unlawful behavior.

http://falkvinge.net/2012/11/20/europarliament-scolds-visa-mastercard-paypal-for-killing-wikileaks-donations-initiates-regulation/
That's another result of that financial blockade. I'm not a fan of a centralized government solving problems that arise because of centralization in the financial world, but would sure love to see PayPal losing a couple of expensive lawsuits due to their behavior.

I think youre right about the hackers .. it make for good press and some feel good articles but besides costing them millions it rarely changes their behavior! Considering we are still talking about them... Its plainly obvious they have a foothold so deep its gonna take more than a denial of service to remove the posture from their lean!! Denial of service may cost them millions but its like pick pocketing bill gates!  Not exactly gonna hurt him so to speak.. Makes for great headlines tho..

The article you posted starts out with one hell of a statement!! Its so on point i couldn't have said it better!!!

quote:  --->> "Visa, MasterCard, and Paypal control the valve to any money flow on the planet"

Get behind tor and then ---->   pay with bitcoin!

Or, less to my preference but available, pay for VPN with paypal...

Yeah... i just hate to give em business of any kind.. I last used paypal about 6 months ago on a car forum for a car part purchase from a forum member because he wouldnt take anything else and it was a rare piece so to speak but..

It just pains me to give them any money! If i had it my way i would never eva eva eva eva use paypal ever again! They are a **** company ran by **** people! The have a bfl like odor that makes you cringe at the thought of supporting their business!

1118  Other / Politics & Society / Re: For first time ever, feds asked to sit out Defcon hacker conference on: July 12, 2013, 01:22:27 AM
so how are they gonna play spot the fed!?

1119  Other / Politics & Society / Re: MasterCard & Visa Start Banning VPN Providers on: July 12, 2013, 12:55:03 AM
The same they banned Wikileaks.
Strangely, Visa and Mastercard doesn't like anything US government doesn't like.

Strangely enough they just unbanned wikileaks but i think they just want to track donation made to them ...

But yeah, the source of their stance is not internal! Its seems they are working outside of the whole judge, jury, and court of law thing and they are circumventing it all together !

With wikileaks i think it was Joe Lieberman who without a court order or without any proof of a law being broken ... Just basically called up visa and mastercard and "told" them to stop taking donation via Credit cards on the site.

Initially i think it was paypal who Joe Lieberman called and had paypal ban wikileaks from using the service!

Then paypal obliged without a court order or anything! (Just a mere phone call from Joe Lieberman)

Then wikileaks said well screw payal we will just use visa and mastercard!  Well it wasnt too long after giving paypal the middle finger that visa and mastercard got the call!!

& then of course visa and mastercard stopped taking donations for wikileaks!

After that happened ... the hackers came out of the woodworks and started targeting paypal , visa, mastercard!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/wikileaks/8188797/WikiLeaks-supporters-hack-Mastercard.com.html

Then Joe and his gang started targeting the web host of wikileaks ... (AMAZON CLOUD SERVICES)

after a call from joe and his gang, amazon caved in and shutdown wikileaks.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/dec/01/wikileaks-website-cables-servers-amazon

Then the mirrors happened after that !! A boat load of wikileaks clones showed up! Meaning .. Wikileaks was being mirrored by thousands of supporters who witnessed paypal, visa, mastercard, amazon and others who without court orders or anything "official" and documented were discriminating against the whistle blowing giant.

At the time i imagine satoshi coding with a grin as he watched what seemed to be a script out of the movies!

Fast forward a few years and here we are ... right smack in the middle of another whistle blowing scandal !!!  One that may change the face of communications as we know it!

hello, can you hear me now?.. How about know?

shhhhhhhhhhhhh static, click , click

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/businessdesk/2009/05/who-owns-the-credit-card-compa.html

The credit card companies are publicly held company's  ..as stated in the article Mastercard for example had an ipo in 2006.

But the "source of their stance" is not from their shareholders, or it does'nt seem it!  The reasons for them to selectively target a payment gateway or an industry or a country or just country's overseas would pretty much cause an outrage if it was public! But the sources is not publicy... surely these vpn companys arent breaking the law. Just imagine a how many executives use vpn services to access work networks while they are on their yacht!

Im pretty sure they didnt have executives in mind while going ahead with a ban tho.. Im just saying selectively targeting people, company's, industry's, country's or even networks seems a bit ... whats the word im looking for here?

discriminatory!
